Beauty in Lies #4

Until Death Do Us Part

Rate this book
In secrets we trust. In promises we doubt.

Our love is built on secrets.

From the moment Rafael approached me, I knew he would destroy me in the end. He built our love on secrets and lies, on manipulation that tears us apart.

I have to trust him to shield me from the flames.

My grief is all-consuming, tearing me apart from the depths of my soul. He's a steady strength at my spine, supporting me through the blackest moment of my life.

Our sins are linked in ways I never expected.

But our enemies are closing in and demanding payment for the blood we've spilled. They want to make us suffer for our crimes, but it isn't Rafael's life at stake.

It's mine.

Until Death Do Us Part is the final book in the Beauty in Lies series. This is a dark mafia romance and contains graphic violence, mature content, and elements that may be triggering. Please listen at your own discretion.

I liked it🤷 Book 1 and 2 annoyed me just a bit but book 3 and 4 were a lot better for sure, and there was actually character growth which made all the difference. Heroine finally stood up for herself, although I hate how she wanted to let the sister live, but I'm glad she didn't 😌. The only issues I really had was that the captivity part was a bit boring at times, and I get really annoyed with the constant "el diablo" and "mi reina". Other than that, I actually enjoyed this series🤷

some parts were boring, but that was one heck of a bloody, ferocious ending. my biggest regret with this series is the power imbalance between the MCs. the h will forever be the Hs prized possession. admittedly, not the worst thing to be when the H is Rafael, but its not the kind of dynamic that i was looking for when i picked these books up. 🚶‍♀️🔫 the h has a character development, but she never really grew a backbone or has her own agency when it comes to the H. i thought that their personality would rub off on each other over time. the H would learn to “soften up” a bit or dull his sharp, dark edges, and the h would learn to be more tough and embrace her wicked side.

unfortunately, it doesnt happen like that. 🤧 the H continues to cross every boundary imaginable. the h gets angry for a minute but eventually lets up and forgives the H without giving any sort of comeuppance. they never compromised on anything. its a dictatorship and not a relationship, which is just not my thing. other than that, this is a series i would recommend if you like obsessive, possessive, touch her you die, and unhinged heroes and stalker romance with mafia elements. i would advice anyone interested in reading this series to check the trigger warnings. the H is very much an unapologetic antihero who does things that might be a hard limit for some. 🙃

ALL MY REVIEWS CAN BE FOUND ON MY BLOG: ABSTRACT BOOKS

line

Star Rating : 4.5/5 Stars

POV : Dual

Cliffhanger : None

Hero : Rafael

Heroine : Isa

Pace of the story : Moderate

Angst Rating : 5/10

Heat Rating : 6/10

Triggers Involved : Kidnapping

Plot Summary :
The moment Isa wakes up she knows that something is wrong. Rafael is her devil and this time he has really shown how far he would go to protect her. Even though she always knew how crazy he was , seeing it first hand was a new experience for her. But now it was too late.

When she is hit with the repercussions of the last night attack and her whole world shakes with her grief and terror , Rafe is the one who calms her down like no one else. But their enemy was not done with them yet. It was only a matter of time before he realised that they had tricked him and then they would be in even more danger. Now is the time for the final war for Isa and Rafael.

Overall Opinion :
I have been crazily waiting for this conclusion since forever! This series is literally one of my top reads of all time and I can’t recommend it enough to you all. Rafe and Isa have come so far from their stalker lover relationship and I couldn’t be more happy for them. Isa is slowly adapting and becoming the queen rafe always knew she was. They both have this perfect bond which even after so much hurt and pain has not lessened at all!

This book is the last book of this series and I am so sad to say goodbye to these characters! Rafe and Isa will always be with me lol and I hope we get to see more of them in future. The ending was perfect and so was the epilogue!

This series has a lot of triggers that the author always puts in her books (I respect the hell out of her for that) , so please keep those in mind before picking up this series. However , if like me , crazy stalker heroes who know that the heroine is thiers from the moment they see her and then wait for years to claim her are your type , then do not hesitate to one click this series!

I had come across the Santiago series and was interested but started reading this first -- this series made me decide I would not read anything further from this author, EVER. I wrote this review for the second book, but it applies to the entire series. . . There's a lot of build up about all the lies, secrets, manipulation, betrayals, rapes, abuses -- and scrub, rinse, repeat -- put in place to move the story along and add interest, but ALL of it is irrelevant, NONE of it has any consequence, because Isa NEVER, NOT ONCE does ANYTHING about it. Every instance is entirely anti-climactic because the worst she ever does is yell something akin to, "how dare you," and that's it, he's forgiven. She might as well just shrug and not say anything for all the difference it makes in their relationship and therefore the development of the story. It never alters her feelings, only a few stray thoughts and admissions are thrown out, but because they're never acted on by Isa, they amount to nothing and quickly become frustrating, then as the story progresses, sickening. Because NO MATTER what he does to her and the people she loves, she "can't help but love him." In the time it takes her panties to fall he f***s her into forgetfulness and forgiveness. Literally. Every. Time. In minutes. Like she has an IQ of under 75, and no short-term memory (much less long-term).

The most consequential aspect of these built up betrayals, lies, manipulations are that when she finally does yell some snarky comment at him it results in some unforgivably stunning form of domestic violence and abuse, and boy is the abuse comprehensive. Also literally, every domestic violence abuser behavior warned about and listed on victim websites was done by the male lead to the female lead -- the worst of which was a tie between branding her like livestock/a slave WHILE raping her with a knife hilt as well as his body; the cutting/carving of his name into her flesh; setting up her evil twin to be kidnapped and most likely raped, tortured, and killed; and the fertility shot and forced pregnancy, which is saying something since their relationship starts with stalking, drugging, kidnapping, human trafficking and coerced rape. Not joking, not at all.

What is going on between them is NOT love, and the author even alluded to that a number of times, even admits it's probably Stockholm Syndrome, and that it's toxic. Yet Isa never does anything to fight him besides throwing out snide comments, and running a few feet a couple of times. Seriously, nothing. And abusive sex -- cutting, burning, beating, or forcing sex even when she says "no" -- is his answer to everything. The characters end up being flat, one dimensional frustrations I began to care about less and less as the story went on and eventually actually hated, both of them, rather than the reverse as it should be. Even explaining Isa's non-responses to all of Rafe's abuses and crimes away as Stockholm Syndrome stretches credulity beyond the breaking point, because she talks a tough game, kind of/almost, but never, ever, delivers anything but moans and mewls after her panties drop -- and within only minutes, if not seconds of realizing he had betrayed-lied-manipulated-coerced her yet again. Her character is the very definition of stupid and one dimensional since she was completely incapable of learning from experience and evidence.

I cannot say I enjoyed this story, which is a shame because it was technically fairly well written, and the premise was fairly interesting. It was the ridiculously lame anti-climactic non-responses after such horrific, horrific abuse, the complete lack of redemption or development in the relationship that I just could not tolerate and so cannot recommend ANY of these books. I read the warning at the front of the first book and each book after, and I kept with it so long because I kept thinking at some point the ridiculously abusive filthy scum male lead would do something to redeem himself grow, change, or develop, or the female lead would finally have enough and take some dramatic action, which on both accounts never happened. The story just wasn't enjoyable, didn't wind me up with excitement, or pleasant anticipatory anxiety for what would happen next, nor make me wistful, dreamy, hopeful, or amorous. At best it left me frustrated with it's continual domestic violence and the male's extreme never-ending narcissism. In the end I quit depressed, disturbed, and filled with hopelessness, making it worse than a waste of time. Disturbed that any author, much less fellow reader and human, would think a story of extreme and continual domestic abuse was a romance, love, or even a decent erotica tale. The abuse and lies just never stop, and she never learns, leaving me as a reader frustrated, hopless, and angry, rather than dreaming or fulfilled.

When will authors, and readers understand that tolerating and/or excusing domestic violence and abuse is not strength, but extreme weakness? True strength is NOT tolerating, rationalizing, or justifying domestic violence even to survive it; NOT allowing it to continue by finding some way to GET OUT, especially when children are impacted, THAT is real strength, real courage, determination and grit, because that is truly facing fear, no, actually terror, and the greatest of uncertainty. This story was horrible gaslighting that spins domestic abuse as an acceptable if unconventional form of romance and love. Instead it is a sickening parody, at best, of that emotion, and at worst and in actuality, an ongoing series of horrific crimes in what seems to be an effort to make women think they SHOULD accept abuse as love. Really it is just a travesty to women everywhere, and a disservice to romantic fiction even "dark" romantic fiction, because there is NOTHING redemptive or truly loving or accepting ever done, and domestic violence is excused and even glorified.

I wish I could put more then five stars...
It's the last book of the series and its wrecked me...I sobbed a lot reading this.
I read this book slowly as I didn't want it to end it's THE LAST BOOK OF THE SERIES!!
Rafe is an obsessive possessive, beautiful man who goes above and beyond for Isa and for that I love him.
He's everything I want in a book boyfriend and more.
Isa developed so much in this book and I just love her feistiness, strongness and willfulness as her true self comes to light.
Adelaide is a fantastic writer and one of the best mafia writers out there.
This book made me feel everything so emotionally charged, A fantastic plot, characters and action.
The last book of the series left me on the edge of my seat. 10/5 Story, 5/5 spice, 5/5 Angst.

Endgame

The end of a journey, and now at book 4, and while I have fewer words, I am still stuck by how good this series was. This is the journey of evolution of Isa and Rafe's relationship and mafia adventure. The former principesa Isa is now Rafe's equal graduating to his riena; Rafe remains just as dominating, possessive, and protective as before, both a united front overcoming their enemies. Intense, steamy and picturesque as ever written with a flourishing colorful and sensual style, an excellent conclusion to a great story.

If you thought your emotions were wrecked with the previous books, then you are in for a massive surprise. Rafa & Isa’s journey was something to amazing to witness. Being able to see Isa grow into the woman that she was meant to be and being able to see Rafa’s emotions show was such a treat. There is so much I want to say about Rafa & Isa’s journey, yet I don’t want to spoil it for you because you need to experience it to the fullest capacity. Get ready for one heck of a ride that will show you what a power couple looks like! Isa’s strength and Rafa’s love for her showed through and through for their enemies and world to see. 2.5 stars I guess
This was betterrr, I had no expectations but this was fine actually.

Overall thoughts on the series:
A BIG NO!
I don’t think these many parts were needed, unnecessary dragging, almost repeated scenes. Even if I enjoyed some parts of the series, the first novella and book was good but everything kept on going downhill after that, I expected maybe it’d get better, but nah. I don’t recommend it. It definitely wasn’t worth the time.

•This series is on fire! •

I didn't think this book would leave me all swoon-y after all the emotional turmoil I suffered from book 1 to book 4 — but there you go... I am swooning.

I loved a lot of things in this book and series as well.

1. The stages of relationship between both main characters as they develop into something else and goes deeper felt heartfelt more than anything else.

2. The metamorphosis of the FMC from the day she was taken up to the day she survived a lot of things. Her character flourished slowly and progresses as you read. With every book part, you will see and feel her changes and it was refreshing to see a character's overtime growth taken with care and consideration.

3. Rafe is a true anti-hero. No doubt about it. Hands down one of the truest villains out there. And I hate to admit it but he's grown on me now.

4. Books 1 - 4 will show you different stages of Isa and Rafe and how they conquered each other.

5. I would say my most favorite parts of the series are book 2 and book 4. Book 2 is when things escalated from "Oh my god" to "What the actual fcuk!" level. Book 4 is when things are more intense and thrilling. Don't be deceived though. Book 1 is where it was sweet until you get to the last part. Book 3 is awesome as well as it led to all the madness that was about to happen in book 4.

It's a series of 4 books. I read the last 3 books exactly a year back. This was an utter nonsense series. This book kept the dark parts but was too repetitive and the characters became annoying.

It was written so badly. How could a book be so CRINGE?

Who the fuck made this hero a mafia boss? He was so immature.I would do almost anything to go back in time and not have read this book.

NOTHING was sane or made sense. Every character was detestable. I can't believe this made it to publishing.

This was neither romantic nor dark, it was absolutely a CRINGE FEST. Please please please do not make such male & female character like this again. Spare us, I beg.

‼️NONSENSE SERIES‼️

Enjoyed the finale and the arc of this story, but definitely think the narrative dragged a bit across all books-it may have been more digestible as a duet, but none the less, good series

Gabriel wins mvp award

I love Adelaide! She always makes me feel things. But today I could not love Isa. I wanted to…lord knows I did, but she just made me so angry. I wanted more from her. I don’t think she truly earned her title. Dealing with Dima was a step, but there were so many where she allowed herself to be put at risk. I’m not talking about Rafael cuz I think she should’ve caved way sooner. I just mean her family, her sister. She should’ve dealt with that idk differently I felt especially Odina. All in all though I would say that this series was wicked good. I loved the twists and turns and mystery. There was a grit there that I needed. I’m glad I stuck it out. I’m also just as glad I waited for the last book before I read it, I would’ve climbed the walls trying to find out what happened. I’m impatient like that! Lmfao! This is dark not pitch dark but yea dark. Read at your own risk. Take a gander at the prologue. If that’s too much for you then this series probably isn’t for you. There’s no shame in that. Alas, for my wicked friends who love to take a walk on the darker side of wild. This will wet your appetites!

I reach so far so can't give up now

There's a few death in this book that got me shook and the plot was was there. I still feel like it should have been two books instead of four. I also believe that the MMC Raphael was the reason why a lot of death had happened in the book.

I still really enjoy this four book series and I don't regret reading it. I just thought after reading the first book that I would have loved this series so much however it was okay. The sister annoyed me so much to the very end and the villain was pretty good however they should give more details on his lifestyle and why he hate Raphael so much. Normally in books the villain die a simple death which annoys me so in this one the villain actually suffered and I enjoyed it so much.

The couple: Rafe and Isa

Romance genre: mafia
Series: Beauty in Lies
Length:270 pages

Plot: There's a big criminal summit, organized mostly by Rafe, and he brings Isa with him. While there, , and thus Isa is kidnapped by . Rafe figures out that Isa is not there right away, and thus begins the quest to save her. While with her kidnapper, Isa is in grave danger, but she also formulates a plan which almost works. Rafe saves her, and . I'm not sure why I put all the spoiler tags, since, if you've read the series thus far, you know who's going to do what, and I give out spoilers on everything else, but *shrug*.

Character development: This is the first book where I felt that Rafe might actually love and also like Isa as an equal human being, but that was in large part because she was more immersed in his world and more accepting of the violence. But also, she was able to use some of her newfound confidence and training to keep herself safe (to a point) . It's strange - I'm not sure Rafe himself knows exactly what he wants in Isa. He's said all throughout the series that he wants her to be his queen and be part of his world but he seems to crave her love and her softness. I don't think he understands that most people can't compartmentalize their personalities like he seems to expect.
Anyways, I liked this book much more than the last two, partly because it seemed like Rafe was done abusing Isa. That was nice. That wrapped up the series on a hopeful note.

4 - 4.5 stars!

This is the final installment of Rafael and Isa and I'm so sad their story has ended. Until Death Do Us Part was full of action, suspense and HOT heat. Rafael and Isa's enemies are circling and this is the biggest fight of their life for their happy ending. I loved their journey and their conclusion. These two made me bite my nails, swoon, laugh, cry and smile.

If you like dark romance with a very possessive and obsessive hero and a heroine that starts out meek but grows into a dragon then I highly suggest this series. There are several triggers so make sure you read the author's note before reading and be aware it's not a sunshine and rainbows series. Overall, a solid series that I could see myself rereading in the future.

"Until Death Do Us Part" is the culmination of Isa and Rafael's story.

We finally reach the conclusion where the demons plaguing them expose themselves, we deal with familial losses and past evils. An expected betrayal and kidnappings provide drama, but their love is strong and survives to give us a sweet HEA.

I really enjoyed this series!

Beauty In Lies :
- Until Tomorrow Comes 3.75
- Until Forever Ends 3.5
- Until Retribution Burns 3
- Until Death Do Us Part 4

Love didn’t always start out as a pretty fairytale. Sometimes it was brutal and ugly and reflected the realities of the world around us. But when it grew, it outshone anything that was rooted in the beautiful lies society tried to tell us were the truth. In the end, though, they would always be false—deceptions to keep people complacent.

This is my one of the most anticipated series of the year!

Where do I even start with this one? I'll keep this one as short as possible though cuz it's 4 books and I'm lazy

So this series starts with Rafe noticing Isa from across the street and bam the obsession sets in. Isa at the time is only 16 though so he decides to keep his distance and wait to make his move once she's 18. Don't worry, he's not a paedophile. He does not harbor any sexual thoughts for her while she's still underage.

Now let's talk about Isa. I was SO DAMN TIRED of her fighting & running from their relationship for 3 FUCKING BOOKS! This girl got on my damn nerves & ruined an amazing series for me! I'm still SOOOO mad at her even though she does redeem partially redeems herself in this book. I get that author was trying to portray the ruthlessness of Rafe by making Isa fight him at every turn because no one could live to tell the story had anyone else done it. And while that was definitely swoony, to watch a mere girl stand up to Rafe, a man everyone fears, that shit got boring after the 2nd book when ISA wouldn't stop fighting their relationship at every fucking turn. While I love a heroine fighting their relationship and hero working to gain her love I'd say 3 books with that storyline is a bit too much, what do you say? I mean A at one point I was ready for author to kill Isa's character and just keep writing more about Rafe.

If I lost her, there would be nothing worth living for. Nothing worth saving left within me. I would burn the world down to get my vengeance for what it had taken from me.

Or maybe not?

I could finally (kinda) tolerate Isa in this book because she finally fights to be with Rafe and stops fighting him at every (focus on every because she just can't completely stop fighting him for no fucking reason) turn.

I fucking loved Rafe and his OTT obsession with Isa! This man is amongst my top 5 fave heroes. I didn't get the same all consuming love from Isa though and that was a bummer because otherwise I could've easily given other parts a 4 star rating or above. The writing was perfect and NO grammatical errors.

I was impressed to say the least.

I know he does some pretty messed up shit but fucked up that I am, I loved every single one of them and was begging for MORE.

“I will always come for you, mi reina. Even when you do not want me to,”

This last book perfectly wrapped up the series though. We got to see Isa fight for once to be with Rafe. Witnessed her finally reciprocate one tenth of the obsession & all consuming love Rafe had for her and saw her adapting to his world.

Where she went, I would always follow. Where I went, I would drag her kicking and screaming. Such was the volatile, toxic nature of the love we shared that few could understand. It wasn’t built on hearts and flowers, but forged in blood and fire. Consuming everyone who dared to get in the path we set, we’d burn the world to the ground before we allowed anything to separate us.

I loved Gabriel and what he did. I loved his & Isa's bond and wish we'd got to see more of those moments. I loved this series & needless to say I recommend it to anyone who's into psycho OTT J/P heroes who'd to messed up shit to tie heroine to them.

Rarely, if ever, does a multiple book series about the same couple hold my attention from book one til the final book. That was NOT the case with the Beauty In Lies series. I devoured this series and still, I cannot imagine saying goodbye to this couple or the cast of characters I came to love.

Sometimes you run across an author that writes what your soul craves. That's exactly what I felt while reading this series. Adelaide Forrest pushes boundaries, crosses lines, and takes darkness to a new level. Each event, every new twist, and every scene happens naturally and has a purpose. Until you've read the series in its entirety you cannot appreciate all the pieces of the puzzle that had to be organized, addressed, and tied up by the end.

As for the book and the characters:

I just thought we had seen El Diablo in action in the previous books but in Until Death Do Us Part he truly comes out to play. He embraces his title, The Devil, and he follows through on his word of bringing hell to his enemies and those that dare touch his Queen. More than once I found myself cheering and jumping in my seat excited by his words and actions!

Rafe is the ultimate antihero to me. He's dominant, controlling, hardened, frustrating at times, OTT J/P, and yet all of those things are balanced with devotion, loyalty, unconditional love, and the intelligence to know that you cannot keep a bird caged and expect it to soar. In this, we see his growth from book 1 to book 4. Rafe realizes, in order to truly flourish and stand strong at his side, Isa needs her voice heard, she needs to stand as his equal while still recognizing her limitations and she needs to feel respected and not just be mi Reina in title only. In other words, he's not just an alpha-hole dictator that expects compliance, he's a fallible yet open-minded man who wishes to see his woman become the best and strongest she can be and in doing so she brings out the best version of him.

Isa is a force all her own and seeing her transition from that innocent, naive girl in book 1 to the strong, fierce warrior she becomes by the end of the series was epic. Her acceptance and love for her husband despite his unapologetic actions at times, his controlling demeanor, and his dangerous lifestyle make me love her even more. She's just as fierce of a protector as Rafe and we see it so much in this final book.

This series is not for everyone. It's full of triggers and the darker side of romance. That's been common knowledge since the beginning. So do your research before you begin.

I cannot imagine a better ending to a series than Until Death Do Us Part. I will remember these characters and their struggles, sacrifices, and all they overcame for years to come. I truly feel Adelaide Forrest set the bar on anti-heroes with this one. Rafe will be hard to beat!

Oh and make sure you grab that extended epilogue at the end. I promise you WANT to read that! ;)

It could have been gud if Odina's reason was not that lame..!! A 5 year old girl who holds the grudge that the mother saves her twin instead of her... Then she should be angry on mother for that choice not on her twin...
Her choices killed even her mother yet she still blamed it on her twin sis aka our dumb FL... Like I am ok with this coz that's how her personality was mean, a bitch, jealousy, selfish
But her being still stuck to the same thing... I don't know what to say at this point... Did the author portray Odina either too intelligent to plan against her twin or too dumb to not be able to see the whole picture where her decisions killed even her own mother... Or she just needed a reason to hate her sister... For me it was kinda illogical tbh...
I think Odina's character could be a much better FL than Isa for a mafia theme story... For me Isa's character was just not compatible with a character like Rafe.

Rated ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5
Heat: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 5/5
Angst: 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 5/5

This entire series was ace from start to finish! Adelaide brought to life a completely brilliant, emotionally masochistic, dark, and passionately raw masterpiece. Offering up a possessively wicked treat that far too many could never refuse temptation from.

From the beginning the full disclosure was stated. Darkness is what it is, and walking into it you must brace for all things that thrive in it. Rafe and Isa both walked with heads held high in the land of the unseen, ruling their kingdom of ruins.

I lived for this series. The wait was hard, but the anticipation was perfection. Isa owning her spot on the throne and becoming the goddess to end all that even glance that direction, was what I came for. The possessive control and darkness that Rafe brought down upon her is why I read dark tropes. Adelaide is a gift in and of herself to the written world.

What a wild freaking ride this series was! My first from Adelaide Forrest and definitely not the last! She had me hooked from the start of book one and wrapped it up in a nice black bow at the end. Dark and depraved. Twisted and very steamy. Unputdownable!

Leonardo brings Happiness

A couple questions left unanswered. What happened with Dima's twin. Dima brought Isa to see his twin, but when Raphael comes to save her and they take Dima and his father they never mentioned the brother. So what happened to him?????

Also Gabriel leaves and we don't hear what happens to him unless it was a set up for a new series who knows???

Now as for Raphael and Isa they get as much of a HEA as the Devil and his Queen can get.

Rafael and Esa are determined to fight Pavel and make him pay for his crimes, with the devil on his tale this could get gruesome.

If you like them very dark, very steamy, violent, maybe with some hints of abuse, branding, and kidnapping.
If you really aren’t into violence please don’t read this, you’ve been warned

So dark and so bloody good, I’m sad it’s coming to an end, this series has been excellent.
