So when a twist of fate brings her back to Penny Creek, I’m hell bent on winning her back. Turns out I can still make her blush, she’s still full of surprises, and our chemistry is hotter than ever.

But she’s made it clear that in two weeks, she’ll be returning to the life she left behind without me. Suddenly, I’m in a race against time to get her to stay. And just when I think we’ve scored our second chance, our pasts come back to push us apart once more.

She Got Arrested? Wait. What?

Please, do yourself a favor and read the prequel by the same name before jumping into this book. It'll improve your understanding of the characters (main and side) SO much. Can you get by without reading it? Yes, but there's history that comes up A LOT.

Lori finds herself back in Idaho on a mission to save the wolves. When she crosses paths with Caleb after six years apart, things go topsy turvy in so many ways. The fact that neither of their hearts ever healed and the chemistry is still palpable does complicate things a bit.

In the short time they are together again, Caleb and Lori manage to stir up quite a bit of trouble. Some of it the fun kind (read HOT 🔥🔥🔥), some of it the scary kind. I really like the way the two came together again and how real-life situations were thrown at them as a couple and individually and handled accordingly - not always rationally, of course. They make a good team. I look forward to seeing what else is coming for them (as secondary characters in the upcoming books, I'm hoping for updates) and the other members of the Morgan clan. The glimpse we get of what Wyatt is up against looks FUN! 😉😈😉 I'm voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book.

Caleb and Lori had a fling in the past, but their hearts have never healed. Now fate brings them back together but will they get their HEA?

Falling For My Fling, book 1 in the Falling Hard series by Dakota Davies. There is a prequel to this story, and while you can read this book as a standalone, I recommend reading the prequel first. Since the past comes up often, you will understand the complete story better.

Caleb is now a responsible father who cares for his child and family, but he isn't living.
After that one summer, Lori grew into this adventurous, determined, and passionate woman, and I'm here for it.
This couple has so much attraction and chemistry, I loved them together. Caleb and Lori go through so many emotions, from passion to tenderness and love. I was able to feel all those emotions.
The sex scenes were hot, well-built, descriptive, but not too much.

I loved how descriptive this story was, the author brings you right into a scene. I wasn't reading the story, I was living it.

All characters were complete personalities. The author made it feel like I knew them, not just the main characters but the side characters too.

While the prequel was a light story, Falling For My Fling had a more heavy tone. With everything that happens, it makes sense, but I didn't expect it.

If I were the author, I would give the story another title and cover. The prequel and this book have the same title, which confused me a couple of times.

I loved that the author intertwined the love story with a critical issue, the wolves.

I enjoyed reading Lori and Caleb's story, I hope to get glimpses of them in the next books. If you love a mature, realistic, second chance story with full characters, a fleshed-out storyline, this is a must-read.

This was a good read. Caleb and Lori had a summer fling. Caleb made a choice and Lori wasn't happy. Now six years later they are given another chance. Thankfully this time everything works out for them.

Lori and Caleb were madly in love until Caleb broke it off with her about 5 summer ago.
Caleb was ready to leave everything behind until he found out he was going to be a father. Now he is a single father to 5 year old boy and a firefighter in Penny Creek. When fire breaks out and he was called in, there is a researcher may needs to be rescued and he finds out that researcher is Lori. Now he will get his second chance and he will do everything to bring her back.
Lori promised herself she wouldn't come back to Penny Creek. She keep telling herself she is only back for her study until fire breaks out near her wolf pack and she had to get down. She never got closure from Caleb and never expected to run into him so quickly.
Now Lori and Caleb is back. Can they finally get their closure or will they give each other another chance.
Story moves quickly and there is suspense regarding wolf pack, greedy ranchers and Caleb's full of twist and turns.

I received a free ARC from Hidden Gems for the promise of an honest review.

It was good. Caleb and Lori fell on love six years ago but circumstances pulled them a part. Now Lori is back and studying the wolves in the area. Caleb is a firefighter and single dad. As Lori was out hiking she sees a forest fire and calls in the fire department. Caleb and Lori meet on a trail as Lori is heading to safety. In that brief encounter, old feelings resurface. Lori ends up having to stay with Caleb. They both try to fight their feelings for each other. When the my finally give in to their feelings, new circumstances around Lori's research tries to pull them a part.

Overall, I did like the story. Caleb and Lori are relatable characters. The only thing I didn't like was that I felt like the storyline with the Parks brothers was left unfinished. I hope it continues in the next book of the series.

If you like second chance romances you'll love this book. A summer of love six years ago was a special time for both of them. Night after night and then it was over. Fate brings them back together six years later and their is is hotter than ever. Caleb and Lori's story will have you laughing and crying. They are great characters who are likable and fun. The secondary characters in the book add a lot to the story. Lori is determined to avoid Caleb when she's back in town for two weeks. She's on a mission to save the wolves and a wildfire is raging. Of course he would be the first firefighter on the scene. He is determined to win her back and never let her go. The story is a sweet romance that you will enjoy. Does she leave after two weeks as planned or does he convince her to stay. I read an advance copy via the author and voluntarily chose to review it.

The fire may start in the forest but it burns between them even hotter

Falling for My Fling is the first book in the Falling Hard series but it continues the story of Lori and Caleb that started in the Falling of My Fling Prequel book. This book can be read as a standalone but I would suggest the prequel be read so that you get a better understanding of the characters and their relationship. Six years ago they had a fling and things have changed in both their lives a lot since then. Lori is biologist and has come back to town for the summer to study the wolves to ensure they retain their federal protection so they are not killed by ranchers and hunters. It is now July and Lori has been camping in the forest when she wakes one morning to the smell of smoke. It is not campfire smoke but a forest fire. She knows she needs to call it in but that brings back memories of him, Caleb. When she realizes that the fire is getting bigger she makes the call and hopes the crews get it under control quickly so that the wolves she thinks have cubs will be able to be saved. Caleb is a fireman with Rogue River Fire and Rescue department. He is also a single father to his son Taylor who his sister Annika helps looks after, since his Taylor's mother took after when he was several months old. As Lori is hiking out a fire truck pulls up and out gets Caleb. Things are strange between them but not at the same time. But when all the hotels in town are full and Annika sees Lori walking as she is driving home with Taylor taking her home also things are about to get strange....as Caleb and Annika share the house.

This story is a wonderful mix of romance, drama, second chances, family, friends, mystery and emotions. I really loved Lori and Caleb as they have an unexpected second chance, but do they fall for each other and make something or do they have another fling and scratch that itch? The journey to their HEA is one that you will want to take with them. Plus the secondary characters that we get to know are a great group who get their own stories also.

The blurb of this book intrigued me.

Lori was on a mission to save a wolf pack, and she ended up making some enemies along the way. She was steadfast in doing the right thing to save these animals, and she had a fire inside of her that made it clear she was up for the fight.

Caleb is a firefighter, and single father. He and his family are extremely close and I adored their dynamics.

There were times I skimmed pages to get through what I felt was unnecessary wordiness that didn’t move the storyline along. Then there were parts of the story that had brought forward some things I wanted answers to, yet, those things weren’t explained in any way.

You could tell there was something between Caleb and Lori, but I didn’t feel any level of intensity behind it. There were a few hot moments between them, but there wasn’t much else, no sort of rapport, or back and forth banter to further showcase what was meant to be between them.

While the premise of this story had me intrigued, the delivery fell flat for me. I felt as though there could have been less unnecessary details, and more details on parts that were left without any answers.

A second chance romance. This story has some crazy scenes, lots of heat, and chemistry. It is filled with drama, conflict and intrigue. You will fall in love with the characters.

Lori is doing some field work tracking wolves . Her PhD research goal is to make sure they retain their federal protection, which is up for review soon. She's excited when she spots some cubs. Then she notices smoke. After calling the fire department, she heads back to her car. Only she has to go in another direction because the fire is spreading fast. She's walking when the one man she's trying to avoid shows up.

Caleb is a single dad and works for the fire department. When he gets a call, the last person he expects to see, is her. What is she doing back in town. He broke up with her six years ago. He always knew it was a mistake, but he did it for her own good. Now he's face to face with her and all the old feelings are coming back.

This is cute and a little steamy. I’m glad the characters were able to work through their issues. I also enjoy how the entire family comes together to help with any situation.
I was kind of annoyed with the beginning because it felt like a lot of repetition between Lori and the wolves and Caleb with Taylor. That’s my only complaint.
I loved how the author did the whole fling thing in a tasteful way. I adore the whole Morgan clan, Grady, and Lori. I even enjoyed her meddling mother and cried when they had their heart to heart.
I enjoyed this more than the prequel because dang (sorry I owe Taylor a dollar) Caleb really came through on this one and Lori kind of reverted back to who she was before she met Caleb.
For those looking for books with single dads, a feisty heroine who will fight for what she believes in, swoon worthy romance, hectic family that has your back, adorable five year olds, deranged exes, politics, and animal rights will enjoy this book.
Highly recommend.

Lori would rather not see Caleb again, after he broke her heart, but she is a biologist doing her research and tracking some protect wolves who happen to be close to the area he lives (Penny Creek). She ends up crossing paths with Caleb, and still feels the spark. Can she forgive him? Or will there be no second chances for them? The ranchers are not happy with the wolves been protected, will this endanger Lori? I enjoyed this second chance romance with it's angst, secrets, danger, and passion. Caleb's family are fun to read about too. I liked both Caleb and Lori, both are caring and determine people, although sometimes they both make mistakes.

six years later and the heat is still there.

Having read the prequel to Lori and Caleb’s love story I was desperate to read this one. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Due to Caleb’s fact he was to become a dad with an ex he felt he needed to let Lori go and continue with her dreams, they never forgot or got over each other. Circumstances bring them back together 6 years later. The heat, the passion and their love is still there but she can’t forget what he did. It’s a beautiful love story with real issues ie the protection of wolves , the author pulled me in and I’m now invested in the Morgan family. Not many authors can do that ( to me) , looking forward to Wyatts story, if he’s anything like Caleb then I’m gonna need to cool down first. Well worth reading.

I really ‘got’ both Lori and Caleb from the start. Having read the prequel, I was really looking forward to this book and wasn’t disappointed. Ok I was a little disappointed at the start when I realised how the story had evolved from the prequel but I soon got over that when they were pushed together again. I loved how their time apart was explained and what had happened to them both during that time. It really added a lot to the story and explained how that had shaped them as adults. The side story with CJ, Delaney, Annika and the wolves really took the book from ok to great. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Will Caleb and Lori have a second chance at love, after their break up for 6 years? Being apart from Caleb was, and is still hard for Lori. Now she is back in Penny Creek and swears to stay away from him. They will have many obstacles to overcome. Get ready for a bumpy ride, with drama, suspense, secrets and fireworks between the new and improved firefighter and daddy extraordinaire Caleb and his ferocious
wolves protector. This is an excellent read.

I received an ARC copy of this book via bookfunnel and this is my voluntarily review

One of the many stuff my kindle deals. This one was a pleasant surprise. It was well written, decent plot, flowed well… both MC’s were very likable
3.5 stars because I don’t think we ever found out what happened to the Parks siblings and there was no mention of what happened with CJ and Delaney…. That all just faded away and that irritates me in a book. Why put them in there if your not going to conclude it. I thought I missed so ever back and searched but I don’t this I did. I’ll eat my words if I did miss it though

This is an emotional, entertaining and enjoyable story!! I was captivated from the start and couldn't put it down. It had me laughing and crying and hoping for the best. Caleb and Lori are fantastic characters. I have to say that this is the best book I've laid my eyes on. This series is definitely a top favorite. Dakota Davies has always been a favorite and this book just reminded me why. Brilliant, just brilliant!!! Highly recommend reading this. As always I look forward to reading more from Davies.

Fighting hard for love - family & romance

There is a prequel for this book which is full length. These two are really a duet. The prequel isn’t required reading but I personally think it’s a must. In this book, we start 6 years after we left Caleb and Lori. This was a really good story which was a little suspense with a second chance romance. I will be reading the next book in the series!

Can Lori and Caleb get any HOTTER?? Lori is smart and she wants to study biology in California. Her boyfriend breaks up with her. She takes a job at a Summer Camp for kids with Learning Disabilities in Penny Creek. Caleb's family owns the Summer Camp and he is the instructor for the rafting excursions department his dad started. Caleb and Lori meet and what can I say!! I want to know more about this HOT couple!! I truly loved this book!! Would like to read more in this series!!

Can he fix what he broke

Lori A Caleb were in love. Z Caleb's world started to fall apart. He was sure that the only way to protect Lori and allow her to achieve her career was to break up. After 4 years there had to be another way.
It is a very good story with well developed characters. My only complaints are it needed better proof reading and the last half of the story was sex.
