The angels only let me out to hunt.
But it's not demons I'm sent to destroy—it's dragons.

I'm corrupted. My soul was impure at birth. I’m an angel born with an insatiable need for vengeance so intense that they caged me, branded me, and kept me in the dark.

I've been promised purity and redemption, freedom from my cage. Failure is not an option. My soul depends on it.

I must hunt the Dread—a merciless clan of dragon shifters whose true nature reveals itself in the dead of night. For once my killer instincts might set me free.

But one mistake is all it takes.
One moment that costs me my freedom once more.

Now, my life rests in the hands of Callan Steele, a Dread dragon whose touch sears my corrupted soul.

He claims my strength and my vengeance for his own and tells me that the fire in my angelic heart belongs to him.

That I belong to him.

Some angels fall, but I won’t crash and burn.

What a fantastic storyline!!

Talk about a badass, Lana is one to fear!! Dragon killer. Doesn’t even have ANY fear coming face to face with one. Now here’s a little twist, Lana senses her victims sins. She knows they have killed innocents. She senses their evil. So does that make her evil?? Well her Serene Commander has beaten into her that is does. Lana has been heavily physically abused as far back as she can remember. She lives in a dark dirty cell. Brain washed to the point when she is released to kill a dragon she returns of her own free will. Lana feels she is evil and has been programmed to believe doing the Serene Commanders bidding is the only way to cleanse herself. Such a good storyline here !!

Callan has been watching, studying and devising a plan to capture Lana. It works. What has surprised him is the scars and evidence that Lana is not some beloved well cared for hunter. She has clearly been abused. As he keeps her latched to him he sees more and more she is a victim. He sees she truly is only capable of hurting those that are evil. Now his plans must change because he can not in good conscious use her in his plans.

Now I don’t want this to be a spoiler so. There is a third party to this read that comes about in the end. Adding a SHOCKING turn. Naturally leaving on a cliffy with no book 2 in sight. 💔

Oh by the way, this wasn’t a 5 star for me because I do have a certain level of heat I like in a romance and this had a flame 🔥🔥but not a raging inferno🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.

Happy reading,
DD🥂

Fairly decent paranormal romance, but didn't really leave me wanting to continue with the rest of the series (even though it ends on a HUGE cliffhanger). The characters were somewhat likeable, but their decisions seemed a bit more YA than adult or NA to me. They were also quite two-dimensional and didn't really have much depth or personality. They were either scary and threatening all the time or all sunshines and rainbows. Lana was probably the most interesting character at the start of the book, but her personality was a bit weird and non-existent by the end. She could also randomly control her rage and guilt-o-metre in the last chapter??? Not sure why this happened, since she couldn't control them at any other point in the novel unless she was buffered by Callan, but all good I guess.

I'm not really sure where the blurb was going with the whole "I belong to him" nonsense either. It's definitely not a mate/claiming type of romance at all. This may come more later in the series, I'm not certain, but it's definitely not applicable to this book at all. The romance is kind of stale too, which made it a bit of a boring read overall. Still, the writing was fine so going to give it a solid 3.

Hunt the Night

Ok, wow. I could not stop reading this book. I absolutely loved it. This world is so different from any others that I have read, and I was hooked from the very beginning until the end. All of the characters are amazing, and I want to know more because I just have so many questions about what is going on.
This book will leave you wanting and needing more the farther you go. The mystery surrounding everything is definitely a head scratcher. Ms. Frost has a way of drawing you in and not letting you go

Holy damn dragon breaths! This is the easiest 5 star score I could give. If you fell hard for Everly’s Soul Bitten Wolf Shifter series, you are going to become obsessed with this latest upcoming release (Coming out on the 18th February!). All I can say is be sure to have this on the list! It’s the biggest MUST ever!

See how easy that was? 😉🤷🏻‍♀️ And you can thank me later because this will have you hooked from the first page, if you're anything like me...if you mimick me though to a T, you'll be in it to win it from the first sentence, hell the first word. Something just sank its hook into me and I was in deep from the very beginning. Like being transported so completely.

Everything about this book I utterly loved though. This story just felt so unique and dammit but I need more pronto. How Everly ended it was, daaaang, not cool. That's gonna be messing with my head until July comes around. Whhhyyy does that feel so far away?!

I'm sorry guys but my brain is truly stuck on that ending. I just have so many questions and emotions. Gah...this is messing with my head. I just gots to know more! Like, I sorta saw what was going to happen but I was still wowed...and my brain definitely misfired and I'm certain this 👇🏻 was me lol.

I just can't. Man, I need more stat. You, my friend, are one talented being. I just love how you have me holding onto every word you write. Leaving me always wanting and needing more. You are the perfect escape. A weaver of words. That's what you are.

Okay, I need to work out how to start talking about the plot a little. But firstly, I know you guys are going to love these characters Everly has just created, in this unique budding story. They're just so easy to understand and relate to. Something in my heart just connected me so wholly to these characters and I just got them. They had me feeling things so expressly that I was wowed by that impact. They now own a piece of my heart and I'm here for all the stressful times ahead of them. And will be there ready to give them a hug. My heart has laid claim to Callan and Lana. Mark it down. He might've claimed Lana but I claim them both. Just sayin'.

Onto the story itself...baby dragons help me...Okay, so we have Lana who has only ever been used as a weapon. Seen as corrupted and wicked by the angels. She is an angel born with a "corrupted" soul, with an insatiable need to deliver justice to those who have done wrong. She's held in cells when she's not out hunting dragons to end their existence...In a fight to try and reclaim a pure soul, she is promised, she does the Serene Commander's bidding. Willing to hunt and deliver vengeance on those who stand in her way. Failure isn't something she can consider. But when she is sent to fight against one of the hardest opponents yet...the leader of the Dread clan. One slip is all it takes and her hope of freedom comes crashing down.

But nothing is as she expected. The leader of the Dread, Callan Stelle, now has her and has claimed her as his. Her life is in his hands...A dragon that calls to her, that has her being able to both breathe for the first time...whilst also setting everything she knew and is, aflame. But maybe nothing is as she thought and maybe there is another way out. A chance for true freedom. A chance to find who she truly is.

“Open your mind, not-Lana, to the possibility that you’re meant for more than one purpose. That your path may not be pre-determined. Then you might realize that you have real choices to make.” His jaw hardens and his eyes are nearly pure green as his proximity heats me. “Then we might not have to kill each other.”

This story will honestly take you on a wild ride. It touches so many bases. It's a journey of not just fighting for your freedom but finding what is worth fighting for. Learning who you are is not who or what others think of you and that shifting who you are is okay too. You are not held into a mould that you can't break. There is light even in the darkness. You just have to reach for it and see where it takes you. This is the journey this book took me on.

"What is the basic truth you want me to believe?"
A rueful smile passes his lips. "I want you to believe that you were perfect to begin with."

Seriously Everly, absolutely fantastic work. I'm obsessed with your new works, not surprising, but I'm so keen to see where this story goes...because what I've seen has touched my heart in so many ways. This is a new series I need to have in my life and on my bookshelf.

If you love Upper YA (17+ due to content) Urban Fantasy and stories that will have you obsessing over and craving more, this is a story for you. And duuude DRAGONS!

So if anyone expects me to re-enter that stupid allergy-inducing thing called reality, I reject it all. I shall be stuck in my head thinking and obsessing over my new favourite people. That is all.

May this time go quickly, before I lose my mind good and proper.

It's convincing right? 😂

See, I even have a little mantra running through my brain to help get me through the crazy.

My point is you need this book and if I succeeded in getting you to check it out...my work here is done. Be sure to pre-order this gem. Like seriously! I will haunt you somehow if you don't lol. 😆 It releases in just a few more days...you can find it here ---> Hunt the Night. Then you have to tell me all about your feels and thoughts. If you are new here I am a part of Everly's ARC team and was given a copy of this book in place of my honest thoughts.

In one last attempt to drag you to the right side. I'm going to leave one more quote.

I am wicked. An angel born with a corrupted heart. A hunter to my core.

If you are new to my rambles...I also have a blog if you are interested in checking that out ( Read Ramble Repeat)...So if you'd love to keep up to date with all my crazy just give that follow button a hit.

Anywho, that's all for today. Hope everyone is staying as sane and safe as possible. 'Til next time.

Happy Reading Ramblers!

***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.***

I am not really that big into angels. I can get into dragon shifters a little but they still are not my fav. Of course as many of you know by my reading history, wolves are my favorite. However, this was a great read!

What a unique new world we are in! I was so stunned with how much I enjoyed this book! Everly Frost is exceptional at taking something new an making you devour the book and leave you wanting more. I do wish the book was a little steamier than it was but overall, this was fabulous. Maybe the next book will be sexier. Overall, I cannot wait to see what happens next in book 2!

I totally saw someone else use this high level overview and loved it! Totally using this moving forward!

Intriguing and inescapably addictive! This will keep you captivated while you devour it's pages. This is what you've been waiting for, so take your seat and buckle up because this thrill ride is dangerous and filled with twists. It's jaw dropping conclusion will leave you stunned and breathless. I'm positively filled with glee over the sheer brilliance that is Everly Frost!

Not Lana is a character that is vastly entertaining. As we unravel her inner thoughts and feelings, she quickly becomes a reader favorite. She's a force to be sure, but her heart is justifiably pure, no matter what she's been led to believe.

Our hero has so many surprising shades. Figuring out his end game is exciting. I kept expecting him to reveal this dangerous plot and betrayal.

I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see what the next book is going to give us. This world is darkly deceptive and I can't wait for more!

Book: Hunt the Night
Read By: Ebook
Author: Everly Frost
Genre: Fantasy, Romance

My feelings:

My heart raced as I devoured every word of this book, unable to tear my eyes away from the unique world crafted within its pages. From the very first chapter, I was spellbound by the intricately woven plot and the vividly imagined settings.
I fold my arms. “She’s desperate, although I’m not sure why. Her loyalty shifts to whomever she perceives can give her the most of whatever she needs: money, attention, possibly even sex. She can be easily manipulated and won’t hesitate to tell secrets for personal gain. She’ll go right back to Sophia and tell her everything that happened here.”

Each character, with their distinctive personalities and backstories, came to life before my eyes and left me longing for more. With each turn of the page, my curiosity rose higher and higher as I tried to unravel the mysteries that surrounded everything in this enchanting novel.
His jaw tightens. “Because human women don’t survive the birth of a dragon child.” He meets my eyes. “My mother never knew what my father was, or what she was carrying. We develop like human children in the womb. You won’t see anything on an ultrasound. It’s not until moonlight touches us outside the womb that our true nature is triggered and after that, we develop as dragons.

It's clear that Ms. Frost has a gift for captivating her readers and holding them captive until the very end.
This time, Callan catches her, slipping his hands beneath her stomach so he doesn’t mess with her burns. His wings carefully form a sling to support her while she curls up against his chest. He steps into the elevator and turns to the room, briefly meeting his sister’s gaze before he says, “You all know the way out.” The elevator doors close and I can breathe again, but my thoughts are a mess and it’s difficult to process everything that happened. Byron’s death, Tyler’s rage, Sophia’s injuries, the danger to Emika, and the flames I swallowed.

Hunt The Night captivates my imagination, then leaves me dangling on a cliffhanger. That’s not usually something I relish, but I’m unable to resent it since my favourite genre is paranormal romance, my favourite trope is enemies to lovers, and writing that explores the depth of characters is my crack. This is my first Everly Frost book and I have found it to be the answer to my heart’s desires on all counts!

Lana Harlowe is an Angel who senses the guilt of others and is burdened by a compulsion for bloody justice and retribution. For this, the Serene Commander and all the other Angels have labelled her as “corrupted”, caged her, shunned her, and used her as a weapon against their enemies. Lana has been promised “redemption” in return for doing the Angels’ dirty work of exterminating the dragons. Not only those who have offended them, but all dragons. When Lana is sent on a special mission to assassinate Callan Steele, the head of the Dread dragon clan, what she senses from him triggers calm instead of rage, and she learns that the Serene Commander has been keeping secrets …

Lana (𝘢𝘬𝘢 𝘈𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘳) is intriguingly and fascinatingly rendered as a blend of worldly deadliness but introspective naïveté. Angels and Dragons alike fear her, but she has no sense of self worth, having believed in the corruption of her soul her entire life. That is, until Callan questions her about her true nature and the sincerity of the Serene Commander’s promises. Callan is a powerful and insightful alpha, trying to protect not only his dying race and his clan but his human friends with whom he has developed a deep bond. He quickly recognizes that Lana means more to him than a pawn in the war against the Angels. The action and romance are well balanced and kept me glued to the pages.

I am grateful to Everly Frost and Hidden Hollow Book Tours for inviting me to the Chase The Shadows (Book 2) book release tour and gifting me a copy of Book 1 so that I can experience this magical escape firsthand.

The problem with my review is that it comes months apart since I finished the book. So, whatever I am writing in here, you should take a wide berth, and considered it from a distance.

I can distinctly remember that it did not impress me overall. There were some parts that I could appreciate, like the fact that she was a (supposedly) deadly angel and he was a dragon. It sounds like a powerful sandwich couple (it also sounds kinky).

To get a sense of the heroine`s voice I give you the following excerpt:

“When he was surrounded by fire, I felt his rage and I could finally feel my own, but now that he’s quiet and in control…

His presence is like unicorns and fucking rainbows.”

So, a very normal couple right there. They are horny and full of pent-up supernatural powers with a deadly mix of hyper-hormones.

The glaring criticism that I had for this book was concerning the romantic part. Towards the end, I had this remark to make that their romantic involvement should have been revealed in book two or three not so hurriedly at the end of book one. But maybe, that's what happens when your only plot line resumes at making two people fall in love at any cost.

I am screaming on the inside! I freaking love Lana and Callan. Lana, a corrupted angel with black wings, wants nothing more than to deliver justice and become a pure angel. Her next target is an elusive dragon leader, Callan, but he ends up capturing her instead. Lana learns more about the dragon shifters and about Callan, as he in turn learns more about Lana and what she's been through. The dynamic between the two is literal fire. I'm ready to dive into book 2!

LOVED IT!!!

I absolutely love this book! I devoured it! I was completely engaged the entire time and I had no idea what direction it was going to go. I cannot wait for the second book! I'm a little irritated that it ended on a cliffhanger, a pretty serious cliffhanger, but I will still continue the series. I absolutely hate cliffhangers so the reason I still gave this book 5 stars was just because I was so engrossed in the story line.

OMG what a book 😱

Mrs Frost wow just wow this book was so good and omg twist ending I didn't see that one coming at all like whatttt... I have to start book 2 immediately to see where it all goes.

Lana, a hunter born with a corrupted soul spends her life caged by her angel counterparts she is their weapon for them she kills, driven by her rage, she can sense a person deepest sins Theives, greed, killer and it's the last one she hunts but only one species... Dragons. Their numbers are dwindling thanks to her but she seeks her redemption something promised to her by the angels if she wipes out all dragons. Her latest mission is to take out Callan Steele leader of the Dread clan but instead she ends up captured after falling into his trap. Lana begins to question all she's been taught about his kind when his clan display signs that aren't meant to be possible. No dragon nowadays can fully shift or breathe fire but Callan can but his fire is set off by touch and when Lana tries to escape she touches him igniting his fire that no one is strong enough to stand not even his family but Lana remains unscathed something that confuses them both and more so she can inhale his fire without harm to herself. Callan propositions her to trade the cage she known her whole life to agree to stay and ultimately switch sides she agrees to hear him out but at first refuses to give up her quest but the more she's around the dragons the more she questions what the Supreme commander has raised her believing.
When a dragon who Lana had apparently killed resurfaces things get complicated for he is the whole reason the war between dragons and angels exists after he stole a precious artifact and he's determined on revenge against Lana for wiping out his clan.
When Callan promises to protect her she refuses to bring the backlash near his clan but when she tries to take things into her own hands it leaves her life hanging in the balance.
What happens when the ones she's spent her life killing become her protectors and the ones she's served turn on her?
Will Lana survive when everyone turns on her hell bent on ending her life for her betrayal.

Definitely Recommend Reading 📚

Compelling Characters & Original Lore Generate a Captivating Series Start

Hunt the Night immediately drew me in and held me all the way to the breathtaking cliffhanger. From dragon’s gold to angel hierarchy, author, Frost, has taken some favorite supernatural species and given them a unique spin. Main characters, Lana and Callan, are relatable in their imperfections and brokenness. And there are a range of different relationship types represented throughout the story. The world building and character development is understandable, well-paced, and just fantastic. My only critique is of the romantic pacing, I liked it, but it felt fast. Overall, the storytelling is smooth and engaging. I highly recommend this read.

If you are looking for a high-level overview:

🔥Length: Novel
🔥Genre: Urban fantasy with romantic subplot, angels and dragon shifters
🔥POV: First person, female main character
🔥Age: Adult (main characters in their 20s)
🔥Warnings: Language, schmexy times, some violence (including abduction/restraint), and the main character has a rough history that includes what I would define as mental and physical abuse
🔥Spice: Moderate, it’s not overly descriptive, but there is loving on page
🔥Violence: Moderate for the most part, more action-focused, but there are a few moments where the results of violence are described/discussed
🔥Editing: Nothing that pulled me from the story
🔥World: Same as many of the author’s other series – watch for the Easter eggs 😊
🔥Series: Supernatural Legacy
🔥Tropes: Enemies to lovers, chosen one
🔥Ending: As stated in the author’s description “Ends on a cliffhanger” – I still say, read it now!
🔥Re-read? Yes, most definitely

I enjoyed this one, although I’m not sure if Lana is my favorite of Everly’s heroines. Lana is an angel who has always been told she was not pure, that her soul was corrupted, and has been kept in a cage her whole life - only let out to kill dragons, whom she is told are evil and deserve to die.

Imagine her surprise when the tables are turned and she is captured by the very people she has hunted. Not only that, but the leader (Callan) doesn’t torture her or hurt her - he helps her heal after one of his brethren hurts her. He shows her more kindness than any of the angels ever have her whole life. Because of this, and the experiences she has with Callan while being held captive, her worldview and everything she thought she knew comes tumbling down. She’s pulled in two directions, and she has to make a choice.

Callan, I did love in this book. He’s never purposefully cruel to Lana, and really treats her better than anyone else has her entire life. He was really torn as they started to develop feelings for one another, but always tried to make choices that were for the good of his people. I was definitely rooting for the two of them to figure it out.

I will say the twist at the end I was NOT expecting, although I did suspect something was going on with Lana that she didn’t know, and I guess now we finally (sort of) have an answer to one of the big questions. But the cliffhanger is killer! I can’t wait to read the next book to see where the story goes.

This had a more paranormal romance slant than I was expected (I have read a lot of this author and it tends to be UF or romantasy) but I loved the change up. Apparently I was in the mood for paranormal romance so this went down a treat. It is a little insta love, as many books in the genre are, but I did love these two together.
I feel like some of the information in the blurb wasn’t super apparent in the book itself, and you might not actually know it if you didn’t read the blurb first. As someone who regularly goes in blind as it were I found the blurb to be somewhat misleading when I read it at the end.
The politics dragged this down for me, because they didn’t actually seem to serve any purpose. Lana is ‘tamed’ for appearances sake, but the council of dragons don’t actually seem to do anything or have a reason for existing. There’s a lot of meetings where nothing is discussed and they try to annoy each other, but that’s about it.
This book just didn’t really seem to go anywhere until the end gives us some new information in a nice cliff hanger, but it didn’t give me the pull to reach immediately for the next book. I can’t even tell you why, because there’s nothing specifically wrong in here and I was grabbed from the start, but somewhere along the way it weakened its hold.

A new twist on Angels and Dragons

**Possible minor spoilers – I’m going to try my best to keep them out, but a couple may slip through.
I admit, I’m a huge fan of Everly Frost – her writing just gets better and better; she continues to have a new, fresh take on the supernatural and if you love the supernatural world, you will love this new installation. This is book 1 of a trilogy, so it does end on a cliffhanger, but WOW so worth it to pick this up.
We start with our angel, Lana, in a cage. She has been honed since birth to be a weapon against the dragons and can sense guilt in other beings, both human and dragon. The only thing she knows is that dragons must die so when she is finds out the location of the enemy’s leader, Callan, her primary focus becomes taking him out to save her soul. However, the dragons are not necessarily as black and white as she’s been led to believe. Lana starts discovering the world has varying shades of gray and everything is not as she’s been taught. The motivations of both sides are no longer clear to her. How will she deal with this new info? What she’s done, who she’s become, and where does she go? Who are the real enemies, and does she have any true comrades?
Also, the cool twist on dragon gold – Wow.

lmfao i went into this expecting very little. like i wanted a book that didn't have to be particularly good, just something that was readable and decently enjoyable. and this book gave me just that ! really wasn't extraordinary at all but still fun.

i like the idea and the lore. like the whole angel situation is already cool enough, and the dragon backstory is interesting. the solomon grudge lore was very nice i liked it. but lol i do wish it wasn't an urban setting. but whatever.

in terms of characters, the fmc was completely unrealistic. wdym she spent her whole life shunned and hunting and killing and violent and distrusting and hating and then she meets a hot guy and BAM suddenly she submits to everything. lol like that transformation needed to be way slower. but yeah i get this rapid progression was required for the sake of labelling this book as a romance. anyway the mmc is SO copy paste bc come on. hot guy, extremely powerful/leader of some group and yet is righteous and kind and loves the fmc instantly for no reason. i have met this guy a million times. nothing interesting about it. the sentinel and solomon were the only interesting ones tbh.

let me make it clear that this book is objectively MID, but it gave me what i was looking for, and therefore i enjoyed it.
