I am so beyond excited to share my newest novel with you all! It releases on October 7th 2021. My new Young Adult horror thriller follows a group of friends on Halloween night as they temporarily put their differences aside to enter into a competitive scavenger hunt with a cash prize. The book takes place in Long Island, NY and follows several local urban legends. This was honestly so much fun to write and I can't wait for you to experience it as well!
This was such a fun read! The characters were great, the setting was creepy and it was just really entertaining. A fast read that is perfect for Halloween. I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway and read it in a day. This was my first book by Amy Koto but it won't be my last.
Halloween thrill-read that will leave you spooked!
If you're looking for the perfect Halloween thrill read, Scream Hunt could be the perfect choice for an exciting read that can test your adventurous side. With characters that are participating in a Halloween scavenger hunt, everything seems all fun and games with the competition up until they realize that there is something dangerous lurking and their game might not just be a game for long. From reading the synopsis, I was prepared for a story that would give me chills and scares throughout. Though this one was definitely exciting and became a nail-biter, it was a bit more mind than I had anticipated, making it appropriate for younger readers as well. The story fit my craving for a spooky story and I'm definitely recommending it to everyone who's looking for a Halloween thrill read that will leave you guessing.
The characters were great, the setting was perfect, and it really got me into the Halloween spirit.
There were some really great twists in this book. Just when I thought I had everything all figured out the author sent us in another direction to really keep the reader on the edge of their seat.
If you are looking for a quick horror/thriller with nods at films like Scream Urban Legend and I Know What You Did Last Summer you will highly enjoy your read!
Amy Koto's latest novel Scream Hunt is a thrilling adventure that draws you in with its twists and turns, culminating in an unexpected ending. I instantly connected with Shay and Adriana and joined the group along this scavenger hunt filled with folklore and Long Island's rich haunting history.
When you dare to read, you must remember one thing ... "you belong to Scream Hunt now!" I'm with you Amy Koto "Let's keep the story going!" Bravo Amy Koto!!!
When trust is broken, so can friendship be broken too. So, when Shay is forced into helping her old friends Adrianna, Yalissa, and Cici with a Halloween scavenger hunt due to her horror/thriller expertise she only hopes that drama won’t ensue during the event. The scavenger hunt doesn’t mean much to Shay besides her own genre interests but Adrianna wants fame and honestly, the cash prize is on everyone’s agenda. The worst that could happen is being scared but that’s the point on Halloween, right? But Halloween fun isn’t in store when someone decides to turn their Halloween celebration into a nightmare. Shay keeps getting bad feelings and Adrianna just won’t listen. So, when things start going wrong and people start getting hurt, Shay only hopes that the broken trust and friendship can be pushed aside so they can survive. My favorite movie genre is thriller/ horror and Halloween is my favorite holiday so this book was right up my alley. The book is written for a YA audience but that didn’t change anything for me because I enjoy YA as well. I had such a great time reading the book and loved the relationships between all of the characters. The story is so well done and has a nod to famous Horror and Thriller movies and books too. Amy Koto has done such an incredible job especially for all of us Halloween fans out there. Would be really excited to see this as a movie one day.
Halloween horror scavenger hunt! Let me start by saying this needs to be turned into a movie! A total campy, doesn't take itself too seriously, 'Scream' type horror movie! This is not just any scavenger hunt. Scream Hunt is an intricate series of 'hunts' based off horror movies and includes some of the haunted places around Long Island, New York. Each clue leads you closer to a totally exclusive Halloween party and it even has a cash prize for the winning team. Four high school senior best friends-turned-frenemies grudgingly team up for this wild Halloween night. This was SO much fun! It had some chills and thrills and suspense but also a little level of cheesiness that made for a great ride! A perfect Halloween season read!
(I received a complimentary copy of this book from Hidden Gems)
I liked that we spent a lot of time on the main characters. It wasn't just about them being hunted down. There was more substance here and I connected with them. The author did a good job of making you care about the characters so that when they were in danger you feared for their wellbeing.
Fantastic twists and reveals and an ending worth sticking around for.
If you like horror movies and books featuring games gone wrong, you're in the right place. This book really works the Halloween theme in a fun way but you can enjoy it all year round.
A perfect blend of Halloween thrill and friendship; Amy Koto’s Scream Hunt is a perfect autumn read. Detailing the adventures of a group of four friends, Shay, Adriana, Yalissa, and Cici, the book takes readers on a journey of teamwork amid desperate situations. The book is well written and fun to read, with engaging dialogue and descriptive language. In contrast to some young adult fiction, the book isn’t heavily based in overused cliches and the twist at the end isn’t overly anticipated which was a refreshing touch. A swift and easy read, Scream Hunt is a lovely Halloween story and a good one to help get into the spirit and mood of the season, but is enjoyable enough to be appreciated any time of the year.
I had a great time reading this horror thriller written by new author Amy Koto. Scream Hunt tells the story of two former friends, who reunite to participate in a Halloween scavenger hunt with a juicy cash price. At first, it seems like an easy task, but they encounter a frightening threat on the way and they suddenly have to strive to survive.
I love the fact that the author decided to use many movies references during the hunt. This book is exactly what I was craving for, an amazing story filled with unexpected twist and turns, that kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading it.
I think this is a great story and, as the plot thickened, so did my anxiety to discover the surprising ending. I for sure recommend reading this book!
Searching for a quick read YA horror? Then look no further. Former friends Shay and Adriana along with Cici and Yalissa team up for a Halloween scavenger hunt known as Scream Hunt. For a cash prize of 5K, what are the risks? What the team does not realize is that they may have joined together for a fun Halloween night, but someone from their past has more nefarious plans. The story is a thrilling, action-filled mystery. I did like the characters and love the references to movies and books as they solve the clues to get through the hunt. All in all, a fun read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was a great read just in time for Halloween! ‘Scream Hunt’ by Amy Koto is an exciting horror thriller aimed at teen readers, but I think anyone who likes this genre could enjoy it. The book follows the main characters, Shay, Cici, Yalissa, and Adriana and their adventure on Scream Hunt, a spooky scavenger hunt with a cash prize. While it seems like harmless good fun, they soon find out there is much more danger lurking than they had anticipated. Koto makes several references to horror movies throughout the book. I liked the character descriptions, and the plot was well thought through. Overall, I thought it was a fun and action-packed read.
Amy Koto is the author of Scream Hunt, a novel about horror and mystery. The main characters are Shay and Adriana, two former friends who decided to join and participate in a Halloween scavenger hunt with a cash prize. But they will soon realize that the risks are real and bigger than they thought. The first word that I can think to describe this book is engaging. The characters are interesting, the story is fast-paced and the plot is very well written. I started reading it without too many expectations but I was surprised and then I didn't want to stop reading it anymore. I think it is a must read for lovers of thriller and mystery novels!
I enjoyed this horror thriller. This is a new author for me which I look forward to reading more from them. This is a well written story about playing a game that is not your normal type of game. This one involves, life and death. This a Halloween scavenger hunt that two friends who realize fast that they are the ones that they are being hunted. This is a great story that kept me engaged throughout the story. The growth of the plot and characters was great throughout the story. The characters made the story entertaining to read right along with the twists and turns. I highly recommend this book.
This was a great storyline however I felt it lost direction. The Scream Hunt was interesting when it dealt with horror movies. It was pretty good in the beginning and then it just lost its engagement for me. Will Shay and Adriana become friends again? If so at what price? Will it be to extreme? Who is really after them and why? The end fell flat for me, so much anticipation and build up to be who It ended up being was a disappointment. I would of enjoyed that it was just a Halloween party at the end. I do appreciate winning this book and getting to read it in October 2021.
This story was pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised since it was so short. It was a bit creepy, but not too much that it kept me up at night. It's pretty perfect for Halloween. The only thing I was disappointed about was the villian with the green eyes. I thought the bad person and the reasoning behind their terror was kind of silly, but up until that reveal the story is great!
If you’re looking for a thriller, you’ve come to the right place. This book was absolutely amazing! The characters are so strong and relatable. This storyline could easily be turned into a top horror/thriller movie. The entire story is just spectacular overall and I couldn’t put this book down. I highly recommend reading!
"Friends for a day, sisters for life." This is the motto for four friends. In high school now, they decide to go on this scary hunt. It becomes way more dangerous than expected. Watch out! I liked that the clues refered to horror movies and took them to real haunted sites. Nice fall read! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from Hidden Gems.
Fast read. Reminded me of being a young teenage girl where all is bright and exciting with very little substance. I figured out the main story pretty quickly, then got bored. The psych hospital and the tunnels were kind of cool. But why did their phones stop working every time they were in trouble?
