When Black tries to force a ring onto my finger, I bolt. I escape the pack leader’s clutches with Jonah, my best friend with benefits…who has become so much more. But then my body betrays me. My stupid wolf shifter hormones send me spiraling into my first heat only hours after I flee. Desire blazes through my veins until it’s so wild and fierce that it takes over my reality. It makes me hallucinate while I’m with Jonah and wish for things I don’t want. Like Black.
Black
Elena was stolen from me. No one steals from the Lobo pack, and no one ever steals from me. I’m going to hunt down whoever took her and punish them until they can’t even scream for mercy. The moon goddess better hide her face because I’m about to show the shifters who stole Elena that my soul can be as dark as my name.
Jonah
She picked me. The most perfect woman in the world chose me. I should be on cloud nine, but instead, I’m terrified. How the hell am I going to protect her with furious shifters from two different packs hunting us down?
Author’s Note: This is a dark ménage romance. Please read the author's note at the beginning of this book before you dive in.
Review 4.5 stars! I didn't think it could get any hotter than book 1 but Ann Denton took me by surprise !! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
This is the sequel to Defiant, an ADULT wolf-shifter romance (18+) with an MFM relationship. This series was my first time reading an omegaverse romance and I must admit its my new guilty pleasure and I need book 3 asap!! For those who enjoy smut, ménage, age gap romance, dominant/submissive dynamics, all mixed together in a magical wolf-shifter world.
I received a gifted copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review as part of the book tour hosted by Lovebookstours.
》》 TRIGGER WARNINGS 《《 Defiled is the second book in the Feral Princess series by Ann Denton and was much better than the first book in the series. Elena is on the run with Jonah from Black and the Lobo pack. Not long into their escape, Elena goes into her first heat and Jonah ends up having to pull over and find a safe place for them to hide out as well as sating Elenas needs. They then experience a mating bond and their love is so sweet and tender towards each other. But Black has claimed her as his omega and is on the hunt to find them. Luckily he arrives just in time as the loved up pair have been scented by another pack who are closing in on Elena. Black is seen in a very different light in this book compared to book 1 and I liked him much better this time round. He's less arrogant obnoxious and selfish too. This book ended on a cliff hanger and I'm so desperate to find out what will happen in book 3! Definitely check out the authors trigger warnings as this book may be very triggering to some readers.
Storyline: Picks up where we left off and is an exciting action packed read.
FMC: Elena does not get any better however. She is hard to read (like literally) at times there were moments I wanted to rip her from the pages and do a re-write.
MC: Black is just as bad ass as he was in book 1. Dark, twisted and sexy as hell.
MC (2): Still weak and again if not for him and Elena this would be a bas ass read.
Please make sure to read the author's note before you dive into this title. She makes sure to list the possible triggers ignited by Defiled. TRIGGER WARNINGS: Dubious Content, forced marriage, kidnapping. This title may be triggering for some readers.
I binged read this book. I loved that book 2 picked up exactly where Book 1 left off. Jonah is on the run with Elena after she had been kidnapped by Apha Black. They are being hunted and they need to find a place to hide. During this escape, Elena goes into heat... which immediately cause Jonah and her to experience that mating bond. They are in love and I am here for it! Black finds them, decides to take them both back to his home. This is where we see more of the MFM relationship evolve, Elena and Jonah are apprehensive in the beginning but in order to protect each other they give in.
I was shocked by Black's development, he actually starts paying attention to what Elena likes. He goes to Jonah for advice on this topic. Since Jonah has always been there for Elena, he never pushed, he let things flow and I love that! Black slowly starts to let Elena in, they start spending time together which creates a bond. During this book we see a different side to Black, although he is very sex driven and he is definitely an Alpha male, he takes a turn and wants Elena to accept him.
This book definitely has scenes that may be triggering for some, please make sure you are comfortable with the content prior to diving in. The sex was SPICY, Elena has two men and she doesn't know what to do. She is confused with this whole situation but is enjoying it at the same time. The book ends in a cliffhanger! I have my theories, I must know! So much unraveled towards the end of the book in a war for territory that it will make your head spin.
Thank you so much to the author for sending this title my way! All opinions are my own.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I remember the time I already started blushing when things were vanilla. I remember the time I assured people that all the extreme stuff was not for me. I even remember how I always said that omega verse was totally not my thing. And then I discovered the sweet verse, which was my first step into the genre, and then I got an arc for the first book in this series and then I got my arc for this one. Maybe I'm less vanilla in my reading needs than I always thought.
This book was intense. All three main characters were dealing with so many emotions and Denton really manages to write them down amazingly well. Where quite often intimate scenes end up being descriptions of what body part goes where, Denton makes them about the emotions, about the effect they have on the characters, about what it all means and does to them, how it screws with their minds and how they're discovering new things about themselves and their feelings.
However, it's not only during the intimate scenes that our characters grow and learn so much. Especially in this book the characters try to connect on a more emotional and personal level too. They have actual conversations about the things that are important to them and they're learning to see each other as more than their stereotypes. Elena is not just an Omega, Jonah is not just a Beta and Black is not just an Alpha.
Although the emotions of the three main characters and their growing and blossoming relationship is the main focus, I'm also glad that the politics are not entirely forgotten. Black took over a new pack and it's not as easy as it should be. He's constantly trying to balance his needs, Elena's needs and the needs of his pack. The struggle is amazing to witness and I'm already looking forward to the next book, where the fight between the packs will certainly reach its peak!
The story in Defiled picks up right where the previous book left off. I won’t go too far into details as to avoid spoilers, but this let us have some great moments between Jonah and Elena that I really enjoyed. However, things get complicated when Black comes into the picture once again.
I have to say I’m intrigued by the dynamic that begins to establish between Jonah, Elena and Black. Jonah and Black couldn’t be more different, but their shared interest in Elena makes for some interesting scenes between the two males that make me curious to see more. And of course, we also have some intense scenes with the three of them together that were very spicy. I’m pretty sure this is the first time I read a threesome, but I thought it was very well written.
There were some instances where I found it difficult to like Black, but this book helped me understand this character so much more, and I appreciate his willingness to look back on his past actions where Elena is concerned and realize that he may have overstepped. His isn’t a complete transformation, but while I perceived him more as a villain in the first book, I see him more as a morally gray character now. This book definitely puts the bases for an even better relationship in the third book.
Again, before you pick up this series be mindful of the trigger warnings. The biggest are the dubious consent, humiliation and forced marriage. Also, this book contains a threesome, so be sure it’s the kind of spicy content you’re comfortable reading.
Thank you to the author for sending me a copy! Opinions are my own.
Book 2 starts where book 1 left off. Storyline is great in book 2, It was good to see the story progress as the characters gradually learn more about each other and themselves I did enjoy this book. Of course there was another cliffhanger. Which I’m hanging for dear life lol Loved this if you want loads of sex then this is the book lol Really need to read the next book
Defiled is right. I devoured this so fast, I couldn't put it down. It started off where book 1 ended it was fast paced and amazing. There was a lot of smexy times a whole lot of fighting but dayyyyyyyyng I Floved it!!
Much like its predecessor, DEFILED was a very quick and engaging read, and I even enjoyed it a little bit more than Defiant. Before I continue with this review, however, I do want to remind you about the trigger warnings that you’ll find in the author’s note at the start of the book, which include dub-con, humiliation, forced marriage and MFM relationships. The series is very entertaining and sexy, but also quite dark, so please only approach it if you’re comfortable with the content.
The story picks off exactly where Defiant left off, with Elena and Jonah running away and Black left to find out of Elena’s disappearance. As with the first book, the main focus of the story was very much dedicated to the relationships between these three characters rather than the plot, and the complex and intricate nature of these bonds are what make the read so appealing. I will admit, there were still moments where Black’s attitude made me feel uncomfortable, but I appreciated the space the author gave her characters to grow and better themselves in this sequel. Black, who was my least favorite of the three in Defiant, ended up becoming the biggest surprise in Defiled. Does he turn into a saint? No. But at least he acknowledges the less-than-ideal circumstances of his relationship with Elena and the excessive nature of his actions. He makes an effort to understand her and give her space, which I appreciated very much.
Black’s change in attitude allowed me not only to appreciate the scenes with Elena more, but also the ones with Jonah. I may have enjoyed the interactions with these two men even more than the scenes of the three of them together. They’re still far from being friends, but there’s an understanding and respect between them, united by their shared love for Elena. I loved the bonding moments, and hope to see the already great chemistry between the three characters grow even more in the future.
As I said before, the plot takes a backseat to the romantic entanglements, but that doesn’t mean it’s not there! The tidbits of plot we got hint at a great rivalry blooming within the werewolf packs, and it explodes into a shocking finale! The cliffhanger is brutal, and I’m very excited (and nervous) to see where the next book will go.
Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy to review. All opinions are my own.
The story continues in such an amazing way. Elena and Jonah are currently on the run in this book, which picks up right where the first left off. In my opinion, this book is pretty steamy from the get-go because there is so much action right from the start and you never know if they will fight. My favorite thing about the book is the strong dynamic between the characters as each learns how to navigate this strange trio they seem to be in, and how to meet both their wolf and their human needs. Shifters and the tension between their two sides are presented differently by the author in this book. It’s the cliffhanger for me, Im, trying to figure out what's going to happen next in my mind. I cannot wait to read the next installment. This book was a breath of fresh air from all the hardcore I’ve been reading.
PLEASE READ THE TRIGGER WARNING BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO READ THIS BOOK! The author does a fabulous job of listing those, which I greatly appreciate! So please make sure you are able to handle those things before you start this series.
Defile started up where book one ended. We see Elena and Jonah on the run, trying to escape Alpha Black. I did not blame Elena for wanting to leave him because I too had an extremely difficult time finding the good in him. He made me uncomfortable for so long and it was so hard for me to find a redeeming quality about him. I thought I would struggle throughout the story.
However, I am pleased to say that Black's character growth is really amazing and something I'm happy I stuck around for. Does his trauma excuse him for how he acted and treated others? No, but even Black recognizes that in himself and he is truly trying to change because he realizes that he wants Elena in every way. He knows that she doesn't like alphas and he needs to be careful on how he treats her. It is not in his nature to act this way, but he is trying to better himself.
Elena also is trying to better understand Black. She realizes too that he is a human, mostly, with a traumatic past that made him the way he is. She begins to calm down as well. I do think a lot of the arguments could have been saved if they just talked to each other. But both characters are so stubborn!
Jonah is my favorite character. He is sweet and pure and I want to protect him at all costs. I am just going to ignore the ending of this book because it hurt my soul a little, and believe jonah is going to get the ending he deserves.
This picks up where Defiant left off. As we found out, Elena is a rare type of wolf, an Omega. One that any alpha would love to get their hands on. Her and her Beta boyfriend makes a break for it, to save her from clutches of Alpha Black. What she didn't expect was to have serious repercussions of her actions.
Holy sh*t! What a continuation this was. Huge character developments were made in this story. I literally binged both books in two days. This one had me crying for Jonah. As much as I really loved Black, Jonah has my heart. Relationships have grown and I am truly emotionally invested in another series. I can't wait to read more of this story!
Hot! Hotter than hot! This is one of those stories you can’t help but devour, but you definitely want some privacy. I loved how the author connected me to the characters. The ending is anxiety inducing and I cannot wait until the next book!!
I could round up or down on this one depending on my mood. I enjoy this trilogy but I am not blown away by it either. I am highly interested in the dynamic between Elena, Black and Jonah and wish there were more showing scenes of their lives, and ones that explore their relationship, as well as scenes that show this wolf shifter world. There is not enough world-building but I can tell if both of those things were shown/built in detail it would be a VERY good story. As it is there is a lot of telling, but at least it is in a way that keeps me reading and interested enough to enjoy the reading experience, as the author has a good voice. I know darkness is subjective but as a voracious dark romance reader this trilogy doesn't even register as dark on my scale at all, so if you are like me the warning at the front of the book will make you scratch your head a little. It ends on a major cliffhanger but the third book is on pre-order for late January so not long to wait now.
My feelings are pretty middle of the road about this book. Most importantly, by the time I reached the end, I was re-invested and interested in finding out what happens in book three. So, obviously, I didn't hate the whole thing. But there was a large chunk of the middle in which I simply wanted to stop reading the book entirely. I hated Black. I'm still not a fan, if I'm honest.
Yes, he's an anti-hero that isn't supposed to be overly-likeable. But part of the fantasy that make dub-con readable for me is that the imposed upon party secretly wants or enjoys what is happening. That's what makes it dubious and not straight out coercion and/or rape, in my opinion. But here we had three people, two of which legitimately thought they were going to be killed by the third, even as they had sex. There was no joy, secret or otherwise, in it for me. Black was just cruel and even the author's attempt to make him broken, instead of villainous didn't fully redeem him for me. I couldn't find anything to appreciate in the angry, "I don't want her to enjoy it" sex they had and I thought the turn around from enemies to not was too abrupt. I really needed there to be a conversation between the parties. So much of the drama is based on assumptions and miscommunications and I feel like the author is just skimming past it, instead of addressing it. But it is a scene I really want to read.
Having said all that. I still adored Jonah. He's the lubricant that makes everything work. I liked that Elena loves him so fiercely and that Black is also being forced to appreciate and accept him. I still find the writing easily readable and look forward to reading book three, if in a somewhat baffled at myself sort of way.
Is this book going to win any awards? No. But it was a fun way to pass the time. This is the 2nd book in The Feral Princess series. I’m gonna digress here for a moment to discuss the series title. . . why are they referring to her as “feral? She’s anything but. She’s an omega whose wolf disappears on her all the time and she can’t shift. She’s a doormat to her heat cycles, which I guess is an expected occurrence in the omegaverse genre.
This book picks up right where book 1 left off. Our FMC, Elena and her FWB/bestie Jonah are on the run from her alpha, Black. And to make matters worse, she goes into her first heat. For those of you new to the Omegaverse genre, things can get a bit uncomfortable during an omega’s heat. They run solely on hormones and are a prisoner to those urges. Consent is really not a thing at this point so if you don’t like dub con or even non con stories, you will not like this book. And this is OV lite too!
One bright light in this book, and series, is that we are not stuck in Elena’s head for the entire book. I found Alpha Black’s thoughts and emotions saved the book for me. Knowing how tentative he was about the whole situation, and how much his feelings were hurt really illustrated why men suffer in silence a lot in relationships. Wanting to be a strong alpha of his pack, but realizing that his mate needs tenderness too, and the struggle to balance that to truly win over his mate was an enjoyable push/pull. And Elena’s other mate, Jonah is so sweet. Being able to get in his head too and realize that he’s the yin to Black’s yang and Elena needs BOTH of them to feel whole made the book for me.
I do plan on reading the next, and final, book in this series. This is a good book, it’s just not a great one.
OH MY GOODNESS, I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE TO START WITH THIS REVIEW. So here is the second book in the Feral Princess series. Book one left us wondering what was going to happen. Elena and Jonah are on the run except when something happens to Elena that stops them from going anywhere. Obviously we know that Black is beyond mad and is searching for his fiance. So as you read this you will see a different side of all characters. We see why Elena acts the way she is and the same goes for Black. Jonah seems to be the one to bring about the change. However, it makes you wonder what what both Black and Elena feel about him. I mean we get some indication but not enough. This is also a fast burn so we get a lot of steamy time. As the story progesses we see the changes but you will be wondering when the other foot drops and when it does. HOLY COW you are left shocked and stunned. So we end with this huge cliffy and now have to wait to see what happens next. This is a great book to read and you will love it.
I think I liked this book more than book one. Book one all happened in one or two days and this one covered probably about two weeks. So I liked that there was actually more going on and there was more to the plot of the book. I will say that near the end of the book Black actually became a more likable character. I also think Jonah is just such a sweetheart and I love him so much. Elena is going through a lot of different emotions and I loved that Black finally started to notice those a bit more. I will say it bugged me how fast he switched from denying what she was to him to being completely okay with it.
The ending of this book just can't be real. I need to read the next book ASAP so I can find out what happened because it just can't end that way.
Well i genuinely disliked Black in the first book. Some of what he did and his attitude just annoyed me but in this book my opinion did i complete 180. We find out more about his background and how that colours his life now. Jonah and Elena spend time together working out where they stand. There are plenty of steamy scenarios especially with Black in full on Dom mode. It felt i saw a different side to all the main characters which i really liked plus the dynamic between all of them. It also finished with one hell of a cliffhanger ending! Im really enjoying reading this series. Its a cracking read
Dark & Complex plus totally addictive! Normally i wouldnt expect this book to be my type of thing but the way Ann does it totally is - there is some amazing hate sex and the dynamic between the 3 m/c's grows beautifully. We start to understand Black more as we see his past plus he has a vulnerable edge which is endearing and Elena i think starts to see a different side to him as he try's to treat her like the person she is rather than a possesion plus Jonah has an unexpected role So many twists and turns which are amazing as is the ending - Cant wait for the next book!
So we carry on from where book one left us and omg it does not stop! Fast paced and action packed, full of drama, angst and so much steam! The storyline continues to grow and develop as do the characters and their relationships and just as you are getting into it, it ends!! When’s book three out please?
Book hooked yet again. This book was so hot and steamy and holy crap. I loved this book. I can’t wait to read the next one because I’m addicted to this series. Holy wolves I was not expecting that ending at all. I’m still in shock over this. I hope something bad doesn’t happen to her. I’m worrying until I read the next book now. I honestly think this might top or at least be close to Rory Miles Cliffies.
Ann you have worked some dark magic with these characters!! I loved to hate Black in Defiant, thought Jonah was a push over and Elena was a bit selfish but wow.
The character growth and development is absolutely astounding. If you do not love Jonah, whole heartedly by the middle of this book what planet are you on? Jonah has an inner strength that is essential to aiding the growth of both Black and Elena. He is able to bridge the communication gap between two of the stubbornest individuals thanks to his deep understanding and love of Elena. He knows where Black can offer more than him, he is able to worship her where Black can protect her, they're like two sides of the same coin.
Elena actually amazes me at the level of maturity she eventually shows , once she gets more background on Black and starts to understand where his behaviours come from. This new depth to their relationship really helps cement a new foundation for them all to begin on in book 3.
Black is and always will be an alpha Ahole but he actually has a heart that beats for Elena but is terrified of history repeating itself. He lays his life on the line for Elena multiple times even though he's heartbroken by her betrayal, or what he perceives as her betrayal.
There is so much steam and hate seggs that you can't help but want need much more. Elena's love of Johna puts Black in unknown territory when it comes to this relationship but soon discovers that it has its advantages.
The ending broke my heart, there are so many possibilities but I have Faith in Ann that she won't break my heart completely, maybe just fracture it a bit. I need more, I need depraved now.
When requesting an ARC for Denton's novel, I knew I would be leaving my comfort zone. With a title such as 'Defiled' one can only wonder what is in store, Denton writes a dark romance that follows our incredible and strong heroine. The writing style was compelling, Elena was my favourite character - I felt for her during her darkest moments, unfortunately I didn't like Black but for all the reasons that Ann wrote him that way. He was arrogant and everything an Alpha is typically shown as. One moment, in particular, I found well-written was when Black interpreted Elena's response as being happy but from her POV, she was the complete opposite. Denton did a fabulous job of interpreting the typical domineering male wolves who are Alphas, it was nice to see the hierarchy between them and their Betas in the pack.
Part of me wishes that the book wasn't called 'Defiled' purely because the word is filled with such sadness but the book explores dark matters, it was an experience to read. I wanted Elena to run away by herself and leave everyone. As a result, I did rate this book three stars, only because I didn't find myself warming to any of the love interests unfortunately and some parts of the book were tough to read about.
I haven't read a wolf-shifter romance in years and it was fun to delve back into that world. I would like to thank the author and Love Book Tours for gifting me this copy in exchange for an honest review.
Please note that this book contains dark themes, please be sure to check trigger warnings.
Thank you to love book tours and Ann Denton who very kindly provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
If you thought the first book was spicy then damn you are in for a ride with this book. Ann is taking things to a whole new level and I’m not going to lie, I’m not mad about it.
Don’t get me wrong I did enjoy this book but I think that it needed more focus and development on the plot and actual story because to be honest most of the book was just spice. Which is ok, but after the first book I was expecting a little more.
I did also find Elena a bit annoying in places in this book, I found that she wasn’t the same character I loved from the first book as much. I was wanting more development in her character yet I feel like we lost some if that makes sense.
I can’t say that I am in love with Jonah I just found him a bit pathetic in places honestly and wanted to shake him and tell him to go and get the girl. However, at other times he was kinda cute though so I’m just feeling kinda meh about him really.
Overall I did enjoy this book but I think I went into it with pretty high expectations after reading the first book so it fell a little flat for me unfortunately.
A huge thank you once again to @anndentonauthor and @lovebookstour for my #gifted copy of this book for #defiledtour
I loved Defiant (book 1) but our main male character Black, really made me mad and so I didn't feel like I could give the full 5 stars. He still infuriates me but I officially like him! Grrr! Defiled is definitely so much more better than book 1 and I'm shocked at how it can be as first book really was great.
Defiant is steamy af and.....it's a reverse harem and I am so friggin happy!!!! This book is so kinky and yes it's a dark romance, yes it certainly has some issues- especially with scenes of dub-con but this is generally a romance that does have a hea. I love that this is a shifter romance and gosh I felt this book gave me a lot more wolf content and I'm so chuffed Elena's wolf finally is showing her face. Like I said in the first book of this series review, I really liked side characters Jonah. This book he has a big part in the story and is now our 2nd male main character. In the end of the first book Elena and he runaway. Start of this book they've escaped and so far not being followed by the pack or Black, but bless Elena and awful timing she goes into heat. Jonah is absolutely fantastic with that situation and I just absolutely love the scenes of these two characters. Jonah knows Elena inside and out, and their bond is definitely unbreakable. Jonah cares for Elena and is so attentive and gentle with her. They are steamy when it comes down to it, but Jonah does it in a loving, devoted way too. I just adore him and I'm still amazed at how he will willingly share Elena too. That lad will do absolutely anything for her, he's more loyal to her than his pack leader and that's saying something! Elena is still our sarcy, badass and I just love her even more as I watch her journey. She's strong and doesn't back down and with all the stuff that's been thrown at her, she doesn't let it smother her or break down. I love that her wolf has started to show again and I had a right laugh when she started to call her wolf Fluffy. Just shows to us readers at what a care free, fun lass she is. I genuinely want her as my bff! Black...oh Black....the alpha whose controlling and a massive arsehole. Well I will chew my arm, he has officially grown on me. I don't love him like Jonah quite yet, but I am liking him now. He really is an equal match to Elena and there banter is just the best I've read and seen ever. For me Blacks character is the one that went on the biggest self journey. He's not changed in a way that he's a complete different person, but he's learning his mistakes and rectifying them. When we get a bit more of a backstory about him, it makes me understand him and his controlling and possesive ways. Elena understands him better and has managed to knock Blacks walls down and at the same time he's realised things about Elena too. It's clear Black loves Elena, but instead of claiming and forcing her, now he will make sure everything that happens is Elena's choice and no-one elses.
Romance in this book is steamy than book 1. Like there is ALOT... all nighters, sex swing, threesomes you name it it's probably there. This is tonnes more than 50 shades of grey...can you imagine a book more sexier than that!? I didn't think so either but we have it! This is very much sex from start to end so if that's not your thing then this isn't for you. I did wonder if it would be too steamy for me, but you know what I loved it. Just definitely read it alone...not near wandering eyes haha! I love the reverse harem and I'm intrigued to see how it plays out, will it stick to these 3 in a relationship or will it be just the one and of so who?
I also like that this story also shows that the wolves are being tormented by an enemies son from book 1. It's got that mystery element and you're certainly tensed wondering what's going to happen next. It's clear Black still can't relax because the other wolf packs are still after him and his pack. This time it's not just fights but it's become a mental torment...will be interesting to see how Black gets out of this scenario.
Denton really is a fabulous author. I felt this story answered more of my questions from book 1 and then gave me more. I was once again captivated in this story and read this book in a space of a few hours. Defiled has everything I love when it comes to supernatural romances and for that subgenre it's definitely become one of my faves. That cliffhanger had left me shook and I don't want to wait till Jan 2022 to get book, it's too long for me too wait! A smasher of a book and if this is your kinda book, I urge you to get it!
