Casimir and Rox have a lot to work out after the car accident that almost killed him. Who was behind that, and who was watching them from the hill behind his house?
Get all the answers in the exciting conclusion of the Casimir Duet: Hard Work!
Blair Babylon is the nom de plume of an award-winning, USA Today-bestselling author who used to publish literary fiction. Because professional reviews of her other fiction usually included the caveat that there was too much deviant sex and too much interesting plot, she decided to abandon all literary pretensions, let her freak flag fly, and write hot, sexy, erotic romance.
I absolutely loved this book! Cash and Rox were made for each and or only took them working together for 3 years and a terrible incident to bring them together. I love the intensity their story had and I loved the ending! ❤️❤️❤️
I can honestly say that this is one of my favorite Blair Babylon series EVER! Working Stiff: Casimir, is the first in the new Runaway Billionaires series. It tells the story of Cash, a sexy, good looking attorney who will sleep with any female who walks through the door; and, Rox, the only paralegal that can stand working with Cash, and not surprisingly, the only one who hasn't slept with him. But what happens when they are thrown together, their lives depend on each other, and everything they knew about each other turns out to have been wrong; the sparks fly! Casimir will make you laugh. cry. cringe with fear, and hope for the Cinderella ending. You will also be introduced to new friends in Casimir, while visiting old ones at The Devilhouse. And, don't be surprised when Xan Valentine's name pops ups a few times. Really loved this series, and can't wait to see how good ole Arthur is brought to heal next.
Love the audio. Couldn’t put it down. This story has it al. Humour between Rox and Casmir. Mystery, suspense. Who is after them . Will they find out who it is and why A perfect story
Hard Work is such a wonderfully intriguing and beautifully touching story of two people who long to be loved and seen for who they truly are. The tremendous emotion that flows through these pages is delightfully offset by the warm humor that finds its way into the most intense situations at times. While I have loved each of Blair Babylon’s books, this one had a very different yet vibrant feel to it. It was rich, decadent, and yet still very much down to earth and true to the author’s heart. I honestly couldn’t get enough of the amazing characters found throughout this journey. They all played a necessary role that transformed this story into so much more and literally made it come alive.
Rox has her life mostly planned out. She has worked hard and attained her dream job. She enjoys her co-workers and even enjoys working with her boss Cash. No matter how much she longs for more with her boss Cash, she knows she is much better off with the strong and beautiful friendship they share. Cash has secretly longed for so much more then friendship from the breathtaking Rox. She has turned his world upside down and yet he isn’t able to show her what she means to him because she has placed solid boundaries between them. He chooses to cherish her friendship if that is all he is allowed to have. When unforeseen danger comes looking for them, they must decide if hiding their heart from the other is really the best thing for both of them. Can they walk away from something that could be better than their wildest dreams for fear of having their heart torn apart, or will the danger that hunts them take that opportunity out of their hands?
Rox and Cash were completely amazing! They are unlike any other characters that I had read from this author, and I completely enjoyed getting to know them. Watching the stumble around each other while their heart slowly withered in their iron grasp nearly tore my own heart apart. Lies and lies by omission never did anyone any good. I think if we are to even attempt to be happy, we need to lay our hearts on the line and take a chance since it could be the best decision that you ever made. If not, then you live and learn, but to not even take that chance is almost criminal to both parties.
Blair Babylon never fails to surprise and entertain. The infusion of her heart into each of her books is what transforms them into a living and breathing masterpiece. They will hold you captive while they make you evaluate the more important things in your life. Above all else, they will make you fee. You can’t walk away and not be effected by some part of her incredible story. It will haunt your waking thoughts and seep into your heart until you surrender to it. This is one author that has stolen my heart, and I never want it back.
Rox and Cas are still at it in this next book of theirs !!! The chemistry between these two is as undeniable as the mystery surrounding them from work and their associates. As Rox and Cas become more acquainted , Rox's and her cats and friends help them along the way to their HEA !! And what a wild ride!!!!
I accidentally purchased this book but did not reverse the purchase immediately thinking it was a sequel to working stiff. It actually contained just portions of the original book and nothing new. Very disappointing and i wish that i had reported the accidental purchase immediately. Don't make the same mistake I did!
Second in the Casmir and Rox saga and the mystery, drama and romance continue to draw the reader into this unputdownable book. Definitely read Working Stiff before picking up this second book. Add both to your TBR list, a great vacation or anytime read.
***It is a book review, it may contain spoilers.*** At the beginning of the book, I was not so sure about it. I recalled Casimir being mentioned once in a previous book but it was fleeting so I had no emotional attachment to him... yet.
Con:I am kind of confused to the timeline line of Cash. He is a lawyer and he mentioned that Killer Valentine are only just making an entrance on the scene and that Flicka is not yet married.
Pro: Everything else! Once I got to reading, he really grows on you. He has a great story and everything he does (or doesn't do) just made me want to learn more about him. Blair has a way of writing that makes her characters seem like they could be real people instead of insanely rich, gorgeous, fictional characters.
I suppose I should mention Rox also since she kind of plays an important part. She is smart when it comes to being friends with her boss instead (before?) hooking up with him. She learns everything about him that he would otherwise try to hide if in a relationship. Knowing his personality and quirks and realizing she still likes him is a big deal.
Rox pretended she was married and always hid from her boss emotionally since she knew he was a player and in the end he was only a player because the one person he wanted was married. Except not really.
After fiascos with legal documents getting screwed up, too much alcohol, and Hollywood style drama (no pun intended), everyone in the end gets what and who they want.
They say that each person is shaped into becoming what they are by their birth circumstances and their upbringing, and I agree to a certain extent. Reading this book proves, though, that a determining factor is the character you are born with, the goodness which shapes your soul. Casimir is raised by the same parents as Wulf, but they are each unequivocally different from each other. Despite the indelible cuts his childhood trauma left on his psyche and his deep trust issues, Cash did not become bitter and vengeful with the world and everybody in it, whereas Wulf is an hypocrite out to step on cadavers just to fulfill his ambitions, like so many others before him.
I think I would not have noticed this aspect of the book if it was not so obvious that the parents are nowhere to be seen, they just exist in the background and are mentioned in passing except for Rox's mother, who really is no more but has left such a strong legacy of fear of abandonment in her heart.
What I find so interesting in Blairs' books is that, beneath the well-written love story in each of her books and her talent for conveying the feelings of the characters, there is an underlying approach to a life-shaping topic, which makes me want to read every book she writes.
In book 2 Rox and Cash are put through the wringer; after he threatens to report both senior partner of his law firm to the ethics committee for working against their clients’ interests, both Rox and Cash get sacked and escorted off the premises. On the way home they are shot at by a sniper and then his house is put on fire … but they can escape, even with all the three cats - thank goodness! They regroup at Rox’s friend Brady, then go back to the law firm to inform all clients and Cash decides to stay to tell the staff the next morning in persont that they all will lose their jobs His two friends Arthur and Maxence come to their rescue, the latter sends his security detail to extract them at the law firm and to take them to the airport - they go to The Hague via London - to meet his family. And Casimir needs to finally come clean and tell Rox all about his background, but the best part comes last - as always, when Rox meets Casimir’s family … I’d say grab the book yourselves, it’s an awfully great intro to the gang from Le Rosey … not as juicy as the ‘Wulf’ books, but a totally entertaining weekend read!
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Hard Work is a compelling and passionately charged conclusion to Casimir and Rox's story. This book delivers exactly what fans of the duet were waiting for: a definitive resolution to the scorching chemistry between the high-powered attorney and his smart, resistant paralegal. The romance payoff is excellent. After the slow-burn buildup in Working Stiff, Cash and Rox's relationship finally ignites. Their dynamic is the heart of the story, and the emotional connection they establish while navigating extreme pressure feels earned and incredibly satisfying. For those who love a billionaire boss or friends-to-lovers trope, the fulfillment here is top-tier. The central corporate suspense plot—digging into the law firm's corruption—is intriguing, high-stakes, and keeps the narrative moving at a relentless pace. Blair Babylon is masterful at weaving complex professional intrigue with personal drama. However, the action elements sometimes bordered on excessive. While the thrilling nature of the plot is appreciated, the introduction of extreme, high-octane threats occasionally felt like it was pushing the boundaries of the story's initial scope. It’s a minor note, but there were moments where the sheer magnitude of the danger felt a little over the top compared to the grounded nature of the corporate conspiracy.
This is the second part of this fictional story about Cash and Rox, and the conclusion! It is hard to review without giving spoilers to the first book. This book needs to be read after you have read book 1 as it picks up with Cash and Rox having challenged other lawyers over their illegal activities, and then having their lives put at risk as a result. They need to get to safety, acknowledge their true feelings for each other, and come clean about their personal circumstances so they can move on, not necessarily in that order! Another enjoyable read, although it felt it ended a bit soon, leaving me wanting to know more about their continuing lives, and how things progress for their friends too, which I hope will be covered in more books of the same series. I received this book as an ARC.
Casimir carries emotional scars from a childhood trauma but seems to function quit well. Strong feisty independent southern belle Roxanne is his trusty right hand and the love of his life but she’s married, um yeah about that. She’s strong fiercely loyal and loving but afraid to take risks. The chemistry is tangible and their love for each other obvious. The story revolves around corruption in their law practice and malicious intent to do them harm and their overwhelming need to overcome their personal demons. Love is their trump card.
These two had me laughing out loud one minute and fanning myself the next. The banter? Hilarious. The tension? Off the charts. They try to play it cool, but the way they orbit each other in every high-stress situation makes it impossible to keep things strictly professional.
He’s haunted by a rough past—and it shows in the way he uses women to keep his walls up. She sees right through him, which is exactly why she keeps her distance. Until an unexpected accident cracks him wide open.
And once he lets her in? She stops holding back. The fire that’s been simmering finally explodes—and it’s wild. Passion, vulnerability, heat in every stolen glance and touch… this story burns. 🔥
Book number 2 in this series completes the Casimir and Rox story. A change in the relationship, a disturbing discovery in the legal contracts at work, escalating danger. You will definitely want to read book #1 Working Stiff, but that is a real treat.
This story is like flipping the nitrous switch in a race car - Vroom!. Fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat, and deliciously scintillating. A trio of rescue cats, the difference between falling and jumping, dynastic problems, and a touch of Fairy Dust. Fabulous read which I highly recommend.
***** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book *****
Awesome! I love Casimir, Andrew & Maxence. Fabulous names for magnificent men! and Rox! She is a spitfire who won't up up with any crap from anyone.
It is amazing the lengths people will go to protect themselves, especially if they've been hurt by someone before.
This story pretty much has it all....mystery, hunks and amazing women.
Blair has created a great bunch of characters and I enjoyed reading Working Stiff and Hard Work immensely. The door is wide open for the rest of the series - I am so looking forward to it.
Hard Work by Blair Babylon is the fantastic conclusion to the story of Cash and Rox. She’s worked as a paralegal with him for three years. He’s infamous for his philandering ways, so she devised a plan to prevent him approaching her…and it has worked!
While they continue to investigate the shenanigans happening at the Law Firm, things outside their lives spiral into madness and destruction, leaving them both in major danger! Meanwhile, he continues to harbor secrets….while she just continues to care….Freaking amazing read that will leave you breathless and your heart pounding!!!
Rox and Cash are finally together after 3 long years and are basking in their newfound happiness ... but there dark forces at work that could smash their happiness to smithereens in one blow. Rox and Cash are blissfully unaware of this. Will it be too late when they find out? Hard Work is a billionaire romance full of drama, angst, pining, intrigue, action, suspense, twists, banter, laughs and steam with all the feels that kept the pages turning!
The story itself was a wild ride and requires a full suspension of disbelief (which is why I read fiction to escape life). The h was not as annoying as she was in the first story where she kept pounding away on her weight and the fact that the H was a horrible person to those he dates.
Blair Babylon has such a way with words! She truly creates masterpieces with each character she writes about and can make you love them in spite of the terrible things they might have done in their pasts. She adds in deliciously yummy parts of hotness and I can only say that every time I read her books I enjoy them more & more!
Characters that are humane, honest and so likeable that you quickly care what happens to them. The plots are a little unrealistic but that elevates them from the everyday. Worth the read to escape a mundane world!
part 2: I liked the way their story wrapped up, tying up a lot of the loose ends exposed during the first half. Kind of dramatic the lengths the 'bad guys' were willing to go to.. not sure that was very believable, but hey, it made for a good story.
Both book 1&2 are great reads. Book 2 had more action and sex. Revealing more of the characters in each book! Had trouble putting it down when I had to go out and take care of other business!
So, I just finished this sequel and I'm glad I read it. Blair Babylon is quickly becoming a favorite author, and I will definitely be reading more of her work the next time I'm able to take a break from technical and training manuals!
I have never laughed so hard, this book is enjoyable with sweet romantic moments and couldn't stop laughing moments too. I hlad I bought this book. I will make sure I get allnofs. Blair B's books.
Gripping Conclusion to Duet Absolutely loved the conclusion to Casimir van Amsberg and Roxanne O’Neil’s story. Book One left so many questions unanswered and now those questions are answer in the conclusion of this Duet. Answering those questions Blair Babylon takes through many captivating twists and turns that include deception, danger and suspense plus emotion, steam and chemistry and even fun banter and humor. I definitely recommend this Duet.
