This is another fun instalment in the Midwest cozy mystery series but can be read as a standalone mystery like all the others. The author always does a lot of homework and plotting before writing her stories and this shows in the cleverly crafted plots, she even came up with things I didn't know and I live in England. It is backed up by a nice group of friends and a mystery that had me guessing the wrong killer.
For Kat as a mystery writer taking a holiday in England and visiting where famous authors lived and worked is a dream come true. That is until Sam a popular employee and nephew of the owner of the pub where they are staying is murdered. His big dog didn't react to the murder and Kat believes that means not only did the owner and dog know the killer but it was someone they trusted. Will solving the murder ruin the holiday for Kat and her friends or knowing the killer got away? Kat can't enjoy the sites of the English countryside knowing that she might just be able to help catch a killer but will do so put her and her friends in harm's way? Or will the local police back her up?
I did like the narrator, I am just not sure about some of the English accents she used but that could just be me not recognising how others hear us speak.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request from audiobooksunleashed and have voluntarily left this review.

What a lovely trip to the English countryside these 4 friends took! The imagery was amazing-I almost felt like I was there!! All the woman had different places they wanted to see and they got to see all of them! Kat, who if you remember her from the other Midwest Cozies is an author. She really wanted to see where all these famous authors hung out and hoped she might get some inspiration.

They were staying at a hotel that was super friendly-some of the best service any of these women has ever experienced. The owner was really nice. His nephew ran the bar and was super helpful. So when the police came knocking to say that the nephew had been murdered--well Kat just had to offer her help! What bothered Kat the most was that his Belgian Malinois dog did not try to protect Sam (the nephew) from the killer.

She ends up helping the police and not only was the killer found--but a bad cop was also uncovered! Twists and turns galore--and you won't guess who killed Sam!

There is a lot of eating going on as the women go about the country side--my mouth was watering-and of course at the end of the novel-several of those tempting dishes will appear with their recipes!

This is book #10 in the series. I haven’t read all of the previous 9 but I’ve read most of them. I enjoy the main character Kat, her husband Blaine, her daughter, and their dog. In this book, Kat travels to England with three of her friends. This book is interesting in that the author tells about the area the ladies are visiting so as one is reading you get a tour of the area too.
Kat gets involved in solving a murder and her three friends help. The nephew of the pub/hotel owner gets killed while on the front porch of his home. Kat is puzzled b/c Sam has a Belgium Melanois who very protective and wonders how the killer did not provoke the dog. Kat does help solve the murder but it is the police sargeant who actually finds the murderer. The book ends with the four ladies leave the pub/hotel and continue on their travels.
This book is entertaining. It is a typical cozy mystery. It’s easy reading and the characters are engaging. Truthfully some of the early Midwest Cozy Mystery books had more mystery and a bit more excitement than this one.

Kat Denham and Three Friends Solve a Murder

Kat had in the past helped each of the three friends with whom she was going on a trip to the northeast of England. They started in Whitby to look into Bram Stoker's writing Dracula, Beatrice Potter's Lakes District and Peter Rabbit, and another author from the past. While there is very interesting description of their travels, the focus is primarily on the murder and their group's participation in the investigation and solution of the crime. Another great mystery by Mrs Harman.

This was book 10 in this easy reading cozy mystery series. Kat and her friends have stopped in NE England en route to the Seychelles on vacation. Shortly after arriving, a local pub employee they have befriended is found stabbed to death. With Kat’s experience she assists the local police in investigating this crime but soon ends up finding a link to another series of crimes in town. Leave it to Kat to help find the culprit, and a surprising one it was!

Interesting

Having visited the Whitby area several times, it was nice to read about places I recognised. However , it did read a bit like a travel blog at times rather than a mystery. The actual murder mystery and it's resolution was intriguing and creative. Enjoyable overall.

I really enjoyed this book! Kat and her friends are visiting England for a little vacation and to visit some places they are interested in. But then a pub employee is discovered murdered. Kat gets the chance to help out with the investigation. I loved the England location and the descriptions of the local area. I listened to the audiobook and the narration was enjoyable.

A fun read that made me want to visit this part of the UK. It just read like it was written in a hurry and needed better editing. For example, at one point the author describes the car that a character is driving and makes a point to say what brand it is. A few pages over she mentions that the character is driving a different brand of car.

Kat plus 3

Kat & her 3 friends go on vacation to Southeast England. The story is low key, slow but with a lot great tourist site information. They help in a murder that has a twisted plot. I enjoy when Kat is home but it was still a good read.

Overseas murder solved!

This was one of the best books I have read in some time. The assortment of friends, the setting in England. And the cast of characters made for furious reading this weekend. Surprise ending made so much sense also.

it’s all good!

What I really enjoy about Harman’s writing is “I know there will be a whole done it” I know it will be solved…. But how does she come up with sort of complicated patterns consistently and different!!
