There are no softball cases in the FBI . . . especially when an agent gets dirty. Karina Cardinal's Saturday starts out with a bang, and it's not the home renovation marathon she's watching on HGTV. It's the FBI banging on her door, hunting for a fugitive. As if she could easily hide one in her modest condo. Especially one named Mike Finnegan. The two of them called it splitsville a couple months ago, but Mike? Take a $1.2 million bribe? No and no and no. No matter how much damning evidence the feds claim to have. When a mysterious burner phone shows up in her pocket, Karina has no doubt who dropped it there. Mike is deep undercover and so far off-grid, he needs help to figure out who's framing him--and why. Classic Karina, she jumps in with both feet, ignoring the dangers. The trouble with leaping before you look? You can land in a world of dirt. And when an old enemy starts playing hardball, you can end up six feet under it.

Swindler’s Revenge is the fifth book in the Karina Cardinal Mystery series by Ellen Butler. Yes, I am going to say this again for the umpteenth time- this series just gets better and better with each new instalment- and I’ve found another book to add to my favourites in this fantastic series- that’s all five 😊!!! Ms. Butler really knows how to spin a riveting, tightly woven story that kept me flipping the pages to discover what I would find on the next page. She deftly weaves clever mystery, suspense, and thrills into her plots- it’s something she does incredibly well. I love that her stories always keep me wondering what will happen next- and has me expecting danger and dramatic developments with every turn of the page. Her books are a definite ‘one-click’-no-questions-asked…. she never disappoints!!! As with the other books in the series, this could be read as a standalone- without feeling like you are missing anything. But having said that, I really do recommend reading the previous instalments before devouring this one, as not only are the previous books really great stories- but there are also some recurring characters who appear in each instalment, as well a few references to past events and characters- so knowing what has happened previously will definitely enhance your reading experience of this book, and the series as a whole. Karina Cardinal (K.C) seems to be a bit of a magnet for trouble, and true to form, she soon finds herself embroiled in another investigation. This time, Michael Finnegan, her ex-boyfriend, becomes a wanted fugitive after taking off with $1.2 million dollars. This also puts KC under the FBI microscope as his (former) girlfriend. Could Michael really have pulled a swiftie? Karina doesn’t think so- but proving it may not be quite that simple, especially since there is no trace of Michael. But, with a little help from some very capable friends- they begin to unravel the events that led up to Michael’s disappearance with the loot….. as the investigation unfolds we are treated to plenty of tense situations, clever mystery, intrigue, suspense, agendas, danger, drama, chemistry, emotion, set ups, colourful characters, comradery, humour, banter, and much more! OH, and did I mention I FLOVE the direction KC’s love life has taken- that’s all I can say without giving away spoilers! But- SQUEEEEEE!!!!! Colour me happy. I have been wanting this for quite a while now- and it finally happened!!! WOOT!!! Now I can’t wait for more Karina Cardinal mysteries!!! Bring on Book #6 (Dear Lord, let there be more books coming)!!!
"Lucy, you've got some 'splaining to do!"—Ricky Ricardo
While spending a lazy morning binge watching HGTV, Karina Cardinal (KC to her friends) is startled out of her TV coma to the sounds of pounding fists at her door. Shocked to see it’s the men in black (aka the FBI) storming inside her apartment, brandishing a warrant and demanding to know where she’s hiding her boyfriend, FBI agent Mike Finnegan. After setting the guys in suits straight that Mike is a very ex-boyfriend, and he’s not hiding inside her closet, under the bed or behind the couch, KC’s mind starts to wonder what could possibly make the FBI think one of their own was taking bribes? While they had ended the affair on friendly terms, KC knows that Mike’s in trouble, and she’ll do whatever she can to help. So, while Mike may not have always approved of her uncanny ability to find trouble, KC knows he’s gonna be in need of one of her hair-brained schemes to uncover who’s out to frame him. And as always, once KC starts down the rabbit hole to unravel a mystery, there’s no turning back, and she just has to hope her luck isn’t about to run out…
If you’ve been following the misadventures of KC and the Silverthorne crew, then you know nothing will stop Karina once she sets her mind to helping a friend in need! Each installment of the Karina Cardinal series just keeps getting better! Absolutely loved and wish I could give more than 5 stars!
Reader’s Note: The author has written these mysteries to be stand alone, and there are no cliffhangers. But to fully enjoy, I’d recommend reading in order.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received via the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own. **
Karina Cardinal knows how to get into trouble. Maybe it isn’t always her fault, but she sure doesn’t make things easy. When her FBI ex-boyfriend is accused of stealing $1.2 million she finds herself in the thick of it. Luckily she has friends in both high and low places to help her navigate her way clear.
Someday I am going to have to read all of this series, but this is my second book, and like book four before it, I found this book to be “ a quick enjoyable read, full of unusual twists and turns with plenty of humor and the occasional well-placed pop culture reference.” In other words, lots of fun to read. Ellen Butler has a firm grasp on the concept of an adventure story. She metes out the twists and turns with great skill. This book covers a multitude of thriller tropes and carries them well. From identity theft to forged sports memorabilia and the money laundering in between, a lot of ground is covered from multiple directions at once. Just when the story is deadly serious humor is used to learn it a bit and all is good
The Silverthorne group is as awesome as ever. I have a thing for closed-mouth company-type guys with an overprotective attitude and major stealth skills. Rick is all that and a bag of chips. Seriously, he exudes safety and stability, and honestly, that is exactly what KC needs, with her leap first, ask questions later lifestyle.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 5 out of 5.
I received an advance review copy for free through Great Escapes Virtual Book Tours, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
Swindler's Revenge is the fifth book in Ellen Butler's exciting Karina Cardinal Mystery series. Kariba has a knack for getting caught up in a variety of complicated and dangerous cases. Fortunately, by this stage in the series, she's well-versed in legal procedures and self-defence, and has friends she knows she can turn to. Not that that means she's in any less danger…
In Swindler's Revenge, Karina's ex Mike has been accused of acquiring over a million dollars by some nefarious means. Having parted on (reasonably) good terms, and unconvinced that Mike is guilty, Karina chooses to help Mike evade the FBI until she can work out what really happened.
It's a real page turner, full of plenty of details and clues to keep the reader engaged. There are some great characters - I have a bit of a soft spot for Rodrigo, who's always got Karina's back and who is as (if not more) observant as the trained people at the FBI and Silverthorne.
I'd recommend reading this series from the start, although you can absolutely jump in here if this book particularly appeals to you. Karina develops as a character over the course of the series so it's good to see that unfolding.
This book gets five stars from me, a great addition to the series! It's a must-read for anyone who likes snuggling up with a good mystery.
Having never read a Karina Cardinal mystery or any other book by Ellen Butler, Swindler’s Revenge was a fantastic book. As a civilian, Karina really shouldn’t involve herself in dangerous things. Having been involved in multiple cases which involved getting out of trouble with or without the help of friends, Karina is the to jump in headfirst.
On a perfectly peaceful Saturday, Karina’s lazy morning is interrupted by a knock on the door and the FBI and IRS invading her personal space. It seems her once boyfriend, FBI agent Michael Finnegan is wanted for suspicion of taking a bribe. A $1.2 million bribe? Karina isn’t buying it and soon finds herself under the surveillance of the FBI.
Shortly after, Karina’s commute is interrupted by a cell phone ringing that isn’t hers. She finds the suspicious phone in her pocket and immediately knows that it is Mike. With Mike’s confirmation, Karina knows that Mike is being framed by someone only he doesn’t know who. He wants her help.
With the help of her friends at Silverthorne Security, she finds a hideout for Mike while the team tries to uncover the person responsible for framing Mike. Once again, Karina finds herself deep in an investigation. Will they be able to stop the person framing Mike before it’s too late? And will Karina stay out of harm's way throughout the investigation?
Swindler's Revenge by Ellen Butler is a crime mystery book that everyone can sit up with.
In the FBI, there are no softball cases, especially if an agent gets filthy. Karina Cardinal's Saturday is off to a fast start, and it's not because of the HGTV home improvement marathon she's watching. The FBI is knocking at her home, looking for a fugitive. As if she could simply conceal one in her small apartment. Particularly one by the name of Mike Finnegan. A few months ago, the two of them dubbed it Splitsville, but Mike? Accept a bribe of $1.2 million? No and no, respectively. Regardless of how much proof the feds claim to have.
When a strange burner phone appears in Karina's pocket, she has no doubts about who put it there. Mike is deep underground and so far off the grid that he requires assistance in determining who is framing him and why. Karina does what she does best: she dives in with both feet, oblivious to the hazards. What's the problem with leaping before looking? You have the option of landing on a planet of dirt. And if an old foe begins playing hardball, you may find yourself six feet beneath it.
I loved this story and the concept of it as well. I loved every page of it. Every chapter was exciting. This is the first book by this author and I can't wait to read more.
Swindler’s Revenge (Karina Cardinal Mysteries Book 5) by Ellen Butler
5 +++++ Stars
This series has seriously become one of my favorite series ever! I think this one might be my favorite, I say might because it changes every time I read one! This author already sits up in my favorites and when a new release comes out it's just automatic no matter the title, the synopsis or the cover, if it has her name..It's an auto one click!
You could read all of these as standalones. Although I couldn't imagine not having all of the books read in order to get the full effect. Especially this one, as I believe you would feel like you're missing something. Also the connection to many of the characters truly needs to be made and understood to fully appreciate this story.
Miss Butler never stops making me smile and many times laugh out loud with Karina's antics, and I've mentioned many times how I'd love to be her friend and partner in solving these mysteries she keeps falling into. I connected to her in the first book and absolutely love her!
The story kept me guessing and there were times I was so far off base I just laughed at myself.
I can not recommend this series and this book high enough and I can not wait to start at the beginning and read them all over again in the future!
Swindler’s Revenge (Karina Cardinal Mysteries Book 5) by Ellen Butler 5 of 5 Stars As a fan of the ‘Karina Cardinal Mysteries’ series I was looking forward to catching up with the heroine, who feels like an old friend, Karina Cardinal and as usual I was not disappointed. Book five in the series and each one really does get better. Having split up with Mike a few months ago Karina is surprised when the FBI start banging on her door hunting for a fugitive by the name of Mike Finnegan! Despite the damning evidence they claim to have Karina just can’t see Mike taking a 1.2 million bribe and so when a burner phone appears in her pocket, she’s not surprised to hear Mikes voice on the other end. Mike needs Karina’s help to find out who’s framing him and why, as he is deep under cover. Unfortunately this puts Karina in danger especially when an old enemy turns up, but as usual Karina ignores the dangers in order to solve the mystery and prove Mike’s innocence. A fast paced exciting storyline with plenty of plot twists, this story had me gripped from page one. Karina is a great strong female main character who really brings the stories together. I was up late reading this book as I just couldn’t put it down, a must read novel and I also recommend the series.
I just love love love Karina Cardinal mystery books from the ever talented Ellen Butler!! With every book in this series I find myself saying over and over these get better and better and I once again find myself saying that with Swindler’s Revenge. I was up way past my bedtime to read how Karina would get herself out of the mess she found herself in once again in this one. I just had to know. This one was so good I couldn’t read it in pieces so I dove in and found out and with every page I was more and more hooked into her story laughing and yelling at my kindle as the hubby stirred next to me and rolled his eyes at my excited reading. People these books are not ones that you want to miss if you love mystery, crime, drama, romance, suspense, laughter, travel, and so much more. Every time Butler takes you to a new place and on a new adventure that will make you feel as if you have slipped on your private investigator shoes and jumped right into the action yourself. I love it and I only cry when I read the very last page because it is over. This one brought us so many changes but I can't bear to divulge them. I just can assure you don’t miss it run and one-click today for your chance to find out what KC is up to for yourself!
I have been a fan of every last one of the Karina Cardinal mysteries. But let me tell you that this book has definitely become one of my favorites. It takes the mystery, suspense, and political intrigue that I have come to expect and really ups it by making it hit close to home for Karina. This time its the FBI who are involved, but she is being accused of harboring a fugitive. Also known as her ex-boyfriend. Who she is definitely not hiding, but who also is accused of taking off with over a million dollars. However, this doesn’t fit anything she knows about her ex-boyfriend. So either, she didn’t know him like she thought she did, he has lost his mind or there is something else going on. Of course, Karina needs to begin to start this out for herself because not only is her name attached, but also none of this is making any sense. So she jumps head first into another case that kept me reading long into the night. I cannot recommend this or the other Karina Cardinal books enough. I love every page and the characters are all so interesting and really add so much depth to the plot - they keep the plot moving. Definitely pick up this book!
Swindler's Revenge The Karina Cardinal Mysteries Book 5 By Ellen Butler ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ This is another story in the Karina Cardinal Mysteries. While this series could be read as standalones I recommend you read this series in order. Karina Cardinal is at it again. This time it's her ex boyfriend that is in trouble with the FBI. So she sets out to find the answers as well as the truth. Although jumping with both feet is never a good idea. She goes for it. Ex meaning she and Mike broke up months ago. That does not mean she does not care. Something is not right, she knows Mike would never take the money and disappear like this. So will Karina again save the day? Is Mike really who they say he is?
Ellen Butler has once again knocked the ball out of the park. This story is well written and a true laugh out loud mystery. But you know it has some of those heart stopping moments. I love the characters all with their own challenges. Karina makes this story run, but nothing better than helping an ex in trouble. I could not put this one down, I just had to finish as it was that captivating. Ellen Butler, you have once again given us the right feels! Well Done Ellen Butler! Well Done! !
Swindler's Revenge is book 5 in the Karina Cardinal Mysteries series by Ellen Butler but for me it was the first book I have read not only in this series but by this wonderful author. I will definitely be finding more books by Ms Butler to read and back tracking to read the rest of this fun series. Even though I did started with the 5th book in this series and there was small references to other the books, my enjoyment of this book was in no way diminished by not having read the first 4 books. Would I recommend you read them first? Well yes I would but purely because if they are anything like this book you will absolutely love them and not because it is needed to enjoy this book.
Karina Cardinal is a vivacious, fun and spirited character whose talented for unintentionally finding trouble has once again found her in the middle of a mystery she just can't leave alone. When her Ex Boyfriend, FBI agent Mike Finnegan, is accused of a serious crime, she just knows right from the start that he is innocent. With help from the gorgeous and very serious Rick Donovan and his team at Silverthorne she will do all she can to prove just that.
This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites yet. One of the things I most enjoy about this author and her books is the fact that they are well written and her use of details make her stories realistic. I enjoyed being pulled into this story by the suspense and the great characters. I found them to be connectable and they made the story engaging. This is a fast paced story about a hunt for a fugitive who just happens to be someone you know and what happens if you leap before you look. Karina is back in another crime stopper story. This time the hunt has to do with Mike which she hasn't seen since their split. Before she realizes it, she jumps in with both feet and ignores the dangers. But will the dangers ignore her? How deep will she find herself? She is such a great character and what she brings to the story just keeps me coming back. I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend seeing what happens to Karina in her next crime mystery. You don’t want to miss it.
5 Stars Swindler’s Revenge (Karina Cardinal Mysteries Book 5) by Ellen Butler
Swindler's Revenge is the fifth book in the Karina Cardinal Mysteries Series by Ellen Butler. I swear with each book I say it’s my favorite yet and I’m going to say it again. I’ve truly enjoyed reading this series and will definitely be re-reading several times in the future. This author continues to amaze me with her attention to detail and I love being pulled into her stories I feel like I’m right there with her solving mysteries. Karina is back in yet another fast paced story but this time it’s a hunt for a fugitive that she knows. Karina and Mike split up months ago and she hasn’t seen him since. Before she realizes what she’s doing really doing she jumps right in and ignores the danger she might have put herself in. Can she solve the mystery of whose framing mike before it’s to late? I highly recommend reading this to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to see what this author brings us next.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo, this is the last book in the series. Swindler's Revenge by Ellen Butler is another superb story. Karina Cardinal and the gang are back, and I just love them. Although they are standalone stories make sure you start at the being and fully immerse yourself in all things Karina Cardinal. This series just gets better and better with each book. This unpredictable thrilling ride will have you laughing out loud and holding your breath at the same time. Ellen is the master of mystery, and this series is just proof of that. You never know where the story will go and what is going to happen next. As is her style Karina finds herself in trouble whether she means to or not. However, in this case things go from bad to worse as she tries to solve the mystery of why her ex is being framed for a crime, she knows he would not have committed. As always, a brilliant tale. Keep them coming.
Swindler’s Revenge by Ellen Butler is the fifth book in the Karina Cardinal Mysteries series and the first one that I have read. Even though I was able to read this as a standalone I feel you would get a better understanding for the characters if the series was read in order. This book is a book that love that grips you from the beginning and doesn't let go. There are so many twists and turns in here that you can never predict what will happen next and I couldn't put it down.
When Karina's Saturday was disturbed by agents looking for her ex boyfriend she is shocked to discover he is wanted in connection of taking $1.2 million from his work. Now he's gone missing.
Karina doesn't believe it was him as its so out of character so she is now on a mission to find him before the agents do and unravel this case. Who is trying to set him up? Is he being set up or blackmailed? And what secrets and dangers will Karina find herself caught in trying to solve this case.
Swindler's Revenge is a fantastic addition to the Marina Cardinal Series. I love that the overall tone of this book. Karina Cardinal or K.C. really seems to find herself in one hotspot after another. I mean, I love the girl, I really do, but she needs to work on her self-preservation. KC finds herself in the middle of an FBI investigation after her ex-boyfriend is accused of some pretty shady things. KC is convinced that the ex-boyfriend Michael, is innocent. She is going to have a heck of a time proving it while the FBI is breathing down her neck.
This book is equal parts hilarious, dramatic, suspenseful, mysterious, and has some hot chemistry. Lovers of all those genres will love this book. This is part 5 of the series and can be read as a stand-alone, however, I feel that, with all series, you should read them in book order, as the author intended. This is a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
I have only recently began to love mysteries, but its books like this that keep me interested. This book was fast paced, and unexpected. Action, suspense, intrigue, drama, and even some humor were just some of the tidbits wrapped up in this cozy mystery. This was book #5 so I have to backtrack to the first 4 because I can only imagine they were as good as this one. The book begins with the FBI searching Karina's home for her ex-boyfriend Michael who they believe has stolen $1.2 Million and then went offshore to the Cayman Islands. Karina immediately finds that information disturbing and uncharacteristic of the Michael she knows. As the story unfolds from there Karina is contacted by Mike and true to her belief finds that he was possibly framed, and he needs her help. As Karina, Mike, and the FBI race to uncover the truths the plot keeps thickening and of course keeps you guessing. This fun read is a must if you have not.
Swindler’s Revenge (Karina Cardinal Mysteries Book 5) by Ellen Butler. I LOVED this book. I read it in one sitting! Its the story of Karina Cardinal or KC to her friends. Karina is minding her own business for once and watching tv when someone pounds on her door. Its the FBI and they are demanding to know where her ex boyfriend Mike is and she is trying to tell them she doesn't know. Mike Finnegan is her ex boyfriend and even though they aren't together she knows he needs her help. Mike didn't like Karina getting involved in all these situations but now he's more interested because it involves him. Mike knows someone is out to frame him but he has no idea who or why? They are accusing him of embezzling millions of dollars and Karina knows he didn't do that. While she is investigating she gets herself into problem after problem but that is just normal for Karina! This book can be read as a standalone but its so much better if you read them in order!
This isn't the first book I've read by Butler. Each Karina Cardinal Mystery keeps getting better. Butler knows how to keep her readers coming back and I can't wait for the next installment.
Karina is our ever so daring woman. She will do anything she can to help the ones she cares about. When Mike, her ex, is being investigated she chooses to go to Silverthorne for help. The quote I chose for Karina is: “I bet you were popular with the ladies when they figured out you could dance.”
Rick has a soft spot for Karina as we've seen in the other books. He cares about her and only offers to help Mike so he can get her to agree on going on a date with him. Then he gets the scare of his life when he realizes that Karina is in the middle of a shootout. The quote I chose for Rick is: “Why don’t we go to your place? I’ll teach you the horizontal mambo.”
Swindler’s Revenge is Book Five in the Karina Cardinal Mysteries Series. Karina’s newest adventure finds her single after her and her FBI boyfriend Mike broke up. Now he is in a heap of trouble after being accused of taking a large bribe and running away with 1.2 million dollars. On the run as a wanted fugitive only adds to making him look guilty. As his ex-girlfriend, Karina is also someone of interest to the FBI. Although Mike is her ex, Karina does not believe for a second that he is guilty of taking the bribe. It seems that someone dangerous is determined to frame Mike and Karina is equally determined to clear Mike’s name and get to the bottom of who is responsible. The situation becomes intense as Karina delves into the case with the help of some friends. This book had danger, drama, mystery, tension, action, suspense, witty banter, and a bit of romance. I love how feisty, determined, strong, and independent Karina is. Bring on Book Number Six!
I was pulled right in as soon as I started. Karina’s Saturday morning is interrupted when the FBI knocks on her door. She is shocked to hear they are looking for her ex. Loved Karina and her sassiness no matter who she was talking to while they searched her home.
Knowing how straight laced her ex is she doesn’t believe what they were telling her. She needs to find him before they do to help him find the truth behind what is going on.
Will Karina be able to help Mike clear his name? How far is she willing to go?
Overall this was a thrilling page turning read. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what came next. The secondary characters added a great element to the story. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. 1-click and get started today.
This is the first book I have read by this author and it was a great first book. I realized after I was a few pages in that it went to a series, but I didn't feel like I had missed out on a lot. It does make me want to go back and read the other adventures from the first book.
In Swindler's Revenge Karina Cardinal has her Saturday morning interrupted by the FBI. They are looking for her ex boyfriend Mike Finnegan as he supposedly took a $1.2 million bribe. She doesn't believe he would do something like that, but the FBI believes they have the right man. Mike believes he was framed and thinks he knows who is behind it, but how can he prove he didn't do what he is accused of? Karina believes that Mike is genuinely a good guy and jumps in feet first to help him out of this jam. How much danger is she putting herself in to help out a friend?
Swindlers Revenge, by Ellen Butler is the 5th book in the Karina Cardinals series. This is the first book in this series I have read but I will be definitely going back to read the other books in the series. When FBI agents knock on Karina’s door looking for her ex-boyfriend Mike, who has allegedly stolen $1.2 million from the government, she knows that she needs to investigate it further. Utilising her skills and contacts in private security she is determined to help undercover the plot, especially since the FBI and IRS are following her. When Mike eventually makes contact she is even more determined to help clear his name. This was a really enjoyable novel, Karina is a strong woman who knows what she wants. I really liked the dynamic between the different characters and how they may continue growing in the future.
Swindler’s Revenge by Ellen Butler is the fifth book in the Karina Cardinal Mysteries series. This is a fantastic series that just keeps on getting better. I think this book has to be my favourite of the series so far. It is exciting and full of twists and turns all the way through. I always find it so easier to fall back into the main character and her story. This one is fast paced and really pulls you in. The author knows exactly how to keep you engaged and has really created a book that you cannot put down. Although I would recommend reading this series in order you can read this book as a standalone. However it is definitely worth your time to read all of the books. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to reading the next.
Swindler's Revenge by Ellen Butler is the fifth book in the Karina Cardinal series. First, I recommend reading the series to know Karina's past escapades and the other characters that recur in the series. Karina seems to have things under control until the FBI shows up at her door looking for her ex, Mike Finnegan. Could Mike not be the upright FBI agent Karina thought he was? This story is a great addition to the series. I like that Karina finds herself in crazy situations but still finds her way through with the help of some talented individuals. I also like that this isn't so intense and serious that it overwhelms the reader. The story has intensity but a nice amount of humor and a smidge of romance. I look forward to reading more in this series and from this author in the future.
Ellen Butler has done it again. Swindler’s Revenge is a masterfully written cozy mystery. I enjoy the picture Ellen Butler describes because it is vivid. There are so many twists and turns, edge of my seat moments that kept me reading until I was done with the last word. The characters are fully developed and relatable. In particular, I love Karina as a character. She is one of my favorite characters. In this book, she is involved with a case that she personally knows and it happens to be Mike. She jumped into this investigation without regard to her own safety. She gets into the investigation pretty far. Can she find Mike or is the danger too great? I highly recommend this book and the other books in the Karina Cardinal Mystery series
Swindler's Revenge is book five in the Karina Cardinal Mysteries by Ellen Butler. A new to me author, this story was a great way to sink my teeth into Ellen Butler's work. I was cackling away from the very first chapter. The engagement with Karina was instant. This rebel has an agenda and it's not just to solve a mystery. This character is constantly busy and drama is ever present at ever chapter. Karina's quick wit is enviable, her personality larger than life, and the author's portrayal of each character encouraging.
If you are wanting excitement, energy, suspense, romance and constant activity, then this story is for you. I certainly enjoyed every word, and will be going to read the rest of the books I have to get caught up on all that is crazy enthralling Karina. 4 stars.
Swindler’s Revenge by Ellen Butler is book five of the Karina Cardinal Mysteries series. The series could be read as standalone a bit honestly you don’t want to miss anything so read them in order!
Karina and Mike broke up months ago. Why is the FBI banging on her door looking for him? There is no way he would do what they are accusing him of. They may not be together anymore but Karina knows Mike and she knows she needs to help. As usual she just jumps right in because why not? Someone needs her help. Will Karina find herself in a world of trouble or will she clear Mike’s name?
I was on the edge of my seat as usual with this series. I had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen. It’s an intriguing mystery you don’t want to put down!
