In episodic fashion, read along as two souls find their way back to one another through second chances, uncovered secrets, forgiveness, truthfulness, and heartache. Somber + Rustic realizes it's a much more daunting task, fighting to stay apart than to land together. There are mishaps, hatred, built tension, uncertainties, and fights (plenty), but neither are able to combat the love that is most potent and present amongst the chaos life has created for the two.

I can't give this book a rating. I'm also not going to be reading book 2.

I don't like second chance romances - I don't, I'm actually a few baby steps away from strongly disliking them, not because they're bad but because you know, personal tastes. So me giving it a low rating would actually not do this book Justice because the writing is actually good and the dialogue too so me coming with a heaaaaavy personal bias that will make it look like the book is bad naaaa fam.

Obviously we're all biased but when the bias is heavy I need to put that out there so all parties are aware. Thank you for coming to my ted talk😂

A much anticipated read that meet all my expectations from this particular author. The emotions that I experienced had me all in my feelings.
The parallel souls of Somber and Rustic reconnected after the loss of her mother. They had a lot of unresolved issues but what was definitely still there was the love. That plot twist in the end got me on edge waiting for the next book.
I'm never disappointed with this author's work. She brings realistic issues to the forefront with a sensual healing twist. Her stories always invoke all sorts of emotions.

Wow!

Grey never fails to come with the fire. This short, romantic book focuses on second chance love, forgiveness and pain. I can’t wait to read book two. Hopefully Somber and Rustic will be able to heal together. 15 years is a long time to carry a secret and pain by yourself and I’m glad that Somber read her mother’s letter before she left. Absolutely loved it!

Heartbreakingly beautiful

I could feel the pain in the words..the heaviness. This book touched on loss in so many ways. As a women who miscarried a son at 5 months I know the pain of losing a child, the pain of losing a parent, and a love. I could understand both Rustic and Somber's perspective. This book was heavy and healing. Different from her other books but just as great if not better.

Forgiveness!!!

Somber’s mother was so thoughtful, she made her transition although painful less stressful. You can definitely feel the love between Doll and Russ and I believe that a second chance to get it right would create magic. And it starts with forgiveness..

Whew! I dont know how the loving was 15 years ago but now it’s hot hot hot! With that aside, the emotions are high on both sides. Somber has so much healing ahead of her and Russ is the person who hurt her so how can she heal her? So ready for the next part!

Always short and sweet

Everytime I think I've heard everything imaginable in a love-hate relationship, I get a fresh new look. This story was extra extra good. I was not upset with the cliffhanger ending, it made me anticipate the next stages in the couple's relationship.

The end was nice. The fact that he was trykng to have sex with her right after sprinkling her mother's ashes???? And then she was saying wait and wasn't letting up. I dont like Rustic. And its and ugly name. I dont like this book.

I have mixed feelings and I’m waiting for the next book.
So far Rustic has been annoying and entitled. I think “it’s been 15yrs” is the phrase that got on my nerves the most. Why do you think you have the right to impose a timeframe to healing from the mess you created.
So many parts of the guy grated my nerves; the way he knew that fake friend of hers had her claws out ready to pounce on him but still went along with it( that was her supposed best friend)… the sex after the scattering of the ashes… hmm, the way he just expected her to leave her whole life in NY and just stay because he said so? And the nerve of him to be mad at the possibility she had a kid by someone else.

Human feelings are just complicated and I just feel Somber is the kind of friend you’ll be asking to break up with the guy a million times but they’ll end up getting married. We read he has changed but I guess we’ll have to read the next book to see what’s next.

Still, I have to appreciate the author’s penmanship. I love her style. This novel just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Oh my goodness!!! This short almost took me out...I understood and am feeling all the emotions that Somber is experiencing due to the loss of her mother! GRIEF IS REAL! 😭😭😭 The unresolved heartbreak between her and Rustic kept me from drowning in my sorrow. That history was another real pain. The passion they had for each other!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ And then to be continued?????! 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ you wrong for that Ms @greyhuffington 🙃🤷🏽‍♀️😂😂😂 I can’t wait for the continuation.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Full of 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Grey writing is out of this world!

Dealing with Grief and heartbreak alone for years, my god. Somber wasn’t wrong to feel how she felt fifteen years later. Also her mother seemed a little evil to me.
Somber deserves a healthy love. A happy life. Rustic better treat her right!
Apart of me do wish that Somber didn’t give Rustic a second chance. They were teenagers and we all make mistakes, I get that. That type of betrayal & the tragedy that followed is unforgettable.

Parallel love

Now she wrong for this ending. I can’t even express how I’m my feelings I am. I love and hate Russ at the same time. Somber and Russ’s connection is so strong you can feel it coming off the pages. I just want to read more and there’s no more left.

I enjoyed it! Can't wait for the second part. At first it started out so depressing that I was worried about reading further. Then the story started unfolding and I got into the characters and their mess. All in all, it was a great read.
