Beneath Lillium’s pearlescent skies, Demya discovers the first clues of a deadly, bloody secret that unknown enemies will do anything to keep hidden. Selena struggles to reconnect with Aleksan and spends her days trying to unravel the Librarian secrets left for her on Lillium. Meanwhile, an Imperial deathstalker squad closes in on their location with every passing day and Selena’s knights work tirelessly to repair their crashed starship and escape the broken moon.
Bri Spicer is an adult science fiction and fantasy author currently working on her debut science fantasy novel, In the Light of a Broken Moon, which will be serialized and released starting in October 2020.
Her work explores romance and wonder in a star-spanning civilization where planetary systems are linked by magical sigil-warded transportation gates. In Bri Spicer's stories, opulent royal houses, cut-throat megacorporations, fractured empires, upstart republics, and vicious crime syndicates vie for power and influence across the thousand worlds of the long-dead Sacristae Republic. Oracles, patronized by the great powers, peer into the future for profit, and starmages carve out the hearts of living stars to meet the unending demand for fuel and raw materials for war.
Against these forces, magic-wielding warrior Librarians, the black-armored knights who love them, and their allies strive to protect the powerless, to preserve all knowledge and learning, and to provide a path to a better world.
In The Light Of A Broken Moon - Episode 2 starts exactly after the end of the first part, with our triad finally back together (more or less).
Once again Bri Spicer, with a prose that is both elegant and smooth, was perfectly able to craft characters and emotions in such a brilliant way that this short novel was absolutely enjoyable even though the action and development of the plot are very limited.
The way Selena, Demya and Aleksan love each other is magnificent and strong enough to defy every obstacle fate put on their path. But they are not the same as they were on Salus Sermo and the process of reconnecting after seven years is hard and full of mistakes, as it must be. I really liked that their feelings were handled in such a realistic way, without erasing all the trauma, the pain and the sadness they have been through since the fall of their home planet. But what makes me cry my heart out loud every time I think about it is the fact that even though they know well enough that things are not going to be exactly as they were before, they still constantly try to mend their wounds and rebuild the broken bridges, to heal together (*insert intense sobbing*).
I’m just so in love with this episode, and even more with these three beautiful idiots.
“As your knights and as your anchors, if you need us. We trust you can do this”
Episode 2 kicks off straight where episode 1 left off with the triad reunited, Demya and Aleksan are on Lillium trying to find a way to be reunited with Selena.
I found that this book was a great read, and I was very interested in the characters and curious to see where this story is going, I mean that ending has bothered me, what a cliff-hanger, I need episode 3 now please
However, I feel this episode was more of a builder episode, there was potential for more action, which hopefully will be coming in later episodes, especially as I do not trust Aleksan, I don’t know what it is but this is some Spidey sense telling me he has secrets that I need to know
It was interesting to watch the triad to try to form their relationship again, after 7 years separated, they seem to have lost their sync with one another, so I am very intrigued to see how that will go in the future episodes
It was a great inclusion into the serial novel, and I did enjoy it, I just need the next instalment asap
A satisfying follow up to the first episode - Aleksan, Selena, and Demya are back together again and racing against the clock while facing what the 7 year separation has meant for them. The beautiful world building of episode 1 continues in episode 2, and I loved uncovering the dangers of Lillium with Demya.
I really enjoyed In the Light of a Broken Moon Episode Two! It's so good. I didn't want to stop reading the story. I can't wait to see what happens next!
A nail-biting, heart-rending episode! It punched me in the gut time after time with its sensitive yet beautiful exploration of the characters' trauma, and kept me on the edge of my seat with the chilling new threats they are forced to face down. I love how the world of this story is so rich and magical, yet it keeps the characters and their struggles at its heart. Can't wait to see more of Demya, Selena and Aleksan in the next volume!!
