Warriors of the Lathar #13

Alien Sentinel's Mate

Rate this book
Being rescued by aliens doesn’t mean she’s going to marry one… not unless he’s hot. Asking would help too.

The problem is the only alien warrior Gracie is interested in hasn’t asked. Seren K’Vass is the epitome of the strong, silent type. Emotionally avoidant with a bad boy vibe, if he was human, she’d climb him like a tree. Hell, she’d climb him like a tree anyway. But the lathar don’t do casual… anything.

Then a warrior from another clan tries to claim her and all bets are off. Whisking her away to his homeworld, she discovers Mr. Doesn’t Talk about Feelings has been keeping secrets. Ones that might get them all killed…

She’s his, but with tainted blood, how can he claim her?

From a family the lathar would rather forget, Seren long ago resigned himself to being the last of his line. But fate has other ideas, putting a beautiful human female in his path. Gracie is everything he never knew he wanted in a mate. But how can he ask her to take on a mate with cursed blood?

When a B’Kaar warrior tries to claim what’s his, long-suppressed instincts flare to life. He’ll take Gracie home, keep her safe and persuade her that he’s the only male she’ll ever need.

But fate, and an ancient and malfunctioning orbital weapon, never makes things easy. They must face their inner demons and find a path to each other… or die in the attempt.

3.5 stars. Deserves a higher rating but too many questions just not answered.
I loved this but it feels incomplete.
It was really, really entertaining and had me turning the pages to read what would happen next.
Great characters and loved how everything plays out.
Wonderful to see a humanitarian side to the B’Kaar with how they acted in saving the Vorr.
Except we don’t get a full background about the Vorr secrets, nor do we get answers to so many questions that pop up.
I keep feeling we are getting a partial story.
Yes, there is an ongoing background story involving many diverse characters, extremely exciting subplots and subterfuge on a presidential scale.
I am all for a tease or twist as long as it is answered.
But I would really like to end with a story that feels full and complete, not be left with loads of questions that are not answered. Really needed another chapter to deal with the Vorr alone, PRIOR to the epilogue which jumps a year into the future.
Was the Vorr homeworld destroyed by the planet killer defence system, as the life-forms it targeted had left?
How are the Vorr to survive with no crops, therefore no income, no homes or safety from the Lathar that despise them?
What was Cade hinting at about hidden brothers on other planets?
How is Gracie able to walk away from her undercover job with no repercussions? Doesn’t seem feasible.
What happened about Miisan’s AI? Did the B’Kaar let her leave the raider system or try and trap her?
Did Daaynal see Murphy’s hidden companion/watcher and what deal was then done?
When this ended, I was left wanting more, which is the sign of a good author but I didn’t feel I got a full story due to the above questions.
Epilogue was sweet but what has happened in the meantime to the rest of Seren’s people?
This is my honest review of this book.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Who is Gracie Shardlow really? What is Seren K'Vass if not Lathar? What ancient secrets does the AI Miisan keep undisclosed regarding the history of the humans and the Lathar? Secrets, secrets, so many secrets. Most are not fully answered by the end of this story. And a new mystery is added as well. The series is getting more intriguing as it carries on. I look forward to getting all the answers eventually.

But first you must ask

These two characters are strong willed individuals who needed more than a little push to get on the road to their HEA. I love how they both have this wonderful sense of honor, and how they both are working towards the same goal. I enjoyed getting to learn more about the Lathar and was so glad when the B’Kar were able to set aside their differences when the Vorr needed them most. This book was a phenomenal read. Not only was this book full of action, danger, and emotion, but it’s packed with Easter eggs we could see in future reads. The author answered so many questions, but also made me curious about things I didn’t even know I should be curious about. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Seren has always been a wee bit different from the other Lathar Warriors. He's just as lethal, just as ferocious, just as strategic but he's always been...more. There's a reason for that and most other Lathar would rather he and his ilk would just fade into history.

Gracie (if that's really her name) has always had a hidden agenda. Even when fighting alongside the colonists and their new Lathar allies, she has kept herself removed. But Seren...that man keeps getting past her defences - something she really can't afford.

When one of the new cybernetic Lathar takes a fancy to Gracie, she and Seren are given a head up and flee. Their escape doesn't get them very far though. A weirdly accurate wormhole manages tp set them right into the area of space that they need- Seren's homeworld.

Oh, la la - the trouble this pair gets themselves into. I really enjoyed meeting Seren's tribe, especially his "little" brother. The tribe really are very Viking-esque and had a giggle at Vikings in space! Gracie really is a deep, deep, deep well of secrets but Seren isn't exactly an open book humself - that man has a pedigree!

Political machinations, undercover spies, Ghost Ops and a certain interfering AI - everything a good SciFi Romance needs. Seren and Gracie have chemistry in spades. I can't wait to see more of the B'Kaar cyber warriors and the big reveal of one of Gracie's Nomad colleagues - HOLY COW!

This isn't just a story of two strong minded beings, Seren and Gracie, fighting their mate claim but their being unknown cogs in the Terran and Latharian subterfuge of Emperor Daaynal and President Murphy.
The more one delves into the Latharian world the more involved it becomes. Political intrigue, undercover spies an AI with intelligence beyond imagining and created by a special someone, the B'Kaar cyber warriors and don't forget Seren and Gracie, the Vorr warrior and Terran female fighting against the mating claim with snark, snarls, grunts, growls, and kisses hot enough to melt hearts. A story consisting of so many elements. One of them being Vorr genetics and who the Vorr really are in relation to the Lathar race; a rather unpleasant reference to the Lathar's wilder history . If any reader of this series ever wondered why the names for all the Latharian cultures names start with "K" the ending of this story contains the answer. This is my very willing and honest review for the ARC I was given via Bookfunnel.

Gracie has a secret but is not sure who would need to know. The B’Kaar are everywhere. They can’t be trusted. But they have found a way to match humans to Lathar with DNA matching. This will enable more females to come forth through a dating service. Funning thing is Seren has been matched. And his match is Gracie. They both have a connection but were too stubborn. When a fight causes them to have to leave abruptly to Vorr new secrets emerge. I like Seren. He isn’t pushy and the fangs just make it more exciting. Like a vampire needing its queen. We learn a lot about the Vorr and the history of the Lathar. He isn’t just a pretty face. And we also learn a lot more about Gracie and her job. It was a bit scary for a minute on the planet. Thank goodness for Risyn. He comes off a hard but there is something more. His search for the AI Miisan is beyond but she is more than what he knows. But he is interesting. I am looking forward to finding out more about him. Seren needed a no none sense woman like Gracie. She isn’t afraid to push back and even grab a weapon to help.

Seren was taking his time to claim his mate. Incomprehensible to those close to him and much more to Gracie, his perfect match. But he had secrets that make him vulnerable and could put their relationship at risk. And Gracie was not an innocent woman, at all. Strong, skilled and well trained she had her own secrets and when things were heating up, danger was up front and they were forced into an adventure where not only them, but all the Vorrs were threatened. Interesting and exciting the threat that loomed against the Vorr, the past that turns dangerous, the enemies that were everywhere and the political intrigues between the Terrans and Lethars that kept me intrigued. Action, suspense, intrigue, doubts, decisions, tender scenes, amusing comments, violence, an invisible enemy, romance and passion. Voluntarily reviewed this copy that I received from BookFunnel.

Gracie's is keeping secrets but she isn't the only one. Will she survive Seren's secret as well?
Alien Sentinel's Mate is the latest in Mina Carter's Warrior's of the Lathar series. I enjoyed meeting Gracie and Seren. Both of the have secrets and learning to trust each other is definitely a work in process. I enjoyed seeing Gracie's journey. She is so used to working alone she isn't quite sure when to accept what her heart is telling her. And Seren has as always known he is less than...at least according to the Lathar. Can he see past their limitations to regain pride in all that he is? With Gracie's help Seren begins to trust in all that he is.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and am looking forward to where Ms. Carter will take us next.

Another fabulous pairing in the Lathar series. I have been devouring these and Alien Sentinel's Mate is no exception. I just love the play that our Terran phrases have in the book and how the Lathar take to the misunderstandings of them. Gracie and Seren are the wild couple that you'd expect. How they go from sly acquaintances to mates was a trip. I really enjoyed the more detailed knowledge of the Lathar's history and a view that isn't out a space window. The interplay with the Terran president was also intriguing. There were enough threads left, to want and hope for another story, or ten.

This is part of the series, but you'll have no trouble if you wanted to read it as a stand alone.

Seren K'Vass had his eyes on Gracie Shardhoe since he first saw her.
When their group encounters the B'Kaar, Seren steps into the role of mate to ward the other males off.
Unofficially.
And unspokenly of course.
Now the B'Kaar have started working on a mate matching program and after acquiring Gracie's DNA they inform Seren that he and the human female are a good genetic match.
Instead of acting on this information immediately Seren does nothing, until Gracie gets mate challenged by another male.
The pair then don't have much choice at this point and must mate or risk starting a huge brawl.
Doesn't inspire romance but Seren turns it around and gets the girl.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book and am leaving a voluntary review.

If there was ever a world I wish I could be sucked in to it is the Warriors of Lathar. Each subsequent story brings forth more layers of intrigue and subterfuge. Both sides, Earth and Lathar, have layers that I cannot wait to see what happens next.

We keep finding more clans and while in the beginning, I may not have cared for the B'Karr, this last story made me start to cheer for them...and they weren't even the main characters.

Mina does an exceptional job in creating character growth that you cannot help but fall in love with them. Seren and Gracie are such an amazing combination. They each are stubborn in their own way and I loved to see the sparks fly when they butt heads.

I highly recommend this story and the rest of the Lathar series.

“Turns out the fork is mightier than the alien tank suit.”

Seren hasn't pressed Gracie to reveal all her truths, in part because he is holding back a few of his own, but there comes a point where it isn't just his life on the lune, or hers, and they have to truly determine the value of their secrets, and honesty, and consider why they are withholding from one another and if it is worth it.

This book explores more of the Latest empire, both its customs, and people, and delves into some interesting aspects of its history as well as fear -- particularly of history repeating itself.

I'm curious to see where the series goes next as I'm enjoying each book, and the secondary characters are loaded with story possibilities.

I really like this series. This book was the most interesting and fun to date. Opening up the world of the Lathar so much further that you just know so much more is to come. Great writing, well rounded characters within an incredible world.
Can't wait for the next book, will it be about B'Kaar or Vorr? And who was hiding in the shadows of President Murphy's office? Inquiring minds want to know, so git to writing!

Well worth your time & $$.

I received an ARC the author, and loved this book so much that I am happily writing this review.

The Lathar mythology keeps expanding and this new clan, of which Seren is a part, is a little different. Yes, he still has so much integrity, but he has also been made to think his kind unworthy. Gracie has secrets of her own, but most of all she has been pining for Seren. When they are forced to leave the base their adventure is fun, sexy, and scary. This book has so many revelations that can be followed into future stories it boggles the mind. This tale is a sci-fi thrill ride, a true romance and a great read!

This is a great addition to the Lathar series. Mina Carter has weaved an intriguing prose that you will not be able to put down. I like that we, the readers, are introduced to different subsets of the Lathar which make this series evolve into a fresh read with every book. Seren is the apex alpha of the Vorr. His mate, the human Grace, is a special ops officer charged with espionage upon the Lathar. She is strong and capable…the perfect mate for a Vorr warrior. Together they must fight for their future together and it’s an amazing read! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

As always, love the Lathar

I have followed this series from the beginning and it never disappoints (there are few authors/series that I will blindly pre-order, this is one). The characters catch your attention immediately, the writing is well done, not overly flowering and without a lot of "padding", ie, constant reminders of a " secret", etc to pad the word count. While the couple does have a few rough spots (of course), it is nothing that can't be overcome and without a lot of annoying whining!

I enjoy the Lathar series a lot, but this book was so dull. The women in this series can sometimes be so full of sh*t. Would you please explain to me how Gracie would have beaten a full armoured B'Kaar? And the use of the word « alien » every 5 seconds was driving me crazy, especially when the humans are the alien in this part of the galaxy. Other than that, I'm eager to see who was the mystery person in the room with Cameron Murphy. Let's hope it's not another white woman. It would be great to see a woman of colour for a change.

Ever have a series that makes you "giddy" when a new installment comes out? That's the way I feel about the Lathar series. I know I'm about to read a story that will have my complete attention from start to finish. Gracie and Seren's story did just that. For a few hours I was able to forget everything but this great story. I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing.

Another great addition to an addicting series! Seren K’Vass has found his match with Gracie but she won’t make it easy. Gracie has secrets that she hasn’t shared but she isn’t the only one. When they find themselves running, she discovers a side of Seren that she couldn’t imagine. This was an action pack storyline with danger, family and a delicious heat that sizzles rom start to finish. I’m always looking forward to the newest addition to this series and this latest one didn’t disappoint.

Storyline measures up to hot romance

It is getting so difficult these days to find writers that can actually create a good storyline for one book much less one that continues so well into a whole series. The author has produced interesting characters in each new book and this one was just as great. Releasing a little new information in every story keeps drawing the reader in and the tidbits we learn from this episode were Lathar Shattering!

Alien Sentinel’s Mate

This is the story of Gracie and Seren. The story is interesting as are the characters. There’s a lot of action and romance. This book is exactly what I would expect from this author. It’s a good read. I saw only very few proofreading errors. Mud was spelled mid. There may have been a couple more but they weren’t bad at all. If you’re reading the Warriors of the Lathar series I recommend this one. There are sexual scenes that may offend some readers.

Good book

This was a good read with lots of action right from the beginning. We find out what secrets both Seren & Gracie are hiding. But more questions and further development in the plot is revealed. We see a bit more of the Missan AI and the K’Barr. We also meet a new Lathar clan. Turns out Seren is the prince of a very old group that predate the Lathars. Seren and Gracie’s relationship grew as they headed to his home planet.

Pedal to the metal whirlwind is what you get when warrior Seren finally admits that Gracie belongs with him.
How they try to make that a reality is when all hell breaks loose - literally.
Very high spirited and extremely magnetic attraction mixed with ground shaking action makes this an unforgettable and emotional adventure.

This story has such an interesting dichotomy. Usually we see the heroine being self-conscious and feeling not good enough for the gorgeous hero, while the hero is a bad ass with a past to hide. This book flips that. It also goes farther into the past of the Lathar people.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

It Was Over So Fast

Write more! Write faster! I can't get enough of these Lathar males! And the Vorr was even sexier! I hope the B' guy falls in love with the AI. That would serve him right. Thank you for another wonderful book! Your books are awesome because they have science fiction, action, intrigue, and romance, all rolled into one. Excellent!!!

Another great story in the Lathar series. This is Seren's story and he has a secret, but is he the only one? I enjoyed Gracie and Seren, they were both not perfect and had to learn to trust. Together they are a force to be reckoned with.
This was a sizzling, action packed romance out of this world. I'm looking forward to the next one.

I have enjoyed reading all the books in this series they can be relied on to be interesting and fun. I like that with each book the world of the Lathar becomes clearer but we also know that there is so much more to learn.

I like this author's writing style and how her Characters all manage to be original and well-rounded, there is just the right amount of action, drama and chemistry to satisfy.

Twists and turns

I like this story. It opens up some new opportunities. However I didn't like that while we got to see Jay, we didn't see Karis (I think that's how you spell her name). Otherwise I really did like the introduction of new characters. And the overall arc plot twist ending...

Surprise, there were plenty of those. Great B

I could not put the book down. There was a lot of twists and turns but I loved the entire Book. The people were interesting and were happy with their simple life or so we were lead to believe. I can't wait to read the next book! Enjoy!
