Money, murder, and loyalty. That’s the code Legion of Kings lived by. We were a brotherhood of bastards. You either ran with us or ran from us. There was no in-between. We took what we wanted and killed witnesses and snitches. My rules were law, and one rule was non-negotiable: No women in Legion of Kings. Jupiter Gray was determined to shatter that rule along with everything else. She was a wrecking ball and letting her into the Kings would be dangerous. Letting her into my heart would be fatal.
I live in KY with my family. While I hold a "real job" my first love will always be writing. I enjoy lots of different kinds of books, and many different authors. Some of my favorites are, but not limited to, Sandra Hill, Lori Foster, Kelly Armstrong, Stephen King, James Patterson, J.R. Ward and Emma Holly. But I think I would read just about anything with a good plot.
This was a crazy, wild ride following a Crenshaw based gang in L.A.
♠️Hero and Heroine: Both alphas that were the PERFECT match for each other! ♠️Morally grey characters on the wrong side of the law ♠️Hilarious banter with a bad ass, confident heroine who was not afraid to put this King of the streets alpha in his place ♠️Found family vibes with a gang of brothers united by growing up in a boys home together ♠️A beautiful and over the top sexy romance that surprised two people who never thought they would ever find this kind of epic love
King ish! I am in awe, Mrs. James! This read is so different from the other books you have written, but I welcome this addition! I so enjoyed the complexity of these characters, all while holding on to their strong brotherhood! One could tell right away that there was something there between King and Jupiter, although they hated each other most of the time. They had such a similar upbringing, that it made their connection that much easier, when they weren't fighting. 😂 King was a leader and an alpha in every sense of the word! He commanded attention and everyone listened and followed him with no question. He and Juju's chemistry was potent, wild, fun and sexy all at the same time! Seeing their situationship grow into friendship, and then love was everything! Juju was on 10 all the time! She was bold, fearless, sometimes reckless and a boss! Loved how she stood up to everyone and didn't let anyone make her feel that she was less than. I hated some of the things that went down all due to jealousy, but you have to charge it to the game right? So enjoyed this read. Bravo! 👍👍👍
honestly, I typically like a gritty alpha male and a meeker woman in my books. that was NOT this book. King was MANNISH af. Jupiter was ALPHA af and I was here for alllllllllllll of it. It was such a beautiful tale of brotherhood, love and loyalty. New fan alert over here 💜.
A really good read that kept me engaged and eager for more. There was a strong theme of loyalty and brotherhood. I loved King; he was the head honcho and ringleader but even King needed his Queen. He found his match in Jupiter. My girl was fearless and the Queen B.. I loved the relationship that King and Jupiter had. They mirrored each other and they loved strongly. I think there was a good amount of drama in this book and I was not expecting some of the twists. The author did a pretty good job with this storyline. However, I am hoping for a story between Jane and Pretty Boy, i need to know what comes of their situationship. Good read for me!
Omg where to begin??? Danielle James rocked my world with this book. King and Jupiter's story was EVERYTHING! From the first page of the book, their chemistry was evident. King was literally the king of brotherhood and Jupiter was the perfect woman to hold her own at his side. I absolutely adored King. It honestly took me a second to warm up to Jupiter, but once I did, I was rooting for her and King all the way. She's a different type of female lead than I was used too, but she definitely held her own and left a mark. King and Jupiter were two sides of the same coin and I loved watching their lust spiral into that forever kind of love. Danielle knocked this one out of the park. I laughed, I cried, and then laughed some more. King, Jupiter, Pretty Boy, and sweet sweet Truck took me on a wild ride that I'll definitely remember. This is quickly going into my top 5 for 2021. I'm hoping Danielle brings us more from the Legion of Kings world.
Unfortunately, I didn't like this book. The dialogue didn't feel real and I felt like all the attitude and bravado of gangster hoodshit was OTT and made it feel fake; I thought it was going to be something somewhat similar to the authors book Bear. I also didn't get to feel a sense of connection with the characters like I have with the other characters from books by this author. The only good thing I can say about this book is that it is all Black people, we don't have a weak in the knees heroine, and the passion and sex were good between the MC.
This book was juicy as hell, I loved it!! The chemistry and banter between the mmc and fmc King and Jupiter was soo entertaining, it kept me interested in the story from beginning to end. I love dominant woman in stories because it shows how ✨BAD ASS✨ we can be and Jupiter was the perfect example of that. She’s a bit hotheaded but when you learn about her childhood, you would understand why. King is one, HOT ASF 🥵. and two, I know deep down he’s a big softie but still has to play his part as the leader of his gang. I also love how it wasn’t only about gang shit, there was soo much plot and character development that I started loving some of the side characters more than the main at some parts (Truck 🥺, Pretty Boy, and Jay 👩🏾⚕️) This was a story of family, trauma-bonding, loyalty, and love and it was so well written. Some of the explicit scenes did make me cringe at times only b/c the way King and Jupiter talk to each other is funny asl 😂 but overall, the story was still great! 4.5/5 ⭐️
King was the leader of the LOK’s and he reigned with an iron fist. No one challenged his rule without suffering the consequences. He was the leader and held all of his followers lives in his hands. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. Juju was a wild card - fire, slicked mouth, quick tempered, always on go, fearless and never backed down. She was with doing whatever it took to maintain her lifestyle and didn’t care who got used or hurt in the process. She looked out for herself and her sister only. She and King meet under heightened circumstances and neither one backed down or surrendered. They just rubbed each other the wrong way but they were just alike. Soon that friction gave way to desires that they gave into - hot and combustible! She wanted in on the LOK’s and he wanted to keep to the code. This ain’t a man’s world no more and it still means nothing without a woman or a girl. Don’t cross a king and don’t underestimate his heart. This was a great read!!!!
Jupiter was very brazen, and very in your face type of young lady lol 😂. She was VERY alpha and gave King a run for his money. Jupiter’s mouth was reckless and she will fight anybody Lordt. She is very defiant, had an attitude and I wondered how she would fit in as a member of the Kings IJS. She was somewhat aggravating IMHO. The love between her and sister were real and this is where you will find her soft spot. Her and her sister Jay were definitely polar opposites. Jupiter and King is ying and yang and tick tack toe! They even each other out.
The other members of the Kings all came up in the system, but there will always be one that will test you. I felt so sad what happened and it broke my heart!
Glad that the traitors got dealt with. The characters in the book all dealt with abandonment issues, trust, but after everything is said and done, they were their for each other!
Danielle James always weaves stories that just reel you in. With that being said. I loved the romance part between Juju and King. That was blazing hot from inception to end. But, I really saw no point in her joining the gang. Sorry, not sorry. There were just so many more avenues that could of been taken. Like her reuniting and healing with her parents. All the while dating King. I just didn’t get the purpose of her wanting to be down with a gang. All while working at a bank and having a seemingly decent life despite her upbringing. We all know girl gang members are never regarded the same as the men. This was cute, but I was with Sumo. They should of never let her in the LOK and by doing so it altered their lives and friendships.
The main character in this book is a true ALPHA female and you’ll fall instantly in love with her and her sister. This true Queen falls for this Dangerous King and the story take off! This book erotic, sad, funny and has some family drama. You’ll love it. In my head I’m giving it 4stars because me favorite character died and he could’ve just been in a coma or something (I teared up during that scene)
soliddd book, loved the female mc, she was so badass and cool and she kept that personality/attitude throughout the entire book, it didn’t even falter for the male mc which was refreshing.
they are so fitting for each other it’s insane but my only issue was his whole alpha male thing he had going, sometimes it was hot but other times it could be corny and annoying.
like…we know you’re the king of this and that, stop repeating it every chance you get like damn😭
3.5 stars . Good story , my only wish is that maybe we got a little bit more of their illegal encounters and less of King & Jupiter’s wild sexy story lol. I was like jeeez they just like arguing because they know what it will lead too. My poor truck that’s all I can say 😭😭 I need King to put his foot down a little sooner in the books to come, he was letting a lot go for someone that made sure we knew he was King. Good story overall.
I started off real rocky on this read. I was not sure if the dialogue and banter was for me and I was trynna hang in there. BUT BABYYY!!! It turned around. Now I do still feel like the arguments between JuJu and King was a bit much at points but I was along for the ride. The spice was more than spicy and I was shedding tears I didn’t even know I had developed. I’m actually excited for the second book because my lil glimpse of Jane and Pretty Boy…. YEAHH I GOTTA READ THAT ASAP!!!
This story grabs you at the throat and keeps hemmed up until the very end. King and Jupiter’s chemistry was electric from the first words and stayed that way even once feelings were involved. Jupiter was NO JOKE and she absolutely showed why she was a King with a King. LOVED IT!!
😔😩😩 unfortunately another pass for me for this author, it's just that again she added a heroine like this and i hate it. I can't stand her personality and how unrealistic she is. I'm just not into it. I usually love gang stuffs but this was not for me, after 20% i let it go to not end up hating it more.
Bold energy and chemistry is what I liked Most about this one. I was thinking while reading was it necessary for Jupiter to join to the gang..there were other ways that fit better into her current lifestyle. Liked the Brotherhood theme and loyalty.. their back stories. June's father was truly grimy.
This story was a pleasant surprise. The characters were developed enough to keep the plot Moving forward with actions that made sense coming from each. I definitely enjoyed the storyline of a makeshift family and their loyalty to one another. The action sequences as well as the naked wrestling were well written as well. I thoroughly enjoyed book one I would recommend it.
Kind of started off slow. Ending wasn’t so bad…King and Jupiter were both hot heads who were made for each other. I’m glad King expressed his feelings to Jupiter…I cried when Truck died. He was such a sweetheart. They took too long to kill Sumo knowing he was the reason Truck died. This book had a good storyline it just was slow.
I've been looking for a book to thoroughly enjoy and this was it for me. It flowed meticulously. That's the highlight. It was easy and enjoyable to read. With drama every turn but it all tied up at the end. I loved the ending. I'm fan of bittersweet endings. Great read!
Legion of Kings by Danielle James was an entertaining book that I could not put down. There was so much drama, gritty action and the scenes between King and Jupiter were so hot. Legion of Kings was all about family, loyalty, power and love. Kudos!
I was very pleased with this book. The back and forth between King and Jupiter was non stop however it was necessary. That was how they loved each other. This book provided some good laughs as well as pain. I definitely recommend this book.
First book I ever read of this author & I must say she has a new fan!! Juju & King are a force to be reckoned with! I don’t want to say too much & give the story away but let’s just say this book will definitely be in my reread list!
At first, I didn't think I was go like this book. JuJu irked me so bad at introduction. She still irked me so throughout the story. I just like King and Pretty Boy. Danielle you didn't have to make me drop a tear though. I need a book on Jay and Ricardo next. Good read!
This is my first read by this author and will not be my last! This was an amazing read. I love bank heists, brotherhood type storylines and Ms. James delivers that plus some steamy sex scenes, comedy, and shocking revelations.
Oh wow... Let me start with saying Danielle James is a new author for me and OMG this book is something I can't even describe. I loved the story and definitely it won't be the last one of this author🤩 welcome to my shelf Danielle!!
3.5 stars for me. A decent filler book. I felt much of the book was the main characters arguing and then having makeup smex. There were some good climatic parts, but over it ended very anticlimactic.

The bold way the author told this story, I knew I was in for a daunting relationship story. The Kings thwarted by a Queen. So much drama and deception, jealousy and love; this story had it all. Wow!
I read this book 2 years ago and I didn't give it a star rating because I wasn't sure how I felt about it. But now after doing a reread I definitely enjoyed this book and will be getting a physical copy for my shelf. I loved the storyline with the main and side characters. Very entertaining read.
