Ofelia Archer should be riding high after a blissful week spent with her boyfriend Zacharias “Zach” Sully. Sun, fun, and cocktails make for a great break … until she gets home. Then she realizes exactly how far things can fall apart in only a few days. It seems in her absence Ofelia’s mother Marie Charles has been taken in by a cult, and Ofelia is convinced it’s not the sort of group who worship beignets over chaos and bloodshed. When Ofelia tries talking to her mother she finds a different woman waiting for her … and she’s beyond concerned. The French Quarter attracts weird people but this time the strife is different. When she starts digging, she finds more than she bargained for … and yet the answers are less than she was hoping for. Ofelia is a witch with a plan but even she’s at a loss. When her brother Felix is hurt in the pursuit of reclaiming Marie, the Quarter’s favorite magical maven swears revenge … and she’s going to need Sully to help her deliver it. Their new enemy is powerful and he’s hiding behind a gaggle of innocent humans. Freeing the French Quarter from his grip leads Ofelia down a dark path. Only Sully can help her … and together they will bring their city back from the brink. The question is: Will they both survive to enjoy the fruits of their labor once they make it to the other side?
Oh I really loved this mystery. They mystery awaiting Fe and Sully when they get back from vacation is an interesting one, fully of twists and turns with a great ending and can I just say Pascal was awesome in that ending. I’m excited to see what Fe turns the new building into it’s going to add a lot to future stories.
I loved this book! There was all sorts of fun. First there is a religious cult, then there was the cult harassing folks, then Fe's mother decides to join the cult and is even stranger than usual. It all works out, though. I definitely recommend this book.
I felt a bit underwhelmed with this one, but I liked it nonetheless. It feels like there were no clues to follow in the story, but you get presented by the results at the end without having to follow along in the first place. I’m a bit disappointed and had expected more.
When Ofelia and Sully return from their holiday all is not well.. Krewe is still standing, the books all balance and Felix and Oscar haven't killed each other.. no, it's the one person who Ofelia didn't worry about.. her mother.
Marie Charles has managed to get involved with a cult, right out in broad daylight she's wandering around in a purple polyester robe preaching about enlightenment. The whole thing smacks of magic but Ofelia can't find a trace. When questioned Tobias the leader of this new enlightened group speaks meaningless platitudes, there's no substance to anything he says. It's all nonsense so how can he have recruited so many people, strong willed people like Marie so fast? With his numbers all but doubling each day and with them taking over Jackson Square and not just cutting off the tourists but converting them it's going to be a race to discover the truth and stop it once and for all.
But before they can Marie tries to convert Ofelia and is then involved in an attack on Felix and Sebastian appears to try and get the new building from Ofelia. Realising that they need to protect their extended family the couple are being delayed from finding the truth.. until, with time running out, Ofelia does a little bit of digging in Felix's mind to see what really happened when he was attacked.
That truth is hard to take in but they have one chance to rescue everything and everyone they hold dear can they meet the challenge or will Ofelia make the ultimate sacrifice?
Fun in the sun is done for now. Vacation is over and it's time to get back to normal life for Ophelia and Sully. Not they ever get much of a chance for "normal" in NOLA. Sure enough, they barely have time to walk into the bar, when they are told Ophelia's mother has joined a cult It's hard to say what was more surprising; that her Mother had joined a cult, or that they wore polyester robes, and in Public. Her mother was wearing POLYESTER! In PUBLIC! What's a daughter and her intrepid detective boyfriend to do ? A better question is, what Won't they do to get to the bottom of this mess? When Felix is attacked and ends up in the hospital, (with mom putting the blame on him), the fight is on! This is one cult leader who has no idea who he's messing with, but he's about find out; the hard way!
I have read the series up to My Brew Heaven. This book is, by far, the best in the series. The good characters have evolved into great characters. They have become real, but with superhero powers. But they are real. I love them all, even the villians. The setting is New Orleans, need I say more. The plot in this episode, wow. I couldn't put it down. Read it in no time because I had to know where it was going. As far as all the other elements in a good story, they were well thought out. There were many sub plots that came together well in the climax. The interaction between the characters was intense but also humorous. I would definitely recommend this book. Please read the series because the development of the characters and ot lines are an adventure in themselves. It was So Much Fun.
This is an extraordinary supernatural cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters and a fun and entertaining storyline. Ophelia is a witch who owns a bar in New Orleans around Bourbon Street area. She bought the bar from her father who still hangs around and helps her out. Her boyfriend is a local police detective and also happens to be a shifter. Together with a few friends they keep an ion the quarter in New Orleans to make sure evil and bad things don’t destroy it and protect the people. Has a lot of neurons culture mixed in is an entertaining cast of characters in the story occasionally gets a bit dark due to some of the creatures they must fight. I don’t know an excellent and entertaining adventure. Check it out
I've read and enjoyed many of this author's books. They are , normally, fun and entertaining. In this book, Felix, the flirtatious and good-looking brother, was hospitalized with a head injury. The nurses were fighting over who got to take care of him. His pretty young nurse pouted and baby talked when she had to leave for the police to speak with him. When Felix was discharged the male doctor had to explain why he couldn't take a nurse with him. I've been a nurse for 32 years and am really disappointed in this portrayal of my profession. I could of ignored a few comments, but the ongoing theme of nurses as lecherous idiots was too much.
Ok so Fe and Sully have just enjoyed a week of bliss on vacation, except for the th tee phone calls Fe has to make everyday to check in back home to make sure Krewe is still standing.
But when they get back they’re simply not prepared for what awaits them. In the week they were gone a cult has formed in the Quarter and none other than Fe & Felix’s Mum has joined.
Something fishy is up and with a lot of twists and turns plus the reader gaining some insight to Fe and Felix’s youth, they have to get their Mum out of the cult before someone ends up dead.
If I had to read "You're not the boss of me" one more time,I think I was going to explode. And sorry, but not sorry, two adults in a consenting sexual relationship are not deviants or perverts. I loathed the way that word was used. I believe the writer has some serious hang-ups about sex. Not only that, if this was supposed to give insight on women of this generation, God help the poor males. Storyline was fine but the interpersonal relationship between the two main characters leaves a lot to be desired.
First I have to say what a great story; never knew what was going to happen, who was involved, and why, excellent twists. Next I found it so "crazy," ( I read this at the end of 2023), how similar this story is to what's happening in our politics, we have millions of people trapped in a cult and don't seem to realize it; its awfully baffling how they think their cult leader is going to give them anything but sorrow. With that said, fantastic job Ms. Hart, love your books and your imagination, also, the cover artwork is exceptional.
I highly recommend this fascinating book set in the hauntingly beautiful New Orleans French Quarter, and the supernatural series in which it is, to readers who love reading mysterious fantasy. Enjoy! A special note: Lily Harper Hart also has many wonderful series written under her other pen name Amanda M. Lee. If you haven't if discovered these, I encourage you to do so, they are very entertaining also.
My Brew Heaven (A Supernatural Speak easy Cozy Mystery book 6
This was another winner. I love this as series and this Author. I highly recommend all her books and different series. She writes under different names so you have more books to love. She has wonderful characters and great story lines in every series. I have read quite a few different series and love every one of them. Over 55 books. Diana
Enjoyed this story immensely! Ofelia's and Sully's bond is undeniable, and they make a cute couple. The strong sense of community and the tight-knit relationships are another aspect that makes this such a stellar series. An imaginative villain, family secrets coming to light...and another anticlimactic takedown! Oh, well, I guess you can't have everything!
Ofelia and Sully make such a good couple! This book was pretty intense and was so interesting! I absolutely had to finish it so I could see why Marie was wrapped up in this cult. The end was a bit surprising but I loved how it ended. Just the right amount of suspense.
Fe and Sully are two of the best characters Amanda M Lee has written. They are fun, loving, strong, snarky, and always ready for an adventure. NOLA is the perfect setting for this group. If you enjoy strong characters and a great story the A Supernatural Speakeasy series is definitely worth getting. As always I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
Ofelia has her hands full this time: her mom has gone and joined a cult. Not just any cult, but one that wears polyester robes (shudder). It’s up to Sully and Ofelia to figure out the game of the cult leader before their friends are seriously hurt. This is a thrill packed ride that shouldn’t be missed!
AWESOME book just like the rest of the series. I DID HATE THE ENDING THOUGH. The part where it said NEXT BOOK out Dec. 7. I can't wait!! I need 5 maybe 10 more books to be in this series and ready to download to MY Kindle. I LOVE the characters SOOO much. I think I've gained weight reading them though. All that talk about beignets and biscuits n gravy!!! and GUMBO!!!
Guess I'll start ALL OVER AGAIN with book 1 now. They are definitely good enough for a 2nd reading
I love the stories in this series. They're all original and don't all revolve around someone always being after Ofelia. It's all about keeping the Quarter safe. I like the fact that Zach isn't always worried about Ofelia getting hurt. He respects her craft and trusts her instincts. He also considers her his equal, and that's how they go into battle ... together and side by side.

I am enjoying this series. Ofelia and Sully return from vacation to find father, brother and business all in good shape. The mother is another issue and the focus of this story. Pascal is turning into an interesting character and protective of Ofelia. Interesting twists and turns made for a great read.
I'm finding each addition to the series gets better and better. Very much enjoyed the storyline and characters in this book. Would like to have more with Baron, the kitten, though. I'm glad I decided to see what this series was about since I do enjoy mysteries with New Orleans as the setting!
A cult has come to New Orleans. But this cult is a bit different. Within a week or so, it's number of members has risen to nearly two hundred. The thing that confuses Ofelia and Sully is that her mother has been taken in by this cult. They believe magic is involved, but not the kind of magic that Ofelia is familiar with. Can they figure it out in time to save her mom?
Ofelia and Sully are a delight as always! The mystery was entertaining and definitely humorous in parts as well. This author always writes a great book and this one was excellent!
I love these characters! Wonderful storyline. Just wish it was longer! Keep up the good work and I can’t wait til next month. I love how you give us a list of what is coming. I have each day marked on my calendar and this book was downloaded at 9 am. Thank you.
This is a fun series about a witch in New Orleans along with other paranormals. The plot and subplots move quickly, making it hard to put the book down. The characters are all developed and the conversations flow naturally. I can't wait for the next book!
Well done! Another notch for Lily Harper Hart! Excellent romance even though its the continuation of a great romance and not the the, meet, sex and happy ever after. These stories ARE the happy ever after and we get front row seats! Thank you Lily!!
Leave town for a week and the entire Quarter gets sucked into a magical mess. It was great watching the police force unite with Fe and Sully to cean up the mess. Wish I could have seen the crawfish boil though.
Ofelia and Sully get back from vacation to find a new cult in town, and uptight judgmental Marie has joined. Now the power duo have to figure out the true meaning of the cult and their ultimate goal.
Excellent read! Love that you used the word discombobulated!! Your books are always great! I love Pascal and how he's an integral part of the story! Great job!!
This series is a favorite of mine. I really enjoy the setting of New Orleans. I also thoroughly love the snark, the characters, and the mystery. This was definitely another hit! I'm looking forward to reading the next one!
