Aztecas MC #1

Aces & Eights

Rate this book
In the country where the grasses grow tall and the wheat blows in the east Colorado winds, a farm boy named Kale Acer meets a man that would change his life.

Having a beer after a rough day on the farm, Kale hears the sputtering of a motorcycle on the highway outside, only to look out of the dusty window to see Eight Cardenas, pulling in on his Harley, dark skin and hair lit by the evening sun.

The biker takes a liking to Kale, as he lends him tools to fix the bike, but that isn’t necessarily a good thing for the inexperienced young man. Eight pushes him to the wall on the side of the bar and makes Kale feel things he’d only fantasized about. Dark fantasies he’d never admit to, to anyone.

They start to meet up for sex only, but that doesn’t last, as feelings begin to emerge between the two men, who are as different as anyone could be. Eight’s life is in New Mexico, with his club and his crime, but he longs for quiet twilight with the sweet man who’d broken through his heart of steel.

When the president of Eight’s club wants to bring in new men to replace those who don’t like his way of doing things, Eight has to leave, and Kale is alone, hurting for the days that the rough biker had made him feel so alive.

Can they find their way back to each other, or will Eight’s past kill him before he can hold his farm boy again?

I love writing, it's been my dream for many years, and in October of 2013, when my first book went live on Amazon, that dream came true.

Writing love stories that are centered on flawed but lovable characters is my passion. Finding love between people isn't easy, nor should it be. Even in a book, there have to be obstacles for the story to feel real.

I am a mother of three amazing people, and three adorable fur babies. I live in Colorado but love many other places besides my home. One state in particular is New Mexico, the state where I was born has always held a place in my heart.

People and places make my stories what they are. Each character I've written is a part of me in some way. Each place I write is as well. Adventures come in many ways, and each of my stories has taken me on an adventure that I treasure.

Come with me on my adventures and fall in love with my characters, as I have. I promise, you will love the ride.

I was going to give this 3 stars because I thought it was just an ok read, but then it ended with a cliffhanger. I’m finished with these two. Maybe I’ll come back to the other book later.

WOW!!!! Another great novel by Rain Carrington. The story line was strong and amazing, seducing you from the very beginning. The characters were well developed and intense. Kale was a farmer boy, 22 yrs old, who was still a virgin and hasn't come out to his family yet. He's looked at as a boy in a man's body, shy and naive. One evening he goes to the local bar to unwind and meets a rough and dangerous biker, Eights (Guillermo), having trouble with his bike. After the bar has closed, the two are still outside working on Eights bike and they decide to go relieve themselves at the side of the building. When Kale finishes up, Eights throws him up against the wall and proceeds to seduce him, rough and hard. Kale is turned on by this and wanting it and Eights plays the dominant one who is control. This blows Kale's mind and he decides to run away after. All Eights could say was 'see you soon'. He knew Kale wanted it as bad as he did. After several weeks Eights comes around and tells Kale to meet him at the motel. Eights wants him badly, wanting Kale to be his, and Kale decides to go with it. Eights is a dangerous biker gangster who has killed men and is in a gang who would kill him if they found out he was gay or if he chose to get out of the gang. What Eights didn't want was to fall in love with Kale....But he did. The story is full of Hot Sex and action within the gang which is threatening to Eights, Kale, and their families. But before anyone that he cares about gets hurt, he decides to up and leave in the night, tearing both of their hearts out....Two years later Kale finds out where Eights lives and decides to face him. A very emotional and trying time sorting out what happened and their feelings to one another.....The story goes on as they face the gang. The story has a cliff hanger, so be prepared. This was a great read. Can't wait till the next one comes out. Highly recommend this one.

Eight gets what Eight wants. No matter what. No matter who.
Kale a farmer’s son who isn’t out to his family. Has never kissed a man, never had sex with a man. Then he meets Eight in a bar.
Kale his family has a nice farm. His family works hard. They have had worked hard for generations for what they have. They are proud of what they have! However, they do have a lot. They have Sunday dinners with the Irish tablecloth with plenty of food. Kale however, has a lot of growing up to do.
Eight? He has nothing. He has never had anything. Who is Eight? We know he is in a gang, tough and a killer. It is fascinating learning about him . You get little bits and pieces that you put together and start to know him. He is a very complicated man. He wants to be free. Can you actually leave a gang like that? Would his family be hurt, or worse?
Is it possible that love can win against all odd? Those are pretty big odds!
This book is a rollercoaster ride! So fun! So hot! Watching Ace and Eight navigate their relationship is awesome!!! There are times when it’s so hot you have to put it down! There are also times when it is so tense that you need to put it down and breath! So much emotion in this book. She truly makes you love these two men!
I can’t wait for the next book! I’m not sure how the heck we are supposed that wait!

Kale is an innocent farm boy and Eight is a jaded older biker. Between them they form a relationship that seems to work well for them despite coming from two different worlds. I love how Eight changed from someone I didn't like much at times to a man in love & trying to protect what's his and Kale growing into the man Eight gives him the strength to be. A great paced story that keeps you invested the whole way through. I look forward to following their story in book 2.

Great start to a new series. Already fell in love with Eight and Kale. Rain always creates great secondary characters to provide support to the beautiful main ones. This one is no exception. Love both Eight and Kales's families. The addition of some bikers from The Biker, specially Mal and Kirk was a nice surprise. Can't wait to continue with the next installment.

SPOILERS

Eight was an abusive prick. I thought he would get better but nope he was always too rough, without establishing any boundaries, any safeword, treating Kale badly physically and emotionally.

He doesn’t trust his bf AT ALL (to the point of forcing him to wear a full chastity belt when they’re apart to make sure he doesn’t get fucked by other guys 🙄)

After they finally confessed their feelings to each other they spend 2years and a half appart, Kale even gets a new bf and we see them fuck 🤮

They have a scene where they physically attack each other. Then Eight attaches Kale to the bed with his belt and fuck him like that FOR HOURS without untying him (having him pee in a bottle…) What a lovely boyfriend…

Their last sex scene has Kale being fucked with his head in the toilet 🚽

Oh…and it ends with a cliffhanger!!!! 🤬

I’ll have to remember to stay away from this author from now on

I’m not American but do people really talk like that (by calling their parents “ma’am” or “sir”??)

God I’m glad I got this one for free

Complex novel with an involved plot. The MCs of Guillermo (Eight) and Kale Acer are an unlikely couple with action set in Colorado and New Mexico primarily. Older biker Eight dominates Kale, a 22 year old farmer, with repeated rough controlling sex. Meanwhile Eight's motorcycle club sees shifts, introducing more characters beyond the Acer family.
Carrington keeps the tension high throughout the tale, pouring detail into their interactions as well as the dynamics of a family farm and, mostly separately, the bikers. The farmlands are portrayed with beauty, while Albuquerque fails to present well.
My rating is 4.5 stars, rounded up because the Dom/sub overtone seemed overdone to me. Acceptances of a character being gay seemed glib and too quick. Characters are shown as black or white, with few having color or shades of gray. The book ends with a HFN, in something of a cliffhanger, leading towards the 3 books following this in the series.

***3.5 Stars for Aces and Eights***

Let me start by saying that my rating is because of my personal feelings toward what ended up being a main sexual theme in the book, not because of the book itself. Please judge on your own!

Kale is a farmer’s son, twenty two years old and feeling like he’s being suppressed by his untrusting father. He’s a never-been-kissed virgin, and while he knows he likes men, his family doesn’t. While trying to relax one evening at the local bar, his walking wet dream comes in. Eight’s motorcycle is giving him problems, and Kale offers up the tools in his truck for the handsome biker to use.

What follows is a series of encounters between the two men in which Eight is clearly dominant. Kale gets off on sexual humiliation, and Eight is happy to indulge the younger man. When Eight tries to detach himself from the daily operations of his biker group, however, the club’s president turns on him, then offers him a way out that involves Eight dealing death. Can Eight find a way to extract himself from the situation, or will Kale get caught in the crossfire?

Rain Carrington has a wonderful way of putting words together, and it is demonstrated once again in this book! The main storyline is the connection of the two men, and their clear attraction to each other. Kale is clean, pure, and innocent, something Eight hasn’t been blessed with much of in his life. It becomes clear fairly early on that Kale is going to be an addiction the biker can’t quit, but Eight wants things on his terms. The subplots are fascinating and weave throughout the mens’ exploration of themselves seamlessly.

The chemistry between the two is insanely strong, but it was here that I ran into my issue. While I am a fan of orgasm denial/delay/control, I am not a fan of sexual humiliation, and Aces and Eights contains a great deal of it. It is written beautifully – it’s just *not* my kink. Because of this, I found myself having problems reading the book. If you are okay with it, then there’s no doubt you’ll love every aspect of this book!

The side characters are written strongly, and Kale’s grandfather is probably my favorite of them all, with Eight’s grandmother coming in a close second. They really enriched the overall book, and then the twist absolutely stunned me. I didn’t see that coming – well, I did, but not the way it ended up being written. By the end, I was cheering that the two were in a position to start their HEA. I’m not sure if this is an HFN or their actual HEA, but it was a beautiful place to stop the story.

If you haven’t given Rain Carrington a try, you’re missing out on a brilliant author’s body of work!! I definitely recommend Aces and Eights.

Great Read.

Great start to a new series and a great set up for the next book. Eight doesn't seem to have too many redeeming features but you can't help but like him. The incident could have been fleshed out a bit more for my liking, it was over UN a flash but I'm nit picking. Overall it's a great read. I'm looking forward to the next book.

ONLY THE BEGINNING

Eight is a tough no nonsense biker. A member of the dangerous Aztecas nothing about them is easy. Kale is a home grown farmer's son. Crops and grain prices are his biggest worry. When Eight blows into his life, it's like being caught in a F5 tornado. Life is about to change like the direction of the winds. Tough, rough and unforgettable. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!

Great kick off to a new series. Eight, loner dangerous biker didn't know what he was missing until he met Kale. Everything changed, Eight wanted a life now, love someone open and free. These 2 were perfect together. Sexy, dangerous, selfless, family, betrayal, love. This had it all and I can not wait for more..? Fantastic

Likable characters, could have been hotter

It was a cute story. I really got into the main characters. But the author kept talking about how dirty they were, but there wasn't a whole lot of detail. I definitely want to read the rest of the books though and see what happens.

Twenty-two-year-old Kale still lives at home at his parents' farm, which he will one day take over. One day he gets frustrated with his father's treatment of him and goes to a nearby bar to unwind, where he meets Eight, a member of a fearsome biker gang one state over. Kale helps Eight repair his broken down motorcycle, and the two enter into an extremely erotic, long-distance, D/s relationship. As the story unfolds, their connection is threatened by the dangerous biker politics Eight is wrapped in.

I ADORED this book. The author managed to include a pretty big cast of characters without me getting confused about who was who, and the setting was so well-done. From the minute I started reading, it was like I was right there in rural Colorado with Kale. The story focused mainly on Kale and Eight, who had a dynamic that I absolutely loved. It was hot, romantic, and cute. The characterization was some of the best I've seen in M/M in a long time. I could actually hear Eight's voice so clearly in my head. At times I was cracking up, and at other times I was straight-up bawling. It took me on an emotional ride like a romance is supposed to.

I'm giving it four stars instead of five because it could have definitely done with more editing, whether self-editing or professional editing. I found myself wanting to correct mistakes as I was reading. But it didn't detract too much from my love of the story. I will definitely be reading more by Rain Carrington.

Full disclosure, while this has a HFN ending, it also has a cliffhanger right after that. This book is the first in a series that will follow the main couple.

I received an ARC of this from the author in exchange for an honest review.
