Heather MacKinnon is a USA Today best-selling romance author living in North Carolina with her husband, adorable son, and three trouble making dogs. She grew up on Long Island and spent her young adult years living in various states in New England. This led to her subsequent addiction to Dunkin’ Donuts lattes and her gratuitous use of the word “wicked”. After a lifetime of enjoying other people’s words, she decided to write down some of her own.
I always enjoy the Novellas of the southern werewolf series they're a nice quick read and always end with a HEA. I liked the fact that Luke was a single dad to twins before Evey it was a nice change to the usual fated mates story.
Evelyn was the youngest of her 5 siblings, she'd seen them all find their fated mates, have kids and live happily. It was all she wanted but as time went by she thought it was something that might not happen after all for her. When Luke showed up in the middle of the night after fleeing his ex with two twin girls he had nothing to his name. The pack took him in no questions asked and put his skills to work in exchange for food and board, it was dream come true. Evey did all she could to help the struggling father with the two young girls and they began developing feelings but eventually his toxic ex would break their happy little bubble. She turned up out of nowhere demanding to be back in theirs and lukes life, something he definitely didn't want. Evey decided to head to Charlotte and spend some time with her sister but being away from Luke the signs of fate quickly began to show with the distance between them. On her way back to him Evey was in a car accident which nearly cost her life she was determined to make it back to luke and the girls especially when she overheard her attacker mentioning it was the girls mother Holly who put him up to the task. Luckily for Evey she had a strong pack behind her and her mate. Together they'd deal with Holly once and for all so she'd never be a problem again.
Evey is the last unmated sibling in the McCoy family and she has a strong yearning to be mated with little ones. A new pack member has arrived named Luke with twin daughters. The fourth member is missing and Evey will find out why later. He came with only the clothes on their backs and his vehicle indicating his leaving was an emergency. They set him up with everything they will need including a job. Luke felt horrible for taking things from this family and felt pretty low he could not give back except through his carpentry skills. When Evey discovers the true reasons, he left it breaks her heart but makes her determined. When things are getting interesting between Luke and her, his past shows right up in the nick of time to make it grind to a halt! A past he wants nothing to do with! How will he handle it? How will Evey? How will the person who has made life a true nightmare for Luke and the girls handle things? Someone will leave Evey in a life-changing situation and will take what is hers or his…will they survive it? This is definitely the next story that is the best next to Bea’s~ You do not want to miss Evey’s story~ Heather MacKinnon did a beautiful job that I applaud in giving this story extra special attention~
I was given an Arc of this book for an honest review. Heather MacKinnon is a new author to me, and let me tell you, based on this one book, I am hooked. Even though this is book 5 in a series, I had no problem picking it up and knowing everything I needed to know about the characters involved. There is enough detail throughout, that you do not need to read the other books to understand anything going on. With that being said, I would recommend you start at book 1, "Shift," because Heather is just that enjoyable - you WILL want to read them all.
From the get go, "Earning Evey" moves at a steady pace, I didn't want to put it down - and I didn't. The characters are well rounded, and ride emotional arcs. MacKinnon does a great job in weaving three stories together, Evey's, Luke's and Evey and Luke's. I was almost disappointed. The story seemed too easy. Then BAM! MacKinnon threw a left hook into the story and brought me on a bit of a roller coaster ride of emotion to the finish.
Her style is just what I like as a reader. I even laughed out loud and shed a tear or two. The story had a nice pace, it didn't wear me down with too much info. It was really enjoyable.
Evey is working hard welcoming new pack members, finding them housing. She is told there are new pack members that have showed up. Eveyfinds a man with two young children. She is immediately drawn to him and the children. Evey will help Luke and his daughter find their place among the pack. Evie, Luke and the children start forming a bond. Evey is showing Luke what life could be like when you are with someone that gives. Evey and Luke's world is thrown in chaos with the arrival of his wife. Evey is forced to realize what the Luke and the kids mean to her, but there are dangerous forces at play.
This was such a beautiful story to end the Sister series with. Evey just wanted what her sister's found, her mate. She doesn't think it will ever come to pass until Luke enters her life. The twist and turns that occur in this book are so good. You will go through so many emotions while reading this story, you will be done before you are ready. This is the perfect sister to wrap up the sister series. I highly recommend reading this story series
Evey McCoy was hoping she would find her mate at last, but it didn’t happen and she settled with an old friend. She had no idea her world would be turned upside-down when a stranger arrived with his two children, Mari and Maggie.
Luke Adams is the dad of twins, but their mom was abusing them. He takes his children and runs to keep them safe. Not only did he find a place where they fit in, but he met Evey and eventually allowed her into his heart. They made a wonderful family together. Then the worst thing happened – his ex showed up to destroy everything. Can Luke do anything to protect his new family? Or will he end up losing everyone he loves?
Be ready to hold on to your emotions as the twists and turns to their story have you gripping your chair in frustration. Grab your copy and see if something so good can be ripped away from all of them. Or will Fate keep them together?
Evey was probably my fave character of all the sisters! LOL The way the author wrote about her in every book in the series just made it feel like she was dynamite & a pistol...everyone knows dynamite comes in a small package but packs a blast!
I wish (& I hope the author sees this) that there is another story about the Southern Werewolf family that maybe involves something about each of them involved in having to come together as a family to defend their packs! I feel like I didn't get enough of an ending for Del & Evey, especially Evey. I want to know if she has more kids with Luke! And Callie's kids were never properly introduced so outside of knowing she had 3, there really wasn't much more said unless they were having a meltdown!
BUT, I love this series and will be watching for more from this author! I'm a fan and now on to the Enforcer series! Idk who does her covers but dang...almost makes you want to be a werewolf! Hahaha
Heather Mackinnon has left me Hanging, I need to know more about Luke and Evey’s Lives, I need more of the adorable Twins and the Whole Pack. Heather has written another wonderful book that sucks you In and leaves you breathless.
Luke, a single father of twin girls, is doing the best he can and hoping for a fresh start within this new pack, Broken but not shattered, can Luke see that there is more to Evey than meets the eyes. Can she be the one to mend his broken spirit?
Evey is the Epitome of what every woman should be: caring, nurturing, and beautiful, but Evey is yearning for what all her packmates have found. Love eternal, but when a Broken and Scared Luke turns up on the pack's doorstep will Evey realize what she was missing is now found, or will she still be a lost soul in the darkness looking for her Light at the End of the tunnel?
This book was recommended by a friend and after I read it I immediately purchased and read book 1 of the series. I highly suggest reading the entire series, but this book hit so many emotions. Just when everything seems to finally be working out for Evey...there comes trouble. It kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to come next. The sexy scenes are steamy without getting uncomfortably raunchy like some other books I have read. MacKinnon really knows how to write and make you instantly care about the characters. I feel like I could be friends with the characters because they are so realistic.
I couldn't put it down and suggest you don't pick it up right before bedtime because you will want to keep reading.
Wow! I absolutely Loved Earning Evey! Heather MacKinnon has done it again! She is such a phenomenal author. I had been anxiously awaiting Evey's story, and was not disappointed. I can't say enough positive things about this book, or this whole series for that matter. Heather has taken me on many journey's threw her books, and Earning Evey was just as emotional as her other stories. I laugh, cry, and fall in love right along with her characters. I love Evey's relationship with Mari and Maggie, and the way she embraces a maternal role from the get go. I am sad that the, Southern Werewolf Sisters, story's have come to an end in this series. But I am once again anxiously awaiting her next written work of art. And I can't wait to see what journey she takes me on next.
This is absolutely a riviting story. You are hooked right away and can not put it down. I loved the characters, and a fated mate bond can never be denied. It is very well written and the storyline is amazing. Evey was about to give up on love. She was the last of her siblings to not have a mate. She settles into a safe relationship then she finally finds her mate. Luke is her fated mate and boy there is no stopping their relationship. She is everything he ever wanted as he is for her. This is their story!! I highly recommend this book, but make sure you have time to read it all. You can't put it down!!!
This is a really good story that I was completely glued to until the very end. It is a bit of an emotional roller coaster read with some drama, laugh out loud bits and definitely said ones too. Evey is the last of her siblings that is not mated. She wants that and everything that comes with it but she has settled not thinking she has a true mate out there. That is until Luke shows up with his almost two year old twins and nothing else. They are all trying to adjust until his psycho ex shows up for their birthday. Then a tragedy occurs. This is a good story with some action, suspense and good twists.
This is a heart breaking storyline Like has taken his twin daughters and has come to settle a new life with a new pack to save them from abuse, is guarded. Evey want to meet the man she was ment to be with but he never existed so she has settled with a friend. When these two meet is starts a chain reaction of events. This is filled with drama, heart break, abuse, danger, suspense, intrigue, family, chemistry and love.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book was so very good! That doesn't even really do it justice. I read it very quickly because I could NOT put it down once I started reading it. Evey was already one of my favorite characters and so I was very excited to read her story. Her story was very well written, I loved the characters and that Heather Mackinnon has the ability to make her characters come to life as you read. Get this book on Kindle Unlimited or buy it! It is so worth it!
Another good book In the series. Even though if it is part of the serious you don't miss out on a whole lot by reading this one. I love the character development through the book. I love the fact that children are not left out and they are developed as well. Luke is also an amazing character. And well our female main character is amazing in her own right.
the last two stories, Del and Evey, lost something the earlier books had. they were still good and I like the characters but the stories lacked a depth that I wanted. so much seemed glossed over while there was almost too much going on in a short timeline. I would have loved another 50-100 pages of details to help build the interest and anticipation.
I have read every book in the series and I must say for this being the last sister I’m glad it was evey last this story really was worth the wait. The tears during the read are worth it in the end lol
Luke and Evey have a captivating and heartfelt story. There is plenty of character development and powerful emotions. The storyline is interesting and kept me reading along with the drama, suspense, chemistry, love and danger. I really enjoyed reading this story.
I've said this so many times but I absolutely love reading stories by Heather MacKinnon. She makes you fall in love with her characters. They are so relatable and I feel like I find pieces of myself in her stories. This book was entirely too short. I need more of Evey and Luke.
I have enjoyed the spin off series a lot! It was always short and sweet. This one wasn't so bad either. It felt like the ending was rushed and little things were long however.
Evey is that last of her family to meet her fated mate. She's tired of being alone. Lots of wolves have asked to join her brother Abraham's pack. Luke and his twin little girls came from Texas to join. Evey has an immediate connection to him and the girls.
I have absolutely loved every single book in this series. I am so obsessed. I would love it if she wrote another entire series with the Mccoy kids as the stars 🌟
Slightly miffed at the ending, but all the sisters books were a good read,I have enjoyed this series, will definitely be reading other books by this author.
