⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
7 out of 7 books (as of now in the series)
I read this in three hours because I couldn't stop dancing and singing to Bridgeton the musical. But let me tell you, this is the best of all the books in Breeding Season. I'm genuinely freaking pleased with this book out of the seven that the series has so far.
I enjoyed the insta-love; it wasn't overly done or cringe. Bella and Klaus’s story was intoxicating and not enough for me. From the moment they first met and till the end of the story, I was charmed, cheering for them and quietly praying nothing catastrophic happened in this one. There were more “Mafia politics” talked about in this book than any other I've read; I enjoyed that. Klaus has to be one of my top favorite morally grey characters. Yes, men who kill for a living and bring suffering to others for ‘turf,’ as they say, can be ethically grey in my book. Only because this is fictional, otherwise they would be a monster. And he is either way.
Besides that fact, Klaus charmed me all the way through. He was kind from the start to Bella. He was blunt to her, asking her and demanding straight answers for her. A man from his reputation hated being toyed around even if it was by a beautiful woman. That helped their relationship with trust and communication. I love a pair who communicates! He fell in love with her slowly, giving his all from the start and protecting her from the hurt the world wanted to throw at her. Klaus was a devoted husband from the start, someone she could trust.
Isabella is my favorite female main character from the Breeding Season. Bella loves cooking because it was the only activity that her family allowed her to participate in outside of her room. Her love for reading is another characteristic of her I loved. Without even trying, she’s funny. She's strong, thoughtful, loving even when the world wanted to break her. I'm happy Klaus took the time as a husband to show her how beautiful Bella is every day, in front of a mirror, while speaking with her and holding her at night.
Bella's understanding of who she was and that she was cared for was a big part of the book. The reason being that her family, especially her father, emotionally and physically abused her. She was always on a diet; her food was rationed, and never allowed to eat sweets. If she even dares to eat one, her father physically and emotionally harmed her. He was ruthlessly abusing his daughter with no remorse whatsoever. Her being fat was a big part of the plot. Klaus didn't tolerate her being beaten, starved, and humiliated. He wants revenge for what was committed to her all those years up until now. Now that she was in his protecting, on his bed and heart. It was an easy task to eliminate his number one target—Isabella’s father.
Their love was going to prevail throughout this ordeal. He was committed to her, painfully clear about his feelings and wants. Bella’s father was just another obstacle he intended to eliminate quickly so his bride could be safe.

JUST READ IT! IT'S MY FAVORITE OUT OF THE SEVEN.
It has explicit voyeurism sex scenes, crude words spoken towards women with intent to them, crude words spoken while in the heat of lust and sex. Gun description, blood description, torture description. Mafia politics, talk, and crime.
