**Brand new installment in the Quentin Black Mystery series by USA Today & Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, JC Andrijeski!**

The cat is out of the bag. Humans know about seers.

Whatever few still believed it was a giant hoax, a lie perpetuated by the powers that be, all of that got wiped away in the last, epic battle over Los Angeles.

Now the seer race is on trial, along with its two faces:

Charles “Lucky Lucifer” and his seer terrorists who want to wipe out the vampire race, enslave humans, and rule over all…

…and Black’s hodge-podge band of seers and vampires, who wants the races to co-exist peacefully, who want the world to embrace a new way of existence.

Funnily enough, it turns out Black is the optimist.

Even among his own people, who witnessed how badly things can go wrong between seers and humans on another, now-destroyed world, Black’s idealistic wish for a “live and let live” society generates more than a small amount of resistance. Even for those who want peace as badly as he does, Black’s goals of a transparent, world-wide kumbaya strikes them as naïve in the extreme.

Even his own wife, Miri, worries that things won’t go the way her husband hopes… even before Charles whips his followers into a murderous, fear-filled frenzy, plunging half the world into chaos and what might be the beginnings of its first real race war.

THE QUENTIN BLACK SERIES encompasses a number of gritty urban fantasy and paranormal mystery arcs with science fiction elements, starring brilliant but dangerous psychic detective, Quentin Black, and his partner, forensic psychologist Miriam Fox. Follow Black as he solves crimes, takes on other races and tries to keep his and Miri’s true identities secret to keep them both alive.

Black Angel is an incredible book written by JC Andrijeski, She is perhaps one of the most gifted story tellers that I have had the opportunity to read. She is able to weave a story like an artist, weaves a tapestry. Each intricate line is carefully gathered and stitched into the story. As the pattern develops you begin to see the design, but she leaves a few strings unpulled as she goes, but she hints at what the picture on the tapestry will be. As a reader you are sure you know what that pattern will be but then JC Andrijeski, adds a new thread and you know the picture you had formed was wrong. By the end of the novel JC Andrijeski, has pulled all the threads together and you as the reader will know how the story was developed. I have to tell you that I was absolutely captivated. This book drew me in from the very first page and I admit I had a very difficult time putting it down. I can not recommend a book and author more highly. I intend to read more novels by this author. I received this novel through StoryOrigin and this is my honest opinion.

When the author says "i really hope you like this one", I worry a little. Especially when the author torments me so with the trials she inflicts on Miri and Black. If it's not a psychotic uncle, or a new born vamp, it's a dragon getting in the way.

What would this book bring?

Naturally, I can't say, because, well, spoilers. But I really did like this one. For lots of reasons. Reasons peppered throughout the story. Reasons that give me hope that this pairing will make it through and (eventually) find their own version of HEA.

That's all I want for them. Just ... maybe not yet.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

As a huge fan of Quentin Black, I truly ‘devour’ each new instalment and can’t help but noticing that this series improves with every new book, thus after the glorious ‘Black Hawai’i’ (QB#13) and ‘Black of Wing’ (QB#14), I tried to tame my expectations for this instalment, really thinking it couldn’t get better. Oh silly me, how dared I, “Black is Magic” is…. magic!, yes it really is, the very best kind of magic, that one that feels real and tangible at all times 😉

This book puts a new spin into the verse: the seer secret is out on the open, humans are finally confronted with the truth, seers are living and thriving in their mist. Along with this revelation, they also have to deal with the reality of two different kinds of seers living in their world, confronting each other in an ongoing fight for control: On the one side there is Black, who keeps fighting for his idealistic concept of a peaceful convivence of humans, vampires and seers; on the other there is Lucky Lucifer- Miri’s ill-tempered uncle and Black nemesis – in whose megalomanic vision of power, humans are deemed to be slaved and vampires to be wiping out of the face of the Earth. After years avoiding public confrontation both sides now fight in the open, and Black will have to proof to the stupefied humans, that not only this is not a hoax, but seers are worthy to keep around, while Lucky Lucifer does everything in his power to live up to his name.

And still, in the middle of all this chaos and fighting, what makes this series the jewel that it is, are the interactions and relationship between the characters, who remain credible, relatable, and ‘real’ at all times. Quentin’s love for Miri overcomes every obstacle, his profound sense of responsibility is a goal in itself; seers, vampires, humans, each with their strengths and flaws are beautifully written by J.C. Andrijeski, whose writing style is – as always! - delightful, fluid, fast paced and vivid, with the right dosage of action and romantic to let the characters develop before our eyes with seemingly no effort at all, in a world so similar to our own and yet so different. Quentin’s world is our favourite retreat, with ever-changing brand-new developments, and characters that have become our best friends and worst enemies, and whose only downside is that eventually the book will end (it dares to end 😉 it always does, and it baffles me every single time 😊) and you will have to unavoidably wait for the next instalment to come out, but despair not, there is good news, Andrijeski had mercy on us, read the book, you’ll see, and on top of that next instalment ‘Black Curtain’ (QB#16) is coming out in July, thus.. patience my friends 😉

*The Quentin Black Series is aimed to an adult readership, with occasional strong language and explicit erotic, including M/M relationships, however this is not the core of the book or the series.

Black Is Magic is the fifteenth book in the Quentin Black Mystery series by J.C. Andrijeski. WHY? WHY? WHY? Have I not discovered this author before now? I have seriously been missing out on some stellar reads, and that is something I plan to remedy starting immediately. This turned out to be quite the epic book binge- and I enjoyed every single second- even if the author constantly had my heart in my mouth, or had me pulling my hair out in frustration, or seemed to delight in toying with my emotions pretty much the entire time- I willingly went back for more each and every time. Sixteen books in and I can’t wait for more!!!
Seriously, this series truly is a MUST-READ, especially for anyone who loves really original paranormal mysteries with incredible world-building and scene setting. If you love immersive reads, then this is definitely the series for you!
But be warned, this isn’t a ‘light and fluffy’ cozy paranormal mystery- this has plenty of gritty, raw, violent, emotive, and a ‘hang on to your seat’ and brace yourselves because this is going to get INTENSE situations. There are potential triggers contained through the series- such as violence, murder, abuse, sexual abuse, manipulation, graphic language and more. So keep that in mind if you are sensitive to any of those subjects.
I stumbled on this series purely by accident, and this is another fortuitous find of late, because not only was I hooked on the story within the first few pages and practically inhaled the entire series back-to-back…. it is also turned out to be entirely addictive reading, with Ms. Andrijeski’s stellar storytelling talents, her clever and intriguing touches, the many well-developed and interesting characters, the brilliant ‘world’ creation, and all the other rich layers and ‘flavours’ she poured into her pages, made the real world fade away as I was swept along on adventure after adventure.
J.C. Andrijeski’s world building skills are sheer perfection, putting me front and centre to all the action-packed developments in this immersive, captivating, and addictive book/series. I am so hooked on her work now and will happily devour anything she ever produces- so I see plenty of book binges in my future.
This is a heart-stopping, action-packed, intense, mystery with tension, intrigue, seers, vampires, chemistry, sizzle, science fiction, crime, investigation, deadly games of cat and mouse, murder, violence drama, danger, friendship, politics, agendas, and so much more that I won’t get into here because I really don’t want to spoil it for you.
Ms. Andrijeski has a bold, dynamic, and very vivid writing style that easily brings her story to life- it was like watching a movie play out before my eyes, The descriptions are quite detailed and painted a powerful picture- I really could see this making a fantastic movie or television series.
Highly Recommended Reading!!!
Happy Reading…

Thank you, J.C. Andrijeski!

Cal is Black's old army buddy and he has asked for help on a new case which is a bizarre murder in San Jose where a man has been found sawed in half. The victim is a wealthy venture capitalist and was soon to become Cal's brother-in-law. He has disappeared just before his 40th birthday. Black was holed up in Santa Fe with his wife Miri waiting for another friend recovering from a near-fatal injury and so with time to kill he agrees to take on the case. But nothing is how it seems - especially when the main suspect takes out Black and Miri destroying a building in the process. It sets off a chain of events that could have significance for the entire world, plus an old enemy is waiting to take advantage of the situation and to get his revenge on Miri and Black. Killing them might be his final act before he remakes the world in his own twisted image - only this time he will have the creation#s two most powerful beings at his side.

Wow. I had to sit for some time before my head was clear enough in order to write a review of this book. There were a lot of fast-moving changes that had a really major significance on the world as well as Black and Miri themselves. I loved the multiple layers and the way that they were seamlessly woven into a cohesive story. The local police in San Jose and her knowledge as well as acceptance of certain situations - I really hope she comes to work for Black's company. The changes that happened in this story were unexpected and I certainly didn't see some of them coming. It was nice to see the vampire involvement, as well as Miri's sister Zoe, being central to some of the story - I really hope the relationship between the sisters is repaired in some way. A lot happened. and I'm sure some of this will set the way for the next book in the series. The epilogue via the link at the end was good as well. Well written, easy to read and understand. You need to have read the previous books in the series before this read this book.

Black is Magic is the latest release in the Quentin Black mysteries and there are some pretty big developments in terms of the overall plot arc in this story! Black and Miri are relaxing at the resort after their human wedding when an old friend of Quentin's asks them to investigate the murder of the friend's soon-to-be brother-in-law. Since Miri and Quentin are actually a little bored and Cal is a good friend of Black’s, they agree to investigate. Upon meeting the unlikely primary suspect, they soon realize that this is more than just a simple human murder and they might actually be in over their heads.

I really enjoyed this story, there are some pretty big developments in this book--the kind you want to talk about because of how big they are, but you also don't want to say anything and spoil it. I liked where Quentin and Miri are in their relationship at the end of the book, but some of the things that happened on the path to get them there were very unexpected. These unexpected events will have deeper ramifications in future stories (crossing my fingers for more than just one) so I am looking forward to seeing where this goes. This is a great book in a great series and I cannot recommend it enough!

A Complex and Thrilling Addition To This Series!😲👰😎🙏💥
(Read using Kindle Unlimited)
Black Is Magic (Quentin Black Mystery #15)

We return to this amazing series after Black & Miri's wedding, most of their friends and family are still at the spa resort. Some left to return to San Francisco to imprison Charles after his unwelcome return! Black's friend and army veteran friend Cal, asks for help to find his girlfriends brother, he's been missing for two week's. He thinks it might have 'weirdness' involved. After much prodding he agrees. What follows is a complex web of distractions and potential seer involvement!😳

This author writes in the seer world with such finesse and control. I loved how this story twisted and turned, introduced a potential new friend and possible employee, reintroduced a family member and took so much from both Black and Miri. Both of them grew, again, in maturity and within their bond. They both, but especially Miri, pulled their head of the sand over things she especially didn't want to face.

This book moved this series along so much, it makes me fear the author finishing this series, it's as close to Allie, Revik and co as I can get. I love all of these characters.😍 I'm so looking forward to book #16.🌟

Whenever the name Quentin Black is mentioned I go all soft and mushy inside. Even more than when I think about Revic in Bridge and Sword. Though I have to say they are oh so close. The love and devotion they both have for their wives goes above and beyond anything we are used to.
That love and caring are so apparent in this story it actually hurts to read some passages of the narrative. It is so well written one can "feel" the emotion not only in Black and Miri's love but their pain. Black has never shown any emotion towards others the way he does at this time. We see a side of him that makes him almost human. This is so endearing it is just beautiful and I cant ] emphasize how much it moved Me. Black and Miri are not the only ones who seemed softened in this story. I was surprised about several turn of events. You really have to read this book it is just so good, it is brilliant.

While I love all of the books by JC Andrijeski, the Quentin Black books are by far my favorite from this author. And this one did not disappoint. Black and Miri are married by the human way, and just need to complete the ceremony from the Seer way. While waiting for Nick to recover, Black is approached by a friend to investigate the death of his girlfriend’s brother. And so the twists and turns of the story begin. Although married, Black and Miri are still working through some things, one being Coreq. The ending caught me off guard, but not in a bad way. Looking forward to the next book already.

It’s hard to write a review without giving some of the plot twists away and I don’t want to do that. So I will just say that this series continues on in a great way. You won’t be disappointed.

What an Interesting Story

This Quentin Black novel has a bit more of the paranormal in it. The story starts where the previous book ended. Black's friend, Cal, has come to him for assistance. Took me a sec to place Cal, but we met him when Black took Mira to eat at his place in the first book. Cal owns and runs a rest aura r. We met him occasionally in other books. So, once I placed him in my mind, I was on the go and really caught up in the story. Not sure if this book could be a stand-alone as you have to be familiar with the main characters and their abilities. They have all been excellent though, and this book is no exception.

The Black series is always excellent and this book is no different. You will follow the mystery of a murder and learn more about Miri and Black’s past than you can imagine. Yes, Charles plays a part in this but surprise after surprise will keep you engrossed in the book. I will say that Nick and Jem in the bonus ending is awesome. There are lots of changes to come in the life of the finally seerer married couple. To learn what please read the excellent book! Keep writing books JC Andrijeski because they are excellent!

Black is Magic

This book has so many twists, turns and unforseen outcomes. Black and Miri's lives are about to change in more ways than they ever thought possible. With the help of Brick, Miri's sister Zoe, and Detective Cassavetes they are about to confront a very dangerous person. Awesome story. I can't wait for the next book.

Old Gods

That was quite the shock & surprise twist, which is usual for this author. She has a way to completely catch you off guard & take your imagination to the next level. This particular series is unique but builds off the old world of her other series, it's spectacular how she weave this web together.

Not sure if it has been so long since I read the last book in this series, but this book fell flat for me. I also can’t figure out why the author separated out the epilogue from the story.

I can't get enough of this series, and this is book 15. Quentin and Miri face new challenges in unexpected places. A powerful enemy has aligned with Charles to destroy Quentin, Quentin's dragon, Miri and her ability to transport. This is another great book in this series filled with lots of action and a great plot.

There are so many other characters beside Quentin and Miri who have their own stories. Cowboy and Angel are mentioned but I wanted more. I can't get enough of Nick, but I had to wait until the epilogue to hear from him. I'm not interested in reading the authors other series about a Nick in a future that is without Quentin Black and Miri. I wanted more of Nick in this series. I love the relationship between Quentin and Miri, but they shared little intimacy in this book. I missed their crazy, uncontrollable and mindless lovemaking.

The epilogue was a gem and I thank the author for providing it. I'm looking forward to the next book coming out in 7/22. So glad we won't have to wait an entire year for the next book.
