What’s worse…being abducted by aliens or being a host for one?
TARA: Worse turns out to be a terrifying alien General hell bent on claiming me, and my unborn child, for himself.
He wants complete submission and there’s no denying what I see in his deep red eyes, or the flash of his electric blue markings. He thinks he's the perfect specimen of a Haalux warrior in every department.
I might not have been in this galaxy for long, but I’ve got a trick or two. There’s a surprise waiting for the General and he’s not going to like it.
Not one bit.
KYLAR: I’m everything a Haalux warrior should be. I fight, maim and kill for my Empire without question.
The pregnant human female is mine, the spoils of war that I’m keeping for myself.
Because the Empire can’t call to my damaged soul in the way she does. Her ripe body and calculated defiance call to me, soothe me and push me to breaking point.
She has become my obsession and I’m going to tame her if it’s the last thing I do.
Crave is the second in the Haalux series by Hattie Jacks. Afull length steamy romance with a dominant, possessive alien General and a sassy pregnant human who is prepare to do anything to get her way. Sexy and smoldering, this book will have you panting for more.
As always, no cliffhanger, no cheating and a peachy HEA.
Here we have book two in the Haalux Empire. This one is really good. So remember General Kylar from book one. He was not a nice guy in the first book. So now we get to learn about him. But its like he has two sides. One where he is tough and brave and another where he is soft and sweet. So given the events that occurred in book one Rex decided that he would keep General Kylar away for a bit. On a mission Kylar comes across Tara. So who is Tara? Well she was a slave to a grolick. **shivers** Anyways she is trying to think of a way to escape and on top of that she is pregnant. She knows that is the only thing from stopping Pritan from doing her harm. Now Tara is in mommy mode since she is pregnant and she is going to do anything she can to survive. However, she did not see General Kylar coming. He gets one look at her and something stirs in him. Something he has not felt in a while. he wants to keep a close eye on her and she tries to keep her distance. We get a lot of emotions in this book. I love that once they get past the barriers they both have the story comes alive. I love that we do get the story besides the heated moments. We also get some unexpected moments and it seems to maybe put us back to square one. I was happy to see them grow emotionally as well as physically. We get a lot of twist, turns and bouts of excitement. So do we get a happily ever after. Check out this book to see how it all goes down. This is a great follow up in the series. Off to the next one.
Excellent book 2 in this series! I absolutely loved GENERAL Kyler and Tara! This continues on with the Alien abduction trope with the Unseen bad guys, but it is better than book one for me because the characters were so well developed and more interesting. Both were a little damaged but overcame it through their love so well. The sex scenes in book 1 were more descriptive, but they didn't have the steam or satisfaction for me like book 2 did because I totally connected with these characters and how they grew throughout the book. Loved the Epilogue!
Hattie delivers another HEA where you can just stop, but that's just no fun! I am really enjoying this series so far and am looking forward to starting book 3 for my evening reading tomorrow.
I was worried about Kylar being in the starring role because he was a douche canoe but he was awesome! I liked this book more than the first one. Great book
You have got to be kidding me. The plot is ridiculous. Okay, the beginning because I never got to a plot. I couldn’t make it beyond 9%. Book 1 was bad and I thought perhaps it was a one-off and started Book 2. The issue? This is “Alien Romance” not “Alien Erotica”. None of the behavior, either human or alien, is remotely believable and that’s what makes a good alien romance….that you can believe the actions, and reactions, of the characters. Even if the Haalux behaved this way no human female who has been used and abused would react like this unless heavily drugged. My notes/highlights say it all. Life’s just too short. Follow-up. Apparently all my notes have been wiped. Not sure how to put them in retroactively.
Alien abduction PNR with darker themes but strong characters
I highly recommend this series be read in publication date order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers as there are reoccurring characters and an overarching theme.
This is the second story of the series and it does contain subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence such as kidnapping / abduction, human trafficking, assault, torture, rape, enslavement, fighting with some to the death, betrayal, light BDSM (spanking, restraints), dominant / submissive theme, etc.
Warning: even though I have tried to keep details generic, there might still be a spoiler listed below if you have not read the series.
Last chance ….
There are grammatical issues throughout the story, similar to the previous, fortunately I was able to easily interpret without disrupting my reading flow too much.
Overall the storyline is still strong and the world building is good. The story universe could have been better, but the frequent location changes detracted from the overall experience. I understand this was necessary for the storyline, but was one of the reasons for lower rating.
I struggled a little bit getting into this story, maybe because of the personality of the General. The backstory of what happened to him and the timeline provided didn’t align with his actions or the timeline utilized to explain how he met Tara. Alien or not, the General’s recovery, return and being restored to his same position wouldn’t have happened in less than a year. This could have been resolved by storing said DNA until the right vessel was located.
I vaguely remember this story . Years ago , I got an unlimited subscription, and I read EVERYTHING !!! Such memorable characters , that I have thought of often . So , so glad that I found this series again , with a lot if help on the many different pages and sites !! In this boom General Kylar has been tasked with finding out more about the Unseen , and their connection with the dastardly, nasty , grolix pigs . Kylar finds more then he bargains for in the main bedroom of a minor grolix leader who is dead in his bed. Next to him is a tiny female human . A Very pregnant one. Hmmm. Surely , this teensy , tiny female did not do That !! But she did .
Tara has been abducted, abused , as well as tortured, and she is ticked off to the highest power , and Done with this whole situation !!! She needs to get Out of here !!!! Her life was finally on track , and then , Boom !!! NOW she is pregnant , and she wants to get away from here !! When the big shiny gray Aliens come after the horrible grolix, she is all for it !! She just needs to find a way to get away from that guy who is clearly in charge . But, does she really ??? I thought this book was a great read !! Funny , yet a whole lot of feelings behind the actions . The descriptions were well thought out , and the dynamic between the General , his crew and Tara , and the Istrovan Rex from the previous book ,was very insightful and I really enjoyed how everything came together . And I don't EVER want to come in contact with a Fah !!!!! Can't wait for the next book !!!!
I liked this one too. I liked Kylar better than Rexitor (H from Book 1) because of how protective he was of Tara for the majority of the story. Rexitor was such a dick to Jayne (h from Book 2) intermittently throughout their own story. Case in point, towards the end of Book 1, Kylar shot Jayne. He was unaware of the circumstances and what was actually going on, but it seems that Rexitor just forgave him. I thought part of this book would be Kylar redeeming himself for his actions, especially since Jayne becomes the Queen.
Anyway, moving on. I liked this story and the interactions between the MCs. I also love the pregnancy trope, so I enjoyed that the heroine was pregnant from the beginning of the book. When I found out that the father of the baby was Kylar, I thought that was odd given how unlikely the circumstances were. It seemed like a move to appease readers who do not like the heroine being pregnant by another man. However, the author pulled it off and the reasons given for his sperm being used were actually convincing in the end. Yes, the fact that they ended up meeting was unlikely, but this is a fated mates story, so it did not seem like too much of a stretch that fate or destiny would bring two fated mates together.
Crave: Alien General's Obsession is the second book in The Haalux Empire series by Hattie Jacks. The series is made up of five steamy Sci-fi romances. I have enjoyed my first foray into Ms. Jacks work, pulled into all the action and adventure as these fated mates traversed all the ups and downs along the way to their HEA. With alpha alien warriors, politics, agendas, drama, angst, danger, tension, mystery, action, emotion, and lots of sizzle- this series certainly made it hard to put down for any length of time when the real world demanded my attention. The Series Contains: -Taken: Alien Commander’s Captive (Book #1) -> Commander Rexitor and Jayne’s story. -Crave: Alien General’s Obsession (Book #2) -> General Kylar and Tara’s story. -Havoc: Alien Captain’s Alliance (Book #3) -> Captain Bron, Lexi, and Rheon’s story. (MFM) -Bane: Alien Warrior’s Redemption (Book #4) -> Jak and Eve’s story. -Traitor: Alien Hunter’s Mate (Book #5) -> Terx and Stella’s story.
This has been a great introduction to Ms. Jacks work, and now I am looking forward to reading more of her books, asap. Happy Reading…
This is absolutely great. Page-turning drama and an Unseen mystery and a very, very hot Haalux. General Kylar is as badass as they come but also broken inside and, though he hides it well, traumatised by his previous torture at the hands of the The Unseen. When the Haalux storm the base where a pregnant Tara is being kept she kills the disgusting Grolix Pritan, only for Kylar to take her for the information she has overheard. She is so pretty, so soft and so pink. He knows he is undeserving of having a mate but Tara calms him with her mere presence. It is more than that. She is his kedves. His salvation. And all he has to do is find out what The Unseen did to her, how to stop it from happening again, find a cure and protect her from anything that may harm her for the rest of their time. No biggie, he is General Kylar, terror of the Harom Galaxy, the most feared Haalux warrior of all time. I do hope we learn more about Lexi's story in another book.

👽 “You are mine. You are mine entirely. I have claimed you.” ~~~ Tara is brave, feisty, smart and fierce. Even after being abducted and experimented on, she’s not giving up and shows a great amount of strength. And I loved that she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind.
Kylar is ruthless, brutal, bossy and dominant. He’s been traumatized but he hides it well. But he is also unexpectedly caring and gentle. It was such a sweet scene when the terrifying general was preparing food for Tara.
I loved the development of their relationship. Kylar had a dark past being captured and tortured and Tara’s missing memories of her abduction and experiments took time to overcome and the mysteries to unravel. But they had great chemistry and their passion and attraction was so hot. They were a great match and absolutely deserved their HEA.
Moreover, the plot around the Unseen thickens.
Overall, the story is a wonderful read filled with action, drama, mysteries, twists, turns, danger and steam.
The male lead, Kylar, was a secondary character in the previous story, and he was not thrilled with the idea of humans as mates. It is a fun irony that he is now so blessed. He is arrogant and dominant and yet uncomfortable and afraid of the idea and watching him work his way through the challenge is fun.
The female lead, Tara, has been abducted, experimented on, and forcibly artificially inseminated, yet has managed to not lose her feistiness and spirit and is determined to make the best choices for her child.
The character and relationship development as they traverse a challenging and adventure ridden landscape was enjoyable and I really enjoyed how they worked together. Plus the intimate scenes were hot.
The story is dual POV, well written, and truly standalone from the first in the series.

Tara has been abducted and remembers very little of what has happened to her before she ended up being a slave to one hideous alien being. She is pregnant but has no idea how that happened either although she is know very adept at listening to what is going on around her. Kylar is a Haalux General, well-known thorughout the galaxy for being brutal, ruthless and single-minded. He arrives trying to capture the alien that has Tara as a slave only to find him taken out by Tara. There is something in her that calls to him and he begins to realise that she is his fated mate, which was something that the Haalux did not believe could happen outside of their own species. I loved both these characters, for all their flaws, their sheer will to live and their ability to accept that they made mistakes. Fantastic story! Cannot wait for the next one. Look out for Lexi too, she rocks!
This Kylar and Tara's story. Kylar is a general on a mission. Tara is kept as a slave, though heavily pregnant with no memory of how or who. She is taken by the General and now in his care. She is a fighter, spirited and not afraid to speak her mind. Kylar claims her and both learn more about the other as they spend and intimate moments. There is a lot going on in this story as it unfolds and they learn more about a deeper underlying connection. It is an eventful story with plenty of adventure and, at times angst. They do get their HEA in the end but the prospect of Lexi and Bron is also looking good! :)

Sci Fi Romance is not my typical genre, but I liked the blurb and thought I'd give it a try, again. Got to admit this may be the best and most enjoyable romance I've read in this genre to date. I liked the who premise and mystery revolving around Tara's pregnancy and the way Kylar's history was wound up with her abduction backstory. Tara was victimized but never a victim, and I loved the way she started owning up to her fate and the way she drew her strength from Kylar. Interesting premise and it's true that I didn't have any urge to skim through storyline. I did not want to miss a word of this entertaining read.

Tara was abducted over a year ago. She's now a pet to an smelly fat Grolix. Forced to obey his commands or suffer the consequences. By the way, she's pregnant, no idea who the father is, since she was drugged during her previous enslavement before winding up in the clutches of the Grolix. One thing is certain, he's not allowed to touch her. General Kylar is commander of the Guardian tasked to check out a Grolix establishment on AS-Seven. As his warriors storm the premises, the Grolix grabs Tara n locks them in his bedroom. When the door is finally opened, the Grolix is dead with a knife in his chest. Kylar looks at the female who stares back at him before resuming a slave posture. Another amaZing story by the author with a lot of twists n turns.
Crave makes a great follow up to Taken, the author's first novel in this series. Tara and Kylar's story stands on it's own, but the world building begun in Taken carries over into Crave. Again, Hattie Jacks has delivered a well written, meaty novel with multiple elements: danger, intrigue, suspense, humor, romance and steam. After multiple hours of pleasure reading a book that does not follow a "cookie cutter" format, I arrived at a happy ending for Tara and Kylar. I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series. If you haven't discovered the Haalux Empire yet, read both of these books. I don't think you will regret it.
Contemplating over ..had to read straight after ‘Taken’ geesh again could not put down, each page engaging. General Kylar is egotistical, arrogant and old school badass. Tara orphaned at a young age, grew up hard because of her intelligence and sassy attitude. Abducted, about eight months pregnant she is rescued by the general. The storyline had me hooked with its twists, the general mating issues and Tara’s relationship issues. The main characters are both hard-case however match when it comes to their bedroom activities. Love how the author introduces the main characters for the next book ..which again contemplating to read next or soon .. 🤔
It’s a good book, she is abducted from earth and experimented on, he finds her and has no clue why he’s drawn to her, it is pretty quick pasted with their relationship although they t takes them awhile to accept their mating, there is a force called the unseen that abducted her and they try to get her back in the grand scheme of things and she has a hybrid baby, it felt towards the end it just kept being drawn out. There was no word on if they cured her, or if their child also possessed the powers the mother has, there is a lot of things I didn’t quite get answers for.
Great Story. Kylar is a General in the Haalux Empire. He and his warriors raid Pritan's, who's a Grolix, and find that one of the slaves is a very pregnant human. Pritan is dead and it's clear that Tara the little human killed him. This is a great story with lots of action, adventure, danger, fighting, fated mate, passion/lust and love. I highly recommend this story and I am looking forward to the story of Lexi and her Haalux warrior. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a well-written book 2 in The Haalux Empire Book Series was interesting and has amazingly well-thought out scenes, characters and storyline. These very well crafted characters have strong personalities, histories and believable interactions. This story has the following: intrigue, twists, turns, adventure, action, love, steam and a HEA. It is a well-paced and will keep you engaged from start to finish. I will be on the lookout for books by this author.

This book has so many twists and turns it will keep you turning the pages until the end. I finished it all in a single reading. There is plenty of action and a lot of heat. The attraction between the main characters will having you falling in love too. The author is descriptive enough you can see it unfolding in your head. It contains a dominate male and a feisty female with a HEA. If you are not a fan of these skip this book.

Tara is kidnapped by aliens and subjected to experimentation while she is drugged. Tara then becomes a slave to a nasty Grolix and finds out she is pregnant. When she hears combat she is in Pritan's safe room alone with him and stabs him with her hidden dagger when he decides it is time to assault her. Then the Haalux take her and the General imprisons her in his quarters.
Loved the book it was great, the story was written well and the characters were interesting. This story was about General Kylar and Tara. Tara has no connections on erth but conecrs with the aliens world. Pregnancy hormones, PTSD, betrayal, war, a mysterious symptom and a powerful enemy. On Haalux can Tara and Kylar find their happy life together.

Hattie Jacks is fast becoming one of my favorite Alien Romance writers. Her characters are always so engaging and fun to read about. The action never stops and the sexy times are fire! The world building is so interesting, always something different and wonderful. Tara was a powerful human female who brought Kylar, her alien general to his knees. I was a exciting read that I read in one night because I just had to see what came next.
Heroines. As well sly digs into Yankee ways at the end. Not fan of most Dom males. Just skipped scenes and enjoyed rest of the story. Enjoyed reading of adventures. But felt like there should have been less of them and more of other parts. Such as freeing of residents of last planet. Would have been great if they found more of both of their species and others that could help them
The second book in the Haalux Empire series a well written story that held my interest throughout. Human Tara, and Haalux warrior General Kylar's story of suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, Unseen, and romance. The story was well worth reading. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I think this book is even better than book one! Kylar and Tara don't quite get along when they first meet. She thinks he is just another alien slaver and he thinks she is an enemy of the Empire with important knowledge. I love the growth that both characters go through before the final page in the book.
Another exciting book in this series I loved it. While it was a bit long it was richly detailed weaving a magical story of kidnapping, betrayal, evil intentions, overcoming past traumas, new fledgling feelings, learning to trust love and one's own judgement with tons of drama and emotional highs and lows. I highly recommend this series.
This has the general from the end of Taken and another earth kidnap victim. She gets kidnapped again and of course the General heads to save her. The Unseen really want her back as they experimented on her and they want the baby badly. There are several new characters introduced at the end that will probably be in the next book.
