Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.

I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.

There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.

Thank you for checking out my stories!

The Potteresque professors are to be forgiven as this is a brilliantly written tale.

mixed feelings...

the sample was interesting enough to convince me to buy.

i can't decide if the book is for young people or adults. i'm 62. my first impression was that it read like a poor man's, "harry potter." mage school? please. the familiars professor was very obviously hagrid, right down to his physical description.

i really don't appreciate the portrayal of elves as nasty, thieving little goblins.

i have never been in a world where everyone, "smirked" so much. it made for annoying reading.

i wonder if they have an editor, or if i'm the only person who noticed that the first mention of randall fargus' last name was actually, "flagg." that pulled me right out of the story; randall flagg was stephen king's bad guy in, "the stand."

one thing really bothered me: the fact that suddenly in book six they began to swear. they'd been doing perfectly well without it, and i was relieved that it didn't last long. it was a good enough story, but i am unlikely to spend any more money on anything by these particular authors.

as interated: mixed feelings.

Martha Carr has done it again!

I'm always a fan of Ms. Carr's character and world building skills, and she delivers again with Raven, Leander and the land of Lomberdoon.
Dragons, intelligent (if somewhat comically condescending, lol) creatures, have been suppressed for centuries, and used as war mounts.
Magic is the purview of mages, and have been for the same centuries. Now, magic is returning to the masses, with the incipient chaos making the populace lose it's mind.
It is left to four student mages at a southern Academy to help make it right.
With a varied cast of Characters (yes, a Capitol "C"), including a few you want to beat with a big stick, this is a very satisfying read, right up to the point you realize it's over, and you want more.
(Hey! Martha! Any chance we'll get a prequel of the Mom's adventures? Please?)

This review is about the series as a whole not any particular book from it. It starts really strongly. I adore world building which is not a new thing when it comes to those authors and I find the whole concept terrific! Finding freedom inside oneself, allowing yourself to feel it in your heart even when physical chains are already off. So it starts great but then it feels rushed. The unraveling is lackluster and the whole partys unending and unrelenting belief that the council needs more proof instead of a very obvious fact that they knew the truth and simply didn't want to do anything about it is unrealistic. A lot of people in this series had a huge trouble with not believing their own eyes and it got tedious.
Ofc the romance was awfully dull but I didn't exactly hope for anything more pearl clutching from these writers 🤔😅.

This is an 8 book series.

I couldn’t put it down. Lots to do in the last 7 days that didn’t get done.

Thank you Martha Carr for creating such an incredible world for us to get completely engrossed in.

You got my curiosity up so far, I’m hoping to find out more. I’m really hoping I can find, as Paul Harvey used to say “the rest of the story”, especially about the Black Dragon!

For those of us that enjoy ups, downs, life happens, frustrations, happiness, friends, stupidity, family and a series of books that will keep you occupied for at least 7 days (for me anyway LOL); you can’t go wrong with this set.

I will be passing this story to my kids, grandkids and great-grandkids that I know will enjoy the storyline.

Thoroughly engrossing tale

This 8 book series is amazing. It is extremely rare for my unwavering interest to be held through a series of 8 books, but these 2 authors did it. The story line is believe able, as are the characters. There is plenty of action, humor, camaraderie and clean romance. Truly I hated to see it end. The authors handled the ending well, although I would have liked to see the four young mages through to graduation;of course, that would probably take another 16-24 books, an impossible task. I doubt I would last through it all. As it is the exhilarating saga of Raven and Leander will long live in my memory. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys dragon magical fantasy.

One of her best series I've ever read!!!!!!!

Start with one mage in training and end with witn 4 battle hardened mages, WOW!!! What does Raven think she's doing when she states she will have a dragon as her familiar? She has never trained (ha,ha) a dragon. Will she gain the trust of the dragon she has chosen? Will she train him or will he train her? Over these truly outstanding, multi-layered books there is so much action, adventure, magic and a touch of romance that you'll have a hard time putting them down for something as mundane as sleep, food or work!! Find out all the answers in these outstanding books. Highly recommended for all ages.

Red Haired Female Mage and Dragonrider

I gave this series a rating of 5 out 5 because i loved it. Raven is a good role model even though she had to break some rules in order to do what she needed to do. I think she was always meant to soar through the sky it just so happens she does on her dragon Leander. She does new first things for a female of her time. Thinking of Raven encourages to strive to break through my shell and do stuff that I normally wouldn't do. Thank you both for writing this amazing series. I recommend this series to anyone that loves fantasies , dragons and mages.

Epic story, great characters, incredible world

Long story, love the ones that take more than a day to read. Love the fantasy of dragons, these beings are from all past cultures, and they are always intelligent, feared, and loved. Its amazing how well written stories can be, as if one is there and a part of the world. My wife just bought 4 more books by the same authors and the same characters. She knows how sometimes I don't like stories to end. I am happy to be able to follow these great people in this world as they continue their lives.

Adventurous! Exhilarating!

I have fallen for this series and all of the characters. I'm sad to see it end. The antics of Murphy, Henry and Maxwell kept me giggling throughout the books. The story with William's dad hit close to home and showed compassion and the daily struggles of child who becomes their parents caregiver. I started in this Universe when covid happened. Thank you for sharing another wonderful amazing series in this Universe. Can't wait to see what comes next.

dragons

Magic and dragons what more can you ask for? Puzzles and secrets keep the stories interesting. Needed editing in just a few places but this was the whole series so not even one edit per book. A couple of things, she didn’t thank the flightless dragons who rescued her one time, she didn’t even go to visit them after she healed. One dream made it seem like she led the old giant dragons to the capital, that never happened but the giant dragon resolution was weird. What happened to the guardians?

Move over RK Rowling! There’s a new writer in town!

I just finished reading this 8 part series and loved every minute of it. For Harry Potter fans, you find the same kind of mystery and excitement that you found at Fogwarts. Carr and Andersen keep the suspense and intrigue going throughout this series. So, do yourself a favor and start this series. You won’t regret it. And then give them a rating to help support their fine work and dedication to their art.

Exciting Action Story

This was an excellent story, with "never ending" action around every corner. The books grab the reader immediately, & maintain avid interest all the way through to the end. Stopping reading to go to sleep was nearly impossible!! The characters are all strong with endearing qualities. I am very impressed with this series written by authors M. Carr & M. Anderle!!

Grows on you

Raven, like many red heads, fiery personality and major problem solver. Her best friend, Henry. A tall and awkward youth who has known Raven forever. We are introduced to these two friends and then their friends and their situations and the trouble compounds and they work to solve it in a Mage school. Friends and a frog named Maxwell and a dragon for Raven that kicks her butt. Enjoy the adventure.

Extremely entertaining, exciting and highly recommend !!!

Just loved this series !!! Raven, Leander and others battle monsters, magic, and try to figure out how magic returns to their world while still learning how to be mages. They travel far and wide to find answers, while still forging their own way through the mess their world has become due to magic returning everywhere. It's a great read for everyone !!!

Riveting!

One of the better series I have read in a looong time! The characters are well developed, and the world development is quite good. I will say I would have loved to see a map, but the storyline is so good I had no trouble following. The action combined with tame, appropriate hints at romance made it very enjoyable! Nothing smutty, and the humor was quite enjoyable as well! Fantastic novel!

The young teaching the old there is another way

There is a main character but as the story builds each new person becomes an important part of the plot with dragons binding it all together. It is an exciting series and has you holding your breath and hoping it will all work out in the end. This needs to be read in order as the plot builds with each book.

Martha Carr has really delivered with this series

I spent the last few days with my face glued to my Kindle, unable to get anything else done!
This is a very action filled entertaining series with a bunch of characters that I really enjoyed. It is full of magic and had a terrific storyline. I am now looking forward to reading more of the author's works.

Young Adult fantasy?

Since the story is about teenagers, this series is probably considered juvenile or young adult fantasy. However, this old man enjoyed the whole series. I hope the authors decide to follow the principal characters into adulthood and into new adventures. I’d get a new series to read if they did!

Promising story, but wanting

The books are well written for the most part. Some of the dialogue is confusing. There is some repetiveness to descriptions of actions. The main issue is the lack of more realistic consequences of actions. For a never ending war, there is a decidedly lack of deaths. It makes the books less than they could be.

Great fantasy read!!

Magic, dragons, drama, indomitable spirit it has it all. Alot of fun to read and well wrapped up at the end. The normal sadness of the end of a series is not here on this. And that is not to knock the story in any way shape or form but rather to praise it for being so well done that I hit the end and it felt like a good end.

Young mage adventures

These books tell a remarkable story of two strong willed people who don’t like each other and don’t want to be in the same room. These run into each other and are trying to one up each other, that in the end they find more in common than they imagined.

It is a very great read

Simplistic ending

Enjoyed the series, was a little disappointed in the ending, was overly simplistic. However I enjoyed the people and their interactions. I like the escapism that right, specifically truth and honesty are admirable and desirable. We need to aim for this in the sad quagmire we live in at present. One lives in hope and we need to infuse it in our life.

Join the Adventure

I was not ready to leave this series. I felt as if Raven and Leander were personal friends. I wanted to join them in their adventures. I flinched when the going got tough and breathed a sigh of relief when the danger was past. This story is well-written, compelling, and timeless. Raven rates up there with Frodo, Sam, and Harry. She is truly noble and loyal.

Dragons, traditions, and teenage mages

If u like breaking a few rules when you were teenagers was something now put magic and add a few dragons for good measure. Combine a few close friends and a few close calls, plus a kingdom teetering on the edge, and you get one spell gazing good story you won't want to put down.

Awesome series

Captivated from the start, I enjoyed this series very much. Good read!!
Dragons, magic, mages, legends coming to life and challenges to life ways that no longer work. The urge to do what's right and the fight for a more honorable way to treat magic and dragons. Great story!
