Breaking: the elusive @JaxRyder lead singer of @Glasshouse spotted getting cozy with a mystery brunette. Off the market?
Smart, driven, and always in control, Sidney King feels unstoppable. It’s her last semester of college and she isn’t letting anything get in the way of landing her dream job. Especially not the super hot, soon-to-be world famous rockstar she’s been forced to study with….No, definitely not him. No way.
Jax Rider is flying high. His chart-topping rock band is about to go off on their first major tour. Only one semester stands between him and the sweet freedom of the stage. The last thing he expects is the feisty brunette who crashes into his life.
They both have one rule: no attachments. Not when all their dreams are about to come true. This is strictly business. They’re study partners and nothing more. THE STUDY DATE is book #1 in the GLASSHOUSE SERIES
“We are a train wreck waiting to happen, but neither of us will get off the tracks.”
If you love a good old rockstar romance than this book is perfect for you.
It has it all: the sexy rockstar , the heart melting songs and the meet cute.
Jax and Sidney ‘s story is the one everyone wish for, the chemistry and attraction at first sign and the crazy first meeting (yeah that’s the kinda of meet cute everyone wants).
They started as study friends , then they became friends and after that it was a mix of fireworks and denial of their feelings .
“He’s pulling me in with a force I can’t ignore .How am I going to survive him? I swear he’s trying to ruin me for all others.”
They are booth complicated characters , that have been through a lot . They are very guarded about their feeling, especially Sidney . She didn’t want to be left heart broken because of a rockstar who soon was going to leave her behind.
But what she didn’t predict was that that rockstar had no intention of letting her go, he just had to figure out how to keep her.
Their journey wasn’t easy , it was a real rollercoaster of emotions , the best kind.
I literally couldn’t put it down, and I can’t wait for all of you to experience what I did!
“I’m over my head. My body is aching for her. She’s quickly becoming an addiction”
This is the first book of what I’m sure is gonna be an amazing series!
found out about this version of sidney and jax’s story so i decided to give it a try after reading rule number five. plot wise, there’s not much difference between the two books. jax is all in but sidney has her worries and insecurities due to her past that she couldn’t put down just yet. but i think i like how the story flowed better in rule number five.
4.5 stars - Really enjoyed this debut new-adult novel.
”Jax might have all the makings of a perfect guy, but he’s not mine. Because my perfect guy wouldn’t leave me.”
Sidney King has goals. She’s driven and focused and will not be distracted by anyone, especially an up-and-coming rockstar. She’s within touching distance of her dream job and there’s no way that she will give up her dream to follow a guy - even if they seem to share a deep connection. Her personal experience and her fears hold her back from making a forever commitment, but their mutual desire is too intense to ignore, so she’ll make the most the time they have left.
”This girl is mine, and it’s time she knows it.”
Jaxton Ryder is on the cusp of a dream career, and he knows that there’s no point in committing to a relationship when he’s leaving soon. There are no shortage of willing girls but Sidney is something else. From the moment they meet, he can’t take his eyes off her. When they become study buddies, she’s a danger he’s well aware of but has no desire to pull away from. He doesn’t want to stop her following her dreams, but she doesn’t even want to wait for him and give them a chance at forever.
”You’re already in…you’re…inside my skin. Inside my chest. Inside my lungs. Deep within my bones, my heart, my soul.”
I was hooked! Sidney and Jax started off as friends but the tension between them was there right from the start - taut, electric and undeniable. After a lifetime of being let down, she’s stubbornly unwilling to put her heart on the line for someone who might never put her first. This novel had banter, steaminess, and anguish as the couple is pulled in opposite directions. I loved Jax and his willingness to commit to Sidney, even though he didn’t have all the answers to their diverging paths. I loved his thoughtfulness and his care of her. I loved that she brought light into his life. Sidney was so hesitant to let him into her heart. Her trust was fragile and I felt that she was constantly waiting for him to let her down. I loved the conclusion and the way the story wound down. They took so much joy in being in each other’s company. This was a fab first novel and I’m really looking forward to reading about the other band members.
this was a surprisingly good new adult romance, one of those ones that surprises you when you realize you actually give a shit. There's real conflict, and agency, and an insistence on both male and female having actual goals being OKAY. You understand their decisions even while hating them, and the only thing that feels wrong in this is how the dude seems too good to be true with his level of understanding.
Ok this book just completely took me by surprise! I’m personally not the biggest fan of rockstar/musician romance books but the blurb proper sucked me in and I wanted to give it a go.. I am so glad I did, I honestly DEVOURED this book! Like read it in one sitting, couldn’t put it down devoured it!
It was just so good and so sweet. The characters and plot were so well written and so engaging. The plot completely pulled you in and you were just desperate for their relationship to develop and work.
The characters.. omg Jax 🥺 he was just the SWEETEST guy ever. He was funny, smart, sweet, also HOT AF and he treated Sidney with so much respect and love. Oh I just fell fully in love with him. He is firmly on my list of book boyfriends. ❤️
And Sidney.. she was so ambitious and determined and I loved it. She wasn’t willing to give up her dreams that she’d worked for for someone else which I really admired. I adored them together.
Their relationship and the friendships were just a joy to read. I honestly couldn’t recommend this enough! Jessa is a debut author and I really hope she gets the support and recognition she deserves as this is an incredible first book! 🖤
I loved everything about this book, the characters, the feel , Jax and Sidney were amazing, there meeting was the ultimate meet cute for me, its the ones you wish you cold read more of. The chemistry these two shared was unbeatable. This story was such a great way to introduce yourself Jessa Wilder you swept me away from page one. Beautiful job .
I haven’t read a rockstar romance in a while, but this was a good one. I love Jax. He’s a great character and I loved seeing inside his head. Sidney was a little less likeable, especially at the end of the book, but I like how career driven she is. I would’ve liked to have seen more of her father, especially as he’s such a big motivating factor, as well as giving more insight into Sidney’s motivations. Still, this was a good, angsty, story. I definitely recommend giving it a go.
Jessa Wilder you have have found your calling because me and my heart simply adored this debut novel. The Study Date is a beautifully written realistic friends to lovers rockstar romance story. Sidney and Jax cross paths during an adorable meet cute and an instant attraction sparks between them. However, Jax the sexy musician is on his way to fame and about about to leave town to live the rockstar life, and due to personal reasons Sidney wants nothing to do with a Rockstar, and she most definitely doesn't want him anywhere near her heart. With their forced close proximity and undeniable attraction would a friends with benefits concept work? Or will hearts be broken when it comes time for them both to go their seperate ways? Jax and Sidney's story pulled at each and every one of my heart strings. It was humorous, sweet, swoon-worthy, romantic, steamy, heart breaking, heartwarming, and oh so heart achingly angsty.
I highly recommend this book and given that it was Jessa Wilder's debut novel I'm excited to see what comes next!!!
As a fan of rockstar romances I was immediately drawn to the premise of Ms. Wilder's debut work, a story that charmed me with its endearingly cute first meeting between the main couple and their captivating journey to HEA. It's a journey that pulls readers in while showing unexpected sides to these characters, it allows for these two friends to become something more while they figure out more about themselves. When it comes to rockstar romances there's a sense of familiarity amongst many of the storylines, but this story definitely sets itself apart from the rest courtesy of characters who aren't typical and a premise that goes in surprising directions.
Jaxson Ryder is a delicious hero, not your typical rockstar that's for sure as he's not overly comfortable being under a microscope, uncomfortable with living a life full of obligations. When he first proposes to tutor Sidney, the offer is made from the goodness of his heart and isn't a way into her pants. Jax is a truly good young man with a big heart who wants to help others. Through his time with Sidney he becomes more comfortable in own skin as fame comes ever closer to him and as he tries to figure out a way to have it all.
Sidney King is one of the most appealing heroines I've discovered courtesy of her strong and sassy persona. Her family life wasn't the best though and it kept her from opening up her heart fully to others, leading to a lot of frustrating push/pull between her and Jax as they evolved from friends to something deeper. She's a formidable heroine as she knows what she wants for her life and refuses to settle for anything less. She wasn't willing to be second best in any situation which made for some difficult times as this couple raced towards their destinies. With each turn of the page though she became a tangible part of Jax's life, helping him embrace the rockstar persona while soaking up his sweet and kindhearted side.
On a whole this is an impressive debut work courtesy of an unforgettable couple and their sweet and endearing romance that built slowly. Jax is a dreamy and drool-worthy hero with a big heart who often showed Sid just how important she was to him. Though he made a few mistakes along the way, I still name him to my list of book boyfriends and still see him in my dreams. Sidney is equally as memorable and I wish more heroines were as strong-willed as she, as determined as she showed herself to be throughout the story. Alongside this memorable main couple was a cast of equally appealing secondary characters, mostly the remaining members of Glasshouse. These characters weren't your typical rockstars, they too had big hearts that I can't wait to see more of as the glimpses we got of them here are quite tempting. Readers looking for a fresh voice in the genre, a romantic tale full of heart and soul, will want to add this book to your shelves the moment it's released as it's a special and beautifully crafted story!
I read The Study Date a little bit ago and I have to say that I absolutely adored this book to pieces.
The characters were so darn cute starting off as just study mates and then becoming really good old friends and then having that undeniable attraction towards each other but wouldn't admit to each other how they really felt. For one Jax Ryder is a freaking rockstar and even though every girl swooned for him, he had only eyes for Sidney, buy Sidney put a wall against Jax because for one, he was a rockstar and nothing ever pans out great when dating a rockstar who goes on tours. We all know what happens on those road trips (mhmm)!
Any hoot, these characters had me swooning, cursing and downright laughing from time to time. They were definitely a pair that were a match made in heaven apart from their differences. I guess like the saying goes, opposites attract and this is definitely an opposites attract for me.
They may have started off as just friends but then it got a bit complicated when they revealed their true feelings for each other. Jax was willing to make things work between them regardless of their jobs but Sidney did not want to take that chance. It was very hard to convince her that not all rockstars are the same!
The Study Date will certainly be on top of my swoony reads!!

Jax's band has made it. They are finally getting their own headlining tour but before that he makes a promise to himself to finish out school and get is degree. When he ends up next to Sidney in one of his classes they quickly realize that being study partners will benefit them both. Even though Sidney swears that she will never date a musician, the more time she spends with Jax, she cannot deny the pull she feels towards him. They both agree that they will have fun until the end of the school year, until Jax goes on tour. But when reality sets in how do they walk away.
I enjoyed this story. Jax was fun and sweet and pretty dang amazing. I loved how much he fought for Sidney. How he laid his heart on the line for her. Sidney was a tough nut to crack; she had a very rough childhood but she refused to let it control her life. She was bound to fulfill all her dreams and I adored that about her even if I wanted to smack her a few times. I felt that there was a bit too much internal monologue and not enough dialogue between the characters. A little bit telling and not seeing but I still really enjoyed this story. I especially loved the way that the conflict was resolved. It really felt well rounded and satisfying to me as a reader. I am looking forward to more from this author.
I really liked this book. Jax is a newly famous rock star who just wants to finish college under the radar before he and his band mates go on tour. Sidney has a step by step plan on what goals she needs to achieve in order to get her dream job. Both of them are graduating at the end of the year and NEITHER of them has room for romance. Nope. Too much distraction. Must. Focus. On. Their. Goals. At least that’s what they telling each other as they spend more and more time together. They’re friends. Just. Friends. Well, at least that was their intention.
Their chemistry is off the charts. This is a feel good romance book. Don’t get me wrong, there were large parts that had me ugly crying. But some of the best romances to. Jax’s bandmates and Sidney’s roommate are all fascinating characters that I can’t wait to read more about as the series continues.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Jessa Wilder turns a study date into something more in this cute friends to lovers story.
Sidney is a college student with a plan and nothing and no one is going to derail it. Jax is a rockstar, whose getting his degree before going on tour. What first starts out as a study date, slowly turns into so much more. But can anything come of a relationship that has a time limit on it?
I loved the plot and how they meet is too cute. This was a great debut story and definitely not the last I’ll read of Jessa Wilder.
I really enjoyed reading this book by Wilder and was so invested in the story that I couldn’t put it down until I finished it.. It was an easy read with relatable characters (well maybe not the rockstar lol)and there is just the right amount of tension & steaminess to reel me in. Their chemistry is undeniable and the struggle/angst wasn’t too much.
The main female was strong and driven and it was refreshing to see her follow her dreams without chasing after a man. The relationship between Sid & Jax felt realistic but also took me into their world, because who wouldn’t want to lust after a rockstar and have it reciprocated.
Otay y'all so I'm probably gonna have a unpopular opinion but Sidney wasn't my favorite person. Like I eventually warmed up to her but honestly it was only after Jax met her and it really all started clicking. Jax is one of a kind for Sidney and I was happy that he had people talk some since into him. But I also think in the end they each learned how to work together and they push and pull from each other and it really works.
This is a debut novel by Jessa Wilder and it is a great introduction to the author. It will not be my last book I read by the author for sure.
I enjoyed Jax and Sydney's story. I loved their meet cute, then there's the relationship development between them. It's definitely a slow burn but it works for them. I loved how they navigate their relationship. They are actually very mature about it.
I was not expecting a sweet and swoon-worthy story but The Study Date is definitely all that and more.
Jaxton Ryder is starting his final semester of college to earn his degree in Computer Science, then the band will begin their first major tour. Going for coffee, he sees a feisty, confident woman ahead of him in line. When the barista tries to take his order first as she flirts with him, the woman ahead won’t allow her to get away with it. The rest of their journey to class, both heading for the same one, turns into a game, no words spoken, as they race ahead of each other, alternating who will open the door for the other. A mad race to the top row in the classroom results in their getting the last two seats. And Sidney King can’t figure out why everyone is staring at them!
This was just the beginning of a fantastic story line that the author takes the reader into. The descriptions of their surroundings are so real that the reader could navigate them from place to place as if having lived there too. The characters are absolutely brought to life and the most wonderful people you would ever want to know. The band is family, far more than friendship holding them together. This book feels so good from beginning to end. Grab your copy and melt into the slow and gentle build-up of something amazing between them. There are secrets that may provide a bit of drama, but the solid foundation of these two should keep them together to face any awkwardness. Grab your copy and do not miss this book. It is fantastically wonderful!
Romantic, Real and deeply touching, The Study Date is a wonderful read and a great debut novel from a promising new author!
The Rockstar romance trope tends to have a few common pitfalls - they're usually rather shallow, or too-good-to-be-true. The Study Date manages to skillfully avoid them all, with great characters, fantastic writing and a moving story. I loved Jax. He's swoon worthy, sincere, down to earth, but not so perfect he feels fake. Sid it a strong and inspiring female character, breaking the norms of needing to be saved by her man and putting herself and her goals first, and doing so without coming across as rude or self-centered.
Over all, a superb book from an up and coming author, that I fully recommend. Can't wait for more!
The Study Date is the debut of Jessa Wilder and it. can't be better, I think the book puts a completely unexpected and different twist on the rockstar romance, which are not my favorites but they could be if all the books are the same. Jax & Sidney have a moving and funny story, full of love, sweetness and dreams to fulfill.
The first heroine in Glasshouse Series is Sidney King, a very intelligent girl, who knows what her goals are and is very close to achieving them, her family life has not been the best, for that reason he refuses to let the people around her reach his heart, especially Jax, throughout the book she shows his great heart, she has courage and strength to face the situations that come across her life.
For me, Jaxton Ryder is the most surprising character in this story, he’s a boy who is on his way to become a rock star, however the fame and the siege don’t make him happy. What I like the most about him is his personality, although at first he seems like a grumpy boy, in reality he’s one of the sweetest and most adorable characters I have read, he also has a huge heart, and at the same time, like Sidney, he hides a bit from the world due to a tragedy in her past.
I have to say that I loved this book from beginning to end, and it begins by giving us an idea of how things are going to end between Jax & Sid, but also, the first meeting between them occurs in a very special, interesting and cute way, and from that moment the chemistry between them and the potential they have as a couple is evident, but best of all? Jessa Wilder doesn’t make Jax & Sidney's relationship a mere sexual attraction, since it all begins when Jax offers to be a study partner of Sidney, in the most adorable and cuddly way, I must add. And here comes another one of the groundbreaking moments on The Study Date: Jax is doing better than Sidney in the exams and his proposal does not come with second intentions, he really wants to help Sid understand the class better while she helps him to be more organized, obviously, the more time they spend together the more they know about each other, their feelings begin to get deeper and the attraction more obvious.
But my favorite thing in the world was reading a VERY CUTE Jax, who looks at the details, who little by little begins to find his place in the world, again, thanks to the help of Sidney, who constantly shows him how he feels and where he wants to take his relationship, on the contrary I read a Sidney who is afraid of being the second most important thing in someone's life, a girl who is afraid of being carried away by her feelings, but who nevertheless manages to enjoy the company and the details of Jax, personally, It was very easy to understand her attitude and the reason for her decisions and I sincerely believe that we need more characters like her: a woman willing to fulfill her dreams and who knows that she shouldn’t accept less than what she deserves.
The love story of Sid & Jax is very cute and funny, but it also has sad and moving moments that broke my heart, because for both characters their dreams and goals are an obstacle to overcome for being able to be together. For Jax it’s difficult to understand the reasons behind Sid's behavior, but at the same time he feeds his fears by making some mistakes, however, another thing that I enjoy the most is the maturity of both characters to take the situations they face towards the end of the book and I have to say that chapter 33 destroyed my heart in more than one form, but both main characters were in charge of curing it with their tenderness and love for the other, in addition, the final chapters are simply perfect, they gave me everything I wanted and much more, and surprising twist that the story gives at the end that helps Jax to fully understand Sid is the best.
And if that wasn't enough, the secondary characters also stole my heart, the guys in the band are just as adorable as Jax and all their stories are more than interesting, I'm dying to know what happened between Mia, River & Alex, and how everything is going to end, to know what the Lucas & Piper book will be like and what stories it will tell, but above all, I NEED to read more about the friendship that the boys share because that's what I loved the most about the band.
In conclusion, Jessa Wilder could not have a better debut, The Study Date is the book that I did not know I needed and I loved, its characters are special, funny and adorable, and with a story that I highly recommend .
ARC received in exchange for an honest review
This was a realistic story of a rockstar falling in love with a non-fame seacker. Sidney and Jax start out with an insta-attraction but Sid knows she doesn't want anything to do with a rockstar and Jax is already on his way to fame. They become friends after their original meet cute and from there it blossoms into love though Sid tries to avoid it by making it a friends with benefits until Jax leaves on tour. The end date fast approaches and they continue to fall under Jax lays it out for Sid that he loves her and wants to continue on.
The Study Dateis a Friends to Lovers Rockstar Romance told through dual POVs. The story tells of Sidney ‘Sid’ King and Jaxton ‘Jax’ Ryder who have a Meet Cute that leads to sparks of attraction between the two. When they find out they’re in the same class and partners, they decide to become study partners. However what they don’t expect is the more they study together, the closer they grow towards each other as time passes. But knowing that at the end Jax will be leaving to tour with his band Glasshouse and Sid will be going on to work for a big tech company. Will their attraction be enough to stay together? Or will they hearts be broken when they decide to go their own ways?
This Rockstar Romance trope story was definitely different, in terms of not having the typical traits. Whereas most rockstars are arrogant, cocky and/or shallow, Jax was a complete 180, though he was broody and kept to himself mostly (other than his bandmates), he was also sweet, sincere, humble and kind plus HOT and SEXY too of course! From the start you could see there was so much more to him than the usual rockstar. Being carefree, charming and willing to have fun when it came to spending time with Sid as well as with helping Sid come out of her shell. All while they would get together for their study days. At the same time Sid helped Jax too, seeing as she was the one who was able to get him to open up and put himself out there more by coming out of his shell too.
Throughout the story we see a constant pulling and pushing going on between Sid and Jax. Sid having had some bad experience in the past wants nothing to do with any rockstar, which makes her hesitant in even being friends with Jax. Let alone anything more. This causes her to constantly push and pull from Jax whenever he tries to get her to spend time with him or even do anything together. Besides their studying sessions of course. However, the connection and bond they share, plus Jax’s strong will has Sid’s walls breaking down. Slowly and surely going from friendship to blossoming into something that is so much more. Despite the deadline on their time creeping up on them. Their journey was a labyrinth with not always knowing what will happen or what to expect. Filled with lots of emotions and feelings they are discovering and/or fighting considering everything both go through together and individually. The Study Datewas definitely a cute, sweet, swoony, romantic and steamy hot story. Especially with Jax and Sid’sMeet Cute at the beginning, I mean it was so adorable, dorky and funny all at the same time! That you couldn’t help but laugh along. Whilst also being sad, heartbreaking and frustrating from the angst and annoyance. Especially when it came to Sid, she definitely had me shouting out loud and wanting to shake her at times. Jax too, but not as much. I enjoyed watching the process of Sid and Jax relationship become what it was on their Slow Burn journey.
Overall, Jessa Wilder did a good job with writing Jax and Sid’s story. I definitely enjoyed it and hope to see more stories from theGlasshouseseries with the other band members. Especially River and Alex’s story with Mia.

THE STUDY DATE, the first book in the GLASSHOUSE SERIES by Jessa Wilder, is a New Adult romance set in the senior year of college for both main characters. Sidney King is in her last semester at the California Institute of Technology (CIT). Her dream job is at Gaple Tech Industries, where only the best and brightest students are hired. She needs an “A” in all her remaining classes to qualify, and so she must ace the legendarily difficult Behavior Change Persuasion Technology (BCPT) class. Jax Ryder is on his way to being a bona fide rock star, but before going on his first major tour, he wants to finish his degree in Computer Science at CIT. After a not-so-smooth run in at a campus coffee shop before the BCPT class, Sidney and Jax end up sitting beside each other in the only two remaining seats. She's vowed never to date rock stars, and he's frustrated with clinging fans, so they figure they can be study buddies and just friends. But what begins as a once a week study date, turns into so much more by the end of the semester.
PROS: 1. Interesting main characters with issues making it hard to trust one another. Sidney has a rock musician father who constantly makes dates with her but never shows. Jax struggles to write music and lyrics after his best friend and song writing partner dies. 2. A fairly unique storyline with writing that pulls you in, particularly in the last third of the book. 3. Likable friends with potential for future stories. 4. Lots of angst and tension-building between the H and h. 5. Satisfying ending brought about by characters' good problem-solving techniques.
CONS: 1. Story is a little too long. A few slightly repetitive scenes could have been omitted without impacting the whole plot. 2. A few misspelled and missing words, though not enough to detract from the overall story.
SUMMARY: THE STUDY DATE is an easy read, perfect for the beach or reading on a holiday, and deserves a solid four stars. The author tells a good story and has created unique main characters and a compelling storyline. Readers who like rock star romances and character-driven books should enjoy this book.

This author is new to me so going in to the book I was not sure what to expect when I started to read Jax and Sid’s story but she had me hooked. I need Jax in my life. he had me fallen for him since the very start. Jax was real from the start and he knows what he wants... the raw emotions he has and his relationship with Sidney... he just had me swooning. Sidney is a strong female lead who knows what she wants and will speak her mind.
This is the love story I love to read about. There is instant attraction and It is believable that they are meant for one another. There are obstacles they have to overcome, but what relationship does not have those. What was refreshing the most was how the author writes about each character knowing what they want and expectations about the relationship before they crossed the boundaries line from study partners to something more. We also get introduced to other characters in the book and I love each and every one and they too have their own story that I need to know more about. The book is a must read the author just has a way with words and as a reader being able to see their love story and emotions as if you were a part of their love story.

“ It’s not a sacrifice to love you. It’s a fucking privilege.” ~ Jax
Those are just a few words how this author writes ... imagine reading the whole book and just falling in love with Jax and Sidney as well all the other characters in this book.... I know I did!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a brand new author for me and this is her debut novel and it was fantastic!! It was a bit of a different type of rock star book than I was used to but I really liked it and enjoyed the story. The characters were pretty great except for what was happening with Mia, Alex and River. I found that a bit strange but I loved Piper and Lucas and their story is next and I can't wait to read it.
This story is about very smart and serious student Sidney who has a really cute meet with rock star to be Jax when they run into each other at a coffee house and then end up having some fun all before 7:30am.
They form a friendship but because Sid is leaving college in a few months for her dream job and Jax is about to go on tour with his rock band. They have a very adorable friendship and I loved how his friends accept her and she accepts them as well. This is a slow burn story and I loved that they took their time deciding on what to do with each other. But at the same time they also supported each other.
The big stumbling block between them is Jax's rock star dreams and future as Sid believes that his music comes 1st to anything and she wants to come first with anyone she dates or commits to.
I loved that there is really no jealousy in this story except a twinge here or there and that Jax is not into one night stands and taking everything offered to him. Despite his roack star dreams he is a stand up guy with big dreams for himself and his friends.
This was a fun and flirty romance between two college kids about to start their professional futures and I loved their relationship and the friends they surround themselves with.
I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Sidney King is on the cusp of having everything she has ever dream of, she's in her last semester of college about to obtain her degree, and her new dream job is within reach. All she has to do is stay focused, keep distractions out, and it will all perfectly fall into place. But what happens when a sexy rock star wanders into her carefully planned world and turns it upside down? He is a distraction she never planned on...
The Study Date is a sweet and emotional friends to lovers story that will have your eyes glued to the pages from beginning to end. This wonderfully penned story delights on all levels, there's feels to warm the heart, banter to stir up some laughs, and of course the steamy moments to curl the toes! The moment I met this pairing they had my full attention, I was all in and ready to see how their road to forever played out.
It started off as an innocent friends-only relationship, but the more time they spent with one another the more evident it became that there was a whole lot more there. But they wavered on that friends and more line for a while, knowing what they had planned for the future wouldn't be conducive to a new relationship. Both had their lives planned out and love didn't make the list! But it wasn't long before it penciled itself in on those trusty lists...
I really enjoyed this one, it had everything I want in a story and more... it was so good! I highly recommend you get your hands on this one, it's a can't miss debut romance sure to check all the boxes!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Though this book started out a bit slow for me, I ended up liking it.
"We are a train wreck waiting to happen, but neither of us will get off the tracks."
Jax & Sidney both know that at the end of the semester that their paths are taking them away from each other. Both have different motivations for going down their own roads: Sid to her dream tech job, and Jax to rockstar glory. Yet, their immediate connection can't and won't allow them to ignore each other.
"If I can't have forever, please don't take away right now."
Even as the biggest lie - that they can only be friends - unravels in their very faces, Jax & Sidney try their hardest to stay unaffected. But how long can that last, when they both find in each other the brightest parts of life?
This story is one of those that grows on you as you read; you have to keep reading because you just HAVE to know what happens next. The rollercoaster of emotions that their relationship goes on will tug at your heartstrings.
Jax was a sweetheart. He defied the stereotype of arrogant rockstar almost immediately. I liked that although his feelings for Sidney initially made him uncomfortable, he never once disrespected her. Sidney took awhile to jump aboard the Jax train, but I genuinely understood her hesitation. Trust in men was something she'd never been able to cultivate because of the lack of a proper role model.
The guys of Glasshouse were a dream to meet. Their interactions felt family-like. I definitely look forward to all the other stories.
I truly enjoyed this read. I recommend it to all rockstar, friends-to-lovers, angst-loving romance readers. You'll love it!
I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.
Who knew that a study date, friend, would change your life completely.
Sidney has her life planned out for her. Finish college and get the dream job at a tech firm. She hasn't had the best of life but she does her best. Her mother died when she was young and her father was never around. He still isn't there for her now. She meets Jax, the local rockstar, at the coffee shop and her life changes from that point on. He ends up in her class and then her study partner. Sid is not the type of girl that puts herself out there but isn't too shy. Well, what could possibly happen while they are study buddies? Does she catch feelings for him? What happens when he makes it big as a rockstar? How does her father affect her life decisions?
Jax is an up and coming rockstar that all the girls go giddy over, the only thing is he met Sid and doesn't seem to care about the other girls. He gets her to agree to be study partners and also starts to have feelings for her. The only problem is that he is leaving to go on a six week tour when school ends. They have a discussion about not keeping this relationship going as she wants to end it when he leaves. Why, Jax has no idea and he tries to change her mind. Can he convince her that it can work?
Jessa writes a sweet romance that pulls on your heartstrings. The love they have for each other is strong but the past gets in the way. Jessa has a way with words that has you so engrossed with the storyline that you cannot put the book down. The Study Date is a definite addition to anyone's TBR list.
