Bragg Creek has fabulous ice cream--everybody knows that. But unknown to humankind, it also holds a stunning secret: a magical wicket to a fanciful realm teeming with snapping crocos horn-rimmed desert dragons, and the corrupted Enchanter. When typical teenagers and scrappy siblings Brock and Brianna accidentally discover the wicket, they embark on an unexpected adventure. Once tumbled into this mysterious realm, will Brock and Brianna be able to find their way home?

This is a wonderful coming-of-age story about losing and finding your way. It's full of magical kingdoms and the reality of teenage life. I really enjoyed the simplicity of the story and the depth of the characters. I have a ten-year-old and a 13-year-old who can't wait to read this! It's safe for the whole family.
This is a fabulous book! I laughed, I teared up, and I read the whole thing in 2 hours because I couldn’t put it down! I saw so much of my teenage self and struggles in Brianna and absolutely loved seeing her growth as the story unfolded. I will definitely not only be reading again (many times, I’m sure!), but will also be recommending it to my family and friends.
The Wicket of Silvus is an excellent fantasy/adventure novel for teens & pre-teens (although I enjoyed it too!). There's enough humour and action to keep my sons engaged as they read it, while hopefully learning something about empathy and compassion from the solid character development. The author strikes a good balance; she's able to lead the characters through life lessons without being preachy, all the while keeping up the pace with plenty of adventure.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The author has an adventurous imagination and a creative way with words that engages your mind and draws you in. The journey through the Wicket of Silvus is an allegory of the raw emotions of teenagers trying to find their place in the world. It not only reaches into the hearts of the young readers but can be a source of inspiration and understanding for adults. This book is packed with adventure, humour, emotions and love. A good read for all ages!
