Follow the breadcrumbs...without your memories, who are you?
When Judy Angel opens her eyes, the nightmare begins. Every shred of the past has disappeared from her mind. Without the help of memories, she must navigate her past and trust that friends and family are truly what they seem.
Finding a message from her younger self, Judy follows the breadcrumbs, sending her down a frightening path, and changing her life forever. Why did she run away so many years before? Can she trust the visions that haunt her nights? For Judy Angel, every memory is On the Tip of Her Tongue. But will that be enough to save her?
Jerry Roth is an award-winning author of Bottom Feeders, from Sunbury Press. Following up with this success, he released a psychological thriller, On the Tip of Her Tongue, one year later.
His writing career began with his award-winning screenplay, Gray Matter. Switching gears, Jerry created the critically successful Disc Golf website, Inkslingers DG and wrote for the Disc Golf Pro Tour in 2017.
His influences for writing can be traced backed to authors such as Anne Rice and Stephen King. Jerry’s upcoming literary projects include: a Gothic novel, Wish it away, and a Short Story novel, Throwing Shadows: a dark collection— Out now!
As noted in the blurb, the main character in this story has to reconstruct her life through a trail of breadcrumbs. When the novel starts, she has no memory of her past or the people who have factored into her life. Judy is married to Johnny Macklemore, a famous novelist who has asked her to hand-deliver his latest manuscript to his publisher while he attends to other business. Instead, Judy ends up in a hospital, questioning how she got there and failing to recognize her own parents.
When she returns to her childhood home, she discovers her younger self—Judy Angel—has left a series of clues enabling her to begin piecing her life together. Along the course, she will reconnect with past friends and a former fiancé, now a detective. She’ll also encounter Johnny’s parents, and a sister-in-law she never knew existed. Her in-laws are nothing as expected, and Johnny’s sister, Tessa, exists in a non-commutative state, unaware of what takes place around her.
This story has a lot of “legs”—both in the past and present. The plot threads meander, take detours, circle around, then come together in a deftly constructed conclusion. The suspense is slow-build and parts of narrative are woven with magical realism. I have a strange fondness for books that use damaged minds and mental facilities devoted to odd or unusual experimentation. Both lay at the heart of this story, but it’s also a tale of sacrifice, betrayals, and starting over. Particularly touching is Judy’s relationship with her father, Bud, something the reader doesn’t grasp in entirety until the last quarter of the tale.
Two things I positively loved were the author’s use of Harper Lee’s novel To Kill a Mockingbird, and Billy Joel’s song, Lullaby. Both show up more than once in the narrative, as does a small stuffed mockingbird that carries meaning for Judy. If you enjoy supernatural suspense with forays into magical realism, this is an intriguing story with plenty of surprises waiting along the way. I received a complimentary ARC of this novel for an honest review.
This was definitely not what I thought it was going to be....BUT get ready for a suspense thriller with clues abound! Can you solve the mystery of Judy Angel? Check out my video review of this book on my Youtube Channel; AreYouIntoHorror? here:
After 28 year old Judy 'Angel' Macklemoore wakes up after an accident, she realizes she is at her parents house, and she has no memory of who they are, or who she is. Why do her parents appear to her as almond shaped headed 'humans' but almost scary looking and she has no idea what has happened. After i had the opportunity to receive this book by its author Jerry Roth, this review has no out come on that fact.....
Now i had given his debut and previous novel "Bottom Feeders" a full 5 stabby review (check out my review here on my Youtube Channel AreYouIntoHorror https://youtu.be/BoGpQ7Sxsgk ) for its portrayal in pure demonic horror, this book is more of an honest and thought provoking mystery/suspense thriller. At first I had gotten to almost page 90, and when I was confused, (due NOT to the authors writing at all) it was something that I was just not comprehending and had to email Jerry and ask him some questions....LOL.. Now, he was so understanding that I don't normally read suspense mysteries, and he told me it was alright if I dnf'd this. Now, I am glad I didnt stop....however I did have to restart the book from the beginning. Now, let me tell you guys, Bruce picked this up immediately and read the entire book in one sitting, and he gave it a full 5 🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸 for the suspense and mystery of solving just exactly what was going on....me it just took a little longer. 🤦♂️
Now, if you love your suspense and mystery books that constantly are throwing you new paths and twists and turns....you are going to LOVE this one!! Now, I am the one who if I have to stop and think 'Okay, Richard, just go with the story........it'll all come to you in the end' then I lose interest, come on, I think I am the ONLY one in the world who STILL does not understand 'The Shawshank Redemption' movie.....LOL. Jerry will love that, since he was highly influenced by Stephen King as a young man, and inspiring writer himself. When you find out who Judy 'Angel' is and what is going on with her.....I am sure you will be glad you read it! Pick up Jerry Roths newest suspense thriller, but don't expect the horrors of 'Bottom Feeders'. 3.5 🔪🔪🔪
Well OK then!!! This is definitely an easy 2021 favorite and the easiest 5⭐s to give. That's the most FUN I've had reading in a while. I wasn't just immersed in the story...I was involved! I forgot where I was and what time it was. I "woke" up from the book and literally hours had passed. Sorry not sorry 😂😂😂
Extremely creative way to get the reader involved. You not only follow the clues, alongside the MC and her friends, but you're also digging up Easter eggs the author left snuggled all cozy like throughout the story. Again...FUN!
This is a slow burn to start, but in a good way, and about halfway through it picks up and spits you out at the end. I'm still dizzy 😂😂😂 So, so, so good.
I've read Bottom Feeders by this author and that was horror (also a good read). This one is mixed genres with psychological thriller as the main course, sprinkled with some mystery, a dash of supernatural tendencies and a heaping helping of homicidal maniac. Just my dish. 😂😂 Jerry Roth is an auto-buy from now on. GO...CHECK...THIS...OUT
Thank you to the Author Mr. Jerry Roth (@_jerryroth_ ) for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
SPOILER ALERT ⤵️ Judy Angel wakes up in hospital bed with very limited memory of her childhood. Even her parents and childhood friends she fails to initially recognize. Her parents appear faceless and her best friend of her past appears with the face of a rat. Why is her mind playing such tricks on her?
She does, however, seem to recall her memories of her life with her husband, famous writer Johnny Macklemore. But who is Judy Angel? And who can she really trust?
Judy must now search for answers to what happened to her to make her forget such a huge and important portion of her life. Deciphering and following clues left behind by her younger self she uncovers a world beyond imagination. Judy comes to realise that she possesses a unique ability like no other which she used for good. The intricate role of each character in her past life is slowly revealed with much betrayal, mysteries and revelations.
When I began reading my initial thought was 'oh, a good mystery novel' but nothing could prepare me for the surprise that was awaiting in this book. A plain old regular mystery turned into a psychological mystery into a supernatual mystery 😮 I was immediately hooked on all the twists and turns that took place and the way in which the mystery slowly unraveled itself. Just when I thought I had it figured out I really didn't! I was left shocked and surprised at almost every turn. There was no way I could predict the next move of each character or the outcome of the clues Judy uncovered. I felt like I was on a psychological rollercoaster! I also loved that Judy's younger self left the clues in her copy of to 'Kill A Mockingbird'. To A Mockingbird is my absolute favorite novel.
❓But really 'Without your memories, who are you?'
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Quick Synopsis: Judy Angel wakes up in a hospital without any recollection of what had happened or any memories of her past. As she tries to remember with the help from her friends and family, she stumbles upon a message from her younger self asking her to follow the breadcrumbs. What she uncovers later would forever change her life.
My thoughts: Jerry Roth did it again and this book did not disappoint! What an incredible and unique plot and I absolutely loved it! This was a supernatural thriller that had me at the edge of my seat!
It was a little slow in the beginning but once the pace picks up, oh boy, I can't put it down! The plot gets more twisty and as the layers of mystery begins to unravels, I just had to keep turning the pages. I enjoyed all these unexpected twists and turns! And don't think that a story based on memory loss is done to death - this was really interesting and unique!
Jerry Roth writes characters that you will love and hate. Judy is such an endearing and strong character.
I find it so fun and interesting that there is also "breadcrumbs" for readers to follow in the story. I am not sure if I got all the clues but it sure added a lot of enjoyment reading this book!
In a nutshell, this book wowed me! Although it is a supernatural story, I wouldn't say it is horror horror but leans more towards magical realism with a dash of sci-fi. I really enjoyed the plot, characters and the ending was perfect! If you like Stephen King's books, you may want to give this a try!
***Thank you Jerry Roth for this gifted copy to read and review. All views expressed in this review are my own and was not influenced by the author, publisher or any third party.***
On the Tip of Her Tongue is hard to classify; it's somewhere between psychological thriller, light horror and a mystery. We meet Judy as she wakes up with her memory missing in her hometown with her parents. Her husband, a famous author, is on tour and she must figure out who she is and how she got to the place she's in on her own. She's not sure who to trust and we spend a good portion of the story guessing with her just who the sinister force is and whether we can even trust what she thinks she knows. These pages are fraught with anxiety and fear - Judy swings wildly from going about her day in a small town to being triggered into memories that she's not quite sure are real. The writing brings that anxiety to a real fever pitch at times and yet it's not always clear what's going on until it all pulls together in the end.
There is a lot of tell, not show exposition in this story because we are quite often in Judy's head. We do get another POV towards the last third of the novel, but I missed that a bit in the beginning. I spent a lot of those early chapters not sure if Judy was a reliable narrator, a view of the sinister party, even if we didn't know who it was would have helped me enjoy this a bit more because the unreliable narrator trope is not a favorite of mine.
If you have a print version of this one, there are clues hidden within the text. I read the KindleUnlimited version when I was not able to access my hardbound copy and I missed that device but that aspect was really fun.
Thanks to the author for the gifted copy. All opinions above are my own.
Jerry Roth’s book On the Tip of Her Tongue is not only memorable, it will leave you with all the chills a horror/suspense novel is supposed to leave you with.
Judy Angel’s nightmare begins when she wakes in a hospital and not only does she not remember how she got there, she can’t remember her past. As she takes time to recover at her parent’s house, she finds breadcrumbs from her younger self written in her copy of To Kill a Mockingbird. Using the clues and her childhood friends (she doesn’t remember either), she searches for who Judy Angel is and why she is such a mystery to herself.
The characters in this novel are very well written. Judy Angel goes through some dynamic changes. Inside her lies a powerful inner strength that she didn’t realize she has until the mystery of her life is slowly revealed. When she rekindles the friendships of her past, it plays itself out like a Stephen King novel where each friend plays an intricate part and has their own strength. I really enjoyed Judy’s relationship with her father. Although Jerry leaves his audience guessing and, at times, uneasy, a father’s love for his daughter takes center stage in their relationship.
On the Tip of Her Tongue delivers in every way. Every page kept me engaged until the very end. It also made me ask the question Jerry Roth asks, “Without your memories, who are you?” Reading how Judy’s life unfolds made me rekindle some friendships from my own childhood.
Judy wakes up strapped to a bed. Her parents come in the room and she can’t seem to see their faces it’s like they have no face. She doesn’t even remember her childhood home. What’s going on? Her old childhood friend Maddie comes by but why does she look like a Rat, oh my! AS soon as I read her friend had a Rat face I was hooked. I read this book in less than 24 hours and loved the twist and turns, even looking for clues in the writing. The first half of the book is filled with mysteries the second half things unfold. I enjoyed Jerry Roth writing style direct without a lot of fluff. I was lucky enough to read Richard Wilson’s copy, when he had some questions for the author. I might have to read “Bottom Feeder” but I not sure about horror.😳🤪
Without your memories, who are you? 🦄🦄🦄 When Judy Angel opens her eyes, the nightmare begins.
🦄🦄🦄 On the Tip of Her Tongue is a suspense thriller novel by Jerry Roth. It's an interesting take using memories to play with the protagonist's mind and it's one that I've seen my fair share of, however the little twist that we get makes it all the more intriguing. The plot has multiple twists and turns and at one point I was so confused with what was going on (in a good way) and it took me a while to understand what was going on. Judy's character can be viewed as very basic, but given the situation and the fact that she's on a rollercoaster while she's trying to remember what her life is like, it's interesting to watch her fight back and grasp what's the truth and what are the lies. Her relationship with a certain other character took a major turn, emotionally, for me because while we see Jude's perspective we as readers don't know what to trust. I mention 'the character' specifically because that's the relationship that had me interested from the very beginning. Overall, loved the book even though it's a bit complex the smooth writing and engrossing plot made this a perfect suspense read. (There's a particular sub-genre this falls under but mentioning it will give major spoilers that I don't want to do....but I will say, it's not for the weak minded! 🙈) 🦄🦄🦄 Rated 8/10 Melina L.
Leather dug deep into Judy's wrists. She struggled against its resolve, thrashing like her life depended on it, and she thought it did. Judy Angel wakes up restrained in a bed with no memory of where she is or how she got there. When she discovers she's in a hospital, she remembers an auto accident and a little girl. The doctor, someone she feels she should know, tells her she may have taken a spill and doesn't know anything about a little girl. Judy thinks he's lying about her accident and also that her name is Judy Angel. Two people come to visit her, and she has no idea who they are; they don't even look human to her. As they speak to her, she realizes they're her parents. Judy's parents take her home, to the house she grew up in, to recover from her accident. There she feels both comforted and fearful, afraid of them and the house, though she can't remember anything or understand why she feels scared.
Judy gradually relaxes and begins remembering her parents and the life she once had with them. Rummaging around in her closet, she finds a copy of To Kill a Mockingbird with clues hidden inside that she left for herself many years ago. Following this trail of breadcrumbs, she reconnects with Maddie and Cal, two friends who both reassure and frighten her. Judy also remembers and contacts her husband Johnny Macklemore, a famous author. Johnny immediately starts telling her she needs to get away from her family and friends and return to the home she has with him. Judy is too busy rebuilding her life and won't listen to him, so he decides to retrieve her. She discovers she has certain psychic abilities that tie her to everyone in her life, and she must relearn and strengthen them if she wants to stay alive.
On the Tip of Her Tongue reminds me in many ways of Blocked Out. Both stories feature women who find themselves in the hospital with no memory of how they got there. Elise Forsythe has none of Judy's supernatural talents, but she also must search out memories to rediscover herself. Each woman finds flaws within herself that she must overcome to build a life better and stronger than the one before.
I was lucky enough to win a Kindle version of this book in one of Goodread's giveaways and am very glad I did. Paranormal mystery is one of my favorite genres, and On the Tip of Her Tongue is a shining example. While I've read many featuring people with telepathic abilities, Jerry Roth's method of psychic vines and tendrils was something new and very illustrative. The story gripped me from beginning to end and was hard to put down to do such pesky things as eat and sleep. This would make a great start to a series.
Thank you Jerry for gifting me this mind-blowing book!🤯
The story begins with the central character, Judy Angel, not remembering why she’s at a hospital. She has extreme memory loss…but with a twist. She sees people’s faces weirdly like animal faces and she also has strange visions and sensations. Alcohol and also some people make things worse for her.
Judy embarks on a mission to find out basically what happened to her, beginning with her hometown, and why she’s in the situation she is. That’s about the best I can come up with because I don’t want to reveal too much. This is a book you best go in blind. Just know that while Jerry is known to be a horror author, I wouldn’t place this book as horror but more towards supernatural mystery mixed with magical elements, maybe? You can definitely tell it’s far off from a regular mystery.
What I really loved about this book is that it’s written in such a way that the reader also gets engaged in solving the puzzle along with Judy on her past. The first 60-ish pages of the book are a slow burn and a bit confusing because I couldn’t tell if Judy was really amnesiac or messing with the reader but as the book trode along, it became clear that Judy and the reader “were following the breadcrumbs” and piecing together clues bit by bit on what the heck is really going on. If you feel a bit stuck with the beginning of the book like I did, I implore you to keep going. The pace picks up and the plot only keeps getting twistier with, shall I say… interesting characters along the way. Overall, a very unique book that I won’t stop thinking in a long time. Fun Fact: the restaurant mentioned in the book is based on a real establishment called The Thurman Cafe in Columbus, OH.
Jerry Roth does it again! On the Tip of Her Tongue is a great psychological thriller that is rich in character development and filled with mind-bending twists and turns.
There was a lot of stuff to unpack in this book (characters, places, etc.), but I believe that Jerry’s flow and pace of the tale made it accessible even for someone who gets easily overwhelmed like me!
Some of the scenes reminded me of Stephen King’s novel, Gerald’s Game, with its heavy themes and how Judy, the main character, would retrieve her memories. Dream-like moments. Psychological trickery. Creepy imagery of faces. That’s what I love! I also loved the use of To Kill a Mockingbird and how it acted as the key for Judy to go back and retrace her steps to put all the puzzle pieces in her mind back in place. Music is also used as an important motif.
The build-up to the revelations toward the end of the story was very effective, and Jerry did a great job bringing the reader along on a fun, guessing-game ride until you come to the satisfying end. And, much like his previous work, I found that there was no fat on this story, no filler. It was a perfect length and didn’t take up more pages than it needed to. I liked that the chapters were short, allowing the reader to take their time and get all the bits and pieces, at least on their first read-through. Since this is such a meaty, jampacked tale, it’s recommended to read it twice just to absorb it all!
Overall, you’ll enjoy this book if you’re a fan of thrillers and genre-blending stories. Jerry Roth is a talented author and keeps the hits coming!
Out story starts with Judy, she comes to in a hospital room in her home town with no recollection of her life or the people in it. Judy left her hometown in a rush several years ago to marry Johnny, now a very successful author, and hasn't been back since.
Left helpless with no clue of who she is or who she was she decides to stay with her parents for a short while and in her teenage bedroom she discovers a book which is the start of a trail of clues allowing her to work out who she was and what has happened to her.
I really enjoyed reading the story of Judy and was kept guessing as to where the story was heading. There were several false leads and possible routes it could have gone down which the author was able to balance masterfully and I really enjoyed all the characters we met throughout.
They were all very vivid and the emotions I felt towards them were very real. I will forever dislike Johnny and will always have a soft spot for Cal after reading this. The story does jump around the timeline a bit, which is only natural with Judy rediscovering her memories, but I found it very easy to keep track and that it didn't confuse the general storyline at all.
Without giving away the plot I can say that overall I found the ending very satisfying if rather surprising, I don't read thrillers often but this one definitely held my attention and I enjoyed the slightly paranormal aspect to it. Free copy received in exchange for an honest review.
I love a good psychological thriller and On The Tip of Her Tongue does not disappoint. Roth weaves a compelling and suspenseful narrative as the reader tries to reason what is true right along with Judy. There are several unique twists and turns that will keep you on your toes and the author also presents the emotional roller coaster Judy is on quite well. Overall, I really enjoyed this (as well as getting the opportunity to beta read this last year!) and would definitely recommend picking up a copy. I’m excited to see what Jerry Roth does next.
I really liked the big picture aspects of this book; like the characters and plot and nature of the story. I think Roth is particularly good at describing strange dreams and visions. And I cared about what happened to Judy throughout.
What didn’t end up working for me well were the details - the actual writing. I’d love to see more variety in sentence structure and maybe not quite so many adverbs. Possibly hiring a freelance editor for future publications may help make the next book even better.
If you’re a reader who is more interested in the story than the individual words, you might very well enjoy this book more than I did.
Thanks very much to the author for reaching out and offering an e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
The suspense in this thriller became more exquisite with each twist of the story. Judy starts this book in a hospital bed with some very strange sensory input. I thoroughly enjoyed Jerry Roth's characters and the end was very satisfying.
Jerry Roth is a masterful storyteller. This book was so imaginative and terrifying!!! I was on the edge of my seat from the very beginning to the very end. I loved the way this book came around full circle. An absolute amazing read!!!!! I would definitely recommend this book!!!
Wow! What a great read. I had gotten it for free and couldn’t remember (ironic) what it was about. I thoroughly loved the development of the story line and little twists and turns it took. I like to predict what’s going to happen, and this one…I couldn’t, which was fantastic. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting a capturing story and good writing.
Review for 'On The Tip Of Her Tongue' by Jerry Roth.
Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Jerry Roth and Aberration Press Books.
Publication date 8th June 2021.
This is the second book I have read by this author. I have previously read 'Bottom Feeders' which I would highly recommend.
I was originally drawn to this book by its gorgeous eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. I am also a huge fan of Jerry and if this is half as good as 'Bottom Feeders' it is sure to be a fantastic read. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Aberration Press Books. I have yet to read a book published by Aberration Press Books that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).
This novel consists of 2 parts and 43 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This book is based in Ohio, USA 🇺🇸.
This book is written in third person perspective and the main protagonists are Judy Angel and Johnny Macklemore. I enjoy books written in third person with several protagonists as it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters.
It is set over multiple time lines. When books show what has happened in the past and what is happening in the present I find it really helps the reader (if it is well done) understand why things are happening and what has lead to the present activities and decisions. It also shows the bigger picture
Well done Jerry you have done it again!!! What an absolute psychological rollercoaster ride!! Another epic page turner!! This book is extremely well written with vivid descriptions that drags the reader into the storyline. The synopsis, title and cover suit the plot perfectly.
The storyline starts off slowly and I would liken it to the build up on a rollercoaster, when you hit the top its full thrust ahead through twists, turns, screams and shocks!! It is an intriguing and unique storyline which is extremely thought provoking. Jerry asks and really does make you think "Without your memories, who are you?”. Who indeed?? This is definitely one of the most unique story lines I have read in a very long time!! I really enjoyed and was grateful for the fact that Jerry uses the name "Angel" for Judy when we delve into Judy's memories or past and uses her actual name "Judy" when we are in the present. This saved alot of potential confusion as the storyline is quite complex anyway. I loved how Jerry mixes the past, present and memories to take us on a journey using detours until we have come full circle, everything is covered by the end. The storyline is filled with friendship, betrayal, love, magical realism, family, shocks, supernaturalism, horror, sacrifice, suspense, tension and much, much more!!! What more could anyone ask for!!! I have always been intrigued and fascinated by novels that include mental health facilities, experimentation and damaged minds and Jerry takes all of these and weaves them into a fascinating story. The fact that Jerry adds breadcrumbs throughout the story for the reader to find is a fun, unique and enjoyable touch that I really enjoyed. Well done Jerry!!
The characters are complex, diverse, strong and realistic. I really connected with Judy's character and really felt for her throughout. Judy's relationship with her father was very touching and is further revealed towards the end where you find out about sacrifices made. Her relationship with another character is certainly extremely complex and I'm very pleased on how things worked out there. I really liked Becka and Cal's characters and also connected with them both quite quickly. I was unsure of what to make of Maddie from when I "met" her but believe what she did at the end "saved" her character more in my eyes. I don't want to say anymore as I don't want to spoil the book for anyone reading or wanting to read it.
Congratulations Jerry on yet another success!!! I am looking forward to seeing what you have up your sleeve next. This would make one heck of a fantastic movie!!!
Overall a very complex supernatural filled unique psychological thrilling page turner which will leave you thinking about it long after you finish.
Genres covered in this novel include Psychological Thriller, Science Fiction, Suspense, Thriller and Psychological Fiction among others.
I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as anyone who loves paranormal, supernatural or mind intriguing novels

Imagine being in a car accident, ending up in the hospital, waking up not knowing how you got there and worst of all, forgetting your memories. That’s what happened to Judy Angel, or did it? She experiences memory loss, couldn’t recognize her parents disfigured faces, doesn’t know who she is exactly, and starts to feel strange around certain people. I wanted to know what happened to Judy and what was this force around her not wanting her to recover her memories.
As a reader of mainly non fiction, reading this thriller this month of October was fun. I enjoyed the characters in the story and the way it unfolded mysteriously. Without giving too many details I’ll share a bit about Judy Angel story. Her parents Bud and Emily were supportive and caring, her friend Maddie gave me mixed good and bad vibes, Cal was a sweetheart and once her lover, Dr. Otis Bain gave me mixed feelings, I wasn’t sure if he was being honest in the diagnoses he would give Judy, and her husband Johnny Macklemore, was manipulative and hard to trust. Judy had so much to figure out about the people in her life and what happened to all her memories.
This thriller comes with twists, hidden messages, and some puzzles to be put together. When Judy finds a hidden message inside her favorite book “To Kill a Mockingbird,”that helps her start finding her way through her misunderstandings. I loved the creative metaphors that author Jerry Roth uses to describe the feelings and moments that Judy experiences. My favorite chapter is 39, because it was intense and scary. The whole scene played in my head like a movie 🎥. It was awesome!
I enjoyed this thriller, it’s a fun page turner 🤓📖
Judy Angel opens her eyes one day and can’t remember anything. All of her memories are gone, and she has no idea how she got to her hometown. She knows she was on her way to drop off a manuscript for her husband, but everything else is blank.
Her parents take her back to her childhood home, where she finds messages from her younger self. Now she has to face the demons of her past, and figure out why she chose to run away to begin with.
When I first picked up this book I didn’t know where it was going. I knew it was about a woman with memory loss, but I would’ve never guessed what turns it would take. It was a very surprising story, and I did enjoy it mostly.
If you enjoy reading thrillers with lots of twists and turns, then this will be for you. For me, it was sadly a bit too “twisty” in some areas. I’m not saying a story needs to be fully linear, but at some points I got lost or maybe I just didn’t pay attention enough? I don’t think it was the writing, there’s just books that are meant for you, and some that are not.
A Haunting, Twisting Tale That Lingers Long After the Last Page
Jerry Roth has crafted a psychological thriller that’s as chilling as it is immersive. On the Tip of Her Tongue pulls you into Judy Angel’s fractured world from the very first sentence, and doesn't let go.
The memory loss premise isn't just a gimmick here; it's masterfully used to keep you guessing, doubting, and frantically turning pages. I loved how Roth weaved mystery, suspense, and raw emotion into a story that felt both intimate and spine-tingling.
The writing is sharp. The pacing? Flawless. And those eerie visions Judy experiences? Downright goosebump-inducing.
What really stood out was how personal the fear felt, how trust, identity, and memory all tangled together to create real, psychological horror. It's not just a story you read. It's one you feel.
If you're a fan of thrillers with heart, horror with brains, and a protagonist you genuinely root for, don’t sleep on this one.
A thriller set in Columbus challenges readers to suspend their disbelief.
It's a creepy story about memories lost and found through supernatural powers. Following the clues, you'll slowly uncover the truth, or a truth the author wants you to know.
Using a variety of typefaces, Jerry Roth crafts a creative tale that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It's definitely not a story for the dark of night or a stormy day.
Brief synopsis: Judy Angel can't remember her past and frequently forgets her present. Following clues from her young self, family and friends, she slowly regains memories. But when she realizes that her partner, Johnny Macklemore, is tearing away memories, like a vampire drinking blood, she must stop him before he destroys her and everyone in his way.
Thanks to the author for a copy to read and review.
As an avid reader, I was enthralled from the beginning. I read this book in two days because it was difficult to pull myself away. On the Tip of Her Tongue is a unique and captivating story. The brain is a remarkable and strange organ that we still don't completely understand all of its capabilities. This story delves into an unimaginable possibility, until now. Jerry Roth is a brilliant author. I will be watching for more of his books in the future.
The control the mind has over your body has always fascinated me. This book takes it to another level. It is not as much a mystery as it is a thriller with some paranormal thrown in. It held my attention and I read it to the end but it didn’t flow. Maybe that is what the author wanted to achieve, slow roll with many twists and turns to the finish.
This is the first book I have read of his and I will definitely read more of his.
OK, this is one of those WTH did I just read books! In a good way. It's very sci fi (ish) which I normally don't like but this is mixed with thriller. So you get a thriller sci fi genre. There were a few times I wanted to punch a character in the book. If only I could reach through with my mind. Overall, this is an excellent book that kept me needing to know more. Such a fun and thrilling read.
What would you do if you could not remember your life and who you really are and what you can really do??? This is a fantastic thriller I love books like this that keep you guessing until the end a definite recommendation!
