This book is good for probably most dogs. The trouble I had with it is that my dog suffers with allergies and cannot be left on his own or he will chew his paws, underbelly and scratch his ears until they bleed (if given the opportunity).
I was expecting more of how to introduce dog to baby, how to build that relationship between the two of them. It is mostly how to train your dog to sit/lay down/go to his bed/ not jump and how to be alone, which is all well and good and as said above it is good for most dogs/ new puppy owners.
I'm just a little disappointed that it really doesn't go into any detail about building that relationship between your dog and your baby.

very much the message that "babies are boring" your dog shouldn't be getting excited, loving or falling over itself for your baby, but ignore it the way it ignores furniture. This will prevent anything going awry between the two, because even if you're never leaving them alone a baby or dog can do something unexpected and dangerous. Making sure that theres not a dramatic "homecoming" where everything changes, but that you make the change as gradual as possible for the dog, lowering their exercise to a manageable level with Baby before it becomes essential. From a dogs perspective, Babies are boring.
