"It's... it's not good," Harry tells them lowly. "They've given him a month's time, only."
There is so much he needs to explain, but his head is foggy and exhausted and he can't think properly, can't think of how to relay all that he's learned.
"Have you heard of Alucinatio?" is what he starts with.
"The Daydream potion," Hermione says. "The person who intakes it experiences very vivid and realistic daydreams of all they could ever want, but is essentially in a severely catatonic state out in the external world, incapable of any basic functions."
Harry nods. "Somebody's given it to Malfoy." He remembers the tattered remains of a black cloak wrapped around Malfoy. "I think it might have been Professor Snape."
They take a minute to process that.
"And... the cure?" Ron asks.
"Tears of anyone the experiencer craves love of," Hermione answers.
This was so hard to read, heartbreaking but beautiful. I know it has a sequel and I need to read it now because my heart still hurts.
Draco gets tortured by Voldie and the death eaters, pretty badly. Harry can’t rescue him until after the battle, when it was almost too late. Then spent moths with him at the hospital helping him recover. Draco loves Harry. Has loved him since the first time they met. Harry doesn’t love Draco.
Tropes: – Draco/Harry fanfiction – Enemies to lovers
Very slow, not a lot of dialogue and weird switching POVs. Not a lot of development in this one at all since until like 60% Draco isn't even rescued. And then after that it's just a lot of hospital scenes? Idk, I mean it was nice to be in Draco's head for a bit and see what his daydreams are really like but this didn't have many redeeming qualities other than that. I do love other works by this author though so I think this is just a miss for me (it's also their first fic!).
very dark things depicted in this book as warned. but there’s still some beautiful moments. ending feels unfinished and very unsatisfying BUT that is only because it is to be continued in the next book. still brings down the rating a bit especially since we don’t see any proper romance or progress on that front the entire book. not much else was actively happening, so it left the book feeling like a bit of a drag at times. i still loved the writing style so that helps.

This book is literally shifting and it actually made me want to cry. Draco literally lived in a ‘what if’ universe in his head for months and came back to almost dying and depression, like 🥲.
I’m reading the second part rn coz that ending was sad and I need closure.
It is a lot of angst, an enormous lot, but it is a freaking good story and I loved every word of it. It made me ache for Draco, and seeing him slowly opening up to Harry was the best comfort.
slow burn of the century (they literally don't even get together at the end of this one). I love fics where Draco is in love with Harry and he does know, god tier trope.
