Rogue Officer is a very enjoyable book. I usually goes with Miss Stoker for military/ protector romance. I have to admit, I have been looking for another author. And Miss Eddy proves she can deliver. The suspense and action blends nicely with the romance.

Rogue Officer is a story between Sloane and Griffin. What I like about the characters are both are broken. Sloane has been dealing with sexual abuse, rape and human trafficking. While Griffin deals with losing limp and hearing after a military rescue gone wrong. Miss Eddy done a good job giving her characters layer to peel/ to growth. The sex scenes are not graphic but beautiful enough to see the chemistry between the characters.

Overall a very enjoyable read.

Did we read the same book?

## DISAPPOINTED. I don't like reading about torture, rape, and human trafficking. This heroine is a heroin addict and has been "used" by hundreds of men and we have to read about it? No thanks. She has so much plastic surgery that she's unrecognizable and even wears blue contacts. Nothing about her is real. She constantly popping pills which seems to be a trend with Eddy's heroines. Another thing that bothered me was the fact that the hero & heroine didn't meet until 34% into the story. I almost gave up and now I wish I had. Sorry, I can't recommend this one.

Dropped - Read to Chapter 17, Skimmed to 23 & End

I know, I know, you're wondering why I even bothered trying to read this book after the first fiasco. Well, I just wanted to know what happened to Griff. I now have closure, so that's it.

Sadly, I think that this author is just an all-around no go for me. I do like her writing, but I can't stand her heroines and forced drama/action. The women claim to be "strong and independent", yet manage to only be weepy, helpless, and irrational. Having a career and home is what I call adulting, not strong and independent. Most people do it regardless of gender. The author also has them freak out anytime the H carries a weapon. I mean, what else are they supposed to protect themselves with? Pepper spray/tasers vs guns. Yeah, their delusional...

Making choices where you willing put yourself in harms way when you don't have to is what I consider forced rather than natural action. The mfc's life and others are in danger, but they just have to go to work. I'd really like to meet a civilian/avg person who would actually make that choice in real life. The author seems to have a real fetish for heroines eventually being captured by the baddies then being rescued by the hero just in the nick of time while almost dying in the process, but it's all okay because the couples now openly love each other. Gag, even that's too fake, silly, ridiculous for me. I want a HEA, but not like that.

Update after Audiobook:

I'm usually drawn in by the male narrators for Eddy's book, and while Sebastian York did a fantastic job bringing Griff to life... Lidia Dornet was an absolute goddess with Sloane's accent and inner fire. Both actors had an incredible way of bringing the raw emotion of these characters to life, and it made an already addictive read that much more enjoyable.

Original Review:

There are several authors whose books I look forward to reading once I see them on the shelves. Then, there are a few very special authors whose books I preorder, countdown to, and completely lose myself in the second I can get my hands on those pages.

Patricia Eddy is one of those authors.

Not only have I loved every single book of hers I've read, regardless of its genre or subject matter, but I've almost always been ready for a reread the second I hit 'the end'. Her characters are flawed in so many real ways that, even if their specific ailment doesn't plague you personally, her writing pulls you in so you experience every challenge, every obstacle, every chance that character takes to overcome and survive.

I was surprised by how much I loved Griff and Sloane, by how well-suited they were for one another. Their balance, the rhythm they found while playing at a relationship until finally realizing the truth of their feelings... it was an absolutely addictive read. And the tension! Even scenes that worked out far better than my cynical and paranoid mind expected still had such tension built into them that I was at the edge of my seat.

(Also want to make a note in regards to what another viewer has stated about the heroine in the story being used by men, a heroin addict, etc - ALL of this happens off-page. It's simply a part of her past that's referred to, a past she has overcome and the basis for many of her decisions and lifestyle. There are no graphic depictions of any of that, despite how another reviewer makes this seem.)

I loved Rogue Officer, as I've loved every other book in both the Away From Keyboard series and this Gone Rogue series. If you're new to PDE's work, it's a fantastic standalone. If you've read the previous books, you'll welcome the glimpses of a few faces we've come to know. Highly recommend either way.

Though I did preorder this book last year, I was thrilled to get an advanced copy from the author so I could dive in early, and have left this honest review voluntarily.

Speechless. Laughing but speechless. Sorry, this book has brought on a dire case of speechlessness. I love Patricia Eddy's writing. She consistently delivers unique plots, unique characters, and she winds those two around a story arc that works for her every single time. I said once that I would take one of her books into a classroom and teach creative writing, but I hadn't read THIS book yet. This would be the one I'd take.

This is the very first time that I've laughed out loud to a book. Oh, I've laughed at Ryker when a kitten defeated him. I've laughed at Wren when she comes up with alternative words to swearing. I've also chuckled, smiled, and laughed to myself while reading Ms. Eddy's books, and books written by others too, but not one time have I sat with the Kindle on my lap and howled with laughter. I don't remember what the first laugh was from this book, but I can tell you where I caught the attention of everyone in the doctor's office (and this is a quiet, very quiet waiting room). McMuscles. McMuscles, that did it. If Patricia Eddy ever says she can't do comedy well, and that her timing isn't good, she needs to read her own book, because this one flat out deserves 20 stars for making me laugh.

Now, to the book. Griff and Sloan are actually a couple made for each other. Ms. Eddy has written their personalities so they can play off each other. Then her secondary characters play off the protagonists. By meshing them so tightly together, she creates a world where only these characters exist, then she pulls the reader into that world. The plot is interesting and kept my attention throughout. I found no spots where the plot slowed or was missing a detail.

All in all, since I've liked all of her books, I can't say this one was the best. BUT, I will tell you that with the addition of McMuscles, it has now become the one that I laugh about when I think of re-reading it. I think I've been McEddy'd.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "ROGUE OFFICER"
WOW!!!! Patricia D Eddy you blew this out of park such a great story from start to finish full of danger, action, violence, suspense, intrigue, steam, grief, loss, you can't put down til finished.
Griff Hargrove CIA elite officer get injured on a mission a terrorist attack taking half his arm & most of his hearing he's bitter, angry, doesn't know what he'll do.
Sophiana Lebdev came to US not knowing she be sex trafficked gets save by Max Snood who helps her get clean & become a model for "Beauty & Style a Multi-Million Dollar Print & Online Fashion Empire but to do so she wrnt through multiply surgery to change her looks & name up Sloane Sanders.
Griff is angry that his old boss Austin Pritchard ghosted him but he gets help from Dax Holloway from Second Sights Security & Protection Firm he's been through so much the team was great helping him recover.
Sloane needs help when someone from her past it after her that's when she meets Griff who accepts to protect her & keep her safe live these two together both have tortured pasts can they be what each other needs to get a HEA.
I definitely recommend to get this well written book so well worth the read it won't disappoint, so great having some of the characters from previous books take part in this on the edge of you seat story.

The second book in this Gone Rogue series the first been Austin Pritchard story and if you haven't read it then make sure you grab it and close ties to the Away from The Keyboard series which is my all time favourite series and whose characters always make cameo visits in Patricia books this is a book that will draw you in and keep you engaged until the last page. We have two extremely damaged people Griffin Hargrove seriously injures in a terrorist attack in Pakistan while saving Austin Pritchard's life he has lost his hearing and his left arm and no longer believes that he is worth anything in life No matter how much modern technology and he has the most cutting edge prosthetic he doesn't believe he has any real future especially as he thinks that Austin has ghosted him When Austin calls him wanting him to do a security job to protect a world class model Sloan Sanders from her past. A past no one knows but a past that makes her feel she is worth nothing Used as a sex slave when she was a young Russian woman she has hidden her past but now it has returned to haunt her. Can two people so damaged find a future together and realise that in fact together they make the perfect whole Once again Patricia characters live up to her motto of "Beautifully Broken"

Griff and Sloane what are whirlwind story they both go through just to find a bit of happiness. Every book and series by this author are always an adventure waiting to happen with some amazing characters that stick with you for days. Griff is suffering coming to terms with his new way of life, surviving, and what is next for him. He suffers from not only physical pain but trauma from the way he thinks he is and the way others perceive him. Sloane, she suffers such horrible tragedies and the fact she endures, survives, and finds a new life is beyond brave yet she still has concerns and is lost hiding her secrets. When Sloane is in trouble Griff is thrown into her life to protect her and although they are both broken, they can see the truth in each other that no one else can. Can Griff come to terms with the way things are now for him? Will Sloane always be hiding her truths? Will their fears and insecurities hinder chance of happiness that they may have in this lifetime? Or will two broken souls fight and help mend each other? This story was tragic and yes has some serious triggers but the beauty in it surpasses the darkness.

Rogue Officer
Gone Rogue #2
by Patricia D. Eddy
Narrated by Sebastian York, Lidia Dornet

No one wries romantic suspense like Patricia D Eddy. Every book draws me in, captures my attention and wins my heart. Her heroes are realistic and each mission one impossible to forget. Griffin is home, broken and unsure of what his next move will be. Now offered a job to protect Sloane, he is wondering how deaf and with one arm he will be able to protect her. Sloane is being stalked by the man she escaped from human trafficking. For the firs time in 15 years, she feels safe with Griff. These two are perfectly suited.for each other.Eddy crafts her story with compassion and bravery. It's a slow burn and one so worth the wait! I loved every minute of these two, and honestly hope there is more coming soon!

Sebastian York and Lidia Dornet are so good together. York plays the broken, emotonally damaged Griffin and lets him evolve and grow. Dornet proves how a woman can find her strength and become the woman she should be. Each emotional tug by these two brought the story alive. I enjoyed their perfomance together as always.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Oh my. Griff and Sloane couldn't be more different from one another, but that's exactly the reason the both of them are perfect for each other. Though Griff isn't quite convinced he'd be the right one for the job - protecting Sloane from a thread of her past - he's very fast drawn to her openness and strength. Being physically and mentally broken since his last op, that's exactly what he needs, while keeping her save and Fällung head over heals. It's always a pleasure to read Patricia's books, cause you just know, it's gonna be epic. A huge bonus is that many former characters have a part in this book as well, so you get a look back how Rip, Dax, Wren... are doing and you even get a glimpse of what's to come (Rogue Survivior). Think this story turned out wonderful, though Griff's been stubborn to the author not wanting his story to be told. So glad, she finally got him to talk to her...

Patricia does it again, I don’t know how her books just get better and better (and they were brilliant from the start!). The great part of this is how you don’t see the characters limitations all you can see is how they overcome them and focus on what they can do and not what they can’t. Griff had been through so much and I was expecting him to be hard and bitter. He wasn’t he was so strong, kind and 100% an alpha protector. Loved seeing Dax in this book, him and the team were amazing at helping Griff. My heart felt for Sloane too and what she had been through, she was tough when needed but also so caring and loving to Griff. They made such a perfect couple. I so hope we get to read more of them in future stories. Thanks again for a great book, I read this in 2 days and just wanted to keep on reading!

I am a huge fan of Patricia Eddy's. I love all of her books but I have to say this one is now my favorite. I loved that the characters were "beautiful broken" and that in order to heal they needed to find the one person that would truly "see" them. Sloan's past as a victim of human trafficking is heartbreaking. Some of the scenes were raw, gritty and stark. Griff has to figure out how to deal with his injuries and how he sees himself as a man and protector. Their romance, the way they heal one another is beautiful and touching. The bad guy is the stuff of nightmares and the tension kept rising as I waited for him to make his move. Rogue Officer is another shining example of Patricia's storytelling and how well she crafts her characters.

Frankly, if I could have given this book more than 5 stars, I would have done so. Griff’s story, from the explosion that cost him his hearing and arm to the closing pages and resolution, is one that makes the reader think deeply about the things they rely on and the assumptions they make. And, with her past and her courage, Sloane is perfectly matched. This is a book that is richer if you’ve read Patricia Eddy’s other work (Dax is here, for example), but it’s a complete standalone as well. The pure evil of the man chasing Sloane, the courage she shows every day, the strength of character Griff displays – this book is gripping, the characters are real in a way many authors’ aren’t, and there is a sense of loss when you get to the end.

How does this author continuously put out books that one is better than the next. There isn’t one of her books that I haven’t loved and after each read, say this is my new favorite. She creates worlds and stories that are relatable, vivid, intense, emotional and soul wrenching. You can’t help but become immersed in the lives and characters she has crafted. Sloane and Griff are no exception. They are two people that believe they are broken and are of no use to anyone. Until, they meet each other. They are two fractured souls that totally compliment each with driven emotion and intense need that makes there story a must read. Their story is delivered with such alluring appeal and such vivid detail that I became lost in their world and enjoyed every single second of it.

Audio version: I really enjoyed the audio version of "Rogue Officier" read by Sebastian York and Lidia Dorne. Between the two of them they made the book come alive!

Holy library of Alexandria what a book! Loved the relationship between Sloane and Griff. PDE managed to perfectly write a story that wove their two "broken identities together. What is so special about the books written about by PDE is that she researches her subjects so well that you feel that most of the jagged angles of her characters are fully covered. From the nitty gritty of the sex trafficking underground to loss of a limb and adjusting to having a prothesis to profound deafness.

Patricia D Eddy's Away From The Keyboard series and it's spinoff Gone Rogue are favorites of mine. Incredible characters and emotionally charged stories filled with fast paced action and nail biting suspense make these books a cut above. Rogue Officer fills that bill on all counts. Ms Eddy
does a stellar job of exploring the raw emotions that both Griff and Sloane are plagued with: anger, frustration, shame, guilt and fear to name a few. But even more telling is the acceptance of one another for who they are, warts and all. That acceptance eases their emotional pain and allows them to act on the feelings that quickly develop between them.

All I can say is WOW - this book deserves so much more than 5 stars!! Patricia D. Eddy brings two broken souls together and within the pages of the story pieces are put together and pasts are no longer something that will define them. The reader will instantly fall in love with Griff and Sloane as they are introduced into the story but it is the plot that includes edge of your seat drama that will keep the pages turning. Patricia D. Eddy proves once again why her reader absolutely love her work and wait with bated breath until her new releases are ready.

Feelings... deep, overwhelming, enveloping you in a soft cloud of emotions. This is how I describe this incredible story of resilience, strength, love. Every single book Patricia writes is unique in so many ways and every time she manages to surprise me with deep characters that you immediately fall in love with. Because they are real, they are broken and oh so beautiful.

Rogue Officer
A Gone Rogue Romantic Suspense Standalone
Gone Rogue #2
by Patricia D. Eddy
Narrated by Sebastian York, Lidia Dornet

Patricia D. Eddy pens another fabulously thrilling and exciting romantic suspense, the story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it for the entire book. The characters are realistic, relatable, easy to connect with and care about. I adored the two lead characters, each broken and struggling with their own inner demons. Griffin “Griff” Hargrove suffered life altering injuries after a terrorist attack while on a mission with the CIA. Back in the states he is trying to cope with his hearing loss and his new prosthetic arm and hand, he also has anger issues especially with his former boss, Major General Austin Pritchard, the one he served with and who was with him during the attack. So it surprised him when he called, first to direct him to see Dax Holloway at Second Site, and then again to offer him a job. Sloane Sanders was able to escape her prison and life of hell, given a new identity and new looks she has gone on to be a successful model. Her former life left her scarred and it is hard to get past all the atrocities that were done to her. Then the unthinkable happens, her past comes back to get her, luckily her friend has a connection with security and she calls in a favor. That favor brings Griff into her life, armed with Dax’s new technology he is assigned to protect her. He was skeptical at first but his training and instincts make up for his lack of hearing, as well as the new tech Dax provided him with. I just loved how everything played out in this book, the story is brilliantly plotted and there is never a dull moment. There is plenty of drama, action, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and a wonderful romance. This is an amazing story and I am loving this series, which is a spin off from the “Away From the Keyboard” series, which is just as amazing and one I can not recommend enough, I love the characters, the camaraderie amongst them and the world Ms. Eddy created, I would never get enough of them. Thank you for another exceptional novel!

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Sebastian York and Lidia Dornet are the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that suited their character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable in every role they played and just as I pictured the characters to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance. These entertaining storytellers are mega talented and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fantastic listen.

i absolutely love this author and her many series was so excited to hear Grifs story. the topics in this plotline are cringeworthy, gut wrenching and sad but Patricia does it with a delicate justice.
there is steam, angst, romance and Insta love. but it's part of patricias style so if your this far into her books, you'll love it.
there are so many different genres that she writes and I have listened to but her "away from the keyboard series" and now "rogue " series, in my opinion are the best.
Sebastian York.. my all time fave and Lidia, couldn't have better narrator's they were brilliant...bring on some more I say...

Patricia Eddy is just one of those authors I follow and know I will enjoy no matter what genre she writes. I never have to suspend disbelief because I know how much time and effort she puts into researching her beautifully flawed characters. The topics are often difficult with potential triggers, so be cautious if you are easily triggered. That being said, I have loved every one of her books!

From the very beginning I was swept up in the devastation and loss experienced by Griff and Sloane. This goes a long way to building the foundation for the fierceness and will to survive whatever life throws at them. Patricia devotes herself to researching the life of her characters realistically with absolute devotion to truth. He will protect her and she will remind him how powerful he is. This story is a thrill ride, so buckle up.

The narration by Sebastian York and Lidia Dornet is perfect for these characters. Patricia really pays attention casting the right talent for her characters, which shows in this book!

I received an #AdvancedListenerCopy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is the second book in the Gone Rogue Series, a military romance. Wow!!! I loved it! Griff and Sloane's story is breathtakingly suspenseful, emotional, and captivating. The characters are complex, and wonderful. The story has suspense, twists and turns, and action. Impossible to stop listening. Sebastian York and Lidia Dornet did an excellent job with the narration. They are perfect as Griff and Sloane. If you like military romance, this one is definitely for you. I highly recommend it. Patricia Eddy is one of my favorite authors of romantic suspense / military romance. Also, I highly recommend her Away from Keyboard Series. Believe me, she never disappoints! Looking forward to listening to Rogue Survivor, the next book in the Series.

Patricia never fails to pull me out of my comfort zone and make me feel so much! This series is gritty, raw and real and this book is no exception.

Sloane is a tortured soul who has gone through so much its a wonder she didn't just give up.. however.. that's the most beautiful part of this heroine.. her will to live!
Griffin is a warn torn hero who has gone almost completely deaf and lost an arm due to a bombing. As damaged and disconnected as he is, he's still able to be Sloane 's rock!
I also thoroughly enjoyed her BFF, Marina, who is really her only friend.

**Trigger warnings for this book shouldn't be ignored. There are several, but if you have read Patricia before you'll know there's always hard topics to deal with before you get the HEA!

I was able to read and listened to this book.
Sebastian York NEVER disappoints and I'm so glad he's narrated this series and this book with Lidia Dornet. His voice is perfect for the gritty and gruff heroes she writes.

Overall Grade: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’ve been sitting on this review for too long. Life has been crazy, so finding the space to sit and tell you WHY you should be reading Patricia D. Eddy, specifically her newest offering, Rogue Officer, has been difficult, but it’s necessary.

For me, Eddy’s brand of romantic suspense engages you seamlessly into a tale of danger. In her earlier series, Away From Keyboard, those dangers seem grounded in former military experiences. In her newest series, Gone Rogue, the heroes are fighting against threats to their heroines. You find swoony heroes with Eddy’s brand of brokenness. As the hero protects his heroine, he finds completion by falling deeply in love with her and finding his soulmate.

Add to that Eddy’s eponymous message about constructed families protecting their own. In each book, the relationships grown through adversity show the power of community to overcome troubles.

Eddy’s newest story, Rogue Officer, offers up more of this. Her hero, Griff is eight months out from a catastrophic physical challenge, and he’s trying to find his way in this new world. His friend, Austin, calls on him to protect the heroine of this story, Sloane. Sloane is hiding her identity in plain sight, but her past has come to undermine her life. When those troubles threaten her life, Austin asks Griff to protect her. In doing so, these two are attracted to each other and seem to “see” each other in a way that others don’t. As Sloane’s life becomes more endangered, Griff must fight his limitations to save her.

Surprisingly, Rogue Officer has quite the insta-love trope. Eddy has done this before, but in more recent books, there seems to be a prolonged journey into the love relationship. Griff and Sloane know fairly quickly that they are soulmates. While it takes them a bit to admit it, they banter phrases like “she’s the one for me” or “I’ll want him for the rest of my life” easily. That’s my only criticism of Eddy’s story as it’s my least favorite trope. But that has more to do with me than Eddy’s capacity to write her story.

Eddy is a powerhouse at writing romantic suspense while infusing them with interesting characters undercut by limitations. Griff and Sloane’s challenges are physical, mental, and emotional, and they are not your usual romance fare. It’s clear that Eddy’s careful in sensitively writing about their personal inflictions. In fact, if you had to use one word to explain her writing, it would be “care.” It’s clear that she’s thoughtful, purposeful, and intentional in her storytelling. And this creates stories such as Rogue Officer that leave you quickly turning the page to get to the next part of the story.

If you love insta-love, romantic suspense with a broody, broken hero who falls deeply in love with a heroine who is also broken by her past traumas, then you will LOVE Rogue Officer by Patricia Eddy.

Exciting and thrilling story!

Sloane and Griff’s whirlwind journey is rife with suspense, drama, danger, passion and love. It’s an emotional story that will pull on your heartstrings and keep you riveted to your seat hoping that everyone gets their happy ever after. The intensity of the story had me holding my breath and the suspense had me biting my nails.

The connection between Griff and Sloane was instant and you could feel the pull they towards one another right from their very first interaction. I loved how these two are so accepting of each others flaws and imperfections. They see and accept the real person behind it all. These two wonderful characters had me laughing, crying and gushing with love.

Truly a beautiful love story of two broken souls that find a second chance at life and love.

Brilliant.

When Griff saved his former CIA team-mate Austin's life, leaving Griff to recover physically and mentally on his own from debilitating injuries, for many months, he didn't expect to hear from him again. His anger when he showed up at his door was justified, but from that moment the unexpected meeting changed his life completely. The Authors research as always with her 'Away from the Keyboard' character's is flawless and as with Dax her insight into how it affects them mentally as well as physically is brilliant and done sensitively. Griff and Saloane are a perfect match, their stories take us on a ride that will be hard to match, but it will be and I can't wait for the next one.
