Tank, the N*gga you love to hate. He has always been a small-time dealer with dreams of being on top. Always finessing his way through women’s pockets. He always wanted to be the man but didn’t want to work for it. He used women but finally ran into his match. He would do anything to get there, even if it meant pretending to love Sweetie, the daughter of a boss who inherited her spot at the top. Tank is living the life of his dreams until he meets Takara, the woman of his dreams. He can’t shake his hood ways; once a bum, always a bum. He puts everyone in jeopardy around him, including his family who feels the wrath. Tank has to make a follow his heart and run away with Takara, or stay with his wife, the women he doesn’t love and barely even likes. Money can’t buy happiness. He can’t pay his way out of the trouble he caused. Does he love her, or does he simply love what she does for him? What are the true consequences of life when you have nothing but good looks and a slick tongue when you're Vibin’ Wit’ Detroit Boss?
I struggled reading this because it felt rushed. There was so much going on at one time that you really couldn't enjoy the story because it was hopping from scene to scene. Sometimes people think money will solve all their problems but when you don't have a good heart and greed is your motivation. There's more problems that is attached to money. There wasn't a loyal character in this story except for Dee Dee and she was drunk majority of the time because of her own demons she was battling. Tank got exactly what he was looking for. He thought using people to get money was going to get him ahead. He also thought he hit the jackpot with Sweetie. Sweetie was a master manipulator. Everyone around her was a pawn. Marnay was confused but she was more like her brother Tank than she realized. Snoop was a disrespectful and abusive creep. I was disgusted at what he did to Marnay. I don't know if I should feel sorry for Takara or not. Dealing with Snoop and Sweetie. Her life was basically in their hands. I definitely didn't like how she ran out on her child. Nobody can be trusted because each and every last one of them had their own hidden agenda.
Whew! Alot of back and forth with these characters. I just couldn't catch Sweetie's drift in it all. I got she had money and was maintaining what her dad left behind but good Lord, she was burning bridges left and right. Then Tank stupid self hadn't learn a darn thing. The money almost killed him and yet he still went after it. Snoop sea wrong man! He done raped Marnay and now she caught up. Not only that, Tajara their sister and I can almost bet she pregnant by Tank. This gone be bad all around
This book had so much going on w these characters, I couldn't enjoy the storyline. But I enjoy it, cause it was full of drama, lies, secrets and deceit. Sweetie, used everyone around her as a pawn in her game. They all had their own agenda and no loyalty.
This is a new to me author. She most definitely had me like wow. These characters played mind games. These characters also made you understand money can’t buy you happiness and what’s done on the dark will come to the light. She did a great job
