A hot stranger. A dominant mother. Will the young love survive the competition?

There are two simple facts in Kevin Carter’s life. One: he dates Lucas, the hottest guy at school. And two: telling Mom is not an option. But when a new boy comes into the picture, Kevin soon realizes that life isn’t that simple, and he needs to make a choice between two evils.

Stuck in the Closet is a sweet romance and the second novel in Jay Argent’s Oak River Boys series. It continues the story about the kind of love that isn’t always easy but is definitely worth fighting for.

This book was so good

***Spoilers*** splash here& there***

I felt so bad for Kevin that boy couldn’t catch a break. To me, Lucas has it made more than Kevin. Someone always giving him ****.. just because he’s gay. Like the boy been hiding his true self for a while and was scared of what might happen.

First, it started with Joshua. He is just horrible and has an obsession with Lucas. & the thing is Lucas doesn’t care for him at all. Especially after what he did to Kevin and his (Lucas) relationship. When he blackmailed Kevin... Joshua still lost that bet I was glad he did. To me, I think he still was helping Kevin's mom. Especially when he mentions social services and they were at Lucas's parents how after school!

Besides that, Kevin's parents, especially his mom, is just as horrible as Joshua. Even though Joshua is a bully... not understanding outing someone is so hurtful. Kevin's mom is very evil like she didn’t care about her son's feelings. All she did was push Hailey on him. Or ask him about a girlfriend. Not realizing her son was hurting inside from what he was keeping to himself. & what made things worse was Joshua outing him to his mom. & thinking it’s funny.

I was glad when Lucas didn’t give in to Joshua at his house. On top of that went and got his boyfriend from his (Kevin) father.

Then the bad thing after reading the end, I see that Lucas's brother about to give Kevin **** next. Like Jorge needs to get him a life he one bitter man that thinks it’s okay to bully someone who gay. I hope Lucas's parent and Lucas have Kevin back while living in the house while Jorge around.

I also can't wait for the next book to this series to come out. Because I am now curious about what evil homophobic Jorge has to say., I am hoping Kevin get his happy ending soon. Because that boy can’t catch a break...

Novella with a big punch

17 year old Kevin is stuck in the closet. Living with his mum, he has to cope with her homophobia and her insistence that he just needs the right girl. But Kevin has a boyfriend, the out and confident jock Lucas. When another gay jock Joshua realises that there is another gay jock at the school, he is determined to seduce Lucas, boyfriend or not. Joshua wreaks havoc with the relationship between Lucas and Kevin. Will Lucas be seduced by Joshua or will he realise what a wretch he is? And will Kevin have the strength to stand up to his mom? This is an intense story about a relationship under tremendous strain. It made me want to keep reading to discover what happens. Jay Argent has a deep understanding of the deep feelings and uncertainties of teenage boys.

Honestly the way Joshua is portrayed in this *chefs kiss* and we really get to know the charcaters in this book more so than the first with then seeming to have more life like personalities.

This book also fell into the trap of repeating stuff a lot, mostly just to show internal struggle for this one though so that can be excused but drawn out is not what I would describe this as, a lot of things happened considering the length of this book and the majority of the plot was satisfyingly resolved, also not seen a lot in books this length.

I really do like some of the side characters in these books as well because even if they are horrible people, they are well written horrible people.

I absolutely loved this book as much as the first in the series. I can’t wait for more from Jay Argent. It really hits home as his books are very relatable and tell very real stories. We definitely need more authors like him.

Stressful but Wonderful too

This was a good coming of age story. I enjoyed the drama because it was a bit unique and really intense. I got frustrated a lot but it was definitely worth it!

Better then the first book. More action and a better storyline kept me hooked. Kevin’s mum is terrible and she made me quite angry at points. But that’s what’s good about this book it makes you think what it’s like for young adults coming out.

Jay Argent writes with heart

Jay Argent captures the drama- the highs- the lows that you g gay people deal with as they learn to accept themselves. The lucky ones find friendship and love to help them on their way.
We will all be hearing more from Jay Argent!

Great sequal

The book is awesome, the character joshua portrays the predatory nature of some of the bad people out there and is a hard look at how this could damage a relationship, but a great story and the author is good at painting the picture.

I received an ARC. This is a great look at life for those young gay men with bigoted parents. We still have a long way to go. Jay Argent shows great empathy for the American teen.

the drama continues

More obstacles for the boys keep them from happiness. Still don’t get what the deal is with Joshua. 3.0 for showers.

loved it

I’m always uncomfortable with personality types like Joshua. Too much of a reminder of my life. The ending was happy.
