Ghosttown East #1

The Enforcer

Rate this book
Single mom, Trini Hanson, is surviving. She works hard to pay her bills and raise her daughter, finding peace and a sense of family surrounded by the love and safekeeping of her brother’s motorcycle club, the Ghosttown Riders. But dealing with her deadbeat ex has left her exhausted, fed up, and in need of a vacation. Her daughter’s trip to summer camp is just the ticket. Trini sets her sights on rest, relaxation, and fun. Apparently, she’s set her aspirations too high.

When Trini’s path veers into Ghosttown East MC territory, she’s caught between ensuring her ex’s safety for the sake of her daughter and a dangerous liaison her heart won’t let her refuse. She is tied to club life as the little sister of an MC member, and she knows the rules and follows them. Her love and loyalty will always rest with her brother, who practically raised her, and his MC, who created a haven for her and her daughter. But Trini never imagined the overpowering strength, care, and wide-open potential she found in one kiss from Roan.

Ex-con and Enforcer, feared by all who cross his path, Roan Harris has earned his title and position in the Ghosttown Riders East. As a highly-respected member of the club since the age of eighteen, Roan is the epitome of loyalty and willingness, acting on his club’s behalf whenever he’s asked. The last thing he expected was to have a woman he’s been obsessing over fall into his arms.

But with Trini comes chaos, including butting heads with a brother in another charter, an ex indebted to his club, and a child. Handling Trini Hanson and her problems may be monumental tasks, but Roan is inclined to do whatever it takes as long as it doesn’t involve letting her go.

After months of sly, smoldering glances and midnight fantasies on both sides, it all comes to a head in the perfect storm. A battle of club against club, a threat against Trini and her daughter, and a showdown of enforcer against enforcer. But Roan understands gut-deep that this is the role he was born to play. He’s about to show everyone that whoever threatens him, his woman, or her child will see exactly why they call him The Enforcer.

Amelia Shea writes contemporary romance. She released her debut novel in 2015, and has followed her passion for series romance ever since. Her writing style includes a little sweet, a little sassy and lots of steam. She loves building stories with settings that become comfortable and familiar, and developing characters who feel real, and though they may be flawed, they learn and grow, and finally deserve a happy ending. When she is not writing, she is obsessed with reading (all genres although she does has a soft spot for romance), coffee (it's more of an addiction but she prefers obsession) and perfecting her "y'all" (just a northern girl living in the south).

I'm here for the enforcer which reputation precedes him going soft or rather being real and in full protective alpha mode for his woman and her daughter.
This had the grit of a MC premise with very sweet moments which is the perfect balance for this romance reader.

Quick(ish) Review

I've been gravitating towards MC romances again, after a long hiatus. It's a very particular subdivision of Romancelandia that gets a bit rowdy and messy and sometimes, that just what you want. Lemme 'splain.

This is solidly in the 3 out of 5 on the WTFery scale. They're bikers, they're into shady stuff and they're not afraid to throw down when the situation calls for it, BUT it's mostly pre- and post- WTFery, there's little that's explicitly on page. The club's like that guy that makes you feel dangerous but also safe. Needless to say, it's got all the MC fixings - misogyny, violence, threats, scantily clad ladies, references to past abuse, neglect.

There’s some very sweet moments, including those where Roan connects with Trini’s daughter. The epilogue was a nice touch even if I thought it needed a little more detail. Which brings me to this…

What I didn't like was it ALL felt a little sketched out, not fully formed. I didn't realize it's a spinoff series and there's a bunch of people with similar sounding names and backstory that's never fully explained and I suspect if I'd read the earlier series first, I would have a better understanding of Trini and Roan - he doesn't speak much but he's completely into her, and the physical connection is clear, just not sure about the emotional connection. Since I didn't have that backstory straight, I didn't know them beyond this book. I had a hard time distinguishing between supporting players beyond their names.

All in all, it's an average MC read. I may check out the other books because I'm curious, just not sure how much of a rush I'm in, though. We'll see.

Great start to the new series!

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: protector, heroine in peril
Angst: 😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥1\2

Another great read by Amelia Shea! I loved how the first book was kind of a cross over between the two chapters ❤. Tons on action and suspense and I felt the two MCs had some great chemistry. I love reading about MMCs who take on and love their woman's child like they were their own :)

The Enforcer is spoken in the third person (which I don't like) and the author had made the grammatical misstep of changing (mixing up) the characters, and with so many other characters sometimes I didn’t know (and neither did the author) know who she was referring to, there were he and he instead of he and she, some of the characters names are too similar: Macy – Marcy, Trini – Trista, Roan – Rourke, and at one point the author substituted Trini’s name with Trista. The author reiterates everything over and over in the first half and it becomes quite laborious, but it does read better in the second half.

Details are very important to a story and for me, I devour and store the information away and bring it to light when I need it so when the author says that Roan is 6”4 maybe 6”5 broad, thick muscular arms etc I picture a tall man and when Trini is described as 5”4 I’m picturing her as rather petite beside Roan so what really grated on my nerves is when the author takes ridiculous liberties in describing how Trini nuzzles into Roan's neck, or when Trini kisses his temple, logistically this is impossible while these characters are standing. There are other discrepancies too, I want to know why the author didn’t pick this up? Why didn’t the editor pick this up?

I was very happy to see the author not have EVERYONE as hot or handsome, even Roan but what sold it for me was his intensity, protectiveness, and that he wasn’t an obvious womanizer.

While the EPILOGUE filled us in on Roan, Trini’s and Emme lives eleven years later it’s not a full account of their family which left me disappointed, I mean, why bother including part of the family and leaving the other half out

DNF

I really wanted to like this book but I ended up skimming to the point of “why am I still reading this.” This is more about personal preference…the book was cohesive and had all the MC qualities. It was not bad per se.
The first 1/4 of the book was hanging out in Trini’s head while she drooled over Roan to the point of zoning out of conversations with her friends. I get that, but I did that when I was in high school. Trini is this young, mature mom who went through some hard relationship lessons with her baby daddy and that reaction (pretty much every time she saw him) was just not realistic to me. And they hadn’t even officially met each other.

So I skimmed a lot and my head was just not into it.

I liked both the plot as well as the characters with in the novel. How ever it was confusing at times, i had to cover over what i read to try to make out what was going on in some parts. The names also lacked imagination, they were too identical. Rogue, Roan, Rourke... Any way it was a good read, and i would love to read more of the series and other characters.

There were so many things wrong with this story in the beginning, especially with the FMC, that I almost gave up.
1. How the hell does a 31 years old man & a 25 year old woman eye fuck each other for six months straight, learn each others names through sources, but never actually introduce yourselves? How? Six months and not even a hi?
2. This girl got pregnant at 19, marries the father of her child, and for the next five years he does nothing but cheat on her with countless women, spends all of their money on strippers, and gets another woman pregnant before she finally calls it quits. Then, he refuses to sign the divorce papers for over a year because he doesn’t want to pay child support, stands their daughter up multiple times, and never sends the mom any money. They meet up, he gives her $200 for the last year and half of her taking care of their daughter alone, says he’s signing over his parental rights, and that’s he’s in $20k worth of debt and needs her to loan him the money. Mind you, when he had his hands on $20k, she never saw a dime of it for their child. She gets upset and tells him she’s not accepting him signing over his rights and that he needs to get it together.
3. The men he owes money to breaks into her rental for the week thinking the ex is there and she decides to reach out to them and ask for an extension for him because he’s her child’s father and her daughter needs her father. You know the one that doesn’t provide for her financially and stands the little girl up every couple months when he decides to lie and say he’s coming to get her. That father.
COME THE FUCK ON!!!
NOTHING brought me more joy than when Gunner read her for filth when she asked for the extension. Someone needed to say it!!! For her to say she’s doing it for her daughter is BS. She’s spent her entire life waiting for her Dad to be a good Dad and stick around and now she’s subjecting her daughter to the same fate by not just letting her ex go.
Thank God it didn’t take long for Gunner’s words to resonate with her and she began to see reason and started singing a different tune because I was ready o throw in the towel just because of her stupidity.
I wish we would’ve heard more about the kids they ended up having together in the epilogue but instead it was all about Emme at 17. It was sweet, but I would’ve liked to hear more about the two boys they had together.

I have been looking forward to this book for months and it was well worth the wait.

Trini is the sister of the Enforcer for Ghosttown Riders and Roan is the Enforcer for Ghosttown East. Things have been slightly strained between the two clubs since the sort of kidnapping of Vada in The Outlaw.

These two have been tip toeing around each other for about 6 months. Things come to head when it comes out that Trinis ex husband owes East money and she goes to talk to them.

Absolutely loved how they all accepted her daughter.

BUT my absolute favourite part of this book was the Epilogue. My heart! It was so beautiful the interaction between Emme and Roan 11 years later 😍. I don't want to give too much away.

Yet ANOTHER book where the h’s so-called “friends” are pushing her to “get laid” after a break-up when it’s crystal clear that she is NOT interested in a ONS. One quarter of the way through the book and that’s all that’s happened. Over and over. *yawn*

This started out a solid 4 star read but Trini ruined it for me. The definition of stupid: Doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results. Trini did finally get it but I was tired of her excuses for all the POS men in her life by then. Roan kept the book going so I could finish it. Everybody tried to tell her Jake was worthless but she was just too stupid/weak to understand. The writing is good....I might look at the next book in hopes the main characters aren't too frustrating.

Couldn't get into this book because of the writing. It's 3rd person, then 1st person. It's part of a series. I was confused when I started reading because I couldn't understand the two clubs.

Mediocre start to this spin off (luckily it doesn’t last, book 2 is awesome). The h was just stupid, there was any motivation for the stupid decisions she made in the present day.

Not interesting enough to make me want to carry on with the series and that says a lot about an MC book series for me. It even had one of my favorite tropes (single mom).

Trini has been surviving (not thriving) for years, but she is facing her first two weeks alone in half a decade after dropping her six-year-old daughter off at camp! Since leaving her deadbeat ex, her brother’s MC, Ghosttown, has been a safe haven. However, her vacation lands her squarely in the territory of Ghosttown East, and though she has always had a healthy fear of East, she harbors a growing obsession with Roan, the highly-respected enforcer. As Roan and Trini finally get their chance to get to know each other, they face hurdles at every step, from his club, from her brother’s, and from outsiders. But Roan doesn’t take threats lying down, and from the moment he and Trini get together he is determined to show her what type of man she truly deserves.

Motorcycle romances just work for me, especially when the love interests have such an understanding and display of mutual respect. Roan is so compassionate and respectful of Trini - as a mother, a woman, and a partner. Trini has been in the MC world for years, but she never assumes anything of Roan and accepts all of who he is without question. There is a little violence, a lot of steam, and so many strong emotions from the cast of characters. This was a recommendation from a recent @fatedmatespod episode and I definitely plan on reading more from this series!

After reading a couple of duds from a different MC series by a different author, I’m so happy to have chosen this book.

It held all the elements of a good MC romance. There’s the alpha biker, a fiery woman, love and kids, danger and threats, illegal acts and club devotion, it was great.

I liked the pacing and the story line. I liked Roman’s character and Trina’s character. I loved the dynamic between Emme and Roan. And I loved the epilogue 11 years later, though I wish the author included small details like the names of the boys. But oh well.
I guess there are idiots like Jake’s character in real life but I found him not only disgusting as we are supposed to but unrealistic. Would an asshole and idiot really be that stupid? Maybe…but the author really made Jake unredeemable from the first meeting. You’re not supposed to like him and there’s no conflict at all, no redeeming quality, no real conflict considering Jake was handled through the whole book, he didn’t present the danger by surprising East (the MC) and its members with much of anything. So you don’t really feel scared for Roan at any point in the last confrontation. Which is great for an easy story but could’ve been added to give the book more intrigue or depth.
It was still a good read though.

There are typos, however, so this could use a good editing run.

sweet and lightly dark romance.

This was a cute MC romance with a moderate amount of grit featuring single mother, Trini, dealing with a deadbeat ex, who falls in love with Roan, the enforcer of a rival MC (to her beloved brother’s MC). Trini has a record of trusting horrible men and her brother fears this is one more in the line especially since Trini’s ain’t-ish ex has issues with Roan’s MC and is willing to sell her and her child out to save himself.

I really enjoyed this. It has instalove-y vibes but I think the author kind of teases and delays the instant attraction so it feels more believable and more like the characters got to know each other a bit before falling full on in love. I liked that the couple was always a united front and that the conflicts in the novel were never between them but kind of them facing external issues. This was therefore a somewhat calming and relaxing book to read if not for the gratuitous violence, illegal activity and gritty MC romance vibes. It’s my first book by this author but I’m into checking out more in the series. I think this is a spin-off series from the Ghosttown Riders series which I haven’t read, but I’ll continue with this spin-off first as I’m now somewhat invested in it.

Great read

This is the first book I've read by this author and it won't be the last.
I enjoyed this story immensely, the author gave such intriguing details into the lives of her characters which made me want to know more and keep turning page after page.

The characters are flawed in many ways yet as the story grows so do the characters.

The storyline was compelling and kept me wanting to know more about not only the main characters but also the side characters to.
Trinny I could relate to in so many ways . As a single parent I know the struggles that Trinny faced on a daily basis raising a child on your own without support was a very daunting task she was determined to give her daughter the lifestyle she never had.

I loved Roan and his quite ways only seeing to be heard and seen whenever it suited him . He loved his club and his brothers and that was all he needed until he layed eyes on his girl Trinny.

Trinny ex husband was a waste of space and constantly got himself into trouble expecting Trinny to get him out of it using any means necessary to make his problems go away. He's one character you love to hate .
I look forward to reading more in this series

Roan Harris has become infatuated with Trini Hanson. Roan is part of the Ghosttown Riders East and has been biding his time before acting on his feelings for Trini. Partly because he wants to make sure the feeling is returned but mainly Trini is the sister of Ghosttown Riders Enforcer and after East's leadership takes a turn, things between the clubs are still being worked out.

Single mom, Trini is feeling lost with her daughter at camp for two weeks. Encouraged by her friends, she watches Roan but would he act on it. It seems they keep bumping into one another, but finding out Trini's ex is into East for money he clearly doesn't have Trini tries to bargain with them. Some tough love is given but Roan makes it clear it is out of her hands. Roan and Trini get closer though and he knows she is going to be in his life for a long time. What happens though when another wrench is thrown at them? Will they weather the storm?

Excellent read, new to me series and I was completely blown away by this book. Roan is a gritty character who has a not so clean past and while he worries he is not good enough for Trini she surprises him at every turn. Really liked Trini and paired with Roan a new favorite couple for me. Definitely reading more in this series.

I was excited to start this spin off series when I saw that it was with Trini and Roan. In the last Ghosttown book we saw peeks of this attraction and I was intrigued. East is different than the main club, a little harder, so it was going to be interesting to see how things went and I wanted some one good for Trini, with all the shit she's been through she deserved a good guy and that is what she got with Roan.

Things were a bit bumpy at the start, both of them wanted the other but there was more and both had to be honest with the other, a hard thing. Trini was embarrassed with her ex and how long she let him walk all over her, Roan with the things he did for the club and in his past. But with explanations each understood the other. which was a good thing as others threw out half truths while trying to get one or the other to end things.

In the end Trini and Roan placed their faith in each other and go through things. Roan made sure that she and Emme were safe and Trini gave Roan something he didn't think he would ever have, a family. The both won in the end.

Trini and Roan

I’m not sure if I’m reading this series wrong and there was a series before it. As once you start you find out about the other MCs so not sure if they all have their own series or not. Anyway Amelia Shea is a new author for me and this book was recommended on kindle. Since I’m on a MC romance binge I thought why not.
I’m actually liking the way Ghosttown east are and their characters are definitely a perfect combination for a MC.

Trini has grew up with a MC with her brother being part of one. And this is where I may have to look into Amelia Shea and her collection.
Makes sense if it started with Ghosttown first.
Anyway Trini’s character fell into this story beautifully and the chemistry between her and Roan was what you definitely expect and more. He maybe this big bad enforcer but around Trini he just a big loveable teddy bear with big muscles and loads of tattoos.
Very swoon worthy, entertaining and plenty of action. Fab start to this series. Highly recommend.

Ghosttown East...let’s have it!!!

Fantastic start to this series. The Enforcer brings us Roan and Trini’s story, and what a great story it was. Both characters appeared in the original Ghosttown Riders MC. Trini being Rourke’s sister and Roan a member of East. No two characters deserved a happy ending more. Trini was a favourite for me, simply due to the person she was, selfless, loving and protective. Roan was always intriguing, the silent but deadly type. All alpha and all male!
The chemistry between them was off the charts and the fact that any relationship could cause further tension between the two MC’s added that extra element to this book.
The authors work is described as a little sweet a little spicy and who whole lot steamy - that certainly describes this book. Not overly dramatic, but plenty of emotional scenes and lots of giggles along the way. Can’t wait to fall in love with the rest of the Ghosttown East brothers and their unsuspecting leading ladies!

Trina and Roan

Two unlikely people from two different clubs. Once they locked eyes with each other it always happened. Whether Roan was looking for her or vice versa and any club get together. She was in so deep with her feelings but too scared to make that move. Roan being the Enforcer of his club knew the rules of club life and found that Trina was the sister of the Enforcer for another club. How will these two with an attraction like they have cross that line. How will they be able to make it. And not only that but Trina had a little girl and an ex she was trying to divorce. Will sparks fly in all the right directions or will it explode. So grab your copy and enjoy the ride. This is one you don’t want to miss.

Loved every minute of this book

I really loved reading every bit of this book, from start to finish the characters just draw you into their story.
Roan the enforcer for the Ghosttown east MC, had Trinis attention, but six months later she was in his bed. And it wasnt due to her husbands asking, Her ex was a douch bag didnt care about Trini or Emme, all he cared about was getting money. But when Roan steps up to the plate and falls in love with her, its a match between them both that will see enforcer against enforcer. Will Roan make everything right between them all and at the same time protect Trini and Emme from her ex.?

This is a book that you wont be able to put down its just that good. Enjoy
