Alex has a big name in hockey, famous for his stick skills—on and off the ice. But he’s also got a freckle-faced female problem. He took his sister’s tomboy best friend, Charley, to a Vegas wedding to cheer her up after a bad breakup.
Too much champagne later and he’s waking up with Charley in his bed and his ring on her finger. And the crazy part is…
Mrs. Alex Stone has a nice ring to it. Even though Charley knows the name’s not sticking. Her best friend, Bella, only set her up with Alex to make her ex jealous. Karma, she called it. Too many drinks and a lot of laughs later, Alex suggests they elope as a lark. Charley’s all in. It is Vegas, after all.
Charley calls timeout after the not-so-fake honeymoon, but Alex says they’re going into overtime.
I have read maybe 2 from this series and this one was pretty quick read and fun.
Now hands down if Alex slept with that rink bunny i would have rated this lower or dnf.. but glad he wasn't feeling it.. but he mentioned he had his fair share in woman.. so he is a playboy, but he has good qualities he's protective, charming and was sorta jerkish when his sister asked him a favor to take her bff Charley to the wedding he remembers her as a tomboy and she would ruin his "bang" a bridesmaid.. but he would do this favor and reconnect with friends..but that changed when he saw her she wasn't what he expect she had grown-up, was still tomboyish still had her sass and was gorgeous..he felt some spark already.
They had fun at the wedding even had some fun in the bathroom and dealt with the crappy ex.. to eloping now ill be honest i didnt think they were drunk drunk.. they sounded buzz as heck.. they knew what they were doing so i don't believe it.. but bot that honeymoon sex ;) was 🔥
Now Alex doesn't want it to end not by a long shot.. so he wants a longer honeymoon before they file for divorce, they get closer but a misunderstanding and some words are said to have Charley take a step back but Alex won't let her second guess him or take back what she said.
Slight ow/om drama the ex bf and some random rink bunny trying to cause drama,Drama, secondary chara, sexy times,no virgins and guy was a playboy (but didnt show any ppls)

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, or does it? Who doesn’t like big stick and man who knows how to use it. It was a bit predictable but hey that is just what you need sometimes. Loved it!
I really enjoyed this hockey romance by Mari Carr. Alex and Charley are couple goals. It was a fast read, low angst and plenty of steam! I will be recommending this to everyone!
It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book by Mari. But this book only made me realize I need to dive back into reading her books.
This was a sweet, hilarious, & exciting read. Alex & Charley were the perfect match. I seriously loved Charley’s character! She had sass, strength, knew her own worth, created an amazing book series that I hope exists in real life, was a complete tomboy & knew her way around the ice. I think that’s what I loved the most about these two was hearing about their pasts playing hockey together & then playing against each other in the present. So funny!
Alex’s character surprised me in the best way. That ending was just perfect. I want a guy to sweep me off my feet like that but maybe a little less publicly haha! A really enjoyable, fun & easy read!
Okay, this book was a tonne of fun, and sexy, and just a great read, I LOVED IT! As an added bonus, with a little bitty glance, though an important piece of the story, of a couple of Collin’s clan. This friends to lovers, never thought about them that way, completely out of character, not the rebound guy, story was super steamy, wonderfully funny, and with just the right dash of emotion. In other words, this quickie hit all the marks 😊
This was so fun!!! When Charley and Alex end up as dates to a wedding thanks to a plotting sister...they're both looking to drown some sorrows. Add in some tequila and the fact that they're in Vegas, and it's only a matter of time before they end up at a wedding chapel.
I loved the connection these two had. Growing up together, they knew just how to push each other's buttons, and even though they hadn't seen each other in years, they were able to pick up where they left off...but this time with a heck of a lot of sexual tension. I loved that Charley had her own career and wasn't dependent on him and that they were good for each other. A great read!
This was an enjoyable read. Alex just got eliminated from the playoffs and his sister decides to set him up. He grew up with Charley and was expecting the tomboy he knew. However, he was surprised to find out she had grown up to be a good looking woman. What started out as fun turned out to be something amazing for both them.
This was a fun and enjoyable read for me by an author that was also new to me. I loved the chemistry between the alpha hockey player and the tom girl heroine.
I really liked the story...it wasn't anything I haven't read before but this was so well done. I loved the characters. There wasn't a lot of hockey but it still seemed right.
She isn't the tomboy he remembers and he needs to put a ring on her finger as quick as he can
Big Puck is the sixth book in the Size Matters series by Blake Wilder. This is the story of Alex Stone and Charlotte Matthews, aka Charley, who find themselves waking up in Vegas with rings on the fingers after a night of one too many cocktails it seems. But Alex is the older brother of Charley's best friend since kindergarten, Bella. These three grew up together and Charley was a tomboy through and through. Alex went off and became a big NHL star and was enjoying all that came with it. Alex has the wedding of Roger and Lindsey to attend and he plans on going stag so he can nail a bridesmaid or two, like it is a sport or something. But Bella calls and asks if he would take Charlotte as his date. It seems Charlotte's ex dumped her just before the wedding, as Charlotte is also attending, and she now needs a date, but one with a bit of payback attached. Being seen with Alex would score a hat trick against the ex. It takes some convincing on Bella's side but Alex finally agrees to it. Ales has not seen Charlotte in ten years and boy is he in for a surprise when he lays eyes on her again. What he remembered as being a tomboy has grown into a beautiful, smart, witty and feisty woman that he cannot keep his eyes off of, or his hands it seems. She is still a tomboy underneath and also one that loves the game of hockey. Before the night is over he realizes that she is his match in more ways than on but one that he definitely wants to win.
This story is really well written with witty banter between Alex and Charlotte and a great story-line. The characters are wonderful, including the many supporting, and they all weave throughout the story making it a fast-paced, interesting and great read. I recommend this book!
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Finding out your ex of three years has already moved on and is bringing said new fling to a wedding you are both attending burns a little more than Charlotte Matthews cares to admit. But her best friend Bella has the perfect remedy to get even... take Bella's older hot hockey playing brother to the wedding as her date, and show that ex that she doesn't need him anymore. It sounds like a fun plan, but the two haven't seen one another in quite a while and Charlotte is a little worried it may be too awkward to sell.
But then her handsome fake suitor shows up on her doorstep and their both hit with a wave of attraction that neither expected... and suddenly it doesn't seem too hard to fake it after all!
Making His Play is a friends to lovers romance that is bound to have you smiling throughout. At first mention of this faux romance both are certain it will be too awkward to sell, but all it takes is one glance at each other to change their minds. A lot of years have passed since the last time they were around one another, and they are not the same two people before. Charlotte has blossomed into a beautiful woman that Alex can't take his eyes off of, and it doesn't take long for him to want to ditch his bachelor lifestyle to make this faux thing between them a little more permanent. But Charlotte isn't so ready to agree to forever, she just spent the last three years with a man that promised her forever and then bailed at the last moment... needless to say her trust is a little shaken. But Alex is determined to show her that it will work, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching him convince her.
This was such a fun and refreshing change of pace for me, the words brought smiles and laughs I didn't know I needed, and the characters completely robbed me of my attention and heart. I have not read a title from this author in quite a while, and now I am wondering why on earth I haven't... her words gave me the perfect afternoon escape! Highly recommend this one, it's a can't miss read!!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
4.5 stars. Well I skipped right to this book because I do love me a big, sweet hockey player! And I'm not sorry because I really enjoyed it! It may be short but it packs a fun sweet story, complete with humor and tons of passion into it via Alex and Charley. I love this couple! Charley is Alex's sisters BF and has been since childhood. Because she was a tomboy and played hockey herself, Charley was always like one of the guys, that is until now. Alex is gobsmacked by the Charley he picks up to take to a wedding. She is still the same girl on the inside but her exterior has changed a lot and now Alex finds himself very attracted to her. They have an interesting story for sure and I was cheering for them to be together and have their HEA.
I loved this one this was so sweet a perfect romance. Charley was dumped right before her friends wedding in Vegas a trip she herself was hoping ended in her own wedding. She changed her Tom boy appearance and went by her full name and for what to be dumped after three years right before the wedding? Her best friend demands that her famous sexy hockey player brother Alex take Charley to the wedding. He just lost a big game so why not? Charley is all grown up and sexy she’s still fun and humble but now she’s all woman a drinking game turned into a drunken Vegas adventure and a wedding, well 2 weddings. Will they end this as soon as they get home or will they try to make it work? This was such a fun story I loved it so much!! I wish it was longer.
This held my attention and kept me reading. I was pleased there was more storyline and character depth than in some of Mari Carr’s other books. I like Charley as a character.
A few offhand criticisms are these:
I wish Alex had read the Tomboy Tess books after learning Charley wrote them.
I wanted more dialogue/confrontation between Alex and Charley in regards to OW.
When the family is playing flag football, how can Mr. Stone be at the bbq flipping burgers with Mr. Matthews and being playing flag football at the same time? Inconsistency like this starts to ruin a story, but I persevered.
Charley is facing seeing her cheating ex at a wedding when her best friend offers a solution: a date with her charming, playboy brother, Alex. Alex reluctantly agrees to take his tomboy childhood friend to the wedding but never expects grown up Charley to be as stunning and fun as she is. One night doesn't seem like enough but Alex doesn't do commitments and Charley doesn't do anything but.
This was a fun, fast paced story. Lots of steam, romance and surprises! Loved it!!
Aw they were so dang cute. Best friends since for forever. I so wish we had a Vegas elopement opportunity like that in Australia, would make for one hell of a fun time.
The 2 of them were perfect for each other. They were like two pieces of the puzzle that came together and just fit. It just took them a few years apart to work that out. Their supporting cast members, family, were so cool. I almost want them for myself.
A definite steamy hot read you will not want to miss
This was my first book by this author and I will definitely read more of her work. I loved Alex and Charley together. She was strong and opinionated and able to handle his cockiness. She never failed to put him in his place. I love a book with a strong h and I loved his family and their dynamics. I loved the side characters as well. Some of them should have their own book too
This was such an exciting story to read. I thought Alex and Charley were so good together. They had such great chemistry and the sass coming out of Charley had me cracking up.
The storyline had me not wanting to put the book down and staying up until the wee hours of the night to finish it. But also, you can never go wrong with a Mari Carr book.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Well this was the first book I have read from Blake Wilder and it definitely will not be the last! Holy wow was this book HOT! I was sucked into the story from the first page and it was fabulous. The chemistry between Alex and Charley was off the charts steamy and just wow. I would highly recommend this book and now I am off to grab the rest of this series!
I loved this hot and steamy friends to lovers story!! Nothing better than a hot hockey player and your sisters best friend all grown up and gorgeous!! Enjoyed all the steam and sexy scenes that this book had and all the crazy great chemistry that they both had!! Don't hesitate to grab this book!!
I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a story about Charlotte/Charlie who gets dumped by her 3 year boyfriend, Ben the night before a friends Vegas wedding and he plans to bring a date to the wedding who is NOT Charlie.
Her best friend growing up was Bella who has an older brother, Alex who is an NHL team captain who just lost the chance for his team to win the big game. When his sister calls him and begs him to bring Charlie as his date because she has just been dumped by her ex in a horrible way.
Charlie and Alex have not seen each other in 8 years so they get a big surprise when he knocks on her door as her date. Even though both have broken hearts for different reasons. The attraction is immediate and after getting drunk at the wedding they both decide to get hitched.
Whats cool about this story is that Colm Collins is a friend of Alex and also his lawyer. It was fun to watch him hang out and be a part of this story with Charlie and Alex.
I also loved Alex's sister and Charlie's bestie, Bella and her boyfriend Josh. They were a lot of fun in this story and I loved how great a friend they are to Charlie. Alex is very marriage and forever shy but he has to decide what he wants his future to be before Charlie gets that annullment.
This was a cute and short story but not too short. It does have a lot of hot times for both Charlie and Alex. Its kinda a thing with this author so expect that. For me it was too much, so I skimmed the sexy times. Aside from that this story has some awesome characters and I enjoyed the plot and loved this hot Vegas Drunk Mistake Marriage between Alex and Charlie.
"I could not put this book down." Alex Needed Someone, No, Not Someone, Charley!!
The answer is NO. Alex little sister Bella begs him to be Charlotte "aka Charley" Matthews date at a wedding they will be attending in Vegas. After more No's Bella cuts him off and explains the reason for the request is so that she does not have to see her ex-boyfriend who dumped her right after his hockey game. So Bella wants him to provide a little karma as Charley comes in on his arm as a f-u to her ex. Yeah they are about that Karma. So Alex agrees to bring Charley "the tomboy" as his date.
When Charley answers the door when Alex comes to pick her up, Alex has to pick his jaw up off the floor. Granted he hasn't seen tomboy Charley in decades but he was in no way prepared for the beauty that answered the door. Oh crap, how is he going to keep his promise to Bella to keep his hands off her. And Charley isn't helping with her seductive come hither smiles either and causing him to stand at attention. Looks like this is not going to be a boring weekend after all. Because Alex has no intention of leaving Charley alone, she is leaving with him.
Well after too many tequila shots Alex and Charley wake up the next morning "Married." Sure Alex wanted to make Charley's dream come true, but in the cold light of day, Charley realizes that this is a "Big, very Big" mistake. However Alex who has said he was going to remain a bachelor has found that the right woman can make you do anything and Charley is definitely the right one. To Alex, their marriage definitely was not a mistake. Now all he has to do is convince his reluctant bride that he loves her and she is "his" and he's never letting go.

The sixth book in the Size Matters series a well written short story that held my interest until the end. I enjoyed reading Baltimore captain, Alex Stone and Charley Matthews an author and his Sister's Best Friend's story. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
When professional hockey player Alex Stone picks up the phone call from his little sister, Bella, after a big game he isn't expecting that she has a big favor to ask him. That favor? Taking her best friend, Charlotte/Charlie to a mutual friend's wedding he has his reservations. He wanted to hook up with someone at the wedding not hang out with an old friend. But when Bella tells him that Charlie's boyfriend of three years that she was hoping to elope with that weekend dumped her the night before but that he had been cheating on her. Because of that Alex knows that he has to help Charlie. After wasting three years of her life on a cheating ass Charlie is ready to let loose at a wedding in Vegas, she intends to make her ex jealous, not only being over him but bringing a famous hockey player as her date. As the night goes on Charlie and Alex get progressively more drunk off of shots and Charlie confesses to him that she had hoped to get married that weekend. When Charlie and Alex wake up the next morning they expected to have a hang over, they didn't expect to be married to one another. While Charlie is shocked by what happened Alex isn't as he wasn't as drunk as and he is the one who asked her. Determined to keep everything as normal as possible Charlie and Alex elect not to tell anyone but Alex asks Charlie for one thing, for her to give him a honeymoon to see where things go between them. But when the paparazzi chat Alex in what looks like a compromising position can Charlie trust in what they have together?
Such wonderful characters! The story is very witty, entertaining with a nice amount of steam. Charley is just out of a relationship where she had changed herself to suit her boyfriend. Alex has just missed out on going to the Stanley cup finals. These long time friends meet again after eight years, and from there the journey to finding yourself and love begins.
This was a quick read with likable characters, that I would probably want to be friends with! I love a heroine with backbone, and ‘outside of the norm’, especially when she gives the hero lip about his ego/attitude. The story line progressed at a good pace and I always love a good HEA. Def thumbs up for this one!
I don't normally give five stars to novellas because so often it feels like something is missing, but this book really has everything it needs to be a sweet, feel-good romance. I loved the MCs, and their relationship actually felt believable despite the shortness of it. Just a lot of fun to read.
One of the best "woke up married in Vegas" books I've read 👍.
I really enjoyed this book. Best one yet. For a short story this had good character depth and it was more than just the sex. It’s a Sister’s best friend and friends to lovers book. Love that combo.
