I just finished reading the second book of the Celya Chronicles The concept was unique, especially with the interactive story element, but it wasn’t really my thing. I enjoy interactive games and visual novels, but having that format in a physical book felt a bit confusing. Flipping back and forth through the pages based on your choices disrupted the flow of the story for me. I think this concept would work much better as a game. In fact, I’d love to see this adapted into a game—it would make the experience more enjoyable and engaging.
I also had a couple of issues with the book. First, the paper quality was different from the first book. It didn't feel as nice, and it just didn't have the same good feeling in my hands. Second, the artwork was disappointing. I fell in love with the beautiful art in the first book, but the second one was a downgrade with only simple sticker-like drawings in the chapters and a map. It just wasn’t on the same level.
That being said, the story was still good. In fact, it was a slight improvement over the first book, but the presentation fell short of expectations.
This is so cool! I first encountered Interactive types like these on Netflix like Bandersnatch and was fascinated that it is the concept for this Ceyla Chronicles book. I honestly enjoyed reading through and flipping page after page to make choices.
I suggest to read the first book Helios Murders before reading this so that it makes sense.
