THIS WAS SO GOOD like I can’t believe I almost didn’t even start reading the first chapter. The plot was tight, the characters were well written and developed, and we got a happy ending.
Rosen and Ian are perfect for each other. At first they seemed like they were from completely different worlds; one was a convicted murderer and the other was a war hero. But as the story progressed and their pasts were revealed, they shared a lot more similarities than expected. And as they understood each other more deeply, they started growing closer and their feelings for each other grew even stronger. I absolutely loved how at one point, Ian just surrendered to his true feelings and devoted himself to protecting Rosen, to hell with the repercussions and his reputation. Who doesn’t love a male lead who loves and supports his partner?
They found comfort in each other 10 years ago and in fact, they were sort of each other’s salvation, more so for Ian than Rosen. I really liked how their relationship progressed and that hurt/comfort scene when Ian took care of Rosen when she wasn’t feeling well did something to my heart 🥺 I love it when a strong female character gets taken care of, because it means she can finally be weak and feel safe doing so. And the thing about their relationship is that Ian doesn’t try to save her, he’s just there to make sure that no one gets in her way because that’s how much faith and trust he has in her. Their relationship is so healthy and I like how both characters developed over the course of the story, individually and also when they were together.
The romantic relationship between Rosen and Ian is peak but I also really liked the relationship between Rosen and Emily. They were each other’s light the darkness and they took care of each other when no one else would. I loved how strongly they loved each other as sisters and it broke my heart when they had to be separated after Rosen killed her bastard of a husband. Speaking of, when Rosen told the truth that she did in fact murder her husband, I felt a rush of emotion, a sense of vindication. It’s so rare to read a story where an abuser gets killed by the person they abused, and the killer gets away with it. It was honestly a huge win and I was gleeful that the author decided to go in that direction. That scene alone elevated the entire story to 5 stars to me.
This would’ve been better if there were some mature scenes involved because the art style is gorgeous and I loved looking at the main characters. Like yeah, it’s a me problem because I can’t help but want to see two attractive characters fuck each other 😂
