Ini sirah keempat yang pernah saya baca. Ada beberapa informasi yang lebih rinci yang belum ada di buku sirah sebelumnya seperti detail pengiriman surat-surat Rosullullah ke negara-negara tetangga seperti ke Romawi, Najasi, Persia, dll beserta isi surat-suratnya sekalian. Ternyata pemilihan utusanpun juga disesuaikan dengan negara tujuan, seperti sahabat Dihyah al Kalbi yang diutus ke Romawi yang penuh kemegahan karena kecerdasan dan style-nya yang kira-kira bisa mengimbangi gaya bermasyarakatnya orang Romawi.
Yang menarik juga dari buku ini disertai peta lokasi terjadinya perang/perjanjian dalam cetakan berwarna sehingga cukup lumayan jadi selingan mata

My two favorite categories of Islamic literature in the English language are Qur’an translations and Seerah. In my opinion, these two genres are the litmus test for whether a language has achieved real significance in the realm of Islamic literature. In my limited, layperson reading I have found that there is a broad spectrum of English language Seerah books. This spectrum ranges from rigorously authenticated but less than ideally translated/written at one end and beautifully written/aesthetically pleasing but lacking in true academic strength on the other. “Prophet of Mercy” by Shaykh Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi is the closest that I have found to bridging that gap. Although my personal favorite remains Muhammad by Martin Lings due to the beauty of the writing, this Seerah is authenticated and cited far better than any other I have read. It has academic strength like the English translation of Ar-Raheeq Al Makhthum but delivers it in an effective and at times, beautiful, translation. I came across this particular book while reading Shaykh Bilal Ali Ansari’s extremely thorough book review of another English Seerah, “Revelation” by Meraj Mohuiddin (https://www.google.com/amp/s/bilalali...). In this extensive review Ansari points out areas for improvement in future editions of “Revelation”, many of which Dr Mohuiddin has agreed to incorporate in the future. As part of his critique, Shaykh Bilal provides a copious amount of resources for Seerah in the English language that Dr Mohuiddin could have used instead of the ones quoted in “Revelation”. Relatedly, the citations from this review are a must-read for anyone looking for good Seerah resources. As with all translations, I am sure some of the original sentiment and literary quality of “Prophet of Mercy” was lost. However, the translation is clearly very intentional and strives to deliver the feeling of the author. This comes as no surprise as the translation was done by a dedicated student of Shaykh Nadwi. This is important because although it is very academic and thorough, it still conveys Shaykh Nadwi’s ardent love for the Prophet (SAW) and passion for the field of Seerah. Shaykh Nadwi’s commentary on the life of Prophet (SAW) are priceless and set this book apart from many other contemporary works. Unfortunately too many English Seerah genre books strike an overly apologetic tone which take away from the value of a Prophetic biography. While Shaykh Nadwi does relate the Seerah to today’s world, he doesn’t explain away anything for fear of upsetting a modern audience. I would highly recommend this book as an important resource for anyone trying to understand the life of the Prophet (SAW) in the context of Arabia at that time as well as how his life and lessons relate to us today.

It is essential for Muslims to engage with works of sirah as it familiarizes us with our prophet ﷺ, creates love for him, and allows us to take lessons and guidance for our own lives.
This work is a great place to start. It is academic yet easily readable. It has footnotes and references yet it doesn't go into deep tangents, staying concise and focusing on the topic at hand.
One of the very unique things about this work is that it explains in detail the conditions of the world *before the messenger ﷺ. This context is extremely valuable. Understanding the time, place, and people the messenger ﷺ was sent to makes us appreciate even moreso the gravity of his mission and his perfection in accomplishing it.
I learnt alot of new words throughout the book. Though it did seem slightly difficult at times, I felt the word usage created a sense of awe which one could argue the biography of the noble prophet ﷺ ought to have.

My reason for not giving the full 5 stars is just two things. The first is that there were a couple times where incidents are mentioned in brief leaving out names of sahabis or details about the event. Or leaving out different small incidents that occur. This is not necessarily a problem because the author is covering the entire sirah in one book so perepheral things may be described in brief or left out. It just felt odd as an incident would be put briefly but then another small detail would be expounded in several paragraphs.
Of course it makes sense as well, because the explanations do contain gems and lessons. I believe the author must have had insight in which details he chose to summarize and which ones he chose to explain more.
The second thing was that although the writing was beautiful for the most part, it did feel a bit blocky at times. I guess I personally felt there was a lack of flow in certain passages.
Also I want to say I wouldn't call this a review, just some interesting points about the book and personal thoughts I had. This is a work of a great alim and I am not fit to critique it lol.

سيدنا محمد عليه الصلاة و السلام
مقدمة الكتاب جذبتني بشكل كبير
و يبدأ المؤلف بعرض حالة المجتمع قبل ظهور الاسلام بل و قبل ميلاد النبي .. و يتعرض للحضارات و الامبراطوريات التي كانت موجوده في ذلك الوقت .. و يتناول هذا في حوالي 100 صفحة قبل تناوله مولد النبي عليه الصلاة و السلام
و هناك باب في نهاية الكتاب بعنوان
فضل البعثة المحمدية على الإنسانية
لابد للجميع من قرائته .. كان قلبي يخفق بشدة أثناء قرائته
حيث تجلت لي أشياء كثيرة لم أكن مدركها قبل اليوم

الكتاب جيد جدا لمن لم يقرأ في السيرة من قبل , صفحاته قليلة و مختصر
لكن لمن قرأ فيها من قبل خصوصا هدي السيرة النبوية سيظلم الندوي في التقييم ,
ملحوظة : خرائط الكتاب استعانت به هدى اللحام ف كتابها
و يبقى جمال الكتاب الاساسي فيتناوله لسيرة الحبيب ..
و نحيا معه صلى الله عليه و سلم
جزا الله الشيخ عنا خير الجزاء

Everything about the Seerah of Rasool Allah (s) is beautiful. This book, like other Seerah books, is written beautifully. The only two things that need improvement are for the translator. The translator could have written Allah, instead of God, and Prophet (s), or Messenger (s), instead of Apostle.

So concise and accurate. Such an easy read for anyone who wishes to indulge in a brief biography of the prophet Mohammed pbuh. Very emotional towards the end. A brilliant read!

إن القراءة نظرا وتفكيرا لهو اجدي وأنفع وخاصة عندما تنظر وتمحص سير النبلاء واعظهم على الإطلاق هو رسولنا الكريم صلى الله عليه وسلم، فإنه عملا بمبدأ بائع الطيب فإن فاتك المال لم يفوتك رائحتها فإن قراءة السيرة النبوية الشريفة تأخذك من عالمك إلى عالم المثالية والكمال البشري إلى من أدبه ربه فأحسن تأديبه إلى من كان خلقه القرآن كل هذا يحاط بعالم يموج بعواصف الجاهلية وفي حاجة ماسة إلى منار ينير درب الإنسانية ويمحو آثار عصور ابتعد العالم عن الدين وألتجا لاباطيل وخرافات....
منهج الكاتب :
اعتمد الكاتب في دراسته منهجية بحثية وليست مجرد سرد لسيرة أو ترجمة لحياة وهذا أثر على حجم المادة المعروضة وكثافتها وان كان فيها من الاختصار فليس بالمخل وانما اختصار يدل عليه فهرس الكتاب قبل القراءة..

I read this book in Arabic. Beautifully written, easy to read and I'm glad that this book was translated to many languages as it's such a good seerah (biography) of the prophet Peace be Upon Him.

Prophet of Mercy (Nabiyy-i Rahmat) is the biography (Seerah) of Prophet Muhammed ﷺ written by Shayk Abul Hasan ‘Alī Nadwī. He was a leading islamic scholar from the Indian subcontinent and also served as President of All India Muslim Personal Law Board. He dedicated one complete year (October 1975-October 1976) for the mammoth job of compiling and authoring the book on the biography of the Prophet ﷺ. His intention as he mentioned in the Author’s introduction was to write in “style intelligible to modern minds, utilising both the modern and ancient sources”. From my experiences as a reader, I have enjoyed this style of structure compared to all the other works that are out there. It is so beautifully written that the authors words radiates his love for the prophet ﷺ. It moves every bit in you and sometimes make you weep feeling the struggles that the Prophet ﷺ and his companions had faced. Every chapter is written keeping in mind the time of an event that took place in the life of Prophet ﷺ, Shayk Abul Hasan ‘Alī Nadwī also guided us through his words with political, cultural and climatic backgrounds which was not done so effectively in any other book on the Seerah. In any Seerah book, the farewell chapter is the hardest to read, it took me a few days to get to it and the way it is written in this book breaks your heart. SubhanAllah! never a human can ever have and impact like that of Prophet Muhammed ﷺ.
May Allah ﷻ bless Shayk Abul Hasan ‘Alī Nadwī with the highest station in Jannah and May He ﷻ include him among the groups that are most dearer to Him ﷻ on the Day of Resurrection. Ameen.

قراءة وعرض للسيرة النبوية من مصادر متنوعة، تشمل الإسلامي والغربي الكافر، يتناول جوانب اجتماعية تفرد بها عن بقية السير، وإن غلب عليه الاختصار في الأحداث والتعريض في بعضها، أغلب المعلومات التي قرأتها فيه من السيرة مألوفة ولكن أعجبتني الأضواء الجديدة التي ألقاها المؤلف رحمه الله على بعض الأحداث والمواقف.
أيضًا وجدت بعض الأحداث المُرجّح تضعيفها عند أهل الحديث مثل واقعة نسج العنكبوت في الهجرة، ونوم علي رضي الله عنه في فراش النبي قُبيلها، وإن كان الكتاب لا يعوزه التحقيق على عادة مؤلفه رحمه الله.
الكتاب ممتع إجمالا والنصوص مستقاة في غالبها من نصوص الأحاديث والآثار، مع فصاحة المؤلف وحسن بيانه، وإن لم يكن الرائد في مجال السير.

Alhamdulillah.. Buku sirah ini cukup seimbang antara periwayatan dari sumber-sumber terpercaya dan uraian hikmah dan komentar dari sang penulis.. Nilai tambah buku ini adalah penekanan sang penulis pada sifat rahmat kenabian, sumber-sumber yang cukup beragam, termasuk dari penulis-penulis Barat (namun tetap dapat dipertanggungjawabkan) dan juga elemen-elemen pelengkap seperti peta-peta kejadian di masa nabi, uraian syamail (teladan perilaku dan akhlak Nabi shallallahu alaihi wa sallam) di bagian akhir.

يبدأ الكتاب في عرض البلاد والحضارات والأمم والإمبراطوريات التي سبقت الإسلام ببضعة قرون ثم يذكر طبيعة الجزيرة العربية وأهلها ومراكز عمرانها وحضارتها وذكر الحالة الإقتصادية والاجتماعية والثقافة والآداب في مكة، ويتناول السيرة النبوية من مصادر عدة تشمل المصادر الإسلامية والغربية، الكتاب مناسب لمن لم تسبق له القراءة في السيرة النبوية .

Pretty good biography and it went in great detail. I love how it showed maps and cross-referenced other books. I had never read about his life before and I'm glad I did.

كتاب مفيد للمبتدئين في دراسة السيرة. تربوي، و ملخص (أكثر من اللازم؟ في بعض المواضع مثل غزوة خيبر ). بأسلوب سلس و دون تكلف. الخرائط الجغرافية التوضيحية و التواريخ الميلادية الموافقة أضفت واقعية أكثر لتذكرنا بأن أحداث سيرة خاتم النبيين أقرب زمنيا من التصور الأسطوري الذي لدينا أحيانا.

كتاب قيم، ثري بالمعلومات ومنقح وكبداية للسيرة أنصح به.
فلا يسعني القول في هذا الكتاب سوى أنه زادني فوق حب المحبين حباً لنبي الرحمة عليه الصلاة والسلام.
على الرغم من أنه مختصراً للسيرة إلا أنه قد أوفى حق صفحاته اللاتي يقاربن الستمئة وخمسين صفحة. ولكن تمنيت في كثير من المواضع لو أنه تم التطرق لكامل القصة أو الحدث بدلاً من وضع مرجع ولكن لو قام الكاتب بذلك لاحتاج لمجلدات كي يتسع كمِّ القصص والسير. فعموماً قرأته كأول كتاب للسيرة وقد أعطاني لمحة شاملة عن حياة الحبيب وعن حال الأمم حين قدومه فالحمدلله الذي وفقني وأعانني على قرائته

أي كتاب عن السيرة النبوية الشريفة يستحق 5 نجوم
والمميز في هذا الكتاب أنه منبسط كالسهل الممتنع، يسرد الوقائع متخللاً الأحاديث النبوية الشريفة وما جاء على ألسنة ساداتنا الصحابة بدون ذكر للسند أو الرواية، بلغة سلسة سليمة بلا غلو مع تشكيل صحيح وشرح بسيط لبعض المفردات في الهوامش، وهذا ما يجعله مناسباً للأولاد في المرحلة الإعدادية، وفي رأيي أن هذا الكتاب يستحق أن يُدرس في التعليم الأساسي لأنه لا يقل قيمة -بل يزيد- ولا لغة عن قصة مثل واإسلاماه.
اللهم صلّ وسلّم وبارك على سيدنا وحبيبنا ومولانا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه أجمعين..

كتاب مفيد لطيف متوسط الحجم، الشيخ الندوي قال في مقدمته أن الكتاب لطلاب أو سن الثانوية، وأنا أرى أنه الآن ينفع سن الجامعة لاختلاف الثقافة ودرجة المعرفة للأجيال، الكتاب سلس وبسيط لغةً ومحتوى، الخرائط مفيدة وبتساعد علي التصور.
ينفع كمقدمة في السيرة لكن لو حد قرأ قبل كدة لن يستفيد إلا القليل.

كتاب ممتاز ، لغته سهلة ميسرة وجذابة ، تميز بخرائطه ، واختصار غير مخل في بعض الموضوعات، كما تناول الكاتب بالبحث شمائل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ، ومميزات دعوته وفضلها على البشرية
