Prepare yourself for a tour through the dark! Inspired by the classic Victorian Penny Dreadfuls, this collection of horror shorts and oddities from award-winning author S. Faxon takes you through cursed orchards, opium-stoked alleyways, haunted houses, and to the high-seas.
With some of these stories based on real-life paranormal encounters, this book is a must-read for those who love the fanciful and unexplainable!

I have always loved anthologies because short stories are a perfect way to tell how effective an author is. There are a limited number of pages to get the mixture of setting, character and plot just right. Here, we have an anthology of tiny dreadfuls, very short stories that are just perfection.
Every story packs a punch, this is very good story-telling, and for fans of dark fantasy, horror or the paranormal, you'll want to add this to your collection. The first story, The Stowaway, was one of my favorites. Beneath the Nightstand, the one that got to me the most and from now until the end of time, I'll be forever looking behind every piece of furniture in hotels I stay in.
I absolutely will be reading more from this author in the future!
A strong collection of short stories- with bite! I enjoyed Faxon's blend of genres. This book contains tales of horror, dark fantasy, and non-fiction, as well as a spooky poem.
My favorite stories were "Beneath the Nightstand" and "The Kingdom of Clouds."
"Beneath the Nightstand" is a non-fiction piece about an encounter with bugs. Faxon very creatively describes the creepy-crawlies and spins a memorable yarn.
"The Kingdom of Clouds" offers a fantastical reason for our four seasons. Extremely imaginative stuff!
Good short stories with one that was worthy of an expanded version. Spooked to the point of having to put it down and take a break from it. Finished it the next day and was not disappointed.
I love collection books of short stories, and TINY DREADFULS by S. Faxon fits the bill. First, these stories are DARK. They’re true horror, crossing the gambit of hauntings, murder, demon possession, and insanity. But they’re well-written short stories, too, which combined with their chilling plots, make for very “dreadful” terrifying tales, indeed! Recommended for fans of written terror. Looking forward to reading LOST ABOARD: TALES OF THE SPIRITS ON STAR OF INDIA next.
A diverse collection of spooky tales, great for a Halloween read. I especially liked the mix of supernatural stories inspired by real happenings. The variety of styles and themes in this collection made it a fast read!
