WOW!! I absolutely love this book!! I couldn't put this one down. This was a nice quick, short read.
Preston/Pretty Boy meets Jolie when he's home for his last summer before he has to starts taking over his father's company. Jolie is a beach rat, sleeps under the pier, because her mother threw her out of the house when she went chasing after next sugar daddy. Jolie got mixed up with the wrong crowd and was the only one to get in trouble now she wears an ankle monitor and has to work at the Sugar Sand Shack to pay back what was taken. Preston comes to the Sugar Sand Shack with one of Jolie's worst enemies, Misty but when he looks at there he can't take his eyes off of her. The next day after she works her shift and she cleans up she heads to the strip to find some food, she runs into Misty and her friends. Jolie tries to hide but she overhears Preston asking all his friends to go on the ride with him, but none of them want to go. Jolie steps up and offers to go on the ride with him. They go on the ride together holding each other's hands, not exactly sure why they go on the ride. When they get off the ride Jolie discovers someone stole her backpack and knows it was Misty. Preston ask her to come over to his home when he finds out she lives under the prier and he'll get her bag back in the morning. When they pull into Preston's home Jolie discovers her mother's car in the driveway. Preston takes her into the guesthouse and he offers her a shower then tells her she can take his bed. When she finally explains how she got the ankle bracelet he tells her he'll take care of it. They stay up and watch a movie then he carries her to bed. Jolie gets a phone call from her mother and she asks her where she is, she tells her she's staying with a friend. Her mother tells her her new sugar daddy has a son about her age and they want them to get together. The next day Jolie's ankle bracelet get taken off, Preston offers Jolie to buy her some clothes since all her are at her mom's but she tells him no. When he begs to buy her some things for the beach she caves in and lets him buy her a swim suite. Preston tells Jolie all about her dad and what he does for a living. Jolie tells Preston about wanting to go to school to make something of herself. When they're the only ones left on the beach Jolie runs to the waves to take a last swim but Preston grabs her and they begin kissing. They hurry home, but stop along the way and make out. Preston asks Jolie to stay the night again with him, and go at it all night. Preston heads to the office the next day to get Jolie's bag back from Misty he doesn't stay long, heading back home to spend the day with Jolie. Three weeks go by with Preston and Jolie doing everything together, they go out to dinner, party on the strip, go out on the boat, and just lay around the guesthouse together. When Preston offers to pay for Jolie school she tells him no. Two days later her mother calls her wanting her to come meet her new sugar daddy and his son, but when Jolie looks out the window she sees her mother standing only in a thong. She rushes to her mother and covers her up, her mother is shocked and asks her what she's doing there. Then her mother finally figures out she's seeing her sugar daddies son. Her mother tells her how proud she is of her, but Jolie tells her it's not like that. Her mother tells her that her new boyfriend already asks his dad to set up an account for her schooling. Jolie just wants to get her things out her her mother's home so she tells her yes that's what she's doing setting up the son to set her up for life. Preston overhears their conversation and can't believe they are being taken advantage of, so he calls his father. His father tells him he knows, he hasn't had a woman to love or love him since Preston's mother. This isn't how Preston want to have any relationship. After Preston leaves for the day Jolie heads out and set up her college courses, then gets a real job at the Sugar Sand Shack, then heads home and grabs as much of her stuff as she can out of her old room. When she gets back to Preston's guesthouse he accuses her of doing the same thing her mother is doing. Jolie runs away and leaves on under the pier for a week. Preston comes to apologies to her, he tell her he doesn't want to end up like his dad, she tells him she doesn't want to end up like her mom. He tells her he loves her and she tells him she loves him to, hopefully they can make this long distance thing work. They spend the next year getting their degrees and at every opportunity flying to see one another. They spend the Thanksgiving in Maine with Preston's mom, He spent his Christmas in Miami. He flew in to see her get her certificate even though she didn't have a graduation. Jolie moved on from the Sugar Sand Shack and is now a waitress at a beachside bar. She is interning at Preston's company learning their marketing. They moved in together when Preston got his own place, Jolie asks him if he wants to go to the beach tomorrow, but he asks her if she has to work tomorrow. Jolie tells Preston no, it's summer time, the beach is calling and she must go. Skipping work for the summer was going to have to happen, because Preston can't resist Jolie.

Preston and Jolie are two people who are not in the same social classes. He’s enjoying his last summer before college and taking over his Dad’s company and she’s trying to find her way after making a big mistake and dealing with the repercussions. They meet by chance and he’s as soon as he sees her eyes, he’s caught: hook, line and sinker!
Preston knows who is is, what he’s gonna do for his life but he never lets the fact that he has money affect how he treats people. I love that with his parents, he never let that turn him into someone cruel and selfish.
Jolie is strong, independent and a little lost. She’s trying to cope with everything she’s going through. Her situation hit me hard and I instantly loved her character! From volunteering for that first ride to beach days and boat rides, I loved Preston and Jolie and their adventures. Their connection is amazing and I love Jolie’s character development. It’s such a beautiful thing to read about or see how one or two kind acts can truly change someone my life! Pretty Boy is short, steamy and perfection!

What an amazing story! Jolie is doing community service for something she did. Preston is going to take over his dad’s business once he graduates college. He’s hanging out with someone whom Jolie dislikes when they first meet. After meeting, Preston runs into Jolie on the beach. They have amazing chemistry from the beginning. Because of Jolie’s living condition, he offers her to come stay with him in the guest house at his dad’s. Jolie knows exactly who her mom is hanging out with-her mom is a piece of work-after seeing her car at the main house. Her mom likes to go for sugar daddies. Jolie doesn’t say anything. Will this eventually bite her in the butt? They have the best couple weeks and are falling hard for each other. Uncertain circumstances though may tear them apart. Can these two eventually be together in the end despite everything? Jolie is definitely on the path of getting her life together. Preston just wants to be with someone who can love him for who he is, not what he has. I couldn’t get enough of this book and wanted to just keep reading til the end.
What I love about Katie Rae books is that they're low angst. This novella is the perfect summer time read. Jolie is down on her luck after a run in with some bad friends so she's living on the beach... literally. Preston is living it up his last summer before he has to live in the real world. When a chance encounter brings these two together they find that this may just be the best summer ever.
With this being a novella, the story gave us a glimpse into the world of Jolie and Preston. The time they spent together is what being young and in love is all about. I loved Preston for the fact that he wasn't a pretentious pretty boy... he was genuine and that was refreshing. Jolie was great! I loved how she was unapologetically her to the core.
Lately I’ve been in a reading rut and haven’t found a book that calms me. With Pretty Boy, I hit the jackpot. This is one of those books that is insta-love, little angst and has very likable main characters. Preston is a sweet, centered, boy next door with money. Jolie, unfortunately isn’t as blessed. Her mom has kicked her out, she is wearing an ankle monitor and lives under the pier. Preston takes one look and sees behind her tough bravado and actually “sees” her. From there they spend a blissful summer together, I really liked Jolie’s character. Because of how her mom is, she wants to prove to the world that she is different and not there to take handouts. Yes, there is a little angst but it is resolved quickly. If you are looking for a sweet summer read, especially if you are going to the beach, grab this book.
When you’re a Florida girl there’s nothing you love more than fun in the sun with the ocean calling you to come cool off! This book completely delivers with the sexy, dreamy and beachy!! Jolie could be anyone of us, she an average girl with an average life but Preston shows her that average is a state of mind. If you want something you can do it and that “ordinary” people deserve extraordinary things too! His down to earth “ I just want real connection” vibe was so sexy. I love that he was giving without expectations. Once Jolie accepted that he was trustworthy the relationship was unbreakable!!
This was such a beautiful story about two people from 2 different worlds coming together and forming an amazing friendship and love. Jolie is a loner who is trying to find her way in the world and doesn't want to end up like her gold digging mother. Preston is on summer break and meets Jolie while at the beach. He is kind and compassionate and does not want to be like his father. The two form an amazing relationship, until their two worlds collide. Can their relationship survive?
This is an absolute must read!! Can't wait to read the other books in this series!!
Having picked up Ms.Rae's work for the first time recently I've been so looking forward to picking up more of her work! As soon as I found out about this one I knew I wanted to read it next! I enjoyed this quick read!
Jolie and Preston's journey had my attention quickly! I really liked how these two were brought together and the way I just clicked with these two! I felt many things with both of them.
With Pretty Boy, Ms.Rae has created such a good read!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from the author*
This standalone novella is written in first person from an alternating dual POV and ends in a HFN.
Jolie is kind of a mess. Preston has his act together. Unlikely circumstances bring them together and they form a friendship to fling to more. I liked Preston. He seemed like a really good guy. I had a little trouble liking Jolie’s character. She wallowed a little much for me. There were some proofreading errors that made me a little crazy. Other than that, this was a fast and fun read with a little heat.
This instalove story is sweet, steamy, and all the wonderful things about a summer romance! Jolie is struggling to find her way and living on the beach wasn’t in her plans. When she meets Preston, her complete opposite in every way, her summer turns hotter and even more serious than a fling. These two are so perfect for each other in this opposites attract story! Loved it sooooo much!
For such a short book this story really packed a punch! I fell for Jolie almost instantly with her tough exterior and it didn’t take much longer for Preston to win my heart after proving he wasn’t like those he hung around. I’m not a big fan of instalove but Katie Rae sucked me in and made me a believer. I would totally read an entire series that started with these two but I’m also completely satisfied with the way this book played out.
I love this story. It was engaging and interesting. Jolie has ran into some trouble. She is pretty, sweet, and homeless. She is trying to stay under the radar for the time being. Preston is a pretty boy. He is handsome, smart and rich. He is try to enjoy his last summer before his senior year in college. Great writing. Can two people from different worlds work? Do opposites attract? Go grab this book if you want to know the answer. Amazing work again Katie Rae!
This is a short story and not a book. But that’s not the reason for the low rating. It just did not work for me. The mega rich Miami pretty boy falls for a homeless girl who showers in the ocean and wears all black and whose highest ambition is a certificate from community college?? Then he immediately believes her after hearing with his own ears how she’s using him. Just too unbelievably for me…
Cute quick summer read! I loved Preston and Jolie. Jolie did not want to be like her mom, so much so she was willing to be homeless for a while. Preston wants to be with someone who can love him for who he is, not his money. They realize after spending time together that they are meant to be together. Their path was not easy but it was worth it. I highly recommend this cute read.
Super cute quick read! Preppy boy meets girl from the wrong side of the tracks. They each discover there's more to the other, despite how people perceive them. I love Jolie, she's so fiesty and fiercely independent, no matter the cost, and Preston is so adorably smitten with her. A small amount of drama and angst, but overall a breezy summer love story.
I don't think until today I have read a bad girl and good guy trope but this one is definitely a good place to start ...
A short story that kept you captivated and involved. Situations are believable and the characters are loveable in their own right even if you wanna shake them
Enjoy a quiet few hours getting lost in this story
Pretty Boy brings you back to the carefree days of summer even if Jolie’s summer doesn’t start so carefree. She’s stuck being homeless and jobless and now embarrassed. Then Pretty Boy happened into her life. Katie was able to write and develop this short, sweet and steamy novel into a beautifully woven story.
Jolie was a girl trying to find her way and not be like her mom. Preston loved both of his parents he was more like his mom as for love but he had the drive homework from his dad he meet Jolie and feel in love right away they got to know grandmother then there was a misunderstanding Preston got mad but they made up an got their happy ever after
What a fun summer read! Loved Jolie and Preston. Their story was steamy, sexy, fun and beautiful. Two people from different walks of life, one knows what he wants and the other, learning how to deal with mistakes made. I loved these two together, what a great read!
Jolie is living on the beach dealing with the consequences of her bad choices. Preston is living it up one last summer, before he has to take over his father’s company. When a chance encounter has these two meeting sparks fly.
A great summertime romance! Pretty Boy is a short and steamy read.
Little bit of angst. Little bit of insta-love. Little bit of pulling me right in. Preston is something else and I love every minute of him. Jolie didn't have the best life, but she wants to prove to the world she can do it! A short but fun read!
Jolie is down on her luck but when she meet Preston her world changes.Still on guard with her heart will she let Preston in. This novella was cute and adorable but also hot and steamy. Katie Rae hit it out the park once again!
Pretty Boy is the perfect quick, instaloving, beach visiting kinda story. I loved how strong Jolie was given her circumstances and Preston was a big old swoon worthy book boyfriend. I felt like I was at the beach with them and could picture everything perfectly.
Another great one from Katie Rae! I loved these two characters and how pure and open they were about their feelings. I would’ve loved to see this as a novel versus a novella to get more of the heat and steam between Jolie and Preston!
This was such a great short read especially since we are officially in Summer weather. I love the connection between Jolie and Preston. All I wanna do is go to the beach and sun bathe now.
This was a short and fun summer read from this author. I really enjoyed seeing Preston and Jolie’s summer fling evolve. Of course, there were some misunderstandings, but I was loved seeing them get their HEA. 💞
