Thorsons Principles of Native American Spirituality

Rate this book
Native American Spirituality teaches us the value of living in harmony with the earth, of honouring each other and respecting the interdependence of all life. By looking back and rediscovering 'The Old Ways', we can look forward to applying these perennial truths to our modern dilemmas. This introductory guide explains what is a vision quest, how to reconnect with nature, how to purify with herbs, what is a sweat lodge, what is a medicine tool, and what is the Great Mystery.

Beautiful book which came to me as a reminder. Reminder of Nature as creation of all and being the one and only god (for me). There’s a lot of wisdom inside as well as a general overview of Native’s ceremonies and beliefs, however it’s not a in-depth study. Definitely worth reading though!

There’s couple of quotes that I want to memorize, here’s some of them:

“Only after the last tree has been cut down,
Only after the last river has been polluted,
Only after the last fish has been caught,
Only then will you find that money cannot be eaten”

Or

“This we know: the earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the Web of Life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the Web, he does to himself.”

Will definitely come back to this book!

Wonderful introduction into Native American spirituality. The exercises are simple meditations that you could do on a lunch break.
