I am grateful to receive this book from the author by Ian Primeaux. Thank you Booktasters for making this happen!

Genre:
YA Fiction, Fantasy, Adventure, Series.

Plot:
Three months after the raid on Mt. Tenebris, Emi and her friends are back in the castle for further training before they start again to rescue Teddy. Before they leave, Queen Vita bestows title of Champion on each of them. However, they need one more Champion to keep up with the legend. With the fourth Champion part of their team, they soon realize that the mountain is guarded by three magical seals and only after breaking them, they can rescue Teddy.

Will Emi be able to rescue her Teddy? What else awaits her during this journey?

Review:
Continuing the journey from the previous book, it gets tougher in this book. This book is lot heavier than the first book. The author captures various events and clears up many questions as we proceed with reading.

Every character has a need to grow, and their growth is beautifully displayed. Be it harder training sessions, research, or the battles – every turn surprised me. There were times I had actually forgot that Emi is ten-year-old. But there were moments when she displayed her childlike enthusiasm. There were instances when I actually felt protective of Emi and felt proud seeing her growth. There’s tremendous growth in other characters too.

The events happen in quick succession and there is excitement when more things begin to unfold. There are light-hearted moments but overall, it is action packed and has many emotional moments. The whole book gives quite an RPG style game effects.

However, there were portions which required me to reread. Their battles, especially Emi’s required more concentration. Those bits could have been written better.

The ending was completely unexpected. If the first book left me with questions, this book answered many of those questions; but leaves me with desiring for more.
Can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

I loved reading this book too. I strongly recommend reading the first book Emi before grabbing this one!

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair review*

Wow okay where to begin, this novel definitely beats the 'the second book is always the worst' allegations! I feel like this one is the stronger book of the two, where I thought the first book fell a bit short in the world building and pacing of the character's adventure, this book aces that aspect almost perfectly. I appreciate that the author didn't fall into the trap of re-explaining the plot of the first book in the second, or that they didn't feel the need to re-introduce the world, it was all a natural progression of the characters from the first book.

I loved that the supporting characters from the first book were being more developed and had a lot more personality in this book, I feel that a lot of children who read this may actually see themselves more in the side characters than the main character and that's really cute. The world itself is ever expaning and as mentioned before, it actually feels like the characters are moving across the world in this book, which is a huge bonus! I just know that the children who read this book will absolutely love it and get lost in the world and its characters!

Huge 5/5 for me, and will definitely be recommending this onwards!

A sequel to Emi and a prequel to third - Emi : Foreign Lands doesn't let you down!

You know the writer has engulfed you with his imagination to such an extent, that no matter the odds, you can't put the book down unless you have completed it.
After reading the first part, I was waiting for the mysteries to be unraveled but somehow there are still bigger secrets to be revealed. Not to forget the part where the several truths being revealed out here will just be enough to put you into a state or a trance of disbelief momentarily. The chills and the surprised reactions were worthy of completing the book in one go.

The only thing I hold against the author is making us wait for the third part now! 6 years of our world - 2000 years of Roa makes 1 year of our world be 333.33 years of Roa but my mind knows it will not be less than the impact of a few thousand years till I wait for the third part to be out and move closer to knowing the mysteries the author has successfully upheld.

Kudos to the imagination & creativity!

If you want an adventure full of chaos, this is the right book, everything that you may think can happen, it happens! The development of the characters is great and the way the author describes the scenes is just amazing. The plot twists made me scream at each page, this book is phenomenal! Like the first one, this is another favorite from this year. I can't wait for part three!!!

We now know who or what Emerson, Queen Vita, Teddy, Jindi, and even Emi are. Action, adventure, and research into arcana ensue. A quick overview of the known kingdoms is covered on foot and thru portals by our champions. But a final (?) answer to all our questions must await the next book. Rats.

Emi is back in this new adventure. Continuing shortly after book one left off, Emi and her friends are training again, in a bid to reach Mt Tenebris and defeat the evil there once and for all.

This novel gives us a better view of the world Emi landed herself in. We get to view new lands and different communities. I greatly enjoyed learning about the Foreign Lands and meeting new people.

The characters have developed realistically from the last novel and all the new characters are well written and complex.

The conflicts throughout the novel are well written. I loved the legends and myths surrounding the plot in this novel.
