I really enjoyed Cajun Moon by Gigi Gunn. Plot: Sassy catches Roux, her fiance, cheating and breaks off the engagement. However, a mystery man has been in love with her for decades and he turns out to be everything she wants and needs.

With a great premise like that, it could have really fallen on its face but Ms. Gunn wrote a thoughtful, romantic story with three-dimensional characters who are easy to like. Even Roux has enough honest good in him not to be hateable. Most of all, I really liked Sassy. I'm old enough to have gotten my heart broken hard and Ms. Gunn wrote Sassy's mind and heart in a really realistic way as she grappled with this loss. Sassy is sassy, independent, practical, emotionally healthy, smart, and caring. The romance between Sassy and the mystery man, Aidan, progresses in a sexy but sensible fashion. If you've ever read Pride and Prejudice (and if you haven't: spoiler alert on P&P), you know that part where Darcy secretly saves Lizzie's family honor for the simple reason that he cares about her? That's when you know Darcy's Mr. Right. Aidan makes some mistakes, but when it hits the fan, he pulls through in a concrete way like a Real Man. I like a romance writer who bothers to bring that element into a story. I will look for other Gigi Gunn novels.

A sign of a really good book is when you fall in love on the very first page and the words flow of the pages like magic . I fell in love with Sassier and Aiden's story from the very first page . When he rescued her at the beginning of the book ,I wanted to know who he was . I could not put the book down as I read him wooing her by just being himself. He showed her real love. This book was full of black and white movies, vintage love songs and dancing ,like Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. This is second book I have read by this author, her books are the ones that stick with long after you have read the last page , her books are the first on the tip of your tongue when you are talking about one of you favorite books and her books are ones that has touched you the most.
