The lyrical story of a woman's existential crisis, the end of seeking, and the willingness to lose everything to find true, lasting freedom. A combined off-the-beaten path India travel adventure, bittersweet romance, and deeply personal spiritual memoir, this book shares the profound, inexpressible grace of encountering one's spiritual teacher, or guru, and is an homage to the absolute faith and fearlessness required to be released from the shackles of suffering.
Truth Seeker is the long-awaited follow-up to the spiritual travel adventure, The Adventures of Bindi Girl: Diving Deep Into the Heart of India (2012).

After reading "The Adventures of Bindi Girl", the first book in this series, I was swept into Erin's world of adventure and awakening. The vivid sights, smells, and sounds of Ma India she shares as she follows the unfolding of her path give me the sense I am along for the ride. It's a ride I want to go on. It's the ride of getting off the ride. Getting off the merry-go-round. Transcending the small self.
Erin generously offers a glimpse into her inner world. The world of courageously following her truth all the way down, no matter what. The world of a bona-fide, living, breathing "awakened" person, who has found her truth. No more seeking. No more suffering. And yet, still a human, in a body! I found inspiration and encouragement, and even synchronicities between what was happening in the book and what was happening in my life, as I read her story. As these synchronicities arose, I took them as signs that the right path is unfolding in front of these feet as well.
Reading Truth Seeker is like taking two journeys—one through India and one through a seeker’s search for meaning and a guru to help guide her. The writing is genuine, and I truly enjoyed seeing India through Erin’s eyes as she shared the honesty of her heartbreak and then her awakening under her teacher. Along with its vivid descriptions of the culture and places of India, Truth Seeker also offers a wonderful introduction to the concept of non-duality and the student/guru relationship. This book taught me more than I expected and left me thinking about it long after I finished reading it.
This is an excellent book that helps seekers understand non-duality. I found the writing very lyrical and beautiful. I also appreciated the stories about how the author’s teacher schooled her on accessing the authentic spirituality within us all. The highlight of the romantic relationship and beautiful travel descriptions make this a must read. Wonderful book!
If you read a lot of 'spiritual books,' as I do, you can be filled to the brim with theory. Truth Seeker is what happens in one woman's life when the theories become fact in the day-to-day. There's romance -- human-to-human and human-to-India -- and courage and humor and an incredible degree of acceptance of life as it comes and where it is. And that might be the essence of those spiritual books, after all.
I very much enjoyed reading Truth Seeker. Often I felt I was right there in India with the author, both geographically and emotionally. But, considering the heat and the tough traveling, I was relieved to be sitting on my couch and moving vicariously with her through her adventures and quest. It's an extraordinary – and heroic – narrative. One can't help but admire and, perhaps, be in awe at the anguish and frustration Reese fights through in her determination to fulfill a deep need for answers, and ultimately a quiet mind. How fortunate she finds a guru, Ramesh Balsekar, and was at a point in her journey to be open to his teaching.
