Let them call me what they want, I know the truth. It all begins with the music, it follows me everywhere I go. Living as if every day is my last, I stand on the edge of life and death. Now everything around me is changing, dancing to music that’s not my own. My world is slowly falling apart because my friends are changing the rules.
Then it happens. FML. One night I can’t remember and I’m left with no other option but to have a bodyguard, one I’d much rather throw in a ditch. Well, until I see who it is.
Jazzy
My mother’s death has tainted everything but the music from him. Looking for a way to escape the cloying darkness around me, I run into the very man I admire and discover someone is after his life. Despite the consequences, I decided to help him, putting my own life in danger.
Playing bodyguard to a star shouldn’t be too hard… unless that star has little respect for his life and demons in every closet. It doesn’t help that he’s focused on getting rid of me. Little does he know, he’s not getting rid of me until after I’ve made sure the people after him are gone.
Neither of us were prepared for the instant attractions that stirred between us. Yet we have two problems. One of us isn't who we say we are and we're both trying to run away from their past. Will we come together in harmony or fall apart in dissonance?

Ivy Harper is an avid coffee drinker and storyteller. When not being a complete addict to either of these obsessions, she is binging Chinese historical dramas with the family or coming up with new ways to prank her sister.
Living as a virtual night owl, she has made it a hobby to live on the dark side of the moon. From highlighting the delicious gothic love her characters experience, to thoroughly immersing her readers in a book they will surely shiver from.
Ivy hopes to bring her readers along with her on the twisted, winding path of romance and sensuality that you'll find yourself craving more than a hot black, cup of coffee.
This book did not become interesting until about 60% into the reading. I am disappointed at how hard the ladies say they have been working on these books and bragging about how great they are and this is the final product. Tak and Jazz acted more like teenagers than grown adults that are in their late twenties early thirties. Jazz being a total fan girl was annoying. Tak goth/idc attitude is cute for a 12 year old. Tak and Jazz did have great chemistry and I loved their banter. Jazz is bad ass when she wants to be. It showed more near the end of the book. I rolled my eyes especially when we discovered Jazz was a virgin. Like seriously? I'm a little hesitant to read the next book. So far 2 out of the 3 books in this series have been horrible.
I was eagerly anticipating this 3rd installment in the series. The first two stories were fiyah this one not so much. I'm not familiar with this author but maybe she needs more experience. The cadence of the writing is abrupt. The character's aren't well developed or very likeable. It's like an ugly baby. You want to say it's cute but it's just not. I'd skip this installment and wait for Deacon's story which I already know is going to be amazing. I also am expecting good things from Rhet and Kelex's stories. I guess they can't all be winners.
Overall rating is a generous 3.5. Honestly can't understand why this book was 52 chapters it definitely could of been shorter. Simply put I didn't care to much for this read and by the time I was starting to it was over.
... the first two books in the series were much less full of needless details, to the point of the goodness, and more passionate/better love/sex scenes. I was happy to wrap this book up to the end and wait for the next to be ready...which from what I read is being held up by Amazon for some reason.
Okay I will first say read this book for yourself and present your own thoughts…
With that being said this book was slow getting to the meat and bones, it was confusing and could have gotten to the point much sooner, a lot of fluffier filled the pages and the reader doesn’t get to the good part of the story until like 80% into the book and then everything started flying at you so quick and we get a rushed ending. The ending of this booked that will lead into Deacons should have been developed more.
I truly hope Deacons, Rhet and Kelex books are well developed than the last two of this series.
Compared to the first two books of the series, this one wasn’t good. I immediately noticed inconsistencies between this story and the others, including Tak’s age, and it was downhill from there for me.
I didn’t like Tak’s character at all… nor most of the side characters associated with him, like his band mates, Chelsea his mgr, and Kole the record exec. Everyone is rude for no reason. They’ll meet someone for the first time and are condescending… for what? They also claim to be friends but have enemy-level vendettas against one another? In what world?? Tak is 30+ and actively plots on how to annoy everyone around him because he’s unhappy. Childish. He’s mean to Jazz because of his feelings for her. Childish.
This could’ve been better.

This book was held up a month after the release date and it was pretty disappointing. This storyline was moving at snails pace. It took me a lot longer to read because I kept forgetting about it. Nothing happened until the 75% mark. I don't like books that dump all of the goods on you at the end. There were things that still doesn't make sense. After this loooooonnnnggg start,it should make sense
Ms. Ivy delivered with Tak and Jazz! Their story was one of memories lost, and dealing with emotional and physical abuse. Jealousy and greed will try to separate them permanently. This was great book!💋
3rd installment of the A**hole Club was very disappointing. Here we have a grown man acting like a spoiled irresponsible brat, together with a somewhat entitled and reckless heiress forming a relationship. Tak and Jazz went to high school together, but he is now a famous musician, and she is his #1 fan. They are reunited when Jazz tries to steal Tak's car, and stumbles upon men trying to kill him. She takes it upon herself to adopt a false identity and become his bodyguard. Yes, there are reasons why the two behave the way they do, but the story was childish with a bunch of gaps in between. Also, his A**hole family played a minor role in the whole fiasco which was not very convincing, knowing how they are usually the go hard and ride or die bunch. This was not up to par with the other stories.
This third offering in the A-hole club series wasn't great but good. My first time reading this author and while I think there were good bones for a more cohesive story, things were bogged down by not enough moments of building connection between Tak and Jazz and too much external randomness that ultimately served little purpose but to add unneeded length (this one got sloooowwwww fast). I believe this is a first full novel by this author and she seemed to want to do ALL THE THINGS instead of just connect these two people authentically, which is a shame. The dueling family drama would have been more engaging had Harper just focused on just ONE family's drama and not tried both. Doing this left each incomplete and all over the place. It also seemed as if Harper was laying groundwork for future projects concerning Jazz's family but I'm not sure I care enough about any of them at this point. Because of all the fake identities, family, businesses and murder attempts drama, it felt as though the romance and connection between Tak and Jazz was a major afterthought. Saying that characters all of a sudden feel a connection with this stranger they met does not make it a substitute for FORMING a believable one. Too much telling and not enough showing of their romance but the opposite was the case for all the family and companies drama. Unfortunately, this happened with the last book in the series as well. It just felt rote and cold.
Additionally, I'm not sure how believable Jazz was as a bodyguard. I get that it's a thing that must happen for the book premise but goodness was it all a stretch. She's a rich girl that runs some kind of foundation or something but is also a thief and bodyguard lol. All this under 30 as well!!! Too too TOO much. Again, if Harper wasn't trying to do so much with unnecessary plot (and just focused on Tak being in danger and his family), Jazz could've just been a badass bodyguard and a foundation for the couple could have been explored more in depth. This also happened in the previous book with Syd who was running a business, being an EMT and still having the time and energy to train a world class fighter. Again, barely 30. I'm not sure if this group are all sharing character notes but the similarities are a bit glaring because Jazz and Syd also both knew the heroes (with the guys NOT knowing or remembering them) and lied about who they were and their motives in order to get close to them, which is still creepy and icky and not a foundation for love make.
I did enjoy that there seemed to be a bit more interactions and background about this so-called close Crew in Tak's book. Although I'm still baffled as to how these people are supposedly so close, yet know nothing about each other and don't trust each other enough to ask for help from each other. Tak even questions how these people are his "family" yet they don't truly know him and how he let that happen. It's weird. I did like the exchanges Tak had with both Deacon and Rhet so I'm looking forward to those books (and the mysterious Kelex). I think this author has talent and with better outlining of the core story and better editing to root out some spelling, grammar and syntax errors, she could become a regular read for me (this entire series definitely needs line edits because the number of mistakes of "you're" and "your" in this one especially was ridiculous lol). There was enough enjoyment here that I'll be keeping an eye out for what Harper tackles next. Maybe if it's her own story in her own series etc, things will be tighter and more cohesive.
A Must Read Book, beyond worth it, couldn't stop laughing.
Trust me when I say this book is SO worth it.
Tak and Jazz book is just too funny. I couldn't stop laughing when reading this book. I thought the two books before this one was funny, I was not ready for theirs.
Tak and Jazz has some back history together that Tak doesn't exactly remember.. Jazz on the other hand does and beacuse of Tak music help her get through a really rough time in her life. When Jazz see's Tak is in danger she takes it upon herself, with the help of her family memebers as well, to try to protect him and find out who is trying to murder him. When a chance to become his security guard opens up Jazz applies quickly, and with a werid interview she get the poistion. Oh! And I forgot to mention Jazz and one of her Cousin Trisha ( Who I absolutely LOVE ) is BIG time Fans of Tak Band. Jazz will not only be able to protect Tak, BUT also get to talk and work directly with her biggest Crush/Celeb.
Now let talk more about Tak. Tak is the youngest from the A$$hole club, and in the other books there was not much mention about him to much. He was just someone who was very, very much involve in the crash that lead these group of strangers to become friends... well family. Tak was having a hard time accepting that the other memebers of his family is falling in love and getting married. With having a harsh past like Tak you understand why. And for those who don't its the fact that he was basically abandon by his family. So he has a hard time believing in others.
Tak who is the main lead ( the vocalist ) of his band, really gives everyone, and I do mean everyone a hard time. Its so funny how he treats people. Esp. Ark who is one of his band memeber. Actually the way he treats ALL of his band memebers is hilarous. But at the end of it he cares greatly for her bands, and his manager ( chelsea ) and his label boss ( Kole ). But one thing that Tak hates is that they try to put security on him.. He likes to live wild and free, but Kole is not having that with the last couple of scandals that has happen. So that's were Jazz comes in and at first Tak was 100% against it, and was very determind to get her fired or have her quit. Well that was until he see's that Jazz is not taking his crap and is determine to stay. lol Jazz was just a type of sweetness that his taste buds was not ready for, but now that he got a taste he wasn't giving her up.
What I love the most is that at the beginning of all 3 books, they start from the scene of how they all met. I love that you get ot see from each person point of view. It seems to be a theme for this series and i'm freaking loving it!!
What I love the most about this book is that you see more of the other memeber that's kind of in the background of the other 2 books.
Seeing this has made me realize how some memebers are kidn of a lot closer to each other then other. But at the end of it they're all close. I love that you got a peak in on Deacon's character. And that you can really see that no one, and i do mean no one is trying to deal with Pit coming to there door to rip them a new one.
i highly reccommend this book.... well no this entire series to any readers that love comdey, alpha males and females, Females who is far from a damsel in distress and romance.
I really love this book and I can't wait to read Deacon's book, hopefully there's a book for Rhet as well.
Another thing that I can guarantee is I've now become a fan of Ivy Harper books. I look forward to reading more books bye her. ❤
The beginning of the book is confusing and it was a little difficult for me to make my way through at first and still don't really know what was going on outside of a car accident, Tak stealing a bag full of drugs from a high school dealer at a party, and his back getting damaged from what I presume was burning debris from the car wreck. Skittles and 4 others along with Tak become lifelong friends and then it's 14 years later.
Tak and Jazz, a reunite when they're in their 30s or 29 for her I think. He's the lead singer of a popular band, she's a super fan and obsessed with him. They knew one another in high school though he's forgotten but his music saved her from a dark time in her life. Jazz is also an heiress and a security expert, at least that's how she landed a job as Tak's bodyguard after watching him get knocked over the head and carried off by unidentified men. Just prior, Jazz had been trying to steal a car that day happened to be Tak's when he caught her in the act and chased her down. Lucky for Jazz, she was masked and her identity was unknown to Tak, too she got away which made it easier for her to pull off the bodyguard afterward. She's living in his house and their consistent contact turn into more.
Tak is a member of the assholes club but outside of an occasional bad attitude, some drug use, and the lack of a filter, he's not as bad as I expected. Tak and Jazz end up together in the end despite their introduction being him having one of his friends toss her fully clothed into his pool. Tak doesn't want a bodyguard/babysitter which is what Jazz is supposed to be with the exception of one day off. The rest of the book is Jazz trying to protect Tak and find proof that her dad killed her mom while running a business of her own which she visits infrequently while Tak is in danger. From unpacking Jazz's familial relationships (helpful cousins and step siblings) and trauma to Tak's familial relationships and childhood trauma while trying to find out who has it out for Tak's life is the rest of the book.
There are grammatical and spelling errors and incorrect word usage that made the read a little less enjoyable.
OH MAN THIS WAS A GOOD BOOK! Sooo... I read some of the other reviews about “how long it took for the “good part”; Tak and Jazz hvn sex”. (I’m figuring it’s because of the other books, and how the individual writer’s flow went) But up until now, Tak was a mystery. Why was he the way he was? Why was he at the race in Pit’s book but wasn’t drvn? Why was he so angry about his friends/brothers falling in love? Why was he so reckless with his life? Who hurt him so bad, he couldn’t feel happiness, but the undeniable need to hurt himself? All the “A**holes kinda made sense to me, but Tak. But, now... Chile, I got ALL my answers and then SOME. I’m glad it took til the 75%of the book to get to the “good part”. I’m glad I got to find out the WHY Tak is the way he is without the “good part” until towards the end. I loved Jazzy🙌🏾🥰! I loved how she CAME to be. I loved that she was a woman but also was such a “fan girl” of Tak’s. And her inner thoughts between her “fangirl” and her common sense was funny asl. Her being a fierce protector and also an innocent woman(virgin) and trying to keep her head above it all was also good And... how she and Tak were friends when they were young. The fact that both of them were sad, and mistreated by the very ppl who are supposed to love u, made them understand one another no one else could. As I said when I started reading this series, that I couldn’t wait to see how each magnificent and wonderful writer, would bring each character to life in their own way. Thank u Ms. Ivy for answering my questions and then some. Oh BAE BAE🥰🙌🏾, I’m here for ALL of it...lol. Next 🛑 Stop... DEACON! Great Job Ladies!!
This is book 3 of the A*hole series. If Pit is the King and Luke is the Prince, then Tak is the Baby. Tak is the youngest of the group. I wondered how he became a part of the club since he didn’t race with the others. This book should have came with a trigger warning. The book does mention suicide attempts and thoughts. To me Tak isn’t an a*hole he just is immature and has a lot of demons that he doesn’t know how to deal with. The story picks up at the bachelorette and bachelor parties for Skittles and Pit. Tak leaves the party and finds that someone is trying to steal his car. He chases the thief and ends up getting attacked. The car thief ends up saving him, but he doesn’t know what happened. Jazz is a heiress, hiding from her dad. She also has a huge crush on Tak. He unknowingly helped save her life. She ends up getting a job as his bodyguard-let the sparks begin! There are so many twists in this story. It was a great read and kept you guessing. The spicy scenes were on point!
He’s arrogant, brash, cocky, doesn’t care about anything but his music and his few people. He has no filter or self control. He’s scarred and traumatized. Really messed up in the head. His family is heartless. She’s gotta pay him back for saving her. She suffered great loss due to some questionable things that happened to a love one in her past. She hates her paternal family. She loves her maternal family. She has been betrayed, used, abused, lied to, etc. somehow she still pushes through. He was her light.
This two finally meet and they some how save each other while being made for each other. I always wondered about the tortured soul that was Tak. In all of the books he was the most mysterious and angsty. I have to say, this is my favorite book in the series yet because I was all about Pit and Skittles but Tak is the one. I can’t wait to read the others especially Kelex! Fantastic read!
I don't know this author's work. I probably will avoid her going forward.
There was too much going on. Jazz had major family issues. Tak had major family issues. And I wonder if the person will be revealed in the last book who has tried to kill 2 of the crew so far. Are they the same person?
With all the editing software that has grammar checks, there is absolutely no reason for some of these errors.
Their, they're, there. So many wrong. There was even a they're where it should have been there are. They and there aren't close to the same.
Your and you're. Accept and except.
I'm just glad the book is over though there were some good parts near the end.
And most troubling - plural words had apostrophes instead of a simple s to indicate it was plural. An apostrophe s denotes ownership.
First, let me start with...for those that feel he was being a spoiled, rich, woe is me character, really didn't read the story. The whole point of a great book is originality. This one had it in spades.
Now, for people that believe that the wealthy don't have problems, I honestly think you don't look at situations as human beings. Don't get me wrong many of their problems are superficial, but the same can be said for the middle class and poor, just look at the news. Anyways, his story only reiterated that you never know a person's pain until you have pulled back all layers, not just the surface. I applaud you 👏 for opening our eyes to possibilities and many adventures. Thanks ladies for this unique series. 🙌❤
A five star read and I loved every page. My heart went out to Tak cause he'd been battling his demons for a long time. Being bullied and beat up by his older cousin and abandoned by his parents would scar any one. The best thing to ever happen to him is meeting Skittles and the crew. They treated him like a little brother even though he acted like a lil bish sometimes but I guess it's understandable being he has abandonment issues. Jazzy is perfect for him. Not only is she a die hard fan and can protect him but she's an heiress. She had her own demons also and Tak singing is what helped her through her lowest. I'm glad Tak got his taste of love but I'm not convinced he's fully safe. Can't wait to see what Deacon is up to.💚💚
It took me a while to finish this book. This is the third installment of the A**hole series and I was really curious as to why Tak was so dark. The book didn’t disappoint with regard to learning about Tak and why he is who he is but it did leave more questions than answers. Like who was actually after him and why. I also feel like there is a huge back story to Jazz/Alicia and her family dynamic. I went looking for books with her family but was disappointed to find none. In any case I enjoyed the story once things picked up and was glad I decided to keep reading.
We’re Tak’s parents so involved in their own lives that they ignored their only child, and actually leave him to raise his own self? Jazz’s father wants what’s not his so he just takes it? Talk about living in your own ! The level of self centeredness that Harper displays is disheartening, but makes for good reading. Now who is behind trying to bring down the A- - hole Club? It’s like a dark cloud circling over their happiness. The cousins in Jazz’s family and Tak’s brothers and Skittles are just plain scary in the lengths that they will go for each other.
I absolutely loved Tak's story!!!!! This was definitely worth the wait. Tak's parents are horrible people!! How could they treat an innocent child like that and nobody tried to help me Jazz dad was no better but I am glad she had family to help her. In the end it worked out for them both. I wonder who this mystery man is? Now I need to reread the first two books and make some notes I have feeling this mystery man ties to them all. I am ready to read Deacon's story!
Tak is so freaking complex this had to cause Ms Ivy to pull out some hidden reserves to finish. It’s a great read and I would recommend this and the other two books in this series. There are so many layers to each person in this book. Look, I really could go on and on but I will just suggest you check it out for yourself I don’t think you will be disappointed. However, this book ain’t for the faint of heart so if you have a problem with cussing then this ain’t the one for you. It’s nasty and gritty but oh so damn good.
This was a great read. And who said two broken people can’t be happy together. I love that they both were struggling through things together at the same times in their lives. And those broken pieces made a masterpiece. Tak saving Alicia indirectly and then Jazz saving Tak unbeknownst to him. Neither wanted the others pity just acknowledgement you aren’t alone and you have me here now. Definitely reading this again. Making sure I don’t miss anything. Ready for the next parts. .......
Taj and Jazz were two souls united by a common neglect by their respective families. I enjoyed the telling of their stories and I especially enjoyed them working out the mysteries of who was attempting to make their lives miserable. It truly was sad to see how much misery both Taj and Jazz went through early on in their lives. This This book had all the elements, mystery, suspense, lots of drama and finally sex. Enjoyable to get all the A'holes together to help Taj get through his issues.
I am really enjoying reading these A**hole Club series each one written by different authors which blend so well into each that you would not know as each one is of a different character from the A** hole Club. This being my first read from this Author I was gripped from the beginning the length of the read is very good so it gives time for the character such as Tak to grow on you. Both the lead character dispite growing up from wealthy backgrounds are two loss souls of some sort. Can not wait to read the rest of the series well done ladies.
I loved a sister who is a bad a$$, the women in theses stories have me cheering for my sisters. I was like hell yea when I first read about Skittles, the other women were cool, but skittles remained Queen. Then reading Tak story and being introduced to Jazz, I’m like okay, but when she starts to hand a couple of people their a$$ I’m telling myself Skittles got bumped. Jazz is reigning Queen in my book. Don’t get me the sex scenes our hot, panty wetting even, I fell in love with Tak & Jazz. I’m going to really enjoy re-reading this one.
