A kidnapper strikes again, but his evil ties to a killer reveal a dangerous threat. After a shocking investigation ends, Detectives Daniels and Remalla are back at work, but their routine is shattered when a child goes missing, and they rush to find a young boy and the man who kidnapped him. But all is not what it seems when they discover the kidnapper’s connection with their previous case and a killer now behind bars.
When Daniels becomes a target and Remalla is plagued by the past, they must trust their instincts to find a killer and protect an innocent victim. But when Daniels’ family is threatened, Daniels must choose between following the law, or breaking it.
As the killer reveals his true nature, strange abilities, and mysterious hidden ties to an evil past, Daniels and Remalla are forced to confront their own oaths as officers and moral compass in order to defeat a man capable of destroying… both body and bone.
Of Body and Bone is book two in the Detectives Daniels and Remalla Series. It closely follows and should be read after Of Breath and Blood.

Award-winning author, J.T. Bishop, is a writer of mystery thrillers with a supernatural edge. Growing up, she read books by Stephen King, Mary Higgins Clark, and Dean Koontz, devoured every episode of The X-files, and watched plenty of TV shows with great partnerships that left her wanting more. She loves tangled relationships, unexpected twists and turns, heart-stopping love stories and the complications that come with all the above. Throw in a little supernatural fun and she’s hooked. Her evil plan is to hook you, too.
She’s the author of The Red-Line Trilogy and its sister series, The Fletcher Family Saga, which features touches of urban fantasy, light sci-fi, and paranormal romance. She’s also happily writing mystery thrillers featuring two charismatic detectives who may occasionally encounter a supernatural villain or two, and a crossover series which follows the exploits of a gifted, but troubled, paranormal P.I. and his spunky sister.
All the above keeps her busy, but in her spare time, she loves a good movie, tasty food, an unfortunate sugar addiction, and traveling.

Rem and Daniel are involved in the investigation of a murder and kidnapping of a young boy. It is full of action and misdirection leading to the conclusion.
I would recommend this series and author to readers of romantic family and friends relationship adventure mystery novels 🤗😆 2025 😊😎
"Of Body and Bone -- Suffer the Light," book 3 in the "Detectives Daniels and Remalla Series," picks up right where we left off. Once again, a killer with 'abilities' is back, two detectives find their lives and those of their family and friends threatened, a young boy's father was murdered in front of him, and then the boy is kidnapped. But to what end? What is so special about 11-year-old Josh?
I have to admit, I started book 1 of "The Family or Foe Saga," where I was first introduced to Daniels and Remalla, less than five weeks ago, and I haven't been able to stop reading since. It's like a Netflix binge. The two series so far consist of four books each. What makes them intriguing to me is that they are character and dialogue-driven stories, which are my favorite. Author J.T. Bishop has done a wonderful job in creating characters the reader can care about. Characters that deal with demons, PTSD, terror, and who no matter what, never give up on each other or protecting their loved ones. It's the Buddy System at its best.
I'm excited to read what may be the final installment in this series and yet, dreading it, too. I don't want it to end. But Ms. Bishop is a sly one, as she has intertwined additional characters with their own series and where the reader can still find Daniels and Remalla. I made a joke when I finished the first group of four I was going to have to empty a shelf in my library to house all her books. Now, as I'm nearing the end of the second series, it's no joke. It's a thrilling, exciting, frightening, and at times tragic ride. And I love every minute of it!
This is another fantastic detective story. These two detectives have to solve a mystery regarding a missing boy. You’re completely gripped from beginning to the end. Definitely a binge worthy book.
After recuperating from what happened in the previous book, Rem and Daniels are on their way to work when Rem stops for gas and Daniels goes inside the story. Daniels radar lights up when he sees a young boy and an older man. As Daniels goes to confront them, Rem comes in and says they need to go to a scene, a murder. It turns out that the murder victim was the young boy's father and the other person was a kidnapper. Rem and Daniels now began searching for Josh, the boy, and Rudy, the kidnapper. Clues come into the ttip line and a couple lead the duo to eventually catch up with Josh and Rudy. They finally find Josh and that only leaves Rudy now who has threatened both of them. It finally comes to a confrontation where Rudy goes to Rem's house and threatens him, luckily Daniels saves the day.
Things should get back to normal now, but Rem gets a message that Allison wants to see him. Rem goes to the prison to talk to Allison and she drops a bombshell.
To discover how Rudy fits into the picture, what was unique to Rudy, what bombshell dropped and how everything worked out in the end, then you need to read this book.
Body and Bone is book three in the Detectives Daniels and Remalla Series. It closely follows and should be read after Of Breath and Blood. Body and Bone is an incredible book written by JT Bishop! This book drew me in from the very first page and I admit I had a very difficult time putting it down. The plot was very well developed and had a paranormal twists hidden within the pages. This is a gifted author and I am impressed with her skills. I have read all the novels in order and cannot tell how hooked I am with this series. I am out to find the next novel in the series. I also posted on Amazon and will forward it when I receive the approved review.
Shadows and Secrets A Detectives Daniels and Remalla Omnibus Collection Books 1-3 Source: The author; Individual stories, my Kindle library.
Haunted River, #1 - Interesting and intriguing story lines. Good characters. A bit of ghosts and nightmares. Humor. The last chapter sets up the next book. 4*
Of Breath and Blood, #2 - Starts about a month after HR ends. Intense. Dark. More self-discoveries that border paranormal. 5*
Of Body and Bone, #3 - Picks up three months after OBAB. More paranormal experiences. Interesting. Sadly, ends short, must continue on to find out what happens after the bombshell. 4*
This book had me sitting on the edge of my chair every time I picked up where I had left off a few hours earlier. Thank goodness Rem and Daniels have each other to lean on. This book brings a whole new meaning to "Could never be." Things do.go.bump in the dark. Monsters are in the closet. A person can carry electricity inside themselves. Brilliantly written. Characters pull you in to story. I am on to the next. Enjoy.
Rem and Daniels are investigating a kidnapping and murders perpetrated by a man with a superpower trying to create more like him and are helped by dreams and people who have visions of the future. It's a good thing Rudy has a weakness and that there are two of them supporting each other or it would all be over for them. There's still a question of Ginger at the end and Rem is left in a quandary by his visit to prison. Good story exploring the realms of supernatural just a little bit.
This follows the series of two detectives who have the unfortunate appeal of being assigned absurd police cases . The supernatural events seems to again be the theme of the novel. Sounds zany but JT Bishop has a skill of writing a believable story. I enjoy the characters. Easy fast fun read
A good read. Great characters even the crazy ones. Can Rem & Daniels find the young boy that has been kidnapped before it is too late? Will Rem ever find peace with what happened to him? As the past isn't about to let him go without him suffering some more. Will they be stronger together to be able to stop what is coming?
I enjoyed the mystery and suspense. Daniels and Remalla have a great relationship. However, I’m not crazy about cliffhangers. The story is compelling enough for me to get the next in the series. I hope there is a conclusion.
I've enjoyed other books in this series but this one was slow moving and boring. There was no excitement as the story drags on. Makes little sense if you haven't read the others. Did not like.
I was willing to overlook the novel method one of the villains used to kill his victims, but ending the story when she did was very frustrating and seemed like an obvious ploy to get readers to buy her next book-- which I won't.
A fast-paced crime fiction with interesting plot twists. Was slightly disappointed with the ending. It encourages readers to buy a novella for plot conclusion.
I love reading about these guys. They are like a modern day, Starsky and Hutch. Fast moving, packed full of twists and turns, they face danger head on on a daily basis. I could read about them and their cases all day long. A most excellent story. A must read.
Daniels Ramella are a great team. Fighting against the evil of the world. I loved how Remella used his past trauma to help the little boy, who had been kidnapped, by sharing his fears. Great read. You won't be disappointed.
The story has lots of twists and turns with an unusual ending. Setting the reader up for another continuing book. There's some paranormal tossed in this story.
I'm not sure about how all the characters were supposed to meld together but they were confusing to me. The ending made no sense and was a poor way to make you but the next book.
Of Body and Bone (Book Three in the Detectives Daniels and Remalla Series), my third read from author J.T. Bishop. Well-written & enjoyable mystery read. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I'll definitely be reading more from this author and look forward to the next book in the series. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Not much of the lighthearted banter between the two detectives as there have been in the first two books. This installment was full of some serious paranormal characters. At this point I certainly would not want to change places with either one of these detectives. My only disappointment in this book is the way it ended and knowing all of us who are reading this series will have to wait until December to see where the story goes. It really is an edge-of-your-seat read.
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
A dramatic highly energized mystery of kidnapping, murder, malice, manipulation and emotional destruction. J.T.Bishop is a high octane writer and hasn't disappointed her fans with this well written dramatic mystery. Filled with vibrant characters and mind blowing twists and turns with a deadly plot. Acquire " Of Body and Bone " and become enthralled and spellbound through its turmoil. Kat
