I’m getting tired of dead bodies showing up every time I turn around.One—ew. And two—I’m so not qualified for this.
I mean, this was supposed to be a magical drug bust. Easy peasy.
But with my plucking luck, I walk right in and stumble over a dead body.
This body belongs to a dealer who was worse than most. She took advantage of mixed breed shifters who were more powerful than they realized; she stole magic and got on the bad side of my favorite dragon.
Bennett’s raging and I need to solve this case before he goes off the deep end.
A rookie against dealers and addicts is not good odds.
But it gets worse.
Because the killer knows how to hex.
Hexing uses magical equations to do the dirty work … and I hate math … well, math and murder.
Just to be sure I checked Lyon's letter at the end of the book yesterday. For some reason I was convinced that this was the last book in the series, but all of a sudden I realized that very likely due to a lack of Amazon reviews the series simply never continued beyond this book. It's not a really big deal. After all, the cases are all stand-alones, but it's a pity. Yes, the first book was a little overwhelming, but with every book I started loving this world more and more.
More than the previous three books I had the impression that this book truly was about the characters, about Lyon, about Flower, about Ben, about Luke. Yes, there was a case they had to solve, but due to the case a lot of their own questions were answered too and I liked how everything from the previous books that wasn't answered yet kinda clicked in this book. It's a pity that we might never read how Lyon's mother reacts to all this.
Due to the case and due to some personal mistakes we also learn a lot about Lyon's magic, how it works and how it can be undone. I quite liked how we were actually really shown the consequences of her words, sometimes used so carelessly. I also quite liked how Lyon had to face that sometimes her not so useless magic skill might actually harm people. Lyon has been growing since the beginning of the series, but she makes some big steps in this one.
I have to admit that at times the case was a little disgusting. I usually have a strong stomach and hardly any triggers, but while reading this book I had a few issues. It seems that my stomach does great until we're gonna play with said stomach in the story itself. However, I do think that showing us this part of the city, the people living in this part of the city and depending on it, really adds to the world. I so hope that one day there will be more!
Lyon Fox, fae and academy trainee, is charmingly awkward and klutzy as well as hilarious. Situations around here tend to spiral into chaos and this novel is no different, though more hijinks this time around her boss Detective Flores the Tiger shifter, her beau Luke, her ex beau Bennett.
There is a lot of involvement with work colleagues, supportive and verrrry colorful friends including the adorable Ms. Snow and Tabs who have a great deal to contribute(or interfere, depends on the day) while Lyon and team attempt to solve a strange murder Involving the bloods, the crypts and the trolls and an assorted cast of colorful magicals, with an unexpected villain in the end. The story provides hilarious entertainment, a well written novel and an absolutely worthwhile read
So I fell down the rabbit hole with this author with some of her other series and then found this earlier series of hers… I’m sad it isn’t finished but I love that her newer ones have branched into the polyamorous types because (fingers crossed) maybe this one has the potential to go there… there’s too much love between Ben and Luke and Ly not to. Plus she’s a mess and she needs them both, and they truly need her! Plus! She’s not through the academy yet! I want to see what becomes of everything! Please Denton! This has truly brought me so much joy where I had none!
The first two books in this series were cute, entertaining and fun. The third was okay but this fourth installment reads like ramblings with hints to a growing plot. I figured the book out as soon as they introduced the killer. What is the deal with her love life? One sec the dragon is the love of her live the next it the vampire she can mistakenly turn human. Im so over it.
I've got go back and individually review the books. This popped on my FB feed and the series is definitely worth it. We follow, Lyon (Ly-Ly) through her adventures of now police academy. Reminds me of Police Academy movie antics between Flowers and Ly-Ly. The dialogue is a hoot. The romance very much slow burn however it fits the MC. I cannot wait for the next series. This author definitely needs more exposure.
K so I don't wanna wait for the next book because I'm impatient so write it already lol. Great story this time around also yay I love this author so much I'm reading anything she writes cuz I'm a boss like that!
Read it for the laugh out loud goofy shenanigans, and interesting quirks that help solve crimes or for the mix of supernatural traits that give the world building a clever twist.
Ok so she seems a bit clueless and bumbles around at times, but she pulls it out of the bag where it counts! Really enjoying this series and can’t wait to read more!
I really enjoyed getting to know Lyon Fox and her quirky band of friends. This book continued with the humor and fun of the rest of the series. I’m so glad Flowers gets his “f’s” back! But what’s up with Bennet?!? Looking forward to the next installment
Talk about a mixture of characters. This book has lots of breeds to give you images you won't forget. The plot is great and I can't wait for the next book. I recommend this book to any who loves far characters.
I really enjoy the characters in this series. Lyon is too cool - I want to be just like her. Start with book 1 and you will be just as invested in finding out where her crazy life takes her as I am. Can't wait for book 5!
So I may or may not have spent the weekend reading all 4 books. They're an addicting, fun and comfortable read. I'm ready for book 5 and 6 now if you please author.
This fourth Fae'd Up book is full of surprises. The mystery continues, as do the adventures and romance, but you won't want to miss one sentence. Get reading!
Once again, ridiculous mishaps and a new murder mystery overshadows Lyon Fox's daily routine. In addition to the latest mayhem, Lyon's personal life continues to add to her stress. Events happen quickly in this fast-paced drama as more pieces of the mystery are revealed. The storyline of this narrative is very good. However, Lyon and the people she cares about along with the varied weird and fascinating supernatural beings make this story into the creative and entertaining book that it is. I absolutely love this series and I hope Lyon and her extended family live on in many more stories. Creative and Funny Stories!!!!!
Another great read. A great plot about a trainee detective who finds out she's part fae, part demon and the comedy of errors that is her life (both professional and home). The case is one of a new drug that enables shifters to sleep like a baby. Partly because they become one. A raid on a nap house throws up addicts, murder and a hidden dead body. Jars filled with bio fluids turn up and the dead, hidden body is a dragon throwing Bennett into a tail spin. Whilst her magic makes Flowers loose the letter 'f' and her blood test throws Luke off balance. Who is running the ring? Who is the murderer? Can they get her magic to work properly? Loved the struggles Flowers had talking and the way she gave Luke a catnip hand. Awesome characters but I must admit that i prefer Bennett to Luke as her other half.
Ann Denton has outdone herself with this one, seriously. I loved every single second of this book. I’m so in love with Flowers, too. I mean, how can one not love? It was amazing to watch Lyon growing into her powers and her relationship develop. Ann has proven to be a great storyteller, her attention to detail is like no other, the humor she adds to the stories is right on track and everything in it is absolutely mind blowing and amazing. I super recommend it.
I love the Lyon fox series so much. Lyon is such an hysterical character, the depth of the mysteries in the plot are amazing. I love reading this series and can’t wait for more
You want Lyon to be your best friend. She is quirky, witty, loving and hilarious! You really need to read the series in order to get the characters but it’s worth it, pinky promise
I really really am starting to question Ann’s mind. Why she has to tease me with the cliffhangers she does drives me crazy. I adore Lyon’s character. She makes me feel a little less like I’m crazy. Please read the first 3 books you won’t be disappointed.
I haven't ready a book that Ann Denton has written I haven't not liked if you need something funny and intriguing this doesnt let down and doesnt have that just more of the same vibe you can get with sequels. I can't wait for book five!
