For the crime committed against their people, the Klevian warriors seek revenge against Earth! Yet when a human is thrown into Varimar's cell, he discovers he wants more than simple contrition; he wants her very soul!
Cara is the only survivor of an attack on her ship by a group of mysterious aliens. When she’s thrown into a cell, at the mercy of a Klevian warrior, a species Earth has been at war with for thirty years, she fears the only way out for her is death.
Captured by the Faradne and locked away in a dark distant cell, Varimar fully expected to die alone. Yet when his enemy is thrown in with him, he sees an opportunity to seize revenge before his end.
But when he touches the tiny human, everything changes. Varimar finds himself desperate to free her and warn both their worlds of an even more significant threat.
Lucy is an all-round nerd with a life-long love of fantasy and science-fiction, throw in a happily-ever-after and she’s a happy customer. When she’s not reading or writing about alien males and the human women who love them, she’s spending time with her husband and three cats in their Derbyshire home.
I started with the 1st book (Tacori) and backtracked to the prequel since I loved it so much! This is a novella, so obviously very short and bare bones, and I can't help but wish that it had been more fully fleshed out.
Great start to a new series, it's entertaining the storyline is about two species what were tricked into war with each other and given the opportunity to settle the conflict when the real masterminds are discovered. There is great chemistry between the characters and I can't wait to read more. I received this book 📚, as a FREE copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
This is an entertaining intro to the series. Though, I didn't like how it ended. I would have liked it more if, during the five months they were still with the Klevians, that a more civil repore could have been reach between Cara and Kerrin. I didn't like the 'exile' forced on them. I don't think I'll be reading any more at this time, but I might read more of this series later.

I really enjoyed this one.
I liked to idea that two species what were tricked into war with each other were given the opportunity to settle the conflict when the real masterminds behind the conflict were discovered.
there was real chemistry between the couple even before they had the ability to understand each other and seeing each other as enemies.
I liked that it was the male who went into a mating heat instead of the female, that was a new twist.
an alien with four arms and a tail sounded hot where can I get one? It was said the Kelvian's had horns seemed something was missed here she could have touched them or grabbed onto them during sex, or similar to stoking some ones hair.
It had an epilogue which I always enjoy.
I would very happily read other book in this series and would like to see korvalin find his human mate and have to eat his words.
As a series starter, it just doesn't get any more compelling! This story starts off with a roar and a near-death experience and then just continues to get better! This novella begins a new series with 4 armed aliens and brave and firstly human women. I loved so many elements of this story and I'm dying to find out how they will play out in future books. This one is only a few chapters long and is easy to read in an hour. I'm looking forward to reading more in the series!
I liked this read, because it carried on from the blurb ..to what a short read should be. At first I was sceptical about the alien with four arms, however, now, those extra arms, hands are very handy 😜 and the tail. I felt the story had all the elements of a full novel ..awesome
This was my first read from this author. Lucy does not disappoint. My attention was grabbed from page one. While the book was a prequal (meaning super short), Lucy was still able to make me want more.
We get a small glimpse of what the other two books are going to be about; two races fighting against each other, for reasons both unknown. While the aliens (Klevians) can understand the humans, the humans can not understand them. Making it hard for them to communicate.
The story is about Cara and Varimar. A third alien race captures them both and they are locked in a cell together. Varimar realizes that Cara is his mate and he will stop at nothing to protect her and get her out of there.
They have an instant connection and there is lots of spice! :)
I wish that there was more to their story and we got to learn more about them as a couple. But it was a good introduction into the series and I'm excited to read the rest of the series!
👽 “No, my mate… never any regrets. Never about you.” ~~~ I really liked this new world we’re introduced to.
Humans and Klevians are at war. And our heroes find themselves captured by the Faradne.
Despite the animosity between the species, Cara and Varimar are mates. And even with the communication barrier and the enmity in the beginning, their attraction is very strong and their chemistry - scorching hot.
I loved that Varimar was willing to protect and care for his mate even with all the setbacks and consequences he was facing.
And there might be more to this conflict between the races than everyone is expecting.
Overall, the story is a wonderful short and steamy read that left me wanting to know more of this world.
It was too short. I wish there was more of everything. I was going to read Tacori, but since this is the prequel, I figured I’d start here. I guess there will be more world building and politics in there, since this was too short for that. Something I’ve noticed about L. P. Peace novels is that she really gives a lot of thought into the alien races she writes about, even the language and culture. That’s kinda missing here, just the language and some snippets of physiology. It could have easily been three times as long and it would still not be enough.
It was fine for a novella. Plus it was free through Book Funnel so no complaints there. Short with lots of steam, I would have liked more. More context, more plot, more of the main characters talking and interacting in some other way than sexually. It did peak my interest to know more about the world and war between aliens and humans so I may read the other book in this series.
I received a free book from book funnel and this is my honest review.
Varimar is a wonderful start to this new series! Varimar and Cara are sweet together. Very Instalove and insta-steam, this short novella is just the right amount to pull you in to what looks like will be an intriguing series of novels. Can't wait to read them!
Loved this short novella featuring Valimar who goes into heat as soon as he touches lone starship survivor human Cara. Humans had been blamed for killing many of his people but Cara proves another race was responsible. The two are returned to his family’s home afterwards awaiting the birth of their child. Going to book 2 next!
A great setup to the series! Looking forward to the next book! Strong characters in a short setting. Would love longer books by this author! World building sounds like it is on point.. Bring on the next story
I received this book from BookFunnel and want to leave a review. This is a fast paced quick read that will leave you going "awwwww". Right off Cara is being dragged by aliens into a prisoners cell and fighting breaks out. For a prequel that didn't have a lot to it I couldn't put it down!
Cara and her escape pod were captured by the very nasty Faradne and they literally threw her into Varimar's cell. This gave him the energy to break out of his chains. This very short story is a great introduction into this universe.
This is more a snippet of a story treatment than an actual novel…. It starts in the middle of the action, quickly gets to the sex, and then a quick explanation of a 30-year war but no conclusion. Took me like 30 minutes start to finish. *shrug*
Quick, spicy read. It gets straight to the business, gives you a peak into what their world is like and definitely leaves you wanting more! I need more of their story! Big scary aliens, clueless humans trying to catch up to the other species, bad guy aliens, and it hints to so much more.
Great book! L.P. Peace just keeps getting better and better.. I really liked it! It is addicting and fun to read.. I voluntarily received this book for an honest review.
Enemies realizing that the truth presented was not all it seemed to be was a great intro to a new series. Cara and Varimar Thrust into this this unique situation made for a great story.
Just one touch...Cara (h) has been abducted from the spaceship she's stationed on by Faradne and thrown into a cell with her worst nightmare - a massive Klevian warrior who hates human since Klevians, and human have been at war for thirty years. Varimar (H) is filled with rage at the creature they've put in the cell with him, but that all changes with just a touch. A touch that sends Varimar into a mating heat indicating Cara's his mate. Varimar do whatever it takes to get her to safety, from the Faradne and even his own people. There is so much action packed into this short novella, both the adventure type and the hot, intense sexy action too. This is a great prequel to the Klevian Warriors series, and you really need to read it before starting Tacori, Book 1, because Cara and Varimar's relationship is important to events in that book.
Varimar is a prequel novella to the Klevian Warriors series and should not be missed. This is a great set up and introduction to the series and I expect it to ramp up to be very exciting. There is great world building and interesting characters, adventure and the sexy, steamy aliens and their human mates that I always come to expect from a L P Peace book and I can’t wait to jump into the next one; Tacori!
