They broke the bond.
But they didn’t break me.
Although they left me with a gaping hole in my chest, Kian, Malix, and Frost did me a favor when they shattered our bond and left me alone in the mountains.
For a moment there, I'd started to trust them. For a moment, I'd started to believe they could be changed—that I wouldn’t need to kill them to keep them from carrying out their dark mission. I'd started to believe there was something real between us.
Then they reminded me, in the most visceral way possible, that they’re heartless monsters. Creatures made of shadow who don’t understand what it means to care for anyone.
But when they betrayed me, all they did was even the playing field.
Because sometimes it takes a monster to fight a monster.
And I’m not sure I have a heart anymore either.
Untamed Mate is the second book in the Feral Shifters series, a reverse harem paranormal shifter romance. It contains cursing, violence, anti-hero alpha males, steamy sex, and a badass heroine who isn't afraid to get her hands dirty.
Callie Rose is a bestselling author who loves to write books that will grab you by the feels and not let go till the very last page. She loves twisty plots, tortured bad boys, strong FMCs, and redemption stories where that shit is *earned*.
What the hell was that?? I enjoyed the first book in this series, but talk about a let down.
The MCs let their mate get beaten up before them by another guy, and what fo they do? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. They also let her sleep naked all night outside in the cold. I'm sorry but this shit ain't it.
It was like the author took the "touch her and I'll kill you" trope and was like well wouldn’t it be fun if I turned the tables? Sorry, but no. I like my fictional men protective not wimps that couldn’t care less when their mate is getting hurt.
Although I gave the first book 3 stars, hoping against hope that the author had anything of value to carry the characters or plot through the multi-part series, I was thoroughly mistaken and this second book is a waste of time for anyone interested in reading anything other than plotless p•rn fantasies.
It turns out that the fmc, Amora, is incapable of successfully doing anything except sex. There is something truly funny about Amora talking all tough about how she is going to “save the world” from Kian, Malik, and Frost, then falling down, convulsing on the ground like she is having an epileptic seizure, as she thinks about how desperately she wants to have sex with them again. After the unambiguous betrayal of the last book, the author uses this book to drive the point home that there is literally nothing that Kian, Malik, or Frost can do that will convince Amora to prioritize her own self-respect over sex with men who take pleasure in abusing and humiliating her. In one scene, Kian helps his Alpha beat up Amora, then he drags her outside and holds her still so that his Alpha can shoot her point-blank in the head. Yet that still doesn’t convince Amora that these men do not give a single solitary f_c< about whether she lives or dies and she is in bed with Frost within hours of Kian participating in violently assaulting then attempting to murder her.
Welp..... I was generous in my review for book 1 of the series. Generous due to the fact it was so slow and did not get exciting until 60%. My expectation for book two had been to pick up where we left off with excitement and shockers. What I got was another slow start. I just can not continue at this point.
Sadly I think this will end up being a story that goes downhill as more books come out. I really enjoyed the previous book but then one started to get a little boring.
I was looking forward to this book, especially after that ending in the first. What will happen when they finally have to met after the betrayal. Honestly, it was a bit anticlimactic and frustrating. The fmc comes across as badass, which I loved, but, she caved so quickly it honestly was a joke. No making them beg (which for the record you 💯 would, especially after Kian holds her down so their Alpha can kill her. It baffles me why she kisses them, like, they were going to let you get murdered but yeah, okay, kiss the ones who were going to let it happen. Ugh. I hate lead characters when it comes making up and betrayal. She was weak. I cannot stand weak characters. The men come across as weak too if I'm being honest - no backbone, no fighting for her, even though they're meant to be these powerful group. They only fought when they absolutely had too, and that was literally only because of Frost. Such a disappointing book. Not sure I'll be continuing.
Yup! The second book was so much better! I love how the author added in different POV’s for the characters it helps me better understand things! What a Marvelous story that I don’t want to end!
Oh? And did I mention the heat and spice in this book? Phew!
Never thought I would be a fan of reverse harem books!
I love this author and I did enjoy this, but not enough to give it 4 ⭐ s. I think by the next book, I'll get a better opinion of the relationships and hopefully the personality of the guys; mostly Kian as the other two are not as obstinate. This was quite short and cut-off practically mid-sentence to end as a cliffhanger, which I wasn't thrilled about but ahh well.
Definitely preferred book one, was really looking forward to this book hoping it would be great as book 1 had so much potential but no. Too repetitive at times, would’ve preferred more focus on the plot. Will most likely continue as I do want to find out what happens, hopefully third time lucky 🤷🏻♀️
Book: Untamed Mate Read By: Ebook Author: Callie Rose Genre: Romance, Fantasy, Reverse Harem Recommend: Yes Spice:🌶️️🌶️️🌶️️ < b>Age recommendation: 18-30+ Years My feelings:
I loved this series. It's full of action and a good dose of smut. I love the main Mcs! They manage to pull you in without trying.
“We’re connected.” My voice is hard and flat, the truth spilling from my lips before I can stop it. “Because no matter what happens, I’m not letting you die.”
These boys keep wanting to eat the samples but not buy the product! She needs to cut them off! They are warming up to her, but they keep making it too damn hard!
“You’re right in one way,” I tell him softly. “The world is random. Chaotic. Brutal. That’s enough to make a person think nothing matters. But things can matter—people can matter—if you decide they do. If you give meaning to things and fight for what you believe in, then things do matter.”
Have read a few by Callie and I don't mind her Fantasy books, so far, so good!
“Every morning when you wake up, you make the conscious choice to be who you are. You can choose to do good—to be a functioning member of society who cares for others and lives to be a part of the common good. Or you can choose to let your burdens define you and take your anger and fear out on others through poor choices and bad decisions.”
Highly Recommend.

After Amora's mate rejected their mate bonds, Amora is more sure than ever to stop them from bringing the shadow realm to earth. She follows them back to their pack, and Amora finds out that once again, when she thought she had everything figured out, she hasn't, and her mates' alpha might be the one causing the witch's vision. Amora and her mates needs to take another decision now: whether to stay together or give one another up and destroy the world.
I felt like the characters were a little bit more 3D in this book, and less superficials. Amora's mates have been brainwashed since they were little, so there is a reason why they behave the way they do. I'm curious to see what they'll end up deciding.
Amora is on the trail of her guys, but she might have taken on more than she can handle. I want sure how the guys could redeem themselves after the ending of Rejected Mate - but I’m getting there. Kian still needs a little more groveling IMO. But I’m loving this series and can’t wait until book 3 is out, especially after that cliffy!
I was looking forward to this after the betrayal at the end of the first book. Unfortunately my hopes were dashed pretty quickly, and the build up amounted to sod all as the guys talked a good game about breaking their bonds and Amora vented her anger. Neither side was truly committed to their stance and I was getting frustrated waiting for this epic encounter, and when they finally met up, it was pretty meh. I really wanted to like this book, and I’m sure other readers will love it. It just wasn’t for me and because of that I won’t be continuing on with the series.
Callie Rose is the queen of sexual tension and angst when it comes to her book so I knew I was in trouble with her rejected mate reverse harem. I was right the first book in the Feral Shifter series, rejected mate was all of that but imagine my shock when things got a little brutal in Untamed Mate, the second book in the series. I loved it but damn at times this book killed me, the emotions were pure savage.
At the end of Rejected Mate Amora was brutally rejected in maybe one of the worst ways, however, she isn't letting the broken bond stop her from doing what she set out to do, to stop her mates from bringing about the end of the world. Amora gathers herself, got the supplies she needs to track her mates. The fact that she didn't let a destroyed mate bond cripple her was something else but it was also the fact that she mostly acknowledged her feelings. She let herself feel sadness, betrayal, devastation, loneliness, anger, and more, while she didn't understand some of it and may have been in slight denial about other feelings she still was dealing with her emotions instead of locking everything away and ignoring it. That type of insight takes an emotionally strong person, not that many people are willing to face pain like that.
I hated Kian, Frost, and Malix after what they did to Amora, there was no way I could excuse what they had done and while I know that they were different, had a slightly harder life it didn't excuse them of their cruelty to Amora and their willingness to open the veil and bring destruction to Earth. However things change, more about Kian, Frost, and Malix was revealed. Why they were created, how they get along with their pack, how the alpha Quinton really is, and what happened in their childhood all gave me a better look into who they are and how they got to be the way they are. I find myself leaning more towards not necessarily forgiveness but I'm letting it go. I love seeing a different side to Frost especially, the shifter is normally so stoic that I can't even gleam what he is thinking, another reason to love the chapters from the guys' povs.
The story was filled with a lot of hurt feelings, tension, and misunderstanding due to lack of communication. After a lot of snark, attitude, and punches thrown things do seem to settle into a truce with Amora and the guys. This book was a lot about the guys and rebuilding what they destroyed with Amora. I am glad for the turn of events but I think they still have a way to go especially with Kian still acting like a grump. More about the shadow world, the shadows, and the power that Quinton got his hands on was revealed. I have questions, like how exactly is Quinton able to have any kind of control over this power? How did he learn to use it? What exactly is he planning after the rift opens? So many questions especially after one incident with Amora, I have a major question about that one and then there are the dreams she's been having which I don't think are just dreams but something more.
In Untamed Mate, Amora was a force to be reckoned with and her "mates" just had a lesson that needed teaching. However, now that things are somewhat settled there looks like Amora jumped out of the pan into the fire. It's obvious that stopping the rift from being opened isn't going to be as easy as destroying her mates. Other players are involved, the unknown factors like the powers of the shadows are factored in, not to mention when witches' prophecies get added to the mix everything gets a lot more complicated. Things end looking not so good, I don't know how many books are in the series but the next book is Cursed Mate and I'm looking forward to it.
I’m still not sure how I feel about this series. I enjoy it enough to keep going but I keeps having this moments of disappointment. Moments where I wish the reactions were different, that the pace was faster, where there was more information and less character development. But at the same time that leaves me wanting to know what’s next. And of course I’m attached to Frost enough at this point where I have to see it through. I have to know he’s been ok. I guess that at least makes the writing good, even if the story isn’t as enjoyable.
Book two, how dare you leaving me hanging like that! Rude!! So very many thoughts crashing through my head. I was all tangled up in knots over what happened at the end of book one. I was on board with Amora giving them the beat down of a lifetime. Then as I got further into this book, one by one, I started falling back under their spell. I wasn't the only one either. Kian sure didn't have me falling all over myself to forgive him though. Every single punch Amora threw his way made me want to high-five her. Speaking of Amora, that girl was knocking at deaths door way too much. When the situation went from bad to worse, I was begging for her to call Sable, Ridge, Trystan, Dare and Archer. She needs her family, and I can't help but wonder if Sable may be able to offer some major assistance. I'm crossing my fingers that they'll make an appearance. Someone else I'm all kinds of curious about is Felicity. There's just so many lingering unanswered questions surrounding her. I need answers!! I also need to slowly rip Quinton apart, one body part at a time. As if I wasn't already looking forward to his demise, that last stunt definitely has me bloodthirsty. I'm nervous what is coming in the next book. After what happened, I fear for a certain person, someone who doesn't deserve the pain they've already suffered, and now what's to come. Please don't pummel my heart too badly Callie!
Amora is going through alot with her mates. They aren't honest with her and deeply hurt her with their bond. She still keeps trying to kill them and then works with them and then try's to kill them. It's a love hate relationship. There is alot of action and not too much talking going on. So just think of it as an action movie where you see all the cool things they are doing and not much else. I liked this better than the 1st book. The guys come out of their shell and Frost really surprises me. I love him. lol! I'm sure everyone will go for Kian with him being the top guy and brooding and all. But Frost will make you fall in love with him. I'm tell you. If you immediately go for Kian then your just a girl who always goes for the bad boy and gets hurt in the end. Hey! I've been there but just wanted to tell you not to write off Frost. Keep reading the series. I highly recommend it. I just started reading the 3 book.
I really loved the 1st book but this one didn't do it for me. The 3 men broke the bond with her in last book and she goes chasing after them in this one. She gets captured by their evil Alpha. One of her mates watches her get tortured then they all rescue her. At some point she has sex with the males. Idk I just hoped since the bond was broken that she would be able to use her head more - she is constantly overtaken by lust. Her brain turns into complete mush while the men function normally. The bond seems extremely one sided so I'm having a hard time seeing this strong female. The true reason as to why the males rejected her doesn't match the vibe of the first book. I was in-between 2 or 3 stars but since I will read the 3rd book I rated this one 3.
I loved the first and the second book didn't disappoint me. I can see with other comments how this book could have dragged a bit, however, it builds the anticipation of Amora and the guys. I like how it took multiple POVs in this story more and I got more of the feels for all the characters. This cliffhanger is awesome, and if you hate them do not worry book 3 is already out and it will put your mind at ease. I might be in the lower popular opinion in this...but it is enemies to lovers so I am happy it stuck with that theme. There is no groveling or forgiving, it is who they are and how they form into something more. Great next installment.
They give their reason for breaking the bond and I find the reason a bit unbelievable and it didn't really make sense of how they acted in the first book. I would have liked more hints towards this reason in the first book. Plus near the end they make a plan I guess? It's really a half assed plan basically they have a goal and a when (immediately) but not a how and stuff. It was really stupid to not discuss anything. And I really missed the plan making in the book. They never discussed why they did it immediately, for me it would have made sense to plan for example a distraction or anything really.
Still coming to terms with having the bond broken by Amora’s mates she only has determination in her heart now. Amora tracks down a witch who helps her with a location spell. With the witches words still fresh in her mind about her mates being the cause of the apocalypse, she hardens her heart to her decision to kill them. However when she catches up to them things do not go her way. I feel for Amora in this book. She has so many emotions running through her and still feeling connected to their once bond doesn’t help her. Looking foreword to seeing what happens in the next book.
I literally wanted to drop kick my kindle with that ending of book 1. So i couldnt wait to see how book 2 was going to pan out. In short it was absolutely brilliant. What i particularly loved was Amora's stubbornness and her ability to keep her focus in what she felt was right even with everything she went through. Which was her initial purpose in book 1. More so with the rejected mate bond. Steamy at times with a story that definitely keeps you on your toes. That cliffhanger ending completely threw me. Dying for the next book now because im loving this series so much
Even better than the first! This book is amazing!! It picks up right where book one ends, leaving you so mad at the guys all over again. It’s full of non-stop action and I was rooting for Amora to get her revenge! I love how she is such a strong bada$$ FMC. I enjoyed getting a better glimpse of who the guys are and their motivations, and of course the steam is HOT!! That cliffhanger was killer and I cannot wait for the next book!
Untamed Mate picks up right where book one left off, and from there it’s a wild ride. Of course Amora isn’t going to just let the guys run off unchallenged. This book has a bit of everything: action and adventure, a run of emotions, and some serious heat. And the end? Let’s just say this author is really cranking out epic cliffhangers this year. I’m loving this series!
