Very detailed book. As some who just spend over a year completely redoing my flat, I found this book has covered a lot more than what I had to learn myself from YouTube and online articles. So I found useful even for general house work. It's not a self-contained guide, you will still need to study a lot of the techniques suggested. But at least you will know what to look for. I appreciated that alternatives for both UK and European market are suggested as many of the readers might not be British. It's a must read if you are even considering converting a van as this will give you a clear picture of what it entails.

The only con I found was that I'm still not very clear on placement of electrical and gas devices throughout the van. I think those could have been more detailed in pictures, examples and tips. That's something unique to camper vans (as opposed to houses / flats).

My partner and I have read this book entirely and continue to return to it throughout our van conversion.

It has made the more daunting areas of the build (electric, plumbing, gas) sound a bit more manageable. The example system designs on page 138 have helped us to visualise what we'll need in our van.

I also love the price comparisons of popular products.

There are many 'things to consider' within the book that we wouldn't have been aware of without it.

This is a must-have for van builders :)

I've not seen a book like this yet, one that outlines everything you need to know about converting a van.

I look forward to starting my new adventure, free from the rent trap - I have a whole country to see and it's been very exciting reading this book to gain the practical skills to make a dream a reality. (I just have to pass my driving test first..., but as soon as I do, I'll be thoroughly prepared).

Consider this book to be a valuable knowledge resource, or a companion for that matter, throughout your van build journey. I consider it to be a narrative that one should follow during the build, and that one can always turn back to.

What I think that this book is not, is not a deep knowledge source for the various build areas (gas,water,electricity systems, insulation, etc). For that, I recommend the reader to read specific books on those topics, or hire professionals.

I was irritated, on several occasions, by the Great Britain setting for this book. Its content has been adjusted for a North American audience, however, and mostly this works. Lots of valuable info. Plan to do this ourselves! That is, I plan to purchase a van and convert it into an RV.
