There’s a Demon on the loose. No, another one...

Mark Vedis and his team need a break. After the events of Bangkok Warlock, they’ve been working with the Thai Paranormal Police Department (PPD) to clean up the streets and get rid of the last of the supernatural threats to the Land of Smiles. Too bad the supernatural mafia is back and ready to make their lives a living hell.

This time they’ve attacked the PPD branches in South Korea, and they’ve brought backup.

Mark and the team will have to fend off mages, monsters, and a demon so big he’s made Bert more than a little jealous.

To make matters worse, Mark also managed to create a public relations nightmare by bringing a woman back from the dead using black magic. If that wasn’t enough, he’s caught the eye of a dragon who wants to add him to her collection of pretty boys.

Life was so much easier when everyone just wanted to kill him…

Mark, Mira and their team are once again caught up with demons, wizards, shaped and demented evil humans. Always in pursuit of who controls the Shaped, Mark and his team crosses hairs with a set of twins and Bert's brother Dolph. Bert doesn't want to kill his brother and lets him get away not knowing Dolph's secret. There is humor and some hot and heavy twosomes and threesomes involved in this book and plenty of violence, intrigue and treachery to keep a reader entranced with the words between these pages in this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.

More calamity, more hilarity. Just as Team Vedis is getting settled in Bangkok, they have to respond to attacks in South Korea. Through Seoul attacks (yes, plural), trips through the Netherworld, dealings with multiple "family" issues, contract technicalities, Shaped shenanigans, and sororal hijinks, the SE Asia PPD continues to deliver raucous action and humor. Consider the ante upped.

For those looking to potentially read this book and are unaware, this book (and likely the rest of the series as well) is available to read for free with a Kindle Unlimited subscription. Obviously since I'm mentioning it, this is how I read it.

Mark Vedis is the lead agent for a unique, special unit of paranormal police department. He has an oddball team of misfits. Overall, the book was a good read, an easy page turner. However, there were a few things that I didn't quite care for about the book that brought the rating down to a 3.5 (rounded up) star rating. That said, I'll still likely read the third book at some point. So let's dive into the good, the bad, and the ugly, shall we?

The book had heaps of humor and snarky remarks. Of that humor, a chunk of it was littered with smutty jokes. Sometimes they felt unnecessary or forced, but for the most part they were still chuckle worthy more than eye roll worthy. However, of the humor, a lot of it was in the form of picking on Mark. Issue was that poor Mark was clearly bothered by it, so even though it was in 'good fun', it still felt more like bullying than humorousness at times. Basically, maybe his friends were *too* intensely humorously making fun of him?

The major reason I leaned to a 3.5 rating was because of Mark and Mira's relationship. Granted, I'm not the biggest fan of romance in stories because a lot of times it adds unnecessary drama, and make no mistake, it certainly was present here, but their relationship felt abusive and controlling. More times than not Mark indicates that she bosses him around. She has the ability to use a variety of different poisons, some that can cause paralysis while others are deadlier. That said, Mark admitted that she has scratched him with the paralysis stuff on way more than one occasion to quote-unquote increase his tolerance. Additionally, it just felt like there were so many instances where she just treated him badly.

Either way, as stated, it isn't terrible and I'll likely give the third one a read eventually.

This book had us visiting areas we had been in earlier with Ian Dex, namely some of the levels of Hell from Blood Bane Tower. This is one of the times where reading the earlier series helps. The Easter eggs are fun. Knowing that Estelle’s dream became a reality is nice. We are also told that the Badland’s will soon have a new chief. That character is Zeke Phoenix, and his first book will come out in under two months, co-written by the wonderful Orlando A. Sanchez. We were already given a taste of his main creations, Simon Strong and Tristan Montague back in the mini-crossover which took place in London Growl. Aside from Estelle, we got mentions of Turbo and Pecker. I wish that Turbo’s personality was brought up, especially with regards to a normal pixie like Stone. Tranq, the coroner / chief from the first book, tries to stifle his pixie traits. Turbo has always been what Tranq is striving for.

We get a few major reveals. We also get the stupid side of the PPD books. This time, Bert was only partially responsible. Nope. It was the freaking women. I guess I should be happy that the women are drawn as strong, free-thinking characters. Having Succubi as a species means there will always be, ahem, adventurous women. There was a serious misstep towards the end with a new character, Jinju. All her interactions with Mark and Bert showed she was not into that crap. God forbid we don’t skank up the new girl. Ugh.

This book also has a starting what will be something of a soap opera with scheming family members. I enjoy Lucy Für. She proved in the Las Vegas books to be a reasonable and thoughtful leader. My brain always sorts of breaks over her name though. Years ago, I read a book with a cat named Lucy Für. I always have to get the image of a sleek, black kitty out of my mind. Queen Lucy is so NOT anything approximating that picture.

Random nit-picks:
1. Early in the book, Mark goes to Samantha’s. It says he rang the doorbell. Then it says he knocked. Keep in mind, he wasn’t being impatient. It seemed as if the author forgot what had happened before.
2. This isn’t a spoiler since the character is dead before the series started. We never knew about him even. Her spine makes a wonderful coat rack. Interim chief of the Badlands PPD talking about the old one. Throughout the book, both before and after this line, the dead chief is male. We are never told his species, so perhaps he was gender-fluid.

This is the review of the short story Santa Demon, which was included in the original release for Seoul Demon .
We got a Christmas gift that was unique. I’ve gotta say, the demons’ beliefs of the holiday make as much sense as the humans ones, sometimes more. Those poor Yeti. I love how Bert can be a perv one minute, but bring up Santa and he becomes idealistic mush. One of the reasons Mark .

Demonicious

The characters in this book are great from the slightly sex crazed, to the weird ( which is most of them) its a lot of laughs and the serious bit isn't too bad neither lol.
Mark our main character is just stuck with it all and his other half a demon Prince just makes this a great addition to the PPD Universe.
My main bone of contention is these books just go down like ice cream your finished it before you know it.
I was tempted to post a lot of the funny bits but restrained myself , yeah go me , so no spoilers just a lot of fun and my personal seal of approval if other potential buyers actual think that's ok and worth the price of a coffee for a good laugh a lot book.

You can’t trust anyone...especially family

The Bangkok PPD gang is back and in more trouble than ever. Everyone thought they had dealt their enemy a crushing blow, but they quickly learn that they are facing a multi faceted monster! As yet another eerily familiar massacre occurs, Mark and his team must work quickly to avoid even more deaths. But what they find is their super villain enemy is getting help from a completely unexpected source. Now they must face betrayal, family issues, a trip into the Badlands, an amorous dragon, and a new addition no one saw coming! Can they defeat this new threat? With a little help from a Valkyrie, a team of succubi, and a crafty demon queen they just might!

I am so glad I found these authors; this second book in this series is even better than the first one! Mark Verdis is a great character with plenty of snarkiness and fun. And, yes, the other characters are so much fun, as well, especially Bert. Love him! There is so much going on, and I kept turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next. Did I mention the book was lots of fun?!? I really can’t get enough of this series, and if you are a fan of light, fun, well-written urban fantasy, I highly recommend you try this series, too!

This is the second book in the series and might say it is a little better than the first one, as we find out more about everyone, yet there are still a few secrets to unravel.

Mark and Bert are at their best, only this time Bert is having a little family problems, and twins are always creepy. Mira is at her best, Lana is Lana, but we also meet a few more people and learn a little more about Demon politics. And we also learn never to mess with Santa Claus as she can get really mean.

Humor and action!! Bring it on!!

This series is so full of action and keeps your mind in the gutter that it fills the needs of the male persona!! You don't get the true porn writing like so many works of fiction out there, but you get the double entendres and not so subtle references that make you laugh so loud people around you will stare; all while the good guys are kicking butt!!
An amazing read all around!!!

I think that every one of my notes about this book is about me laughing. And now I am reading sections out loud to my husband! I never do that.
The characters are great and are becoming more alive and relatable with each chapter.
I just want to know if the chocolate and pads comment came from personal experience?
For a great story and lots of laughs, read this book. Madga!

When the Seoul PPD office is exterminated, Mark Verdis and his team of misfits are tasked with sorting the mess. A quick transfer from Bankock soon has them traipsing through blood and guts. Along the way, they get another 'dead' team member, an adventure into the Badlands and lots of sex and plenty of laughs for the reader.
This book is even better than the first, roll on book 3

This is the second book featuring Mark Vedis and his team. After a vicious attack on the Seoul HQ a new member joins the team and Mark not only has the Shaped to contend with but also a dragon lady and Bert's demon relatives. Fast paced and very, very funny, these books just get better and better!

Amazing

If you like great storylines, amazing character development, laughs, and action (of multiple kinds), check out the PPD series, or anything by Logsdon frankly. So far this has been my personal favorite. I am trying really hard not to give away any spoilers but Bert really starts to demon up in this book.

Dysfunctional AF!

I've read a lot of the PPD stories and so car, this by far, is my favorite of the series. This is such a dysfunctional group and in a good way. The characters are relatable and not simple. It's also not mind bending to read. Good story that has very few plot holes.

Just plain fun!

If you want a book fraught with danger yet full of laughter, Seoul Demon is a great book for you. The characters are colorful and crazy with strong females (also crazy, in some cases psycho). In short, it's just plain fun!

Another Great Read!

I enjoyed this second installment very much! it's got lots of action, travel, twists and humor. Blah blah, blah, blah. Apparently to leave a review, they are requiring so many words before it will be posted. I think I now qualify. 😁

So. I started this book still high off my reading of the first book in this series the week before. I liked this book but I was a little annoyed with the three way crap at the end of the book. Not because I'm a prude --I can 50 shades with the best of them, but when it seems unnecessary or not plot driven, I just don't get the point. This writer is very good. His stories and plot are enjoyable and laugh out loud funny. Just doesn't seem to me he needs all the pink fluff sex. It's cheesy.

The energy in this second in series book is high and the humor continues to be outrageous. New creatures are introduced and both some new villians and a new team member turn up. There is a lot more sex in this one--it was obviously a book written by two guys. All in all a fun ride that left me looking forward to the next one.
