Date his daughter’s teacher? No way!
Buckskin ranch hand Zeke Lassiter’s too busy rebuilding a life with his 8-year-old daughter Claire to think about romance. But Claire has other ideas. She’s found just the right woman for her dad—her third-grade teacher, Nell O’Connor! Shattered by events he’s unwilling to share with his daughter, Zeke claims that a date with her teacher is inappropriate. But now school’s out…

Nell bonded with Claire, her favorite student, and she wouldn’t mind getting to know Claire’s appealing dad. But he’s clearly reluctant to get involved. She’s ready to let it go, but Claire’s not. And a matchmaking 8-year-old is a force to be reckoned with.

I have to say that I almost didn't write a review because I couldn't stop reading the book. It was so adorable. I remember seeing movies where I fell in love with the child. There was no comparison when reading this book. I adored Claire from beginning to end. When you run into very smart and motivated children that really want to help family and their community is, especially their school, you know you have a winner.

What I was extremely happy about was that she knew a match that was made in Heaven. This match allowed these two worlds to come together, family and community.

Nell was a teacher Claire adored so much and she knew that Nell would be a great match for her dad, Zeke. It didn't seem to be but a small hindrance that neither Nell nor Zeke even knew about. Talk about overcoming big hurdles. Nothing really seems like it's an obstacle for very long with Claire. This is why she is my favorite character.

I have always had a soft spot in my heart for children who are wonderful matchmakers and this book has got to be my favorite of this series. I decided to finally stop reading it over and over on July 4th, ;-). I really felt a lot of independence and strength when reading this book over and over and true freedom. Children are able to make sound decisions that can assist so well came to life in this wonderful novel!

This author never ceases to amaze me because she is always able to take any situation and make life warmer, more positive, and definitely brighter! If the hardest part is being able to write a review that matches her gifts, then you know the book is good. I give it five stars.

I received an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I have been very excited to read this book because Zeke and Claire are such awesome characters. They have such a loving relationship, and Claire is a fascinating little girl. Because of previous drama in their extended family, there was a lot for this book to resolve, and they really deserved a happy ending. The Buckskin Ranch is the right place for that, and the Brotherhood is the right group to assist.
Zeke is such a gentleman, but he has learned not to trust people. I don't think he realized how much he had healed by being able to trust the members of the Brotherhood, especially Jake. That relationship was particularly moving because Jake has Zeke's back in all ways, some of which were very funny because Jake. Zeke is ready to fall in love, but he has to be hit over the head with it. Claire is more than ready to to do for him!
Nell is ready for Zeke, and she knows it. She sees exactly how wonderful he is and doesn't mind Claire's matchmaking one little bit. She is not prepared for how quickly their connection deepens, though. She rises to the challenge, and even Zeke can't miss that she is the perfect woman for him.
I loved Nell and Zeke as a couple and as a family with Claire. I loved the horse riding lessons, the Brotherhood's solidarity, and the hints about who is in the next book. This is a great cowboy romance, and I absolutely recommend it!

Top-notch wrangler

"I wouldn't care, Daddy. You look so happy when she's around. You like her. I know you do."

I really love this series, with two more to go.

I love The Buckskin Brotherhood series. Every book so far has kept my attention only waiting to see how the story was going to end.

I was a little disappointed toward the end of the story that Claire wasn't more into what was going on with Zeke and Nell.

I am including a excerpt from the last chapter:

Nell found the perfect town, perfect job,the perfect little bungalow and the perfect best friend. Then that sexy cowboy had to show up and ruin everything.

In the event, she was a mess - tired, cranky, sexually frustrated... Damn! What a disaster. How did she get into this fine fix?

Nell was mad as hell, but also mad as hell about him.

"Does that mean...?

I'm backing up to The Buckskin Brotherhood series - Book 3: Baby-Daddy Cowboy with CJ Andrews and Isabel Ricchetti.

She lives in Seattle and he lives in Apple Grove Montana. Is a long-distance co-parenting plan going to work, along with the baby's mommy and daddy relationship? Let's find out.

"Reading is a passport to countless adventures." Quote

Single-Dad Cowboy (Buckskin Brotherhood, #8 by Vicki Lewis Thompson
Thank you Vicki for another great Buckskin Brotherhood book....and thanks for using the name Harland Kuhn in the story. It made the book even more special for me and brought back some wonderful memories of my grandfather. This is Nell, Zeke and Claire's story. All the "brothers" and other friends we get to catch up with are also a very important part of this heartwarming and some breaking adventure. There is deception, cheating, discovery, bonding, laughter, adorable children, tears, heartache, angst, resolution , proof that a family doesn't have to be blood to be family and great steam to get us to a HEA. I can't wait to see what is next!
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Easy-to-read Happily Ever After Steamy Funny Entertaining Romantic Great world building Tear-jerker Wonderful characters Page-turner

Like each and every book in this series, this one makes me want to move to Apple Grove. I want to visit the shops along main street. I want to have a night out at the Choosy Moose and enjoy some line dancing with a handsome cowboy while I’m there. I want to be friends with the people who populate this town.
Vicki makes this town so real and inviting, that I’m sorry at the end of the story, that I can’t take a trip there. The characters there are so honorable and decent and fun, that it’s a shame they aren’t real people. The real world would be a lot better place if more people in the real world were like the citizens of Apple Grove. This series is everything you could want in a book. At times heartwrenching. At times laugh out loud funny. And always very satisfying. I hope this series never ends.

This book has all the giddy feels!

It’s cute, steamy, charming, and oh so sweet! I mean give me cowboy and I’ll swoon but give me a cowboy and a matchmaker kid and swoon doesn’t even begin to cover it!

I definitely need to find me a Claire because her matchmaking skills are better than my mom’s!

I love that Val and Nell were teachers and had such a great relationship with their students! I loved getting to know my students. I also enjoyed how Val shared a tale of a student that proposed to her. I remember when one of my third grader students asked if I’d marry him because we’d make smart kids given I was the teacher and he was one of the smartest in the class!!

Like always, Thompson writes the most perfect escape tales and this one had more plot twists and layers than expected!

Also Vicki, you totally need to create a Spotify playlist for this series!!

“Single Dad Cowboy “(The Buckskin Brotherhood Book8)

What a book! This was a terrific book about a little girl, her cowboy Dad and her teacher. This girl’s Dad can do no wrong, according to her,and she loves her teacher very much too,so why not put them together? She thinks it doesn’t work, but she’s very wrong! She convinces her teacher that everyone knows how to ride horses,so her teacher should learn.and from her Dad,who knows more about horses than anyone! And it works, except the little girl doesn’t know it!
Does it end with a happily ever after? You’ll just have to read it to find out.
By the way, this is part of a very good series of books and you should try more of them,if you get the chance

Single-Dad Cowboy by Vicki Lewis Thompson is worth the read! This small-town, single-dad, cowboy romance is full of friendship, comradery, family, romance, and humor spread throughout. I enjoyed this read from start to finish! Zeke and his daughter have such a sweet connection as father and daughter. Claire is a matchmaker, however, and wants her dad to be with her teacher, Nell. The well-written story with wonderful characters really drew this reader into the story. It is engaging & I couldn’t put it down. I loved the humor, the friendships, and the family/support of the Brotherhood (Claire’s uncles). Single-Dad Cowboy: Matchmaking Daughter Western Romance
is Book 8 of The Buckskin Brotherhood Book series but can be read as a standalone.

I remember when Zeke first came to the ranch, it was a heartfelt moment. Glad to read his story and get to know the heart of the man. His daughter is such a sweet girl. Nell is the type of teacher we all wish our kids/grandkids had the opportunity to be taught by. The Brotherhood sure took the jaw-dropping shock level to a new high, they're bold as ever and very serious about doing the right thing. Nell challenges Zeke, she's classy, upfront and frisky. He's willing and able. Love how author brings this together, I laughed a little, fanned a little and embraced the warmth of all the sweet moments. Such a delight to read. I received a free copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Zeke has had a rough last 10 years of his life, finding out first & second hand what cheating is all about - he is very guarded and protective of Claire and wants to keep her innocent from the truth - Nell is Claire's 3rd grade teacher and adores her - when Claire decides to try out some matchmaking and gets the results she is looking for but the past never stays in the past and needs to be dealt with appropriately!! Another great story and I can hardly wait for Val's upcoming read - I read a bookfunnel version and freely leave my review!

It was fun returning to Buckskin Ranch to read about Zeke and his daughter, Claire. Even thought Claire was only eight, she was aquite a little matchmaker with her dad and her third grade teacher, Miss Nell O'Connor. I enjoyed Claire's antics and the romance brewing between Zeke and Nell. It took some of the sexy Buckskin Brotherhood to help them along too. This book was sweet, sexy, and smoldering at times, and a whole lot of fun to read! I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

I really enjoyed this story for the strong characters and the depth of emotions. A great mix of personalities. Zeke Lassiter tracked down his half-brother at the Buckskin Ranch. Now, he has settled into cowboy life with his 8-year-old daughter, Claire. Claire knows what she likes and what she wants. She loves her dad and living on the ranch. She has adopted uncles, aunts, a grandmother and a little brother. Life is great. She decides he needs a wife. Her 3-grade schoolteacher is her choice. Check out how is organizes her dad’s life.

This story-line is perfect! New romance, young child, renewed trust, and, understanding life’s ups and downs, are always excellent topics in a book. Zeke and his young daughter, Claire, had a second chance at happiness being on a working ranch, living in a bunkhouse and being together. With the Buckskin Brotherhood at his back, he had a chance to develop his faith in his friends, family and lifestyle as a ranch-hand and new-found relationship with Nell. It’s a wonderful read and kept me smiling which is always a good-thing.

I was so excited for this story to come out, and it was well worth reading! Zeke is a wonderful guy and an awesome dad. I felt for him after all he'd gone through. His daughter, Claire, is one of my favorite characters. She's sweet, yet impish. Nell is Claire's teacher and a real sweetheart. VLT creates characters and settings that draw you in and make you want to stay! The story has heart and steam. I recommend reading this to anyone who likes a good romance that is steamy! I can't wait for the next book in the series!

I laughed out loud several times while reading this book.
Little, 8-year-old, Claire has decided that her dad and her teacher should date each other and she uses all her matchmaking skills to pull it off. Zeke and Nell like each other, a lot, which makes it difficult to resist Claire's antics to throw them together. When they finally give in, their chemistry is hot enough to start a fire.

Zeke’s 8 year old daughter is a scheming matchmaker and has decided that her teacher will make a great love interest for her father. Due to his past Zeke is resistant but the chemistry between him and Nell is strong..... Great story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A good book

I have read most of this series. I felt the ending seemed rushed and incomplete. I felt more was needed with regard to Bud and his relationship with both wives and his sons. I also would have liked to see Zeke and Nell’s relationship go on a bit longer to see how all three end up happily ever after, after Nell moves onto the ranch.

Cute & hilarious

The love store is about Zeke and Nell but the fun is about Claire. We find out immediately that Zeke is the half brother of Jake and all the misery connected to that. Add in the trauma of Zeke's divorce from Claire's mother and we know Zeke has some issues. But Claire is a matchmaker at heart and wins the day while entertaining us all.

Nell and Zeke—she’s his daughter’s 3rd grade teacher and he’s a wrangler at the Buckskin Ranch. Claire, his daughter, is a little matchmaker and seems determined to get the two of them together. While they’re both wildly attracted to the other one, he has reasons to keep their relationship limited and almost blows their chance at a HEA.

This wasn't the first in 'The Buckskin Brotherhood' series that I've read, so I kinda knew what to expect. I really like the character development and the writing style of this author. In this particular story though, the 8yr old steals the show. It's a fun read with a fair amount of spice and a combination of light and dark topics.

Daughters who know their dads

Zeke is focused on being a good dad, but he can't ignore the fact that his daughter's teacher, Nell makes him think of more than friendship. It's a good thing he's smart enough to take a few, not too subtle hints. It's an enjoyable read.
