Rate this book
Calliope Thorne is a good girl. A straight-A student, a rule follower, and an aspiring ballerina.

But most of all, she’s a good sister to her four older brothers.

Brothers whom she loves and adores to pieces. Brothers who love and adore her to pieces in return.

And who hate just one and one thing only–Reed Jackson.

Rich, arrogant, and the most popular guy at Bardstown High, Reed is Callie’s brothers’ enemy and she has sworn to stay away from him.

Until one night when she wanders into the woods and finds herself in his clutches. A villain with pretty gray eyes and a seductive smirk.

Until he asks her to dance for him with a look in those eyes that makes her forget why falling for her brothers’ enemy is a bad idea.

NOTE: This is a 40,000-word prequel novella for A GORGEOUS VILLAIN. The story concludes in A GORGEOUS VILLAIN.

Song Recommendation:
Mr Perfectly Fine by Taylor swift.
(Sorry guys I just had to add this song, it just fits the theme too well)

I hate him.
I fucking hate him so much

And this was so misleading,
Reed Jackson was never Callie's boyfriend.

Also, this novella has probably the most OW scenes out of all of Saffron A kent's book. Tame but still there.

When the Callie first saw Reed, she saw him getting a BJ from OW.
I don't know what Saffron A kent's is doing but this is usually not her M.O in books.
There is usually NO OW scenes after they first see each other.
And even if there is, it's usually a kiss, not a BJ SCENE. Thats a first.
I am not sure if he saw her but he KNOWS she was there when he got caught.
I prefer my male lead to not have any engagement with OW after they first laid their eyes on the heroine

Also, there wasn't any clarification if Reed did anything with OW after they first talked.
They said girls were still surrounding him but would have love clarification on whether he was fking around after Callie and him first talk before they made the pact.

I am 80% sure Reed will not be celibate during their separation, so I do not have high hopes for The Gorgeous Villian.

I have to admit, there were some scenes that were kinda cute, but the bad easily overwrites the good.

Honestly, I think the star of the book was Connard, Callie's Oldest brother.
He seems to be more of a man than a boy-ahem-Reed Jackson, or any of the boys in the book.
He is the only one that didn't seem to be a player, all the characters were giving huge player vibes.
And I can already forsee a virgin and never been kissed heroine that is going to try to change their manwhore ways.

And by the way, if you ever forget,THIS is why you should hate boys:

He staring at me with flashing eyes. “I didn’t fuck you, did I? I could’ve. But I didn’t, and trust me, that was hard. It’s not every day a guy gets a lap dance from a horny ballerina. I’ve had my fair share of cheerleaders and I know how bendy they can be. I know how bendy you could be. I’ve seen you dance. “And some guys don’t like virgins. They say they’re too much work. You can’t fuck them how you want to. But I’m not one of those guys. I like them. I like training them. I like breaking them in. I like when they bite their lip and make those hurting noises. I like when they push you away like it’s too much for them. But you rub them in the right place and they cling to you like you’re their entire world. I like that. I liked how you clung to me and how when you came, you looked like you couldn’t believe it. You looked like nothing had ever been that good. And I could’ve rocked your world last night. Even more than I did. But I didn’t. I let you go. So yeah, minimal damage.”

Gosh he is so dreammmmyyy, he like fucking cheerleaders AND Virgins.

The main questions are:
How manwhore is this guy?

Can I trust a man like him wouldn't cheat on me?

Am I supposed to believe this man is supposed to be a combination of Simon?
Simon would NEVEr

Unless he is getting on his knees and crawling around for forgiveness, I don't think he will ever be redeemed in my eyes
And I swear, if Callie forgives him with a snap of a finger, I will officially deemed her as an embarrassment of our gender.

I know I am being harsh but the bar is already so fucking low for guys in real life, I am not going to set the bars even lower for guys that is not even real.

Why can't Saffron A Kent produce more guys like Abel Adams from Gods & Monster?
She obviously CAN write about guys who are devoted and loyal.

I am crying at the unfairness of how people still allow men-boys-to get away with fking around but the girls always has to stay prim and proper.

At this point I rather him not be celibate in the next book. If he wants to be a jerk he better be committed and do it all the way.

I hate it when they start being a little nice and then super mean and then nice again. Like make up your mind please. Stop being so hypocritical.
Every time they show a bit of a softer side, the heroine just falls all over their feet too.
If you want to be an asshole then fine, do it at the start and to the end.
Don't act like your nice to the heroine and then once their back is turned, stabbed them in their heart.

I wouldn't like you any more for being an asshole, but at least it wouldn't annoy me as much when they pretend they have softer or nicer side.
I can just purely hate him.

Excuse me while I go watch some Tom Hiddleston's Interviews to chase away the Bad taste Reed Jackson left behind and be reminded of what a real man is like.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
RE-EDIT 17/5/2021:
Okay, I just remembered another core reason why I didn't like Reed.
I didn't understand it till now,(and that might be why the novella is still floating around my brain)

Reed OFFERED to make a pact with Callie that he wouldn't ask other girls to dance for him(meaning he wouldn't fk with OW) if Callie didn't dress like a hoe cuz he got ✨jealous✨
(this is literally how the scene played out,I'm not joking)

Sorry but I freakin hate it when the heroes make fidelity/loyalty as this incentive or prize for the heroine.
Like DAMN the bar is in HELL.

LOYALTY is a given.
You sure as hell don't ask your boyfriend to be loyal, because obviously he should.
The fact that loyalty is part of an exchange between them; it makes the Hero seem insincere and make it sound like he would cheat if the heroine is okay with it.
Reed/Romeo/Roman whatever the fuck your name is, you don't need to do anyone a favour.
Ladies:If he WANTS to be loyal, he will be.PERIOD.

Callie had to witness him with girls all these years and got jealous every time, and the 1 TIME, 1 DAMN time he got jealous; he had Callie on pussy lockdown.
It's not fair at ALL
Double standard is really happening in books, and y'all really have to stop.

Sorry Saffron A kent but how dare u compare him to Abel.Fuckin Abel would punch the shit out of Reed for acting like such a donkey.

ABEL WOULD NEVER TREAT HIS PIXIE THAT WAY, HE WOULD RATHER TEAR OFF HIS OWN HEART.
It's like comparing polluted lake water with sparkling water and saying it taste the same🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚

When she said The Gorgeous Villian is better than Gods & Monster, I know I have lost all hope for her future books.
If a manwhore Hero can replace a FULLY DEVOTED and LOYAL Hero for her, the CHANCES of her writing a better Hero in her future books is zero to none.

Ok I'm done now.Sorry for the bull-blown rant, I can get invested in the characters and it would just turn me into a full-blown empath, so its as if that shit is happening to me.

ᴛʜʀᴇᴇ sᴛᴀʀs
He, Reed Roman Jackson, provokes and I, Calliope Juliet Thorne, make good choices.

♫ sᴏɴɢ ʀᴇᴄ ♫ ~ Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (LINDSEY STIRLING)

-ˏ͛⑅ ᴘᴀʀᴛ ᴏɴᴇ ~ ᴍʏ ғɪʀsᴛ ᴛʜᴏᴜɢʜᴛs ⑅ˏ͛-

Hmmm. This book is a difficult one for me to rate. On the one hand it was, well, it was not good. On the other other hand, the story was interspersed with some highly entertaining moments. Thus, my eternal dilemma.

I think because I went into The Wild Mustang & The Dancing Fairy with low to middling expectations I was actually surprised by how much fun I had with the book. I was expecting a true dumpster fire, and instead we got a small trash fire.

Still a bit explosive, but in a fun way 👏 ✨🤩

-ˏ͛⑅ ᴛʜᴇ ᴘʟᴏᴛ ⑅ˏ͛-

Callie is obsessed with Reed Roman Jackson - and yes I will be using his full name the entire review - because. . . it's his title. Reed Roman Jackson is a raging asshole, and he doesn't really notice Callie. However, one fateful night they meet in the woods and get mutual boners for one another. Thus, begins a romance for the ages. . . yay. Oh, yeah, there's also some stupid rivalry between Reed Roman Jackson and Callie's brother Ledger thrown in for dramatic tension.

-ˏ͛⑅ ᴘᴀʀᴛ ᴛᴡᴏ ~ ᴛʜᴇ ɢᴏᴏᴅ ⑅ˏ͛-
Right in front of my eyes, I discover that Reed Roman Jackson, the gorgeous villain, my brother’s rival and enemy, loves his little sister.

ᴛᴇᴍᴘᴇsᴛ ᴊᴀᴄᴋsᴏɴ

I may be very meh on Reed Roman Jackson, but oh my gosh, I think I'm in love with his sister, Tempest. We may not have gotten many scenes with her, but boy oh boy are the scenes we do get with her are memorable. Her displays of loyalty towards Callie, while a bit head scratching considering they met not that long ago, were very endearing.

In addition, the way she was just there for Callie at the end of the book really made me take notice. Basically, if nothing else, read THE WILD MUSTANG & THE DANCING FAIRY for the teeny tiny Ledger x Tempest crumbs. That's the ship I'm going with and I'm excited to see how that whole thing shakes out.

ᴛʜᴇ ᴛʜᴏʀɴᴇ ʙʀᴏᴛʜᴇʀs
sɪᴅᴇ ɴᴏᴛᴇ ▸//▸ so, MS SAFFRON A. KENT, we are getting a spin-off series for Callie's brothers, right? RIGHT?

To be perfectly honest, Callie's brothers saved the book for me. Not only did each and every one of them shine in their limited screen times, but they also served us one of the cutest scenes in the book.

… Why are you guys bringing me cupcakes?
Ledger side-eyes Stellan and Con. ❝Because you’re our sister.
Getting serious, Shepard nods. ❝And we love you.❞
❝We also respect you,❞
Ledger says.
And your choices.❞ Shep goes next.
Also your independence,❞ Ledger adds, making me think that they’ve memorized their lines.

Moreover, I sincerely loved how they treated Callie like a person. Nothing grates my nerves worse than the whole "overly overprotective brother//father" in. . . any medium. I get it, brothers tend to be protective over their sisters, but I don't need your sexist BS permeating our relationship. Luckily, Saffron A. Kent did a great job allowing Callie's brothers to be protective, but also supportive. They clearly loved, respected, and supported Callie's decisions and autonomy. And when they did have concerns they were valid and warranted.

All in all, the Thorne brothers were a great addition to THE WILD MUSTANG & THE DANCING FAIRY. They added shot of energy into a somewhat bland story. Every time they appeared on page I did a tiny happy dance like the weirdo that I am.

ᴛʜᴇ sᴍᴀʟʟ ᴍᴏᴍᴇɴᴛs

What kept THE WILD MUSTANG & THE DANCING FAIRY from being a complete bust, aside from Tempest & Conrad, was actually, Reed Roman Jackson and Calliope Juliet Thorne. I know, crazy right?

See, for most of the book *cough* the beginning and the end *cough* Callie and Reed Roman Jackson as characters were, well, insufferable. Seriously, I didn't like either of them. However, there was a moment in the middle of the novella where I saw a glimmer of magic. I saw it you guys, I saw the spark.

Because apparently when you spin, I stop. When you dance, I have to watch.

There were brief moments in the story where Reed Roman Jackson and Calliope Juliet Thorne actually made a - *gasp* - cute couple? My personal favorite "cute-couple-moment" happened when Reed Roman Jackson helped Callie with her dance routine in the name of "chivalry." It was such an honest and sweet moment that I couldn't help but let out an audible happy sigh.

❝… What are you doing?❞
❝Showing you how chivalrous I can be.❞
❝What?❞
❝Usually I don’t mind being the bad guy, but I don’t like to be accused of crimes I haven’t committed. So if you want me to twirl, I’ll fucking twirl and save you from distress and be your knight in fucking armor.❞

The above moment was so stinking cute and really showcased just how soft Reed Roman Jackson can be towards Callie. I loved his gruff fondness of her. He obviously didn't want to be swept away by her, and yet, he can't help himself. Likewise, in these small moments we witness - and somewhat believe - Callie when she claims that Reed Roman Jackson is different. I was able to believe for maybe point five seconds, that yes, Reed Roman Jackson isn't a complete asshole.

-ˏ͛⑅ ᴘᴀʀᴛ ᴛᴡᴏ ~ ᴛʜᴇ ɴᴏᴛ sᴏ ɢᴏᴏᴅ ⑅ˏ͛-
And in this moment, I realize that even though I hate lying to my brothers and keeping secrets from them, I’ll still do it. I’ll still lie for him now and forever. I’ll lie and hide. I’ll seek and run and stop. I’ll go wherever he is.

ʀᴇᴇᴅ ʀᴏᴍᴀɴ ᴊᴀᴄᴋsᴏɴ

Dear Lord, I fucking hate Reed Roman Jackson. Yep, hate, as in actively hating. I actively dislike Reed Roman Jackson. I don't see the appeal, at all. One of Callie's brothers summed his entire character up perfectly -

❝He’s a rich punk who only cares about himself. I know him and I know guys like him. Guys like him are selfish, untrustworthy, and reckless. Guys like him don’t care about rules or people. They only care about themselves. Guys like him can’t handle responsibilities. They leave without so much as a glance back at what they’re leaving behind.❞

That's pretty much Reed Roman Jackson, to a T. I don't care about his stupid white hoodies, I don't care about the boner he has for his white Mustang, and to be perfectly honest, I could give zero shits that he has a "wolf gaze" or whatever the fuck Callie calls it. I just don't care about Reed Roman Jackson, period.

What was so frustrating about Reed Roman Jackson was his lack of POV. It was desperately needed. All the information about his character came from Callie, Tempest, or Callie's brothers. All three of those sources are bias in some way. Due to that, I could never get a firm handle on his character. For example, why is he a raging asshole? Why does he want to have sex with his car? Does he actually like Callie? What's up with the feud between him and Ledger? Why is soccer so important to him? Is his asshole limp dick personality real, or is it just a front? Who is Reed Roman Jackson?

Basically, I've just read a whole damn novella introducing Reed Roman Jackson, and yet I don't know the first thing about him. As of right now, I don't hold him in high regard. The shit he pulls with Callie while not deplorable was icky. It reads very "immature-fratboy-jock" and less "callous-and-damaged-asshole-with-a-huge-chip-on-his-shoulder."

Ultimately, I left THE WILD MUSTANG & THE DANCING FAIRY very meh on Reed Roman Jackson. I'm going into A Gorgeous Villain with zero expectations. I'm hoping that Reed Roman Jackson will prove me wrong. However, you guys, he's got a really high bar to clear. Will he end being a better hero than our sun-kissed King, Arrow Carlisle? I don't knowwwwwwww.

ᴄᴀʟʟɪᴏᴘᴇ ᴊᴜʟɪᴇᴛ ᴛʜᴏʀɴᴇ

Did I say I disliked Reed Roman Jackson? HA. Well, if I actively dislike Reed Roman Jackson, then I very much dislike Calliope Juliet Thorne. For the love of all that's holy, she just needs to stop, take a breath, and greatly reevaluate her life choices. Seriously, someone needs to get this girl a life coach ASAP, because she making shit life decisions.

Okay, maybe I'm being a little bit harsh, buuuut, there was something just so, cringe about Callie. I think it was the lack of self-awareness combined with the outrageously dramatic inner monologues. PLUS, she choose someone just as cringe to fall madly in love with, our wolfy boy, Reed Roman Jackson. I - just *sighs* IDK, I just couldn't take this girl seriously.

𝓕𝓲𝓻𝓼𝓽 ~ she reads as somewhat delusional. For real, Callie created a whole entire, very much one sided, relationship because, I kid you not, she saw him getting a blowjob. Oh you read that right, she saw him getting a BJ from some random girl and BOOM, love.

ho there, behold, one of the greatest and most romantic meet-cutes ever put to page

But then I heard a sound — a moan — and I realized that there was a girl in the room with him. And she was on her knees, almost hidden by the teacher’s desk, in front of him. That’s when I knew. That the girl he was with was… you know, doing stuff to him. And before I could stop myself, I gasped.

*clears throat* yeahhhhh. That's the caliber of delusion we're dealing with. To be honest, it's just plain old hilarious that Callie took the above moment and interpreted it as romantic. Like, I almost want to tell her to pass whatever glue she's huffing.

𝓢𝓮𝓬𝓸𝓷𝓭 ~ like Salem Salinger, our friendly neighborhood witch, Callie seems to have this weird identity complex. She keeps repeating over, and over, and over, and over, and over that she's a "good girl." Then the minute she starts hanging out with Reed Roman Jackson she's a "bad girl" because, get this, she dances for him. wooooooooooow. so bad. I just, *sighs*. Honey bunch, sweets, lovely, that's not a "bad girl" move. Also, I've gotta ask, who ever called her a "good girl" except for that weirdo Reed Roman Jackson? Truly, I wanna know.

𝓣𝓱𝓲𝓻𝓭 ~ ummmm, no offense to Callie, buuuuut, she's freaking dumb. No, seriously, she really is. Reed literally laid out his entire plan of how he was gonna win the stupid soccer competition. He for real told her that he was gonna "ruin her" and then tell her brothers. He fucking got off on the idea. So, when he then DOES JUST THAT, what's Callie's reaction?

❝… The boy you were lying for all this time, he was bragging about you on the field.❞
I’ll brag about how pretty their sister looked the next day.
[…] No, no, no. He wouldn’t do that. He promised me. He promised. He wouldn’t break his promise like this. He wouldn’t.
I somehow pull myself together and say, ❝There has to be a reason. There has to be an explanation.❞

Callie, sweetie, no. just. . . no.

Ultimately, I think what disappointed me the most about Callie was the way she appeared to be so different from the Callie we met in MY DARLING ARROW. The Callie in MY DARLING ARROW seemed to have her head on straight, but here? Man her head was so far in the clouds she was practically hanging out in outer space. Also, her sinking Reed Roman Jackson's car was undercut by her crying and trying to retrieve said car. *sighs*

ᴛʜᴇ sᴇx ᴛᴀʟᴋ
ᴇᴅɪᴛ ▸//▸ at this point i'm resigned to the fact that all of MS. KENT'S heroes are, at some point or another, going to talk about their respective heroine's vagina in the third person. ugh, what a grim fact.

Here's what I was suddenly hit with, out of the blue, for no discernible reason ~

❝Yeah, you know that I’d become what they call me. That if I catch even a whiff of her scent, I’ll go wild. I’ll become an animal and I’ll snap my teeth and I’ll snarl. And nothing would calm me down except her, except the sight of her, the taste of her. You know I’ll become a villain for your fairy pussy.❞

Just - no. Stop it. Stop it right now MS. KENT.

-ˏ͛⑅ ᴘᴀʀᴛ ᴛʜʀᴇᴇ ~ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄᴏɴᴄʟᴜsɪᴏɴ -ˏ͛⑅

ғɪɴᴀʟ ᴛʜᴏᴜɢʜᴛs

Clearly, I had a lot of feelings towards this book. I can't sit here and definitively say I hated THE WILD MUSTANG & THE DANCING FAIRY. I wish I could, but I can't. However, I also can't lie and say I loved this book. I didn't. Instead I fall somewhere in the middle. The overdramatic teen soap opera moments had me laughing. Meanwhile, the incessant inner monologuing made me want to pull my hair out. I am sincerely hoping Reed Roman Jackson gets punched in the dick. Likewise, I think Callie needs a loud and obnoxious wake up call. Moreover, MS. KENT just needs to stop talking about vaginas in the third person. I know it's a hard habit to quit, but I wholeheartedly believe she can do it.

And yet. . . and yet beneath all the hilarity and ridiculousness lays a great story. I saw it whenever Callie was on page with her brothers. I witnessed it in the small moments between her and RRJ. Ultimately, this book left me tentatively hopeful. I'm hopeful that I'll end up liking A GORGEOUS VILLAIN. At the very least I know I'll find RRJ and Callie's antics hilarious.

1) sad because this cover is better than AGV's.

2) "fairy pussy" 😭 middle-aged women must be stopped

3) what's with repeating the same words OVER AND OVER AGAIN? "a gorgeous villain", "a good girl", "wolf eyes", "fairy", "wild mustang"... I swear I got it the first five times, no need to be more than half the content of this. But I still have a bit of faith in AGV.

4) But she really knows how to write angst because those last two chapters were the best thing about it.

5) can't believe it but I'm already half in love with the Thorne brothers.

i’m so tired of saffron kent’s aesthetic of weirdly obsessive female characters who are so beyond weak for the male characters that they lose their senses. literally that’s the entire personality of her books. plus, the pet names??? the cringe is real. 🥴

i don’t know why i thought or maybe was hoping that calliope & reed would be better than salem & arrow, i think because the little scene that they had in MDA was actually a serve, and also calliope actually seemed to have her personality in check compared to salem. therefore, hoping for callie to serve growth in the actual book because if the book is anything like this novella— no, thank you.

so far, yet again annoyed + disappointed. the only saving grace of this novella was conrad thorne— he’s my mans, but if he ends up with one of callie’s friends, he’s not my mans.

I loved Reed.
Loved the Thorne brothers.
Callie...... loved/somewhat annoyed relationship with her. I hope she doesn’t act desperate for Reed in the upcoming book. Like she sometimes went from being normal to cringe.... really quick. And I’m like whaaaaaat.

The best thing she did in the book was drive Reed’s Mustang to the river. Like YESSSSSS GIRL.

Even though I know she gives in to him.... because of the pregnancy trope....... I hope she makes Reed work for it? NGL I’m actually confused with what’s even going to happen in A Gorgeous Villain

I’m going to stay positive and wait for their actual book to come out. Since I did love some of their moments together like how he twirled for her 🥺🥺 and how Callie was talking about sweets she liked but can’t have since her partner said she is getting to heavy for him too carry (ballet partner) and Reed was like fuck noooo I’m going to get them for yooooou

the wild mustang & the dancing fairy, a summary:
1. "besides, i showed you a good time, didn't i? so no hard feelings."
"no hard feelings."
"in fact, you should be thanking me"
"i should be thanking you"
"yes. for the fact that i made sure there was minimal damage"
"what minimal damage?"

2. "my hands land on his ribs and my fingers clutch onto his hoodie.
a thousand thoughts, a thousand sensations, explode in my mind, but the very first that jumps out is that it's soft.
his hoodie.
it's the softest, coziest, plushest thing I've ever touched. even more than the sweaters that I knit for my brothers.
the thought that immediately follows is that no wonders he loves it, his hoodie".

god, the amount of repetition in this book was simply INSANE. i think if you took out all the paragraphs that went on like that and the mentions of the word "fairy", there would be almost nothing left to read. after this mess, i'm only going to read "a gorgeous villain" because it has one of my favorite tropes and i’m a sucker for it 🤦🏽‍♀️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

You know what the best part of this little prequel is?

You go into the main event, the enemies to lovers story already hating the asshole.

The moral of the story? Or should I say the question we should always ask ourselves.

Is it worth it?

I hope he lives with all the regrets.

Unfortunately life isn’t fair because you know she’ll live with hers and he’ll probably forget.

I hope I’m wrong.

Ohhhhmtgod. Someone needs to give me some air. I can't breathe 🥺 that ending has killed me!!! I mean I knew that Reed would destroy me but the intensity with which these two gave me the emotions?!! I am losing my freaking mind!

This book is the prologue book of Reed and Callie's story. This is how they meet, and how they fall with each other to the very end of their relationship with Reed's car going down and down🤣.

As much as I love my baby Reed I would like to admit that he is a real ass and deserves some slaps. I hope Callie gives it to him! He was such an ass in thia ending. My heart broke for my poor fairy. She didn't deserve that!

The emotions this author always gives me is crazy. Like I don't know how she does it but I am always hooked in her books, her words and everything that she writes just touches my soul. She is my absolute favorite. If this was the prologue and how hard it hit me, I can only imagine the level of destruction the actual book will cause!

Callie and Reed are all set to destroy us and no one is freaking safe! Please for the love of God, read this book because it's just nothing short of perfection and the perfect teaser to tell us what is in store for us with this book!

Don’t know what the negative reviews are for? I was so scared to start this book because of them. But I guess, it is a good thing I did not judged the book by its review. I did not like the repeated words SK used to describe Reed but overall I actually liked it. Especially the friendship between tempest & Callie.💕

3💫 out of 5

Overall it was good. Yes, it was clique and some lines were repeated so many freaking times it was frustrating and the h here , Callie is really dumb...well idk a sixteen year old to be this dumb but again she has a sheltered life so I can let it pass? Or I can't as her brothers warn her about Reed and she even sees his playboy persona too herself but she was like " the heart wants , what it wants" and in the end , end ups breaking her heart Lol.
But i guess it was necessary otherwise how could we get the whole St. Mary settings and her going to an all girls reformed school and met her ex later . For more drama and angst i guess.
I'm hoping against hope that in the next part of the book , Callie will appear as a mature girl..pls let her god! I can't stand her stupidity! I feel equally bad and angry at her. Perhaps This is how girls are until their first breakup? Don't know...

It was a good one time read, but not something to come back again to read.

It was like Callie and Reed 's past before we saw them again in St. Mary world.

Where to start...

∆ The writing of the book ruined it for me, I had observed the same thing with previous the book but I guess I didn't mention it. Let me tell you what exactly in the writing ruined it for me. The repetition of same words.

Here have some examples:
"I don’t listen to him. Of course I don’t."

"I am a good girl, aren't I?"

"I’m in love with him, aren’t I?"

"I don't curse, don't I?"

"So will you?" "Will you what?" "Do it I mean"

"I don't curse I mean"

"I hate him I mean"

"I don't do it. Of course I don't"

"I lied to them, of course I did"

"I want it to happen, of course I want it to happen"

This might not be the exact lines because I forgot to highlight (I will definitely do it once the book is released) but it was much worse and there were way too many of those lines I got so annoyed that I was pulling out my hair, literally.

∆ Another thing I didn't like was Callie's obsession with Reeds, it's so embarassing and honestly ruins the whole enjoyment (except I did like the whole dirty talk, why do you think I rated it 2 stars?)

∆ I also didn't like few things that were written but I guess I can ignore them... Okay not really because they AgAiN ruined my enjoyment. If you want to know what I am talking about go through my notes & highlights or just comment and ask cause I really don't wanna write it.

But despite all that I will read this book, but I have a feeling I might DNF it. Surprisingly, I thought the only reason that I might not like this book would be because it has got second opportunity trope (I don't like that trope) but I didn't have problem with that AT ALL but then again I can't judge the whole book just by it's prequel, right? So yeah I can give it another chance and also because I am really interested in reading about other characters.

*Please excuse any errors that might have crept in (cause I haven't checked the review... )

So, I started reading A Gorgeous Villain not realizing that I was actually reading the prequel until I finished it. I didn’t even realize there was a prequel so imagine my surprise when the book suddenly ended on a cliffhanger.

And by cliffhanger I mean ‘hang on I’m jumping off this damn cliff’ because this book is a hot-ass mess

The Plot

What exactly is the plot? I still wasn’t sure when I finished the novella. This story is about a guy named Reed/Roman/Roman Reed Jackson/(Gorgeous) Villain/(Wild) Mustang (H) and a chick named Callie/Fairy/Fae/Good Girl (h). Why do these characters have so many nicknames? I CAN’T KEEP UP.

Anywho, the very small amount of plot follows these two characters through their forbidden love romance (if you can even call it that) where the heroine falls in love with the heroes hoodies. You think I’m joking? I’m 99% sure this whole novella is just about the heroines hard-on for hoodies.

My hands land on his ribs and my fingers clutch onto his hoodie. A thousand thoughts, a thousand sensations, explode in my mind, but the very first that jumps out is that it’s soft. His hoodie.

Well, I will see him at school but I’ll never see him like I did tonight. Or talk to him or be near him or touch his hoodie.

I dare to touch the ends of his dark hair; they’re as soft and silky as his hoodie.

Romance

There is ZERO romance in this novella. Callie is in love with Roman by the end of it, but I don’t understand why. The hero has no personality besides being an asshole. Callie was just super desperate and naïve. She always have Roman that benefit of the doubt besides literally everyone telling her Roman will just use her because that’s the type of person he is. And guess what, THEY WERE RIGHT.

Also, Roman is telling her that he was just using her at the end of the book and she actually begins telling him that she’s in love with him?! Gah I just wanted to scream because why, WHY would you ever do that. Tell him to go fuck himself and give him one of these

Fairy pussy

“…If I catch even a whiff of her scent, I’ll go wild. I’ll become an animal and I’ll snap my teeth and I’ll snarl. And nothing would calm me down except her, except the sight of her, the taste of her. You know I’ll become a villain for your fairy pussy.”

Yes, this is the hero personifying Callie’s vagina and calling it ‘fairy pussy’. Need I say more on why this shit is hilarious

“But the truth is that no one can save me. I’m already dying. I’ve already fallen in love with a villain.”

So, prequels—and pretty much everything that is way too short—don't usually do that for me, so I'll not pretend that I loved it, but it certainly was a good introduction to Calliope Thorne and Reed Jackson's story.
She's a princess (and a ballerina). He's a villain (and a soccer player, besides her brother's rival). What else is left to be said? They were kinda cute throughout the chapters, their relationship seemed to be great, but he didn't just break Callie's heart at the end—he really destroyed her being. The last two chapters made it worth it and had enough—or more than necessary—angsty to cheer me up to read A Gorgeous Villain. So there I go.
And I already love Tempest. I'm so excited to see more of her and how she'll get Ledger on his knees for her.

THEY DON’T CALL THEM VILLAINS FOR NOTHIN’ – SMOKIN’ HOT **4.5 stars**

“He’s the heartbreaker. A player … he doesn’t even have a heart.”

SAK'S OUTDONE HERSELF WITH A LIFE-IMITATES-ART SHAKESPEARAN TRAGEDY of teen romance and family rivalry.
I could just burst. Romeo and Juliet got nothin’ on the good girl ballerina and the villain. This is one provocative and bewitching romance every step of the way before it yanked the rug out from under with that cliffy. That’s what happens when a mesmerizing story completely beguiles the reader. The setup novella is just the introduction to upcoming A GORGEOUS VILLAIN in a delicious, bite-sized tale of love and woe that got me good. So much is packed into the story and I'm not giving any of it away.

There’s team rivalry between Callie’s brother and Reed, and her overprotective brothers warn her about him, but she can’t resist. A rivalry that will cost everything, and betrayal is never far behind. A promise is a promise, even if it is between an innocent ballerina and a soccer player/playah. He calls her his Fairy and she calls him Roman. What would you sacrifice for and against love? Turns out the collateral damage is more than the MCs can afford. Come on, haven’t we all been Callie once or twice? I know I have, and I felt this girl deep in my marrow. I wept for her. Us girls never learn or remember the warnings about the villains we fall for, their silver tongues or the promises they make as we fall into the love abyss, but we never forget the heartbreak. Reed gives you the clues to his truth if you’re listening. Their love story shapes up to be one of SAK’s BEST romances.

There’s nothing better than the wide-eyed, guileless innocence and heartwrenching vulnerability of SAK’s delectable teen heroines and Callie is all that and much more … but she’s upped her game to whole new level with the likes of Reed Roman Jackson, the high school soccer god nicknamed Wild Mustang for obsessive love of his car. Her heroes are usually love-to-hate, hate-to-love dirtbags who redeem themselves by the end of every novel, but Reed is a whole fresh bag of tricks. This brief setup novella of how they meet is filled with spontaneous seduction, steam, erotic heat and sexual tension that has all the earmarks of first love and HEAs … but is it? And when the angst kicks in, it’s pedal to the metal. Their relationship was a rocket ship of panting temptation and a volcanic eruption that ends with a bang AND a whimper.

The story was sweet perfection, except for a personal turnoff – the delicious dirty talk always goes a tad too far into “nah” territory. Just wish SAK would turn down the amplification a notch. More is not necessarily better. And there's a timeframe error. Even so, the romance built to a crescendo finale that was a sharp knife to the heart in a thousand ways. Damn you SAK, I need A Gorgeous Villain stat.

Damn, Saffron Kent really said copy and paste when she gave Callie a very similar personality to Salem (and probably a lot of her other heroines too). I remember Callie having a very different personality in Salem and Arrow's book. Even though I like it, I do think she needs to find a new thing besides the girl desperately pining away for the hero.

I think I would have liked this book more had I been younger. Callie and Reed don't kiss till the end of the book and all action is off the page. They don't even have sex here. A lot of other reviewers were annoyed by the Other women scenes, but I've read romance books where the hero literally has a mistress...All the other women scenes happened off-page and their names weren't given, so it didn't bug me.

This book is very Saffron Kent style. It reads sort of like a teenage diary tbh. Sometimes the time distinctions weren't laid out well, which confused me. It was kind of romantic, but I really didn't see that end coming...and I don't know how they can go from there. I'm a little surprised at Reed. And embarrassed for Callie because you have to be really desperate to do what she did at the end. (It ends in a sort of cliffhanger.)

Thanks to the author for a free novella! I'm wondering why she decided to write their story in two parts--maybe the book was too long so she split it into a novella? Anyway, I was really looking forward to Book 2 before this novella...

*** I received an eArc from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.***

This was a gorgeously written prequel novella that sets that stage for what is to come between Callie and Reed in the full-length story.

I loved this story between both MC's, it was intense and fascinating to watch them interact within this forbidden atmosphere. This was an addicting read that makes me excited to read more from these characters.

This book is a love story between Reed and his Mustang and Calliope aka fairy pussy is the villain who killed the Mustang. Why would u ever kill the non living heroine of the book?

Ok seriously tho, i loved Salem and Arrow cuz even though Salem was desperate for Arrow she had that maturity and she was strong, not annoying but Calliope is straight up annoying. She is so fucking naive i want to slap her, and so fucking desperate. Salem was desperate for Arrow but Calliope is like 100 times more desperate than Salem its pathetic. I didnt even care about Reed, he was busy romancing with his mustang. I hope The Gorgeous Villain is better and Calliope is more mature cuz in this one she is annoying af.

Review – The Wild Mustang & The Dancing Fairy (St. Mary’s Rebels #1.5) by Saffron A. Kent
.
“𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜?” 𝙄 𝙖𝙨𝙠. 𝙄𝙣 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙚, 𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙪𝙣𝙨 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙚𝙮𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙢𝙮 𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙮, 𝙨𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙮, 𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮, 𝙖𝙨 𝙞𝙛 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙮 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚. “𝙇𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪.”

There aren’t enough words that could possibly describe how I feel about this couple and this book. I have said this time and time again, but NO ONE does it like SAK. Her words are raw and real. They are achingly beautiful and poetic that you feel so many emotions throughout each page. This prequel was EVERYTHING I wanted. If you are dying for a glimpse of Reed & Callie prior to the release of AGV (Coming June 3rd!) then I recommend reading this novella first because there is so much to their story that you don’t want to miss!
.
This story is the beginning to how it all started. Callie is our soft, innocent, and naïve fairy ballerina. I love her with my whole heart. SAK writes the BEST heroines and NO ONE can tell me different. Callie has had a longing for Reed for a long time, but she knows what she feels for him is wrong, her four older and VERY protective brothers would never let her anywhere near him. He is the one man that is absolutely forbidden to her, but when Callie starts being around him more and seeing how he is behind the mask at school Callie falls deeper into her obsession with Reed. We see how she would do anything for Reed and how much she loves him and how ultimately, he becomes her ruination.
.
Reed is everything. SAK also has the BEST men hands down. Reed is cocky, arrogant, destructive, and his dirty talking mouth will be the death of me and I don’t want to come back to life. Loving Reed is a downfall that Callie is about to find out the hard way. Once Reed finally takes notice of Callie all bets are off. Reed was so much more than I expected yes, he is an asshole, but god when he is sweet and tender... my heart was bursting. There is so much more to uncover about Reed, and I can’t wait to find out more.

Evil Romeo to Her Juliet

Saffron A Kent St Mary's Rebels bk 01.5 The Wild Mustang and the Dancing Fairy

Reed Roman Jackson and Calliope Juliet Thorne... I don't know where to start with these two. They are perfectly mismatched. There's angst, first love, and betrayal. What's not to like? 😉

But as I found out tonight, I’m stupid.

And in love. With a villain.

With a guy who likes to break hearts.

-- Callie Thorne

Despite how this ends with a bit of a cliffhanger, I really like this lead in to A Gorgeous Villain. I can't wait to see where this goes. I mean, the revelation in the first book already had me ready for it, but this solidified it.

I read along as I listened to the audio book. The narrator is Stefanie Kay. She's great as Callie.

4/5 ⭐️ This was such a good start to Callie and Reed’s story and I loved it! That ending OMG! I cant wait to jump into their book. They stole my heart. Callie was just such a lovely and sweet person. Reed was a jerk but I loved him anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️🤭.

I really loved it when he reluctantly helped her at one of her ballet practices 🥹. He didn’t want to but he did it for her🫶🏻❤️. It was just too cute. I also loved his dirty mouth 🥵. He was also very jealous and possessive 😌.

Me while reading this novella:
description
Seriously, I wish I was kidding.

My biggest complaint is Callie.
I had the impression, from reading her presence in the previous book, that she would be this badass girl who could put every guy at his place, especially the bad one who rivals her brother. I mean she freaking drove his car into the lake because he broke her heart! That screamed badass to me, right?
But OH MY GODDDD in here she is portrayed like the princess of doormat ffs! She’s too cringe, the way she behaves towards him, I felt so embarrassed for her why she hasn’t some girl friend who could teach her how to not follow every step he made like some puppy in love??? (Reed is right when he says that her brother are useless). When I read them talk it was like see an eight years old try to have a conversation with an adult, I felt like I needed to intervene and save her from embarrassing herself.
This feeling had everything to do with Kent writing style which unfortunately isn’t one I liked at all. I don’t know how I’ll be able to read a full novel of this:

"And needless to say, girls around town are obsessed with his hoodies.
They stare at them. They talk about them. They want to touch his hoodies and play with the strings. They want to wear his hoodies too.”

A thousand thoughts, a thousand sensations, explode in my mind, but the very first that jumps out is that it’s soft.
His hoodie.
It’s the softest, coziest, plushest thing I’ve ever touched. Even more than the seaters that I knit for my brothers.
The thought that immediately follows is that no wonder he loves it, his hoodie
.

description

I’m missing some kind of innuendo for his balls or something, right??

But jokes aside this aren’t the monologue I want to immerse myself in. Too much repetition, adjectives…idk it just that her writing style is not neat, smooth but repetitive (as I am rn trying to describe it) and often ridiculous; it sounds like she wanted to made it poetic but failing it (or at least to me, obviously there are people out there who will love it and that’s good because everyone have their preference).
I’m not a fan of all the: “yeah” at the end of Callie’s thoughts, all her questions that brakes the fourth wall. Not my things.
Also the nicknames are, can I say, stupid? The Wild Mustang??? I mean I get it’s not only the car but as not an english native speaker the first thing that comes to my mind is the car and, okay, can you imagine calling someone, idk, the wild Citroen? Fiat? Volkswagen???? I can’t.
Never mind their nicknames for her v-vagina (Didn’t I mention that she can’t say f-word and cock etc. without stuttering, right?) fairy pussy & tight little fairy hole.
description

But what pissed me off was that the epic scene I was waiting for - her driving the car into the lake - the scene I hoped will actually give me the badass heroine I wanted (you see I thought that, being this the prequel, we read about the young and naive Callie before the heart break who then changed because of this bad guy who turned her as much bad as him, a revenge queen) everything was tainted by the fact that Reed’s sister had to keep her from running to save his car because, and I quote,
"He loves it and I…can’t hurt him like this. I can’t hurt him…[…].
I have to save it. I have to save the thing he loves.”

Pleaseeeeeee, no girl you don’t, you have to smash it after how much he hurt you FFS.

Basically, a disappointment.

okay, so I’ve read seven other books by SAK and Reed is most definitely the biggest asshole and manwhore out of all of them. I’m actually pretty surprised by how much of dick he was. and while that makes him intriguing, it could easily be the downfall of A Gorgeous Villain.

some things I disliked about this novella:
↳ that cliché scene where the h sees the H up close for the first time while he's getting a ✨blowjob✨
↳ unnecessary repetition (we get it, he’s a villain)
↳ so many cringey moments, like Callie saying sHe’s nOt LikE oThEr GiRls

still, there was lots of angst, unfinished business, and Reed shows jealous/possessive tendencies that I love in heroes—so we will be tuning in! Callie was sixteen years old in this, so I cut her some slack. but hopefully she shows growth in the actual novel and Reed is celibate during the two-year separation 🙏

on another note, I am already half in love with Callie’s oldest brother, Conrad Thorne. he comes off as the stoic and loyal type, and I’m praying he ends up with a particular artist with ethereal, silver eyes (cough my princess, Wyn Littleton cough).

"Reed Roman Jackson is exactly what they told me he’d be. A villain."

This is a prequel novella for Callie and Reed's upcoming book, A Gorgeous Villian. If you've read my darling arrow you probably already know what goes down in this story.

Calliope Thorn is a good girl who does whats she's told by her four protective big brothers. Her brother, Ledger is the captain of the soccer team and rivals with Reed Roman Jackson. She's not supposed to want Reed..

This is a quick Reed that will give you insight into how they get together and then completely fall apart... I really enjoyed it and thought Callie was an awesome Character. While Reed is not a good guy, and I'm very mad at him right now, we get to see these little sides to him and i just KNOW that he is going to become my favourite Saffron hero.

Really looking forward to AGV!!!!
