Dreams of Fate

Rate this book
At the age of twenty-three, teaching assistant Blair Coal knows there’s more to love than her last emotionally toxic relationship. This becomes more evident each time she sees firefighter Tyler Stoan.

It sounds like the beginning of a fairy tale romance, right?

The only problem is—both Blair and Tyler are in a coma, and they’ve only met in their dreams.

When Blair wakes with a vivid recollection of the man she’s infatuated with, she begins her search to find him against the advice of those closest to her.

Will Blair find Tyler? And if she does, who will she discover?

As relationships unfold, Blair’s past and present collide, adding tension to her already perplexed mind, and she finds herself at a crossroad.

Though true love seems within reach for Blair, fate may have something else in store for her.

After all, life hardly ever turns out the way we think it will.

Born and raised in sunny South Africa, my travels took me firstly to England and then to New Zealand, where I settled for 10 years. Upon return to England with my husband and two boisterous sons, I left the corporate world behind and took on the new adventure of being a stay-at-home mum. It was during this time, at the age of 37, that I summoned the courage to do what I have loved to do since teenagehood – to write, to bring the characters in my head to life in the form of a first novel, which I had started 10 years ago but never finished.

In my spare time, I love to bake for my family, read, and of course, submerge myself in the creative pool of bringing characters to life and threading narratives together.

Dear author,

I liked your writing, the intriguing plot and the engaging characters. It was a very beautiful and emotional story, that sadly I couldn’t finish.
Love triangle is not a theme I read, so you can imagine how (maybe deceived) I felt when I came across with this trope!
No note, no warning, no hint in the blurb... nothing. 🤭
As much as I tried, I dnf @ 65%

Dreams.

What makes us dream certain things? Who decides which people grace us in our dreams?

Trauma.

What does trauma do to our mind? What do coma patients feel, hear, or dream?

Love.

It always happens when you least expect it and you can rarely explain it.

“In the depths of my dreams, I met a man who revealed to me a fated path I would never have found on my own. Of all the blessings I’ve received in life, Tyler Stoan remains the greatest of all.”

This book will creep right up on you and get you in the heart. It started slow for me but something kept me going. A few intriguing lines. A niggling in my conscience to find out more about Tyler and Regan and Blair. And by the end, I couldn’t read it fast enough even though I had tears running down my face. It was that good.

The main plot of the story happened like I thought it would but it was all the other little things that happened around it and through it that kept this story emotional and meaningful. It was a really interesting take on a love story. A different perspective for sure and one I will be thinking about for a long time. It is one of those books that will come up in conversation. I read this book… have you ever thought about… I have to tell you about this book….

I’m not going to tell you anything more. The blurb gives away a lot but if you like emotional reads. Those stories that tug on your heartstrings and keep you up at night. Check this one out.

“...our fated journey continues. I promise to love you fearlessly for all of my days. For you deserve nothing less.”

4 and 1/2 stars

While reading this story, I was reminded of another book I read called While I was Away and also the movies, While You Were Sleeping and Just Like Heaven. So if you have read or watched any of these, I think you are going to like this tale. I thought I knew where the story would go but I was surprised by the twists and turns. The story had great characters that you take an immediate likening to. Blair is a strong and determined female who learns to live her life fearlessly. And she learns this from a stranger she meets in an unusual way. But it also leads to meeting someone else. Regan seems prickly at first but really is a kind hearted soul. Life has dealt him a heavy hand but it seems that Fate has smiled on him and sent someone to help him through his pain.

It is a rocky start for Regan and Blair but they form a friendship relatively quickly and possibly more. Of course, the path to love was never easy and our protagonists realise this as their journey begins. There are bumps in the road for them but a guiding angel of sorts gives some pearls of wisdom.

This was an emotive tale and I won't lie but there were moments were tears gathered. It was a wonderful story about not waiting for a fairy tale but creating a real story, a real life lived fearlessly. There were also great messages about how some people come into our lives for a reason and to understand what they teach us. One thing I loved about this story was the idea of a fated love and how it finds a way. It was heart warming story.

"but that stars weren't meant to shine for us." Could you fall in love with someone you have never met in real life? Is it fate that brought two strangers or is it a dream?

If I could give Dreams of Fate more than 5 stars I would. Skylar writes an emotional strangers to lovers romance that has your heart beating faster than normal, tears falling down your cheeks and falling in love with the thought that just maybe dreams can bring the love of your life to you.

Blair is a teacher that has been in an induced coma for a few weeks. She can't wait to fall asleep every day because she is very happy when she sleeps. Why? Well, she had met that man of her dreams in her sleep but has no idea who he is. She only has a name and it is Tyler. Will she ever find out who he is or where he lives? She cannot understand why she sees him in her sleep but it feels so real. Her sister thinks that she is crazy but accepts it. When she sees a newspaper article about a fireman that is in a coma and the picture is that of her Tyler. He is in the same hospital that she was in. Could this be a coincidence? She decides that she needs to see him and approaches his friend Regan. Regan pushes her away until she tells him something that Tyler and Regan only know. She also takes him to a place nobody knows about. Will Regan get her to have feelings for someone that is right in front of her? Will the feelings that she has for Tyler could her feelings for Regan?

Regan is Tyler's best friend/cousin. He is hurting that Tyler is in a coma and he needs him in his life. When a strange woman approaches him and tells him things that only Tyler would know or say, what is he to think. Does this woman know him? But how? He notices that she is beautiful and cannot stop thinking of her. When he finally finds out how she knows Tyler, will he believe her? Will he feel like he is taking her away for Tyler? When there is trouble and he needs Tyler, Blair is there for him. What can he do about this strong pull h has for Blair?

Skylar grabs a hold of your heart and does not let it go. She writes with such emotion and love that you feel every heartbreak, love and happiness shared and tears that fell in this book. I highly recommend this book. You will be unable to put it down and the emotional rollercoaster that you will ride is worth it. Sklyar does not disappoint with Dreams of Fate.

"The future isn't something either of us can predict".

This is my first book by Skylar Shoar, and I can confidently state from my first interaction with this author's work that Ms. Shoar breaks the mould in conventional romance writing. Dreams of Fate takes you on a romantic journey both in your dreams and once you are awake. There would have been nothing easy about writing Regan, Tyler, and Blair's story, but their beautiful and deeply emotional story has been executed flawlessly.
"Follow your heart with no reservations."

When Blair wakes from her coma, Tyler the man she met in her dreams still consumes her sleeping hours even when at home, needing to find Tyler, Blair's journey leads her to Tyler's best friend Regan, a man fighting his own insecurities and tragedy. With Tyler still in a coma, Regan and Blair spend time together, but insecurities and feelings of guilt start to break this fragile pair apart. Tyler could be the only one that has the ability to help this couple, but Blair can only reach him in her dreams.

This is a complex romance right to the end but has been brought to life in a page-turning must-read leaving me wondering if those wonderful people I have met in my own dreams are out there somewhere.

Well done Skylar! Highly recommend

Dreams of Fate is a dreamy love story written with warmth and wit that pushes the boundaries between real and ethereal.

I absolutely loved it. I’ve read Skylar Shoar’s first two steamy romances and I was hooked on her beautiful stories, character development, humor, and way with words. So it was no surprise Dreams of Fate is just as magical.

It’s one of those books where the characters feel like your friends and you’re sad to close the book and see them go.

Skylar always has besties in her books, and I love the “I got your back” friendships between the main character Blair and her BFF Dakota and between Tyler and Regan. I also love the dynamics with Blair’s sister. All the characters have distinct personalities that are carried throughout the novel.

Told in dual POV, this story with supernatural dream elements captivated me from the first page to the last.

This is a very unique contemporary romance with a sunshine/grumpy trope and a very, very sweet HEA.

This is my first time reading Skylar Shoar's books, and I really loved the author's writing. The current plot, and the backstories of all the characters were extremely diverse and refreshing to read. The book dealt with a whole spectrum of emotions spread amongst its various characters, making it extremely realistic and relatable, which is something notable since the premise of the book is the MC's dreams.

This romance is both cliche and non-cliche. The way the book and its summary are written lets the reader go through the same emotions as the MC Blair, and that was pretty cool.

I came across this book on Instagram. The author and me are following each other. This is her third book. And I love supporting up and coming/new authors. And boy am I glad I decided to read this book.

At first I thought it would be quite a smutty book. In the good sense of the word. But I was completely surprised.
One review also said there was a love triangle in the book. And I absolutely hate senseless love triangles.

But this book wasn't smutty, and there was no love triangle in it! This book completely took me by surprise and I absolutely loved it!

This book is about Blair who had an accident. After the accident she has very vivid dreams about a man named Tyler. In her dreams they meet in a beautiful meadow. And they instantly connect with each other. She soon finds out/believes he is real. And is trying to find him.
One day she sees his photo in the paper, and she finds out he is in a coma. She finds his best friend Regan and tries to get inside to see him.

And the journey really starts from there. This book is written in a very soft way. It is told with a certain kind of reverence and peace. And I loved the approach the author took with this book.
She really from the get go explained the relationships in Blair's life. There was a big difference between how she interacts with Tyler and with Regan. And I appreaciated that so much. There were no double standards.
Just a beautiful story about connection. About uncertainty, love, hope, pain and grief. About staying true to yourself and taking time for yourself to heal. About growth and honesty.
Just a breathtaking story about life, love and emotions.

Absolutely loved it!

Plus, I am totally Team Regan! Pineapple is allowed on a pizza!!! Yummie haha! I love it on my pizza!

A beautiful story that holds the reader’s attention from the first page, with delicately-woven elements of love, friendship, and emotion. Skylar Shoar delivers a new book, one that feels very much like an emotional rollercoaster, leaving you wanting for more.
What a brilliant idea for a book! I loved the fact that the author decided to bring the ethereal world into her story. Without offering any spoilers, I would like to say that both the main characters are in a coma, having only met in their dreams. Blair and Tyler seem like the perfect pair, but as their relationship will unfold, we will get to see that things are rarely as they seem. Where will fate take Blair? You will have to read the book to find out!
Romance books are often predictable but this was not the case with Skylar’s book. The story made my heart soar, and there were so many moments in which I was on the verge of crying. Her main characters are well-written and you will definitely find yourself sharing their journey, as well as the emotions they experience. The unique twists added to the delight of the reading experience, and it was great to see secondary characters so well integrated into the story. I am not even going to talk about the ending, which was perfect!
If someone would ask me to describe this story, I would use this phrase: “dreamy love story”. The author has clearly poured her soul onto the paper, creating beautiful characters and making me want to follow their journey until the end. Upon finishing this book, I am sure you will feel sad to say goodbye!
My favorite quote:
“That little word rings in my ears. Love. I guess that’s why it’s called falling in love; you may see it coming, but you’re rarely prepared for the exact moment that realization hits. I’m fully aware now, and a tiny seed of hope struggles to cling to my soul.”
This is by far one of the best romance books I have ever read. The author delivers an interesting take on a love story, filled with emotion and meaning. With well-written characters and intriguing relationship dynamics, this is the kind of book that you will speak of for a long time to come.

This book made me cry three whole times. That's saying a lot. I don't generally cry and I don't generally like to cry, but this book had me bawling...in a good way. At one point I even had to rehydrate, but I never put the book down! It's a hell of a ride, and so worth it.

Blair can't shake her memories of Tyler, the man she met in her dreams while in a coma. Her sister thinks she's nuts, but when she sees an article in the newspaper about a firefighter who's comatose after an injury in a fire she knows for certain, that is the man of her dreams and she has to see him in real life.

He's in the same hospital where she was treated, so all she has to do is convince his only living relative, Regan, to let her see him. But what neither Blair nor Regan expected was the strong attraction and deep affection which develops between them. As they grow closer, they struggle with guilt: Is it a betrayal of Tyler and their love for him that they feel so connected to each other?

Dreams of Fate is like nothing I've read before. It's such an interesting plot, and the characters are so well drawn that you get sucked right into their turmoil, love, loss, triumph, and joy. If you're looking for a very sexy and pretty sweet emotional read, this is the one.

Thank you to Skylar for sending this book over it’s really appriciated.

Well ladies and gents let’s start by saying make sure you have your tissues ready as it really is a tear jerker it really does get you going. Again Skylar you have got me and made me cry, the story is beautiful from beginning to end.

Blair is a Teaching assistant who after having an accident at school ends up in a coma and once she recovers is connecting with Tyler a fireman in her dreams.
Tyler had an accident and is in a coma. In order to see Tyler Blair has to speak to Tyler's family member, that being Regan but whilst do this you can see the chemistry that flys between these two is off the charts.

I really enjoyed this book and story my only critique was that it was very long and some parts could have been shortened but that doesn’t take away from the book because its really good and defiantly worth the read.

Dreams of Fate is a book I wish I could read for the first time again. I was moved by the powerful images that the author was able to describe. The main characters' path for healing led them to find true love with one another. Blair and Regan's journey, filled with selflessness, made you root for their happily ever after, together. I fell head over heels in love with each character in this book, but mostly with the character - Tyler.

"You're the girl I could've spent my life loving," he says in a whisper, "but the stars weren't meant to shine for us."

This one sentence was so monumental in this book. Forcing the people he loves to let go, to accept fate, learn to heal, and know that we are never alone. I can't express how incredible this book is, I could not put it down! My only wish is that I read it sooner. Thank you, Skylar Shoar, for sending me on an emotional ride with such and incredible piece of work. Simply magnificent.

The blurb intrigued me, and the content walked the walk. This was an exceptionally imaginative book, with so much depth and richness to the plot. I'm still digesting everything, and have a massive book hangover. Skylar Shoar took the scenic route to happily ever after, and I won't be forgetting this one in a hurry.

Blair, a curvaceous and beautiful young woman awakens from a coma with memories of a beautiful friendship with a man named Tyler. These memories are so vivid and realistic; she becomes convinced that he actually exists outside of her dream world. When she chances on discovering who he is, she becomes committed to seeing him in person. Unfortunately, Tyler is still in a coma. Blair makes contact with his cousin Regan in hopes that she can convince him to allow her to see Tyler in person. Blair’s story is so bizarre; it takes a lot to convince Regan that she is telling the truth. Tyler helps her by providing her with information that only the two cousins would know about. Blair’s relationship with Regan is not easy, and often leaves her feeling confused and conscience-stricken. As time passes, their lives become more intertwined and complicated. Blair has to come to terms with why fate brought her into the lives of both men.

I absolutely loved reading “Dreams of Fate!” The author presented an incredibly unique plot with lots of surprising twists and turns. She does an amazing job of bringing the protagonists and supporting characters to life. The settings are described in vivid detail, especially those that take place in the dreamscape.

She also switches back and forth between the character’s perspectives so that we get a great deal of insight into what makes them tick. Shoar does a fantastic job of creating sexual tension, and then follows up with some explosive erotic scenes. These scenes are some of the best that I have ever read, and I love that they are sensual, and not just sexual. When including information about past relationships, she touches on emotional abuse, and I feel that there are a lot of readers who will find themselves relating even more to the main character. The supporting characters provide fun interaction into this story and their stories make this novel even more fun to read.

I would love to read more books by Skylar Shoar and I hope that I can revisit with some of the characters from this story, in future novels.

Dreams of Fate is a gripping and magical romance that I could not put down!
Skylar Shoar once again dives deep into humanity, pulling forth an exquisite canvas full of color and depth. The twists and turns you do not see coming, the characters are vibrant and real. The love story is aching and raw. This is truly a book worthy of a repeat read.

What a beautiful tale of love, friendship, family and fate. Skylar has a way with words that entice you in and transport you to the world which she has created. The compelling and realistic backdrop of this story made a comfortable home of the beautiful words. The connection between the three leads was like fate itself. I’m a believer of the red string of fate and this love story has the vibe of sting tangled all the way through it. The ending tied together in a beautiful knot that binds the family to a place that meant so much. Absolutely beautiful

Dreams of Fate by Skylar Shoar Author

Dreams: “a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person's mind during sleep.” (Oxford Languages)

Meet Blair Coal. 23 year old teaching assistant. Kind, compassionate, sweet and naturally beautiful. Once Blair meets Tyler Stoan, she quickly realizes this is what a relationship is supposed to be like.

Meet Tyler Stoan. A firefighter. Smart, caring, honourable and good looking. Once he meets Blair Coal, he realizes she is the one to finally help set him free.

Two souls destined to meet one another. Right!? The only problem is, they are both in a coma. The only time they have met, is in their dreams. ❤️

Once Blair comes out of her coma, she sets out to find the “real” Tyler. Will she find him? Will she be able to handle what she stumbles upon? Will they live like heaven is on earth? “I have visions of a man whose face brightens when he sees me.”

Once again, Skylar Shoar writes an “emotional, out of body and magical experience” that kept me wanting more. She always manages to write a little bit of “real life” without taking away from the beauty of the love story itself. My “Ugly Cry” was in major effect and there were so many “WTFLIP” moments. I couldn’t put this book down.

This talented author has once again created a story where main and supporting characters have to deal with love, chemistry, tension, pain, anger, grief and so much more. I loved the BFF relationships between Blair/Dakota and Tyler/Regan. Every character played an important role in this incredible story. Let me tell you, she has done it so well.

Without a doubt, Dreams of Fate must be on your summer TBR list. It’s an incredible journey you will be happy you took. Book release July 26, 2021.

What a unique and incredibly emotional story between Regan, Blair and Tyler!

When I first started this one I wasn’t sure what to expect. Originally I was thinking it was far fetched but Skylar did an amazing job of roping my heart in and making me believe it is all possible.

Regan and Blair had every obstacle in front of them and they refused to give up. They rolled with the rollercoaster and never gave up on each other. The side characters added so much depth to the story.

If you love an emotional story where the couple needs to work hard for their HEA this one is for you!

I loved this story. Blair has just awoken from a coma where she had dreams about Tyler that feel real and lead her on a journey to find him. As she searches she meets Regan his cousin and learns that Tyler is currently in a coma. As Blair tries to understand why she keeps dreaming about Tyler learning things that are impossible for her to know while her heart falls hard for this man. There are twists and turns that were not expected and obstacles along her path. This book was emotional so grab the Kleenex. You will be rooting for Blair to find her happily ever after even if it isn't how she thinks it will look.

omg guys! Everyone needs to read dreams of fate! I have never read such a unique storyline. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a sucker for cliches but @author breaks each and everyone one of them. Her writing is so lovely and intriguing. From the very beginning you make an instant connection with the characters. I don’t want to spoil anything, but the main guy is to die for! Dreams Of Fate
Skylar Shoar
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dreams Of Fate is not your typical romance novel, I think I experienced every emotion imaginable.
There are so many things I’d like to say about this book except…no way am I giving any spoilers away. There are also ‘little wisdom nuggets’ sprinkled throughout the book, you’ll want to highlight them for later.
Good news it’s currently at a special pre-order price of $1.99.
Soooo good, you’ll want to grab it before it’s released on July, 26th. Once it’s released, the special price is gone. 📚🐛🏝

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
