A fun, easy to read, dark mafia romance, was it anything special? No. Would I recommend it? Honestly idk.

This was my first Michelle Heard book and I will absolutely be reading more of her mafia books!

WARNING!! It was very insta lusty, which for some reason didn’t bother me as much as I expected but it did keep me from feeling a strong connection from the main couple, I definitely would have loved this more if it was a slow burn, but it was so short that it makes sense why their relationship developed so fast.

The last 20% really started to fall pretty flat and the plot just almost weirdly fizzled out?

But, a Russian mafia man is going to make me food every time.

'MERCILESS SAINTS' Is the first full length mafia romance book in the series 'St. Monarch's Academy', by Michelle Heard. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.'

OMFG!! This book was PHENOMENAL!! Best book I’ve read by her!! I never wanted this book to end, that’s how much I loved it! I even slowed down my reading speed just so I could savour EVERYTHING. Who knew she had this mafia goddess hiding from us, because she freaking NAILED IT.!!

Usually I can kind of sort of pump out a review but this book right here has me freaking SPEECHLESS!! This genre used to be my jam so reading one where the author paid tribute to this genre has me wanting to jump back into them.

We first meet Winter at the age of thirteen when in the blink of an eye her life changes making her grow up in a hurry. My innocence is ripped from me, and my world is thrown into violent disarray. She's had to be isolated on a remote island, kept hidden, kept safe, taught by the best on how to fight.

At the age of twenty one is where she encounters Damien where they both attend St Monarch's where you train with only the best. For two years she will live with her enemies, the ones that will come after her family.

He's been raised in a family of elite protectors. He's been living at St Monarch's for the past twenty-two months and will be paired with one of the top assassins when he graduates.

It was PERFECTION at its best, wasn't too dark, wasn't insta love (another tick), this just had the right amount of everything which will appeal to everyone. From the characters, to the unique storyline my words can't give this book the justice it deserves. All I know is I want more, need more, crave more!! And OMG I am ecstatic that this is a series!!

Merciless Saints is my first read from Michelle Heard, and it was everything my mafia romance loving soul needed! Action, suspense, violence, alliances, feuds, vengeance, and steam all wrapped up into one captivating little package that I could not put down! 

Omg! Why have I been sleeping on Michelle Heard?! I swooned! I teared up! I fanned myself in a couple of places, and I fell head over heels in love with these characters!!!

Winter is a fierce heroine with a fiery spirit. She's smart, selfless, sexy, and an incredible shot. I couldn't help but admire her! No matter what life throws at her, she kicks it in the face and keeps moving. Her strength is nothing short of extraordinary.

Damien is my kind of anti-hero! He's jaw-droppingly gorgeous, possessive, dominant, loyal, intelligent, and deadly. He's the best at what he does, and he knows it.

Together, these two are fire!!! They're the type of characters I love to see form a relationship, because their chemistry is nothing less than explosive. When you have two badass individuals that will bow to no one on their knees for each other, it's a beautiful thing to behold.

Winter's insane beauty, pride, determination, intelligence, and skill, garner Damien's respect and make his dick hard all at the same time. I loved watching her break through all of his walls. She makes him feel in ways that no one else ever has.

Aside from Damien's obvious physical appeal, Winter admires and respects him for his extraordinary expertise, dedication, and the code of honor he upholds. With him at her side, she finally feels safe in a world where she has always been everything but, and despite his desire to protect her, he treats her as his equal. Basically, they're perfect for each other in every single way.

Merciless Saints is addictive, fantastically written, and an all-around enjoyable read!  Michelle Heard made me believe in Winter and Damien's love for each other in such a short amount of time without making it feel like total instalove which I appreciated. That takes some serious talent! 

Bottom line, I had a great time, and I'm definitely coming back for more! This is just the first book in the St. Monarch's Academy series. I can't wait to see what the author has in store for us in the future!!

This was an intriguing and vigorous suspenseful romance read, full of action, angst and romance!!!!

Winter was an Irish 21 y.o. girl who had made her mission at a young age to become the best custodian so she could protect her mafia family, since her mother was killed.
She was brave, strong, feisty and dedicated.

Damien was 23 y.o., raised in a Russian family of elite protectors and he was the best guardian in the academy. A great badass character, powerful, ruthless and very sexy!

Their chemistry was explosive and their journey was filled with twists and turns, action, intrigue and steamy moments.

A few scenes were far fetched to me, for example when Cillian (Winter’s personal guard) saved her after her mother was shot. Their car was hit by bullets, slammed a couple of times and then Cillian just got out of the car and shot all of the attackers!
Also, I was not convinced of Winter and Damien’s love. It was insta and could have been developed more thoroughly.
The last 30% of the story slowed down and its spark was diminished, as if the author was rushed to reach the ending. At least, the epilogue was up to par.

Overall, I enjoyed it and I will definitely read the next book in this series.

Chapter 2 opening scene for Damien. His brother and mafia associates take him to a gentleman’s club were he has sex with a prostitute.
It’s to show us that woman are to mean nothing to these men. And it’s when he’s 18yr old and present time he is 23yr old.
‼️Most won’t be bothered by this but I’m just not ok with it. Why show it? Just tell us why they don’t love woman. I’m sensitive to OW sex so it’s a no do for me.

But yeah…NO.
I thought this author was safe. And bam 20pgs in we get a sex scene w OW!? No thanks not even gonna bother with the rest cause it’s in my head and ain’t getting out. 🤯

I've been meaning to read this series after I finished The Sinners by Michelle.

I love Mafia books, so I was pretty excited to dive into this world again and read about the parents’ stories.

Winter is just given a bad hand when she loses her mother right in front of her and vows to protect her family by learning to take care of them in ways that the world she lives in only understands Power and violence.

She goes to St Monarchs academy to learn to become a custodian. There she meets the infamous Damien who is known for being lethal and coming from a family that has a reputation for being unbeatable.

I really liked the setting of the school and how Winter wasn't allowing anyone to intimate her despite who she was surrounded with. She was beyond fearless, and you could tell it was not an act because when she had to be vulnerable she allowed herself to be just that. It just felt very human to me.

I loved the plot and how it all unravelled. It was insane to watch the auction happen one minute and the next EVERYTHING changed. It all just went up in flames. Damien was bought for a year contract to protect her and that was her father’s last gift before he and her younger brother were assassinated right after the auction since someone had purchased a member of the school to kill them.

Cillian's (Winter's bodyguard) was beautiful. I love how dedicated he was to her and how he adored her to the point where he truly viewed her as his daughter. I'm glad he didn't die despite that scene and scare!

Let me tell you - it was intense lol not only that plot line but their chemistry and how possessive he was!

I will mention that in the beginning there is a scene where Damien is with another woman however this is BEFORE he even meets or speaks to Winter. It's way before :)

Overall, I loved this book - it had the perfect mixture of mafia world and plot as well as romance.

Merciless Saints was an action packed steamy read with a bad a** heroine who stopped at nothing to protect her family. This was mafia goodness wrapped up in a revenge bath that left you on the edge of your seat.


At thirteen years old, Winter Hemsley witnessed the unimaginable. That day not only changed her life, but it started a fire in her that only grew as the years went by. Now Twenty One, Winter is off to St.Monarch’s Academy for elite training with the best of the best. But her arrival is not all smooth sailing and if there’s one thing that Winter knows very well, is to protect yourself at all cost.


Damien Vetrov is a force to be reckoned with and you will never meet anyone as good as him. He’s quick, determined, deadly, and he has no time for distractions. When he meets the newest recruit also known as the “blood princess”, Damien knows that a distraction is going to be the least of his problems when it comes to Winter.



I honestly went into this story thinking that it was going to be a quick read with a little bit of action but I got so much more! I loved seeing the heroine fight for her family and herself. She held nothing back and took control of her own journey and we not only witnessed her strength, but her turning from a princess to a queen.



From the undeniable chemistry to the action set in a mafia world, Merciless Saints will have you wanting more of everything!! I cannot wait to see what this author is going to do next with the other characters because the possibilities are endless and down right dangerous. If you love your books a little dark with a Mafia romance, then this book is for you.

Wasn't terrible and I actually made it through the whole book this time which is an achievement in itself 👌I could have liked it more if the pointless (and disgusting), prologue wasn't included though. The writing also could have been a bit better as a lot of it was just a bit too cheesy and insta love for me. I low-key cringed everytime the heroine would call herself the "blood princess" or everytime the hero would overly compliment her in his mind. I also didn't care for the hypocrisy of him killing the guard she has slept with when he's slept with how many women?🙃 Also, everything felt a little superficial and VERY rushed, and I'm still confused why they even love each other? Because they're attractive, I'm guessing? Or because they can fight? Those were pretty much the only things they cared about, so I never felt any real affection or emotion for each other. Anyways, I'm still undecided if the characters are interesting enough to continue on🤔

Почну з того, що головний герой представник російської мафії. На цьому, мабуть, варто було закінчити читання, бо вже на початку книги, я мало не ригала лише від їхніх імен. Але я чула хороші відгуки про цю серію, тому продовжила далі, в надії, що там буде хоча б цікавий сюжет. Спойлер. Його не було.

Персонажі дуже картонні. Він весь такий владний мачо мен, який готовий всіх за неї вбити. І вона - сильна мадам, яка втратила багатьох близьких, але швидко про то забула, бо в неї ж є Демієн, що ще треба🤦

Я не зрозуміла, звідки взялося те кохання. З першого ж погляду вони відчули потяг один до одного, в нього прокинулося величезне бажання присвоїти її собі, забрати душу, тіло і серце (дослівна цитата). А вона відразу ж почала мліти від його вигляду. А далі все в них так ідеально склалося, що хотілося закочувати очі з кожної сторінки. Але найбільше я крінжувала з територіальності головного героя, по типу відведіть всі від неї очі, бо вона моя, або: піду і вб'ю кожного з ким ти спала раніше, бо я повинен бути єдиним живим чоловіком, кого ти тра*ала. Прибийте мене🤦🤦🤦 А їй це прям подобалося.
В деяких книгах оця територіальність і владність виглядала доцільно і навіть мило, але тут це було дико смішно.

А ще, для чого було вбивати так багато людей на початку книги, щоб що, на сльзи вивести? Тоді вийшло, але від того книга не почала подобатися більше.

Загалом, тут така insta love, що аж тошно, хоча можливо я і упереджена через російську братву, але єдине, що я знайшла хорошого в цій книзі, це те що вона маленька і доволі швидко читається, а ну і те, що на емоції, які не які мене вивела. За це 2 бали, бо я добра😂😂

which honestly is one of the biggest turn offs for me when reading a freaking romance!!!🥲🥲

but considering the author never once put such a scene again in any of her other books/mafia series, it seems like this was probably a one time thing….😌😏🥹

Outstanding start to the series!

St. Monarch's Academy is a place where all organized crime family's can send their children once they turn 21 to gain some additional training that will help them in the world in which they live. It is considered to be neutral ground and the school has one policy, no one is to kill another student on their grounds. Merciless Saints is Damien Vetrov and Winter Hemsley's story.

Winter is called the Blood Princess for a couple of reasons but the main on is because her family is in the blood diamond business. With her fiery spirit and her red hair it isn't a surprise to learn that her family is Irish Mafia. Winter's life changed when she was thirteen years old and it put her on her path in life. She is now twenty-one and starting at the Academy.

Damien has been training at the Academy for almost two years to be a custodian and in a couple of months when his time there is done he will be auction out for contract as a protector. He has an impeccable record and whoever gains him as their protection for the year will be glad for it.

When Damien and Winter met for the first time the chemistry was instant. I loved the way they were together in every way. This book had so much action in it, it will keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next. There were a few intense moments that had me gasping for breath but WOW it was so intense I didn't want to put it down.

If you enjoy Romantic Suspense, Dark Romances, or Organized Crime Romances I would highly recommend this book to you.

First Impressions
I was really curious to try out other books by this author as I really had a blast with her Sinners series. And I was still in a page turning mafia mode, so I decided to grab up on Merciless Saints and i can tell you that I absolutely adored it so deeply. This book was so different than anything else that I could have expected from this author. It definitely had a different feel to a romance that your typical mafia romance as it definitely had a more assassin vibe to the story. I found it so intriguing the world building that is built within this story and it definitely is dark and bloody haha so make sure you can handle darker themes with the hero and heroine both being trained assassins. It really has an intense feel to the story that will satisfy suspense fans.

I’m going to claim the payment she owes me once we’re on the island. She will warm my bed during the nights, and in return, I’ll kill her enemies. I will own her body, her broken heart, her unwavering spirit. I’ll help her take her rightful place in her family’s business while satisfying my craving for her.

Summary
Winter is viewed as the “blood princess” and not just because her father is the kingpin of working with blood diamonds in Africa but because she witnessed her mother murdered in front of her eyes and vowed ever since to protect her family which is where the St. Monarch’s Academy comes in. She is now eighteen and she has learned everything that she can, but now she wants the more advanced training and she knows that she will learn from the best at St. Monarch’s Acadey where the most elite of assassins and mafia families alike come together, with no bloodshed to learn how to fight and kill and be the best in the world. There is an instant attraction between Winter and the King of assassins: Damien, who instantly know what is between them is real even knowing that they could be enemies one day, But when the worst happens and they have to rely on each other for survival, they are determined to conquer their enemies and become king and queen but it will come at a price, will the cost be worth it to them both?

“If the marriage is consummated, I won’t stand for a parade of other women through my house.” Ahhh… my princess is possessive. I don’t think she knows what she just gave away with that request. It tells me she cares enough to not want to share me.

What I Loved
Merciless Saints was such a unique story that I had so much fun reading and I just couldn’t seem to get enough. This book completely kicks booty and was so wild and entertaining and I never knew where it was going to go. This is a story that will lead you on a merry chase and you will be more than happy to be along for the adventure, I honestly didn’t know what to expect from this book but I will be honest this story completely blew my expectations out of the water. It had a level of intensity and emotion that I wasn’t ready for. I am telling you to get a box of tissues for this one here because you are going to NEED them and I am not saying that lightly. Whew does this author know to evoke such intense emotion. The romance that builds between our characters is a bit of frenemies. They both are attracted to each other but they are enemies in a way as they could be contracted to kill each other down the road. But we definitely see how their attraction is the real thing and is what will get through the rough stuff is their deep connection. It gets pretty brutal and violent at times, but there are also these small sweet moments that make it all worth it.

“Treat me like your king, and I will make you a queen.” Her eyes search mine for the truth of my words, and when she finds it, she pushes up on her toes, pressing her mouth to mine. Submit to me, and I will burn the world down for you.

What I Struggled With
There is this moment that I struggled with concerning the heroine, where she takes an action that I felt was so unnecessary and just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Overall View
Merciless Saints is a wild and intense story that will grapple with the reader and deliver in its intense levels of emotion and plot building, its a story that will stun you completely in ways that you least expect and more!

I was really sceptical in the beginning thinking a mafia academy? what? Not gonna lie it seemed to me very surreal but I kept reading. It got better thankfully though I would have loved a little bit more action.

Hmm🤔🤔🤔 The book start with the hero in his young age 18 y.o is having sex with someone else in the club that his boss told him to do and he did it. Like what the actually fvck? That is not something or a scene that I like reading a book especially in the beginning 🫤🫤🫤 It made me want to vomit cause I don’t like that scene for a bit 🤮 Like come on author! You start the story with the hero’s POV with that sh*t? Like eeww annoying🥵🥵 One star down for me🤮 even though it only lasts for just short amount of time, but still i have to read that even that woman’s name…. Author what are you thinking🥵🥵🥵

When the couple meet for the first time, of course the lust and spark is obvious but the annoying part is that both really don’t want to give it a try at first. Especially the hero, i want the male character to be the one who is pursuing the heroine though. But no. Unfortunately the hero is really too busy with his own stupid goal than to really pursue the heroine and making her his. Which is so freakin exhausting to read his POV of one minute he is all over her and then he push her away and think about his goals without the heroine… My eyes are rolling too much at the beginning of this book 🥵🥵🥵 It’s like a bad book to even start with🤣

When they finally have sex, the hero have the nerve to even think about “Being only with whores before Winter, I’ve never orgasmed more than once. But with Winter, I’m still semi-hard even after three orgasms.” Like seriously? Thats what you are thinking when you were having sex with the heroine? Typically bastard man. It’s freakin annoying. One more stars down after i read that one🥵

The double fvcking standard. DOUBLE STANDARD IN THIS BOOK IS FVCKING ANNOYING. The hero went cruel and so mad when he found out that one of the guard on the island where him and the heroine recently residence in, is the heroine ex boyfriend before the hero. Like why are you even so mad about? That was even before you. And you were a manwhor3 before the heroine so for the hero to even be so mad about it like what?! 🤣 Like just fired him already and not be so dramatic 🤣 you are even worst than the heroine😂 the heroine only slept with one guy in her entire lifetime, the hero in other hand is plenty than her 😂 but the hero here shot the guy and say to the heroine “I better be the only man alive who’s fucked you.”. AND YOURSELF AZZHOLE?! WHAT ABOUT YOUR WHORES YOU SAID? 🙄🙄🙄 ARRGHH😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 This scene when I read it I was like okay three stars down!!!! This scene is not okay and so freakin annoying af 🥵

Also I feel like as i saw the couple attract one another and how they relationship begin, i always feels like the heroine is the one who liked the hero more than the hero to her…. His way of wanting her and obsession to her is not enough like the heroine to him. I like it when the hero or the guy who loves the heroine more than the heroine though…

Whelp! I inhaled Merciless Saints by Michelle Heard.
I can’t remember the last time I read a book by Michelle Heard but this book definitely makes me want to read more of her books.

Merciless Saint is dark, suspenseful, edgy and it steps right into the genre of mafia romance. When I read a mafia romance, I look for action, suspense, violence in an epic proportion, badass characters, bonds of friendship, loyalty and secrecy. Merciless delivered it to me on a silver platter.

I loved Winter so much! Talk about being a badass! She is so smart, sexy, dangerous…deadly combination.

I could just scream about how dangerously gorgeous and deadly this man is. Did I mention he is so possessive of Winter? *sigh*

Winter and Damien make one hell of a pair. They are a force to be reckoned with. Their chemistry is without a doubt off the charts incredible. Their skills for all things stealth, intelligence, weaponry is extraordinary.

Merciless Saints by Michelle Heard is so addictive. It’s not sugar coated at all with it’s visuals and description of the violence that takes place in the book. I can’t wait to read Cruel Saints, coming may 2021

safety:

short sex scene with a whore in the prologue. 5 years before hero meets heroine. safe in present time but i REALLY wish i didn't have to read about that. i would've usually stopped reading at that point b/c i hate reading sex scenes with OP but had nothing better to do so continued. it def dimmed my enjoyment of the book. no ow/om drama/cheating in present time. thank god heroine wasn't a virgin though.

Plot Summary :

From that day she has been with her dad and little brother, protecting them both. Enrolling into the academy was another step for this.

That is where she meets damien. Damein is ruthless and perfect in all the ways she should stay away from. Not to mention that he is currently on the enemy's side. That is until an event destroys her life and the only person who can save her is Damein and his family. She is bound to them now. And bound to him. To her ruthless captor. The man who is set to become so much more to her and won't be satisfied until he takes everything from her including her body, soul and heart.

Overall Opinion :
I absolutely love this new world Michelle has created! I went crazy about Alexie when we met him in THE HEIRS and now we get to see so much more of him! Damein and winter have one hell of a tale which was both emotional and hot.

They have chemistry and Michelle has done an amazing job of wrapping this one up with a perfect storyline. Her books are something I never miss because she has the uncanny ability to always give me all the feels through her words and characters.

I bet you that you will also love these characters as much as me if not more, if you give this book a chance. All those teases about the side characters and I just know that it's going to be one hell of a ride and I am all set to be destroyed!

Highly recommending this one to all the dark romance lovers out there!

One of the best things that I have ever done in my bookish life was to trust Michelle Heard with "Coldhearted Heir" and from that moment I was a goner for her stories and writing style!!! And she had rewarded me with every new book being better than her previous one...
OMG! You won't believe it if I'll say to you that this book was outstanding!!!! Unique, fast paced, with amazing characters and a plot full of twists on every corner. I was captivated and I just never wanted to stop reading...
This book reminded me "Vampire Academy" but get out the vampires and get in a mafia elite!!!

OMG!!! This story was sooo amazing!!!! I loved Winter and Damien. They were perfect for each other... Damien was cold, ruthless and fearless... Winter needed to learn from the best...
Every time that Winter was put in an ugly position Damien was there to get her out and a connection grew between them along with a massive attraction.
And when their both worlds are tumbling down, they are forced to join forces in order to succeed.
Now, Winter is indebted to Damien and he is demanding something that she is not sure that she is willing to give him... Her heart, her body and her soul!!!

Damien was unattached and cold in the beginning, but he was the best in what he was doing. He was born to be a protector and he was living by a code!!! I liked his softer side while in Winter's side, but I liked his determined and focused side on his goals...
Winter was fierce and determined as well!!! He had to do everything in her power to save her family no matter what it will cost her. I loved her feisty personality and her heart of gold. There wasn't a more fitting couple than these two...

St. Monarch's academy was a unique concept and i was captivated by it. It was something different in the mafia romance world and trust me on that matter 'cause I have read too many books in this genre!!!
Michelle's talent is above and beyond and I'm delightful to take rides along her side.
This story made a great impact to me and I enjoyed it to the fullest...
I loved the main couple and I loved the secondary characters that were surrounding them!!!
And I can not wait more of this world!!!

This book was AMAZING!! Seriously, I couldn't put this down. From the very first chapter, I was hooked.

My heart broke for Winter. She goes through a tragedy right at the beginning that was pulling at my heartstrings. But this girl is as strong as they come. I loved her fight and love for her family. She will stop at nothing to protect them.

Damien is also a force to be reckoned with. He feels an instant attraction to Winter. It's a foreign feeling for him and he's not quite sure how to deal with it. He is an alpha, possessive male that will stop at nothing to protect what he vows is his.

This book had me on the edge of my seat for most of it. Winter goes through some tragedies that had me crying. I felt so bad for her.

Seriously, this book was amazing. Mafia romance at its finest!! I've never read this author before but I'm so glad I did. I can't wait to start the next book!

I'M FREE, ONE OF THE WORST READING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE.
the only good thing that happened to me while reading this was that i finished it within hours because it was so bad i just wanted to get it over with.
plot was mediocre at best. the characters had zero chemistry. most of the things in the book felt like described answers rather than allowing the readers to feel them. winter went through so much and i expected to feel strongly for her but instead i felt nothing really and if i had to hear "submit" one more time from damien mf i would have thrown hands and the way he kept talking about how she "owed" her sex????? you keep preaching about how your family is totally against 🍇 yet you can't shut up about how much she owes her body to you???? cillian and dana were the only bearable people throughout this entire book. i get that this is a dark romance but the amount of times he objectified her gave me the ick. im so glad im done.
like i had to physically stop myself from throwing this book while reading this :-

Drama, family and mafia make an explosive combination…

I couldn’t wait to dive into this new series by a fave author. Winter and Damien came together in a surprising alliance that was more than just cold business. Offering protection, Damien surprised her as well as himself, as he put himself in front of her when enemy lines were crossed. There were boundaries that families didn’t cross but when others flaunted the rules, Damien was not going to allow it. Especially when it affected a woman, that against his own will, he was deeply drawn to. Violence, complicated loyalties, revenge – love never faced so many challenges but these two had what it took to survive. And thrive…

I LOVED this action-packed story that had heart and emotion to spare. Winter was strength personified as she faced one heart-breaking loss after another. Damien was cool and calm in death-defying situations but still a wild card that provided surprising comfort and protection. No one was more shocked than Damien at the feelings he had for this woman from a family he should stay far, far away from…

The twists and turns were many and fueled this story of deep emotion and suspenseful action. There are more to come and I can hardly wait! ~Diane, 5 stars

I'm so glad that I have read this book! Because this book is amazing! I don't think I've come across a book that has this kind of plotline, it's simply unique. The sexual tension and chemistry between our main characters are so on point and undeniably, loved it so much!

I would like to compare the narrative structure of this to riding a rollercoaster, the feelings that encompass that moment. I would suggest going in blind reading Merciless Saints (St. Monarch's Academy #1) and that's all I have to say.
