Until this one I really liked the series but the character change for Ninrir, Fel and Mukohda really pisses me off. Ninrir is degraded to basically nothing but pain, Fel has become a spoiled jerk and Mukohda is just a crying baby. In previous books the volume of their shortcomings was fine and good but this one is over the top and I am really disappointed. I give a shot for the next, but if it doesn't change, ill drop the series
I had to keep reminding me that it's a schtick, but Fel and Dora-chan's obnoxious, rude, asshole-y behaviour towards Mukhouda is just meant for a laugh, otherwise I might be done with this series for now. But seriously, Mukhouda is too much of a pushover that at times the hilarity of it starts to wear thin. That aside, I still do not find myself tiring of the escapades and the food, so I will definitely carry on with the series.
Especially since the next book will be a major dungeon dive!
Mukouda is too much of a doormat and his pushy, entitled familiars and various gods have passed the bounds of funny into irritating. It would be impossible to keep them fed at the rate they consume meat, I don’t care how much they hunt.
I also see zero reason he needs to consult with them about donating some of his absurdly large fortune. The value of money is a little inconsistent IMO, but he has virtually unlimited funds. The kids not being afraid of Fel and Dora are funny, but it makes no sense except to insert comedy. The descriptions of the offerings and food end up being boring, so I’m starting to skip those…
The bit with the Japanese sage guy was also absurd. What kind of stupid diary is that to leave behind? 🙄 and while the portable teleportation spell sounds interesting, didn’t it say the further you jump, the more complex the circle must be, to account for that? With unknown distances, how can a simplified circle work?

By this point in the series, multiple of the primary characters have become so asinine as to greatly detract from the overall story. It's not character progression, it's character transformation into an overly aggressive abusive personality. Considering there is nothing even close to a resolution by this 10th volume, and in consideration of the degradation of the characters, I have to say it's really not worth the time to read this series.
The familiars and gods/goddesses are still selfish bullies who don't care/respect MC as an actual person, only what food & drinks they can extort from him. And MC is still a whiny scaredy cat pushover. He doesn't even respect himself, let alone implement personal boundaries, have some confidence & stand up for himself.
Mukohda goes on another adventure again a.k.a to the hardest dungeon! He finally went out of the kingdom of Leonhardt, and heads to Erman. First off, and honestly, that's quite nice. It shows the friendly relations between the kingdoms. I wonder what they relayed to each other regarding Mukohda and his familiars. I'm really curious how they talked about Mukohda haha!
What made an impression on me the most in this book in the series is I do agree he has so much money now, it's ridiculous. All the more since Mukohda seems to be the type to spend in moderation, if not frugally, on himself. He rarely buys for himself, save for the random coffee, tea, beer or bath salts and those don't cost much, really. He spends more (most) on his familiars. He doesn't hold back on spending on others and at present, he really just made one-time purchases here and there that honestly doesn't affect his wealth much. Even I was thinking what he's gonna do to all that money. And really, it's nice that he's come to the decision of giving back to society. That part of the book was really heartwarming, to be very honest. I loved reading the chapters on those parts.
The next part is dungeon-diving again and I'm quite excited to read more!
*Placeholder for volume 10 of the manga as it was just released today*
This is the very few anime to manga transition that I've done. Meaning that after watching the available anime, I wanted more of the story so I decided to read manga. I started from where the anime ended though. I read the first volume and the anime did really well in following the manga closely.
It's really worth it.
Although it's just about an isekai-ed person with an "unusual skill" and a his bunch of gluttonous contracted familiars going through places just to eat various exotic monsters through our-world cooking methods, it just isn't boring for me. It helps that there's food porn, the characters are not annoying (except for those gods and goddesses with bratty attitudes that were added just to have those kind of staple Japanese characters; cool with the blessings though), and there's a variety of monsters to choose from.
It just rinse and repeat in every place they go to (subjugation/elimination quest, get monster meat butchered, cook the dish for the day, then get the monetary rewards from sale of monster parts, bonus level, rank, reputation level-ups) though, so I don't know if they can keep up the momentum or it plateaus somewhere and becomes stale.
For now, I'll just quietly enjoy this adventure/slice of life story. First time I've laughed in some time.
Reading this series imparts a feeling of peace and relaxation for some reason. The author has managed to stay consistent in his writing even up to this 10th volume so kudos to him.
In this book, it's business as usual for Mukohda and his familiar; Fel the Fenrir, Dora the dragon, and Sui the special slime. They're traveling about (Mukohda is getting dragged around) looking for delicious beasts to eat hunt. They managed to make it all the way to the next kingdom this time where high-level dungeons await. In his forced journeys, Mukoda comes across two interesting new characters; one long dead but whose autobiography leaves an interesting tale, and the other an aggrieved guild master. It was fun reading about those two.
Other than that, all else is the same. Mukoda prepares food, the three familiars badger him for more, the gods and goddesses exercise their voyeuristic and materialistic tendencies and all is right in the world.
We have some lore / world building in the form of Kazuki the Sage’s autobiography, which was really interesting! (Though really 3 wives? Come on). (Don’t get me wrong, I like polygamy, but not when it’s all one directional - the guy has multiple wives, but the wives aren’t into each other. It happens all the time in anime…)
A new dungeon approaches! Also a new Tennent should be showing up next volume! Also also Mukohda seems to have finally figured out what to do with his surplus of money (spoilers: donations!).
Only 2 more books to go before I catch up to the end of currently published novels for this series. Whooo! What a journey.
An amazing volume. Mokouda truly knows how much orphanage needs help and his heart goes to the right places. I’m liking the fact that people around Mokouda are being appreciated towards him. Kinda reminds me of him becoming godlike. He will live a long life and help others unlike the three other heroes.
There was a lot of filler to tie up loose ends. But over all it was very good. A few points went on a little long. In summary I'd recommend this book and the series as a whole is pretty good.
I've actually continued to enjoy this and I'm eager to see what happens next in volume 11! It's quite the cliffhanger at the end of the volume as he's about to go into a dungeon that sounds way more dangerous than the ones they've been to so far.
Shenanigans continue as Mukohda and the familiars make their way to the next big dungeon. Fel and Dora-chan work very well together, especially when they want something from Mukohda lol. To be fair though, he’s very easy to bully
most lns are power fantasies and the power that many seem to fantasise about the most seems to be being in a position power and making sure that your subordinates have a healthy work-life balance and are well paid.
I love this series! Binge Worthy. The adventures, escapades and food! Love the characters. I can’t wait for the next one! Thank you author and editors.
